If they keep the 0s GCD, then it could be a nice upgrade through macro.
No global cooldown, but shares 1min cooldown with potions. Still, since engineering is now all about Gearspring Parts and daily cooldowns, this is awesome way to burn excess ore. Bind to some nuke skill, and use on any pulls where you don't want to use potion.
these babies act beautifully as an additional attack in your rotation or for pulling mobs to you but keeping your distance, the main reason these work so well is the insanely high damage they cause this is so high it can almost one shot mobs in frostfire ridge
This is actually a useful little rocket and does a sufficient amount of damage during questing, especially when you're overwhelmed with nuisance mobs.
Edit to add - now that my main is level 100, her health with moderate starter dungeon gear is about 220K. The bomb hits for about 50K (I seem to recall the damage being lower before), which indicates this is an OP item for the low 90s, but still useful in a pinch.
These bring back memories of one-shotting mobs with Saronite Bombs during early Wrath. I love these things and am so glad we finally have a powerful bomb again. One of my favorite things to do now, as a rogue, is stealth around battlegrounds and surprise people with these. In one shot I can sometimes get half of their health taken away.
Honestly, they seem kind of overpowered so I wouldn't be surprised if they get nerfed somehow. Even if they don't, by 6.1 their effectiveness will be much less. But they will be fun while they last.
Wonderful item to bring into challenge mode!
Despite being able to be craft all four devices via Draenor
, can be placed into Engineering containers, such as
cannot be stored in Engineering containers, and rather take up normal bag slots.
Unfortunately also puts your nitro boots on cd.
These seem to have the ability to multistrike.
Now costs 1x Gearspring Parts. Dammit, Blizzard.
EDIT: Scratch that, it's ore again. But I swear, at one point crafting them used up my Gearspring Parts and the recipe was showing them as required ingredients. Should have screened it.
I don't believe I've seen anyone mention this yet, but these are incredibly powerful in older content.
At level 100, they do roughly 1+ million damage in Wrath of the Lich King raids, and around 750k in Cataclysm raids. They are capable of both having critical hits and multistriking. Their damage can be increased by damage percentage increasing abilities such as Avenging Wrath. Although it isn't mentioned in the tool-tip they also put a DOT on the target as well, which does around 80k damage every second.
I have managed to one-shot a ICC raid boss with one of these. Using Avenging Wrath and my versatility on use trinket on my paladin it critically hit Marrowgar for 2.1 million damage and multistrike hit for 1.26 million. (Double multi-strike proc?) Also my mastery kicked in for an additional 567,000 damage.
These have saved me a ridiculous amount of time in my mount runs. (Especially Freya, in Ulduar, as it will pretty much one shot her even on her hard-mode setting for 10-man)
Happy farming, folks.
I have a sinking feeling these will be nerfed sooner or later. I sent a few stacks to a 90's alt and you just destroy ppl in random battlegrounds; 50k is about 1/3rd of one's hitpoints in this bracket.
Since it share CD with porions like Draenic Strength Potion, which of will add more total DPS? Also this CD dsnt drop in comabt, shame.
These can be used to one-shot flying players below lv. 80. Dismount, cast this and use whatever method your class has to prevent fall damage. Instant cast in the air and does like 50k damage.
These Rockets are very good for Proving Grounds. If you have a low ilvl like 630 (Their HP is based on your gear while the Rocket damage is flat) these will help you nuke targets when you're running low on time. Regular potions might be better when you get a high ilvl, but these Rockets are both cheap and very effective.
Incredibly useful when doing the stable training for your garrison. I have a hunter and almost gave up on these quests. Then i found some that i had from some loot and spam the pet mend button I now defeat these mobs with ease.
Pro: They´re incredibly
, even for current content... Hell they can even crit 20% hp from a level 100 PvP target.
Cons: Mechas and belt-tinkers/potions share CD so makes you think about what to use and when...
Does anyone know where I can Find an, "ARCLIGHT SPANNER " used to craft these devices?
Usable since level 91, but even as a fairly well geared max level, these still do a very hefty chunk of damage. I easily burn through a stack of these a day.
I use the Mecha-Blast Rocket together with the Shieldtronic Shield on a daily basis and I'm always running out of them. I'd love to get more but the AH doesn't always have them
Testing on a level 100 in 730 ilvl gear on a training dummy - average 50k initial damage, and another 20k over 4 seconds.
On current content, this item is not worth using in any instance where you would use a DPS/armor/mana potion instead.
For instances where you wouldn't normally use a DPS/armor/mana potion (or
as an Engineer), this is an extremely cheap item you can use for a
of damage. As Dorleron posted, it is quite a bit more handy with old content due to damage scaling.
puts the following on cooldown:
I finally found a use for those stupid
that keep piling up from the Blingtron dailies:
! I've discovered that damage absorbed by the shield doesn't break the buff needed for the achievement. So here's what I did:
1. Accepted the two dailies at Deadtalker's plateau (Assault Deadtalker's plateau and Spirit Dust).
2. Killed the Crusher with a rocket.
3. Pulled the big packs of mobs by using the rocket on the Corpsedefiler , popping the shield, and aoeing the small guys down.
4. Once I had enough dust I just used the rocket on the remaining Corpsedefilers I needed then jumped off a cliff so I wouldn't have to kill the spirits. I used my Engineering tinker
but you can also use the
from Blingtron or just jump into water to avoid dying.
5. Turned in those quests and picked up the boss quest I needed (Uruk!).
6. Killed uruk with a shield and rocket.
7. Did the other firebarrel quests using the edge technique in other comments.
NOTE: The first hit you do on Uruk doesn't do any damage to him, so hit him with a ranged attack before using your rocket.
Hope this helped.
I believe this item should be now allowed in PVP below lv100 as it is very OP for capture the flag. People basically look like they get one shotted. Had a fury warrior sniping people with the flag. It was very not cool.
Damage from a rocket depends on your equipment and specialization. Being naked you wull do less damage with a rocket. I was testing it on a garrison dummy. But crit chance will vary rocket damage in a huge range: up to 2-3 times.
Useful for soloing bosses like
for classes who don't have/deal little damage in ranged attacks.
