All MoP herbs below.
Green Tea Leaf
Can be found in most zones, appear to be a rare spawn node for other herbs. I found a lot in jade forest in the same spots i had picked Green tea leafs just a while before
Would be way more if expensive if it was black.
I got 2 of these the first day I played (in the Jade Forest) and nothing since. Are they just in Jade Forest?
Requires 550 herbalism skill and gives you the
Luck of the Lotus
buff after the gathering.
s give you Golden Lotus too, but no buff.
And if you are on the Tillers reputation and quests, you will be allowed to plant some

You can get some extra

Also, seems to be a lot more like Black Lotus from vanilla, as (from what I can tell) it does not drop from other herb nodes. It will spawn its own node that you can harvest instead.
It also appears, from recent comments, after 5.1 players can now get Golden Lotus while picking other herbs.
Thanks Torvoss for the update on having it drop from other herbs. Looks like it's dropping from every type of MoP herb and at this moment, you will not get the buff if you receive it this way.
Edit: As of patch 5.1, the vendor now trades 2 (instead of 3) golden lotus for 1 spirit of harmony
You will also need Golden Lotus to make the new Alchemy trinket. It requires 3 Golden Lotus and a quest item, as discussed here:
You can start herbing this at 550, though you aren't very likely to find it while leveling up...
Unlike Frost Lotus and Fel Lotus (which dropped alongside other herbs), these have their own nodes, like Black Lotus in Vanilla.
I've put the number and name for Frost Lotus into my NPCscan. I got a couple the first two days, nothing since. The number 209354 is at the top of the page for the golden lotus object, I hope this work. Anyone else tries it and get's a hit, please reply, if it doesn't I'll get back to you.
Good luck, they're going to have to up the spawn rate I think.
While questing through Pandaria and leveling my herbalism along the way, I was finding everything BUT these Golden Lotus nodes. I did some research, and read somewhere about these
. I bought a pair on the AH, and since then I have had a bit more luck in finding Golden Lotus nodes. I don't know if it's just a coincidence or not, but I figured I would post it here if it could help out fellow herbies. Also, I have had some Golden Lotus nodes drop 2 Golden Lotuses for me. I don't know if that's another perk of the goggles or not, but I was happy nonetheless! Oh, and you don't have to equip the goggles for them to work, thankfully. Just have them in your bags.
Lots of guildies have been asking me the best way to farm these, as their spawns seem to be random, in places where other herbs usually spawn. My advice is to farm sha-touched herbs instead, I've been getting Golden Lotus off of 1 in 20 (or so) of the sha-touched herbs, and I've never gotten less than two at a time.
Hope this helps!
I can confirm that you can gather Golden Lotus from Sha-Touched Herbs, however you don't get the
Luck of the Lotus
Anyone else feel more lucky on loot and loot rolls when carrying a stack or so of these in their bags?
I won almost all loot rolls till i sold em :P
I got 2 Golden Lotus' from a single spawn.
I find most of my
in caves, be sure to have your track herbs on.
Easiest way to get these are Spirits of Harmony.
If you need them for something else, then the second best way from what personal experience I have, is to find an area that has quite a few nodes of Green Tea Leaf (again, personal experience-never seen a golden lotus node spawn on top of a Fool's Cap, Silkweed, Rain Poppy, or Snow Lily). The area where the Tillers dailies are (in the Kozen area) is normally a good spot (this is coming from a Tauren druid though, so I can just fly away from the monkies and keep on my marry way). Only problem with this area is, obviously, lots of other people are playing in this area nearly consistently all day because of the dailies.
So my second option for this way of 'farming' them is a few places in Jade Forest. Around The Arboretum (haven't tried this area personally), and up and around Terrace of Ten Thunders. Lots of nodes, and not nearly as filled with players as the Kozen area.
Lastly, I've heard that sha-touched herbs are a good way. Problem is finding a place that has a large area, lots of nodes, not many people, and just going around herbing.
I've also been finding them in
, which can drop all the MoP herbs when harvested. Actually got 2 Golden Lotus in one pumpkin harvest the other day.
I got about 4 stacks of these from farming a rare for
, i wish i'd known how much their worth then or i would not have vendered them
Dread wastes, Briny muck, seems to be an excellent farm location for this. Lots of herbs in a fairly even, small area. Just flying around for a few minutes will quickly net you a few stacks of Foolscap and a golden lotus or 2. A little over an hour on a druid, and youll easily have full bags of fools cap, repeatedly, and close to a stack of golden lotus in your bags as well.
