I got this as priest with 248 ilvl after I figured out a few things. One was that my soulbind had the wrong conduits as I rarely play holy, so I fixed that. I also got a 291 sephuz and paired it with echoing resolve, though ended up running regular trinket for layer 8. I spam reset floors until I got horrific dictionary, power inversion and the power infusion giving instant flash heal (if you get at least 1 horrific dictionary see if the other 2 powers drop from the first 2 mobs). Go disc and drop a dome and a radiance, then back to holy to get 9 stacks of horrific dictionary. With 1 power inversion, it's worthwhile to smite. With 2, just focus on flash healing yourself. When the first 4 elites come, serenity, apotheiosis, serenity, desperate prayer, power infusion, flash heal spam. You can also fade if you have the fade decoy thingy. If you die with power inversion make sure you divine hymn if you have your fade pet or a void wraith. Focus the deadsoul chorus if they're up for chastise (spec stun) and fear, play with your back to a beginning portal as I've died to knockbacks more often than not (some maps have a chain to re-enter the fray). Extremely high value powers are: not taking more than 25% damage, immunity to silence, immunity to stuns, cloud of obscuring mists, slowing enemies casting. Other than that, extending power infusion, fade reduction, chance to stun enemies with holy damage. Flashbox is pretty much useless as 90% or more of your damage comes from flash heal. I'd recommend having feasts, flasks, augment runes, drums and potions to overcome the first floor.
I found it very fun towards the end, but it's almost impossible to balance. The first floor represents an impossible cliff 9/10 times due to lacking specific anima powers and I finished every floor from the third in less than a minute after alighting at the correct power setup.

So i just finished layer 8 as brewmaster monk (Necro) and oh boy I had to go through 80 times due to the unfairness of this layer I am not a bad player it's just that this layer is catered around so much RNG itself.I was item level 252 and honestly layer 6,7 were much easier but layer 8 i could not even get past the first floor without the bone dust brew epic anima and corrosive dosage and even when i got those special anima powers it was still not enough the unity belt didn't help me much either to the massive RNG on it.
It was bad enough for Blizzard to nerf corrosive dosage from 5 stacks 3 but in the end, I managed to push through it somehow, my savior for me was an insane amount of hp from the anima. At the end i accumulated over 394k hp. If I didn't have that the mobs would have just used me as a toilet scrubber. Honestly, i don't want to imagine this on other classes who don't have killer anima powers.

Finally managed to do this on
Havoc DH
. After about 70k gold spent to repairs and consumables due failed attempts, I managed to get the right row in the lotto for the powers.
What I needed was:
Full consumables:
Flask, weapon buff, armor kit, rune
Gear:
~270 ilvl and 4 set and ofc awesome transmog
Covenant:
Venthyr (I guess doen't matter but Venthyr seemed best dps wise)
3 starting powers
无尽怒火护盾
Immunity while channeling Eye Beam
苍白之眼
60% CD reduction to Eye Beam during Metamorphosis
(at least make sure you have these two above or then exit and reset run)
阵亡战友的眼罩
Extra demon for Eye Beam
After that I prioritized
黑眼勋章
Darkglare Medallion power(s) to get to constantly cast Eye Beam.
Powers that otherwise enhanced my chances of survival. If you happen to get the powers that make you loose max 25% per hit or immunity to stuns or fears, pick those too.
After first floor I was left with 0 lifes left but the flow of correct powers after first and second floor made the run feel much more manageable. Still was very afraid when there was multiple mobs that cause loss of control on your character. With high enough haste and
无尽怒火护盾
, you actually maintain the immunity buff for a while after you've stopped channeling Eye Beam.
TL:DR
Do it with some ridiculously easy class with crazy soloing powers like a hunter.

Completing floor one has a pretty strict DPS requirement / Survivability requirement.
Maybe this will be easier when we are all 280+ ilvl, but currently it requires cheesing IMO. After you complete floor one, the rest of the run should be a cakewalk.
I did this as Necro Brewmaster Monk, which is overpowered in Torghast, and it still was more RNG and patience than it was skill on the first floor.
My tips
Enter/Exit until you get your best powers, dont waste your time trying with bad powers
Use drums / other consumables for floor 1.
It's OK if you die a few times during the first couple floors, its less likely you will die on the later floors
If you do die, just wait for all CD's to come back
Be liberal with your cooldowns, DONT LET BIG PACKS DEVELOP unless you know you can handle it. If you die with a big pack on you, you likely just killed your run since you now will have to deal with all of that after a respawn.
It is sometimes better to suicide and stop the spawning of more mobs while you wait for cd's. Use your lives as a resource.

