This is one of the new Heirloom Items introduced in World of Warcraft: Cataclysm. The whereabouts of Heirloom Rings is currently Unknown but most likely will be made available through random profession dailies luck. I feel safe enough saying this since our last Heirloom ring was available from Fishing.

The first Major patch of World of Warcraft: Cataclysm introduced new Heirloom items that were created to help Plate classes obtain the necessary defensive stats to properly Tank dungeons.

My apologies for some inaccurate information previously. This comment was made during the Cataclysm Beta and I just never got around to updating it. Prices have been fixed and it now looks sexier then ever.

Patch 4.1 Heirloom Update
All Heirloom items have had their bindings changed to bind to a single Battle.Net account instead of a World of Warcraft account. This change will let you transfer your items across factions, realms and even the other active World of Warcraft accounts on your Battle.Net Account.

Blizzard has also implemented Tanking Heirlooms with Patch 4.1. Please see above for their names! Links will not be live until the data is merged to the main Wowhead site.

If all of these items are implemented in Cataclysm, you can get up to a 55% increase in experience gained from killing monsters and completing quests.

Helm: 10%
Back: 5%
Chest: 10%
Pants: 10%
Shoulders: 10%
Ring 1: 5%
Ring 2: 5%

Plus, with the other ways to gain extra experience, you can get a grand total of 375% increase in experience!

Rest exp: 100%
Recruit a friend: 200%
Guild perks: 10%
Holiday buffs: 10% (like Fire Festival Dance)

With these new heirlooms your alts will be getting a huge XP advantage for being in the guild as well.
Helm=10%
Shoulder=10%
Cloak=5%
Chest=10%
Legs=10%
L Ring=5%
R Ring=5%
Total=55% ...... but with being in the guild and being rank20 (needed for helm) then you are guaranteed to have an additional 10% to that amount for getting rank12 in the guild which gives the bonus of 10% XP for kills/quests. So your wonderful new alt will be getting 65% XP normal, 265% rested (almost RaF #s) :D

So, here's my question. Do you have to be in the guild when they hit level 10, or do you suddenly gain access to it if you join up with the guild after they hit it. It'd kinda suck to join a guild but then be like, "Oh, you're already level 10. Well, I really want to be able to get the cloak, so see ya later."

Besides the +5% XP bonus this cloak has actually 4 additional stats:

+149 Stength
+224 Stamina
+99 Critical rating
+99 Haste rating

Numbers are for level 85.

Are you required anything after you buy it? like your toon needs to be in the guild that was at lvl 10 when you bought it? or is it just what ever toon you want it on?

For those that are wondering the items Inherited Cape of the Black Baron, Worn Stoneskin Gargoyle Cape and Ancient Bloodmoon Cloak can be sent to all alts and the 5% bonues will apply.

I have an 85 in a level 10 guild and was able to purchase a cloak today and sent this to an unguilded character and was getting 5% extra XP when wearing the cloak to test a 2nd scenario, I sent the cloak to a character in a level 7 guild and also received the 5% XP bonus.

I'm assuming not, since the price was 1200g when I was honored and they are still 1200g at revered.

Anyone know what colour and length these things are? Just for clarity? The wowhead viewer isn't working for me, and noone ingame seems to have one yet. I mean, I have heard they are of a certain length, and a certain palish hue, I would like some additional clarification before I fork over the gold.

(Also, it really could use flavour text clarifying the above point)

These cloaks seem to have 6 times less armor than average level 85 cloak. Level 346 cloak has 580 armor, this one 92 at max level.

At lvl 80 this is a terrible cloak: 38 Str, 57 Stam, and 25 Crit/Haste. At 81 it gets much better: 90 Str, 135 Stam, and 60 Crit/Haste. Perhaps Blizz needs to look at the Northrend scaling?

Probably the best enchants for these heirloom cloaks:
Enchant Cloak - Superior Defense + 70 armor
Enchant Cloak - Dodge + 12 Dodge (this is the harder to find Ahn'Qiraj version, not the Lower City Exalted version which requires ilvl 35)
Enchant Cloak - Lesser Agility + 3 Agility
Enchant Cloak - Stealth from Ahn'Qiraj or
Enchant Cloak - Stealth from Cenarion Expedition Exalted
No good enchants for the caster cloak :(

Since BOA gear is Bind To Account, can I put my boa gear on a lvl 10 char and transfer him to a different sever with all gear intact?

Even after Patch 4.1 you still can not trade BoA cross realm.
Vrakthris confirms this in his response to Zombiecaller on the support forums. 4/26/2011

I am sorry for the confusion, Zombiecaller, but the change to Bind on Account items was to allow those items to be sent to characters on the same Battle.net account. While our Developers would like to allow Cross-Realm, that is not currently possible due to technical limitations.

There are no Strength enchants, so 附魔披风 - 潜行 is the best available enchant for PvE, PvP, and questing, but can also be expensive or difficult to find (or both) since the formula requires exalted with 塞纳里奥远征队. Unfortunately, the next-greatest DPS enchant, 附魔披风 - 次级敏捷, is vastly inferior. If you want a cheap alternative consider the defensive benefits of 附魔披风 - 强效抗性 or 附魔披风 - 超强防御.

Currently there are zero cloak enchants that will increase your DPS. As a result, the following are your best options as a caster leveling via...

...questing, 附魔披风 - 超强防御. You will be taking more damage from physical attacks, on average, and it yields the largest damage reduction versus other available options as you are leveling. Best of all: It's cheap! The recipe is bought off 罗莱尔·冬歌, a vendor in Moonglade.
...PvP, 附魔披风 - 强效抗性, as you take greater magical damage in PvP than you do a PvE leveling environment. It is disproportionately good at lower levels, as well. Also: Cheap and learned from the trainer!
...random dungeon finder, 附魔披风 - 狡诈, as it will limit your threat in a group where the tank has no idea where he is going, and thinks "cc" means "carbon copy."

Tanks - 破洞的沙漠风暴披风

If you're using a Tank cloak, odds are you are not looking to level via questing, though you may enjoy some PvP on the side. The following are your best optionsfor enchants as a tank...

...random dungeon finder, 附魔披风 - 超强防御 is going to mitigate the most damage, is inexpensive, and readily available from most any enchanter. That said, 附魔披风 - 潜行 will benefit both your ability to generate threat and gives you a defensive bonus, if you have deep pockets.
...PvP, 附魔披风 - 强效抗性, as spellcasters can really dish out some pain, and the enchantment will be somewhat helpful against casters in dungeons. There is no "best" choice here, though, and what you use will depend heavily on your style of play, as the prior two suggestions would also be excellent for leveling in battlegrounds.

From a careful examination of this cape it is indeed worn and grants more experience than your average cloak or cape.

+25 (+0.76%) Haste

At level 81:
+90 Str
+135 Stam
+60 (+1.00%) Crit
+60 (+1.39%) Haste

Bigger 80->81 upgrade than your average cloak or cape.

So my cloak says ingame:

"Equip: Experience gained from killing monsters and completing quests increased by 5%."

But I've just tested it, and that is NOT correct:
Mining a Saronite Vein in Scholozar Basin as a level 72 character (with Heirloom Helm, Chest and Shoulders, while rested) I get 5.740 exp. But if I equip this cloak and mine the exact same kind of Saronite Vein, I get 5.944 exp instead (204 exp more).

This heirloom, along with all other heirloom cloaks, should say "Equip: Experience gained is increased by 5%." instead.

...Unless herbing and mining is considered "killing", and veins and herbs are considered monsters, of course ^^