Just farmed a golden lotus that yielded x5.
goldmine! so its possible to loot multiple golden lotus from a single node.
It appears that with patch 5.1 you can only get 2 golden lotus (down from 3) for a spirit of harmony.
Golden lotus per spirit of harmony ratio has been dropped from 3 to 2.
I also have a guildmate who claims he got a golden lotus from a green tea leaf node.
They might have tweaked how you can obtain this herb.
Also, with 5.1, it looks like you might be able to get Golden Lotus from harvesting other herb nodes as well. I just got 2 Green Tea Leaves and 2 Golden Lotus when harvesting a Green Tea Leaf plant.
i received one of these from a snow lily node in shadow pan monastery. that data is not recorded on wowhead so i just thought i would put that in to help.
Not sure if they increased the chance to get a Golden Lotus when using Enigma Seed but yesterday I had 5 on my farm (from a total of 16 plots) and today I have 7 (from a total of 15 plots due to planting one of those new portal seeds) I've never ever seen more than 3, and that only happened the one time.........
I'm not complaining :)
I am now getting Golden Lotus from herbing non golden lotus herbs. Can any one confirm this, is it a change in 5.1?
I'm getting a crazy high drop rate on golden lotus with the enigma seeds. Anyone else seeing that?
There's a chance to loot golden lotus when you pick any MoP herb deposits.
Seems it now can be gathered from other herbs? got 2 golden lotus in green tea leaf herbs.. ?
Now with patch 5.1 live every plant has a chance to drop
together with the plant u gather.
And now there's a chance to drop more than 1
As of 5.1.0 the easiest way to get this is farming from enigma seeds on your farm.
with 11 toons over 2 days (22 tests) each farm only had 12 plots (not full exalted 16)
no toons struck out
1 toon only got 1
3 times only got 2
remainder got 3 or more
Considering that you would get 1.2 Harmonies or 2 Golden Lotus from the exchange rate, your best bet is now to plant enigma seeds, not songbell.
I have gathered 9 golden lotus while exploring krasarang wilds, jade forest and kun-lai summit in about an hour...and most of the time it was inside other herbs node like green tea leaf or snow lily. It also seems that getting the 15 minutes buff from a golden lotus node helps you gather more golden lotus...I've been lucky finding 4 golden lotus inside the 2 next nodes i gathered right after picking a golden lotus.
I planted enigma 15 seeds for 1 week (7 Days) and here is the yeild
36 Golden Lotus
50 Snow Lily
56 Rain Poppy
27 Fool's Cap
21 Green Tea Leaf
With the lowering of trade in from 3 Golden Lotus to 2 for a Spirt of Harmony farming them with enigma seeds is by far the best way to get Golden Lotus. Motes would be 1.5 per day or 10.50 for the week and 20 Golden Lotus on Trade in however this yeild was 36 way more. Farm them.
Can confirm they drop with regular herbs, I just had one drop with 3 silkweed from a silkweed node in Krasarang
Same here. got
Would like to warn that it doesnt give a buff
This herb still continues to elude me. My Herbalism is way over 550 and I have enough Green Tea Leaves to put Lipton out of business. But not a single Golden Lotus. Is there some special accomplishment you have to do before these start appearing?
I'd just like to say that I was an elixir spec alchemist so these were awesome to get, yet I would never find ANY. Seriously I'd find maybe 1 a day if I was lucky.
As soon as I switched to Pot spec I've been finding them everywhere. I've gotten 13 in a day.
I have been planting 16 Enigma Seeds per day for the last 7 days. I am averaging 25% Golden Lotus. So from my 16 plot farm, I get about 4 per day. This is a better return than planting Songbell Seeds and trading in the Spirit of Harmony.
Regarding the change of being able to grab these bad boys while herbing normal herbs, you shouldnt be disheartened, it took 324 herbs just until a lotus dropped with them, id even seen 4 golden lotus nodes during this time, but it was probably bad luck.
Unfortunately I doubt we will ever get a proper drop rate from normal herbs as it's a change and not from the get go so the data wowhead has will be massively undervalued, just don't think they've taken it away, keep herbing youll getem :)
Could anybody tell me why the vendor prices are so low for this kind of stuff in MoP?
it has been my experience that people are farming partial nodes and leaving the tea leave, I see this all day long with a druid in bird form along Kenzen in vofw. You know when nodes have been partially farmed for golden lotus when after several of them, you get nothing other than tea leaves, not even the spirit things.
But is this "cheating" or is it everyone for themselves however which way you can do it? My guess is, its a dog eat dog world...but Id like to know if exploiting this ability of partial farming for personal profit would be considered wrong?