Completed this as a BM Hunter with next to no investment. Was ~Ilvl 226 for the entirety of the other layers with a slight bit of gear upgrading (around one or two average item levels) at layer 8. Did not have any tier pieces on my layer 8 clear. Had enchants and consumables for Layer 8 only. Was a Night Fae and had Ilvl 200 conduits at Renown ~55 or so to get Dreamweaver's tree maxed out. Be prepared to channel your inner Sekiro as you will be deflecting like crazy.
Used a very cheap 210 Craven Strategem in the Neck for part of the cheese strat. Used another very cheap Unity at 210 as well for the extra DPS (slot doesn't matter too much but for min/maxing, I'd suggest boots). Optimize crafting legendaries as high as you can should you have the money.
Things to note:
I recommend Animal Companion. Another target for enemies to hit means less heat on you and less chances for you to die once your main pet dies, as it will most likely die a lot.
Do not take Barrage. While you are under Aspect of the Turtle, and you use Barrage, it for whatever reason will consider you as not deflecting attacks, so you will start to take damage from everything in the room. I recommend Stomp as an alternative. This also means that the Torghast power which gives Stomp as a talent is not one I would recommend going for (is basically useless).
You will want two powers at the start: at least one stack of
Chelonian Crest
, and
Death's Rest
. This allows for permanent uptime of Aspect of the Turtle, negating next to all damage in the run, though not everything. What damage that can hit you will be either negligible or will be covered below. You will need to reset your run at the start should you not get those 2 powers at the least. For the third power, should the options appear,
Craven Strategem
will stack with the Legendary of the same name, allowing for Feign Death to be an instant cast with no cooldown. Another stack of
Chelonian Crest
can also be useful. You should aim to get these as soon as you can for the quality of life they provide.
Be willing to use Feign Death near the entrance of each room to reset enemy aggro and collect yourself. You can use this method to pick off enemies/bosses one by one if you would like to. This will also reset boss stacks of
Unnatural Power
. You can also dismiss your pets, reapply Turtle, and activate Cheetah/Soulshape to quickly nab any powers you may want, then Feign Death again to reset, ensuring safe acquisition of that power.
Lord of Spires will not reset back to its initial portal position. This to my knowledge is the only enemy in Torghast to act like this, but it will just stop and sit wherever it lost aggro, so you may need to be clever when it comes to trying to reset aggro on this enemy. Use your speed buffs and feel free to reset at other positions in the room just to get it out of the way.
Vault Sentinel takes top priority if it ever shows up. Its fear cast: Cries of the Tormented, will go through your Turtle shield, fearing you and your pets in random directions. This will also cause the deflection of Turtle to no longer work while the fear takes place, making you far more likely to die. Either interrupt the cast, or stun him to prevent him from casting. If your damage is low, you can get him to around 70% health and let him go into his add phase, giving you time to deal with the other trash in the room.
Other powers worth recommending are as follows:
Zovaal's Versatile Vittles
. This can appear as a common, rare, or epic power, dependent upon how many stacks you will get of it. In my opinion, a must have power as it improves your pets' abilities to carry you through the instance. It also stacks infinitely, to my knowledge. In a layer 7 run, I was able to get it up to 67 stacks. In my layer 8 run, I got it up to 33. Note as well that the size portion of it caps at 200%, so the pets won't take up the whole room.
Soulsteel Pinion
. Getting so much single target damage every minute is amazing. This combined with your other damage cooldowns will basically allow you to target any enemy and mark them for death.Any powers that increase Critical Strike chance.
Elethium Beacon
is a must take, along with
Lens of Elchaver
.
Fogged Crystal
. This in combination with
Ashen Hide
will allow your pet to be next to invulnerable while Misdirect is active. A great choice pair for overall pet survival.
All in all, I'm glad to have this over and done with. I recommend getting this complete on this class, but with a higher Item Level and your tier set to make things go along smoother and quicker. This is also coming from the perspective of someone that just wants the Veilstrider title and needed to find a way to solo this achievement, and from someone with no experience in playing BM Hunter. Best of luck to those who go for this!

stacked here as 274 fire mage. Problem not only in predefined powers that you require. But also in mobs. You cannot burst everything down in 15 secs. You have to kite em a bit. BUT if you have 3-4 "boss" mobs at same time (mostly final bosses from adamant vaults) who can cast slow and stun - you just have no chances. You need ideal composition: barriers/nova + fireblast + 30% damage at start (or at least 2 of em). And when you kill first 2 mobs who drops 2 orbs - you have to get something useful. Like another purple talent. In this case you can pop BL and clean first 2-3 portals. Blink away and go to invise. After that w8 5 min for new invise (if you care about ur deaths count). Or better even 10 for new BL. And clean 1 more portal. Repeat circle as much as you need. But as I said if there several bosses with stun/slow/fear at same time you can do nothing. Only try to kill 1 of them with cds and hide in invise. But half of them have stealth detection. So it wouldnt be easy too. I did 7th layer only with proper talent which drops from first 2 mobs. W/o it I hadnt any success try.
Also map is important. If your first map small circle with abyss around (where you can be knocked down and isnta death) - your chances even with good talents are minimal. So all this even is about RNG. Until you do not catch ur perfect animas, mobs and map at same time your chances around zero.
Major tip: dont try to be hasty. Kill few rares then go invise and w8 cds. Always kill medium mobs with detection first! Bats and owls especially. Probably u'll waste like 30+min for 1st level. But do you really think you will get better chances with risk strategy especially if you get ur proper talents/mobs/map after many tries? This layer just about first 2 floors. After that you are unstoppable. So just do it careful.
+++
finished finally. When got 2xSpellweaver's Mojo at start and Triune Ward + Resolute Medallion after few start bosses. Spend 2h totally on success try with tactic described above. And lost all lives within first 2 floors. And did last 6 w/o deaths obviously. After you get Triune Ward, Creeping Freeze and especially Bottled Enigma the victory is almost yours. Because you can always safely kite and run away / invise. W/o Bottled Enigma I think you dont have real chances to finish last 2-3 floors. Just because combinations of fear/stun bosses and bosses who become immune and spawn adds are pretty high. You can meet like 5+ of them at same moment. And they keep you in CC permanently while mobs kills you in 3-4 secs. I got mine at 4d floor where many bosses spawn but all of them "specific" aka hadnt fear/stun abilities. SInce floor 5 and small maps I survived ONLY cos I had Bottled Enigma. So take it even if you have megapurple anima power at same row.