Has a woeful chance of appearing when picking herbs. It seems there is no difference which herb in pandaria you pick the drop rate is poor. So far, with over 185 Herbs picked in Pandaria, I have managed to get x2 which is abysmal. It's more infuriating because I am trying to get 3 GL for the alchemist stone.
I have become rather shocked at the LIMITED amount of herbs in Jade Forest. I play on low to medium sized realm, and most people tend not to do herbs (alch or scribe, probably because both professions suck since panda land) and recently noticed that former spawn points are no longer spawning the nodes.
I asked around, and it seems they didn't just slow down the spawn timer on high end herbs they also did it with low stuff like Green Tea. I can run throughout the zone and only see 2 or 3 spawns..sure it could be super wow lag thanks to CRZ...make it look like we ain't dying type deal from Blizz.
Never the less, for now it can be assumed the drop rate for this herb is very low, it's conceivable that once you get this the zen alchemist stone quest at 85, you will still be farting around looking for those golden lotus time wasting herbs lol
I came here to discover what this was and how it was used. I am a miner/engineer and recieved my Golden Lotus when I opened a bag of loot in my backpack. I think I probably picked it up as a random drop from a beastie I killed but I don't know. I was going to put it in the Auction House but since reading how difficult it is to farm, I will keep it for the Alchemists in my small family guild. Good luck to all as you search for your elusive Golden Lotus!
I don't get it, are Golden Lotus and Tea Leaves of any use to anyone but alchemists or herbalists? Where can you "trade them in" As someone said?
Blizzard really dropped the ball on this one. This herb is so rare that you can literally farm for hours and not find a single one. Oh sure, you can buy them, but two Golden Lotus costs one Spirit of Harmony, which just so happens to be one of the other hard to acquire items in the game - you have to collect 10 Motes of Harmony just to make one and since they're soul bound, you can't buy them. And they're needed as well for most recipes, so why would anyone want to trade them for anything else. Nice going, Blizzard-tards..........
Update: Still not having any luck farming these. If not for Spirits of Harmony and the generosity of my guild mates, I would not have any at all. I may have to try growing them, like some people have resorted to doing, because forget trying to farm them. The drop rate is like 1/1000th of a percent.
I'd just like to confirm again that you can indeed proc a Golden Lotus off of any herb node in MoP areas. However, I read somewhere that you need to have your Herbalism skill at a minimum of 550 to have it proc, or see the Golden Lotus nodes themselves, which I found to be untrue. I was farming in Jade Forest and proc'd a Golden Lotus off a Green Tea Leaf node at about 530, and found my first Golden Lotus node around 540.
Unfortunately, I didn't have the time to take a screenshot, but I just thought I'd let everyone know.
Also, if a Golden Lotus procs off of a normal herb node, you do not get the Luck of the Lotus buff, and I am unsure of how that buff affects your chances of finding more Golden Lotus nodes, as someone else mentioned.
Good luck all! :D
Planting herbs for Golden Lotus vs. planting Songbells:
(using whole farm space - 16 slots)
5 Lotus from enigma seeds; songbell could give 1.6 of them
6 Lotus on another alt
got 11 of them instead of 3 from Spirit of Harmony this day
4 + 5 + 3 + 6 + 5 = 23 Golden Lotuses
pluses are among alts :)
4 + 4 + 3 + 3 + 5 = 19 Golden Lotuses
also few of them drops from gathering the herbs ability, all included
7 + 9 + 6 + 3 + 4 = 29 Golden Lotuses
3 + 6 + 3 + 7 + 3 = 22 Golden Lotuses
As of 5.3 you can gather these with a herbalism skill level of 1. You do not get a lower tier material as in get 10 leaves to make a Golden Lotus, instead, you get the pure thing!
Not only do you have a chance to get this herb by gathering any herb, but its node also spawns in the same places as any other nodes. Simply put, this means that any areas with a dense herb spawn will yield the most golden lotus.
So, if you really want a lot of these, then I suggest gathering at
. These places have a much higher herb density than the other maps. You could also gather from the bottom of
. The redish-brown part of
has quite a high density.
Upon using your
skill to gather one of these beauties you will get the
buff, which allows you to receive
If you enter into any kind of group such as an instance, I recommend you do
open it until you have exited the instance and/or group; other-wise, they will receive an equal part of your gold.
Sharing your things is usually not a good concept in WoW: You will always wonder what could have become of you and the gold that got away...
if you grow seeds, you have a good chance of getting a golden lotus. i dont know, maybe i was just lucky. i just grew 16
, 5 out of 16 of them came out Golden lotus. that was my first time growing herbal plants. so i will grow more and see if growing herbal seeds would actually have a better chance of getting a golden lotus than gathering.
ok the new herbs are grown, i saw another 5 golden lotus popped out again. looks like the chances of getting a golden lotus from
is approx. 1/3.
ok, so yesterday i only used 1 side of the farm so i only grew 8
, but today it still comes out 5 Golden Lotus. it seems like the maximum you will get is 5. i am not sure if you will always get 5, so this time i am gonna do a test, i will grow just 5
this time and see if all 5 seeds will come out Golden lotus. if all would come out 5 GL then i think no matter how many you grow, if you grow more than 5
, it would always give you 5 Golden lotus.
ok, no, grew just 5 seeds, none popped out a golden lotus, guess it is just pure chance.
Golden Lotus can be gotten quite easily if you're prepared to wait - via Farming at Sunsong Ranch.
I have been doing it for some time now and if anyone was a little 'iffy' about the drop rates...
44 days * 6 people* 16 seeds per day = Total Sample Size: 4224 plants
Lotus = 1280
under 5 per day per person.
The testing was done under multiple conditions e.g. Exalted or not with Golden Lotus, Exalted with Tillers, owning the ranch, not owning the ranch etc.
None of these made ANY difference.
TLDR; You'll get about 5 a day from farming - get on it =D
Edit: 78 days and still 5 a day per person.
You can also get them out of a mysterious herb satchel dropped my some rares in Pandaria.
i feel like these have absolutely destroyed the alchemy market. on my server almost every single flask constantly sells for less than the golden lotus alone. anyone else having that problem?
Now that MoP is almost over, I'd like to share what I know about Lotus. I'd like to see more of it sold on my server, even in WoD. I didn't feel that way until now. Here is the three things I do (And I'm sorry for the length of the comment, there was a lot of data and nuances to cover):
1 I plant 16 Songbells on 5 diff chars. Only 2 of them are on the same server but I like stacking Spirits of Harmony and I feel that Spirits are the best way to attain Lotus. Every Spirit is 2 lotus, so every day you are pulling 2 and a good chunk of another 2 for the next day. It adds up, especially the more chars you are gardening songbells on. This method is obvious and stated here many times. Start your day with this and move onto step 2, then step 3.
2 Next is a method I don't see as common: I may have a special circumstance of having my herb/alch char on the same server as my skinner/herb char? But you can do this without a skinner but I dont recommend it. Go to the Skyrange, it is in Valley of the Four Winds, the Tiller's dailies will send you there, they are great source of daily gold and Ironpaw Tokens, which can get you 100 year Soy Sauce from the quartermaster, which usally sells well on most servers, this is a good way to get extra gold to buy Lotus, the Dailies income and the Ironpaw Tokens also really add up to good spare gold to buy stacks of Lotus from the AH. Don;t forget to herb while you are up here. I don't even bother doing the dailies anymore as they are tedious, but the income is really great if you aren't sick of them yet, and most of them are really really easy. Now for the main strategy I use for Lotus (the lower the pop of your server, the better this works):
3 Once your dalies are finished, (don;t bother turning in until your session is over) Take your skinner/herbalist character, (buy a Sky Golem if you haven't, it is mandatory for an account with an herbalist on it and even more mandatory if you have more than 1 on different servers) and fly around the Skyrange / Kunzen village. Make sure your Find Herbs is on. You are looking for the Golden Lotus spawn, usually one of the herbs is a placeholder for it, so fly around looking for the Golden Lotus spawn, 1 always spawns here about every 15-30 mins. (Also, 2 different Rare mobs spawn just north up the side of the mountain in Mistfall Village, this can be very good farming as they respawn quickly, i farm them all day for Treasures of the Vale)
Once you pick a Golden Lotus spawn, (one WILL show within 30 minutes) Another GOlden Lotus will spawn exactly 15 mins later, or close to that amount of time. This effectively keeps the Treasure cache buff on you at all times. If you don't find one right away, use a Golden Lotus and make yourself a Potion of Luck. You are looking for the Potion of Luck/Golden Lotus herb picking buff that gives you treasure caches off MoP mobs. Its far cheaper to find a Golden Lotus around the Skyrange then it is to make or buy a potion. But you want the buff either way. Keep picking herbs all over the Skyrange as you fly around on your golem. This imo, is the best place to herb and mine in MoP. The respawns are only a few mins, I find it hard to herb as fast as they respawn. This is one way to get the slowest Golden Lotus, the ones that pop in addition off normal herb nodes. Now, once you have the Golden Lotus treasure cache buff, start by where the named quest Kunzen spawns down at the furthest tip of the Skyrange, (his name is Kon-Kon)and fly a circle around the Skyrange, specifically looking for packs of Stout Shaghorn. Pick all the herbs you see along the way.
AOE these packs down, I find a skinner/herber Sky Golem'd Worgen Hunter is best for this, because of the racial skinning buff? The 2 packs in the mid can be pulled together, and the 2 packs up north by the trees can be pulled together as well, making it even faster. Loot the dead pack and you will get at least 1 Mote of Harmony (if not 3 or more sometimes), Treasure Caches for gold and other mats, Green boes, and if you have a skinner, at least half a stack of Exotic Leather. All this loot adds up! I'm talking thousands of gold an hour, which means if you sell on the AH diligently you can buy stacks of Golden Lotus off the AH pretty freely. The main thing you are looking for here is the Motes of Harmony however.
You can pull about 5 Spirits of Harmony an hour (or more!) doing this off just two hours a day. Thats a stack of Golden Lotus worth of Spirits of Harmony a session. I do it while im queing CTA bgs, talking to friends, etc, it's a pretty mindless activity and I love it for that. When you add in the Boe Green sales on the AH, the Exotic Leather Sales on the AH, all the Green Tea Herbs that respawn near the packs, its buku gold. What I do with this gold is I take my Flask Specialty Master Alchemist and I use the Golden Lotus I farm through the Spirits of Harmony and my extra farmed gold and buy Golden Lotus off the AH, and I start ROLLING IN THE LOTUS. Then I take it and i make like 200 Flasks. A day. Yes, a day. I did this at the start of MoP and I was pulling like 10 grand gold a day because of my Flask Mastery procs. The carebear raiders def pay too much for flasks at the start of an expansion. Now its more like 2500g a day,
Prices have fallen to a quarter of what they were at the start of the Xpac, but thats too be expected as the bots quit and people quit and such. Keep in mind, the deader your server is, the easier this Golden Lotus farming method is, I absolutely LOVE the world pvp you run into here however, I am super protective of "my territory" and I boot daily questers as well as farmers off the side of the mountain with Explosive Trap, or I just straight shoot them down. It's an absolutely lovely place to make gold and pvp at the same time. I find it more fun than the bgs as I am super agressive. But to each his own.
Two final notes, another good way to make gold to buy Lotus is to not sell the massive amounts of Green Tea Herb you picked up in the Skyrange? Use your Alchemist to turn them into Master Healing Potions instead. Sell them on AH. You'd be surprised to see what some tanks pay for a 20 stack of those, its a travesty. And the demand, while low, does appear to remain somewhat steady. Over time this method will become bad as WoD release occurs. Also, this particular farming method? Herbing, Skinning, Mining, Getting greens and Treasure Caches in the Skyrange? WIll DEFINITELY help revitalize a Low Pop Servers economy. I wouldn't be greedy about the sales, for instance most pricks on my server charge the enchanters 300g a MoP green? I charge 50g as theyre so plentiful. I sell Exotic Leather and Green Tea Herbs wholesale, and I've literally seen my bad server flourish from dead to barely alive.
This farming method is literally good for the entire friendly faction on your server, as it stimulates resource production for like 5+ different professions. It also makes sure there are flasks for the Raiders. A good herb/ alchemist (I used to provide an entire top 50 guild with flasks and it took strategies such as these to do it alone and still get the job done) can be one of the greatest boons to a struggling server, same as many other production professsions if they are savvy and doing it right.
Because Blizzard removed the Potion of Luck from the Game. Herbalists can make a ton of gold if they happen to find a Golden Lotus node. This is because the Golden Lotus still gives the effects of a Potion of luck. That wasn't taken out of the game! There are a few guides about it on Youtube. Just haven't seen a whole lot about it and figured I would mention it. PS. You only need herbalism to be skill level 1 ;)
i like golden lotus
As of 8.1.5 (possibly earlier) you can pick Golden Lotus at low herbalism levels. I just got one in the Jade Forest at Pandarian Herbalism level 13.
Enigma Seeds are definitely the way to go. I have been planting them for a couple of days and have always had at least three GL show up, in fact today I got eight yeh count 'e eight! I know Panda farming can be a tedious PITA but it's a lot better than spending ages scouring the countryside. Also don't know if it's commonly known but you can pull the Tangled plants whilst mounted, much quicker and easier, after all it's only funny seeing your alts fall on their butt once right?