This wouldn't be so bad if classes were more balanced in Torghast but you can go from being immune to all damage on ae a hunter with 100% uptime on turtle and being able to attack vs continuing to struggle no matter what you get. I dont know if Blizzard expects people get the perfect anima powers at start, to craft specific legendaries, bring food/flask, drums for every attempt etc but if you ask me this ^&*! just needs a nerf or either revamp the anima powers for some classes so it becomes more balanced. I feel like it shouldn't be this hard for someone between 270-280 Ilvl and 4set but again for some classes this seems harder than Mythic raiding.

Alas the gods have bestowed me with perfect RNG and I have managed to do layer 8 as a Death Knight tank with 275 ilvl, 4set and the perfect anima powers to go with it. All I can say is good luck if you're not a Necrolord because the Volatile Flesh power definitely carried my run. First off do NOT even think about doing this as dps cause I assure you when you bring 1 one of the first 4 bosses down to 50% health and the next 4 bosses spawn, you're going to die within 2-3 seconds due to 8 bosses smashing you on the head and spamming CC like slow/fear/stun etc.
Secondly as far as Death Knights in Torghast go I've tried starting with: Mind Freeze CD + Icebound Fortitude proc from interrupting spell + Drakebreath, Lich Crown + Lich Robes, Chains of Ice + Health link and although these powers can become very powerful (especially the chains of ice cause you can make multiple targets share 100% of damage taken) they are way too slow in the beginning and will definitely not get you to the next floor.
TL;DR for my strategy: Get Volatile Flesh and Entropic Pools in the beginning, hope you get 50% more damage absorption on Fleshcraft from the first 2 regular mobs. Make sure to kite and kill the bug on the outside of the room before bringing the first elite down to 50% because that will make the first 4 bosses spawn. When the first 4 bosses spawn you want to pop your damage abilties like Abomination Limb, Dancing Rune Weapon, spam some Heart Strikes so you can bring the health on 1 of the first 4 bosses to 50% which will make the next 4 bosses spawn. Now is the time to use Vampiric Blood, cast Fleshcraft and hope its enough to kill most of them. It doesn't really matter if you die (just make sure you have your cooldowns when you pull again) since for now all you're trying to do is getting to the next floor for more anima powers. You're mainly going to focus on surviving, taking anima powers that reduce enemy damage, boost your defenses while also picking health for more Fleshcraft damage.

Wrapped this up today. Honestly think a 3 man group is the sweet spot. We didn't have amazing RNG right off the bat, but we also weren't being one-shot as easily as in a 5 player group. Did this with a tank and two dps. There's still RNG involved, so mentally prepare to reset and try again. It might feel impossible, but after the 3rd floor we were clearing floors in under 30 seconds. Just need to get over that initial hump. Try, try again.

TL;DR cheese it with BM hunter.
Small rant about how incredibly unbalanced Torghast is.
Warrior - Been playing this class for 15 years. 278 ilvl, 278 conduits, 4 piece tier, 2 legendaries. Tried all 3 specs and all 4 covenants. Couldn't get past layer 6. Powers for warrior are just absolute garbage in Torghast. Wasted many hours.
Hunter - Freshly leveled. Beast Master. 226 greens from Zereth Mortis. 200 ilvl conduits from vendor. No legendaries. No tier. Bought 60 Renown from Vendor. Cleared layer 8 and took 0 damage the entire run because of 100% uptime on Aspect of the turtle. Didn't have to do any mechanics or move. 0 skill required. Watched TV the whole time.(##RESPBREAK##)272##DELIM##Uchur##DELIM##

Bro eles (and enhs, I guess), do this as resto! Even if you can't play a healer, just like me, give it a try. Restos do it solo, and it's easy!
Craft a leggo that gives your stone golem extra Earthquake. For the first set of animas you need Spirit Link (Pure Elemental Core, two are even better) and another golem quake (Deeptremor, it stacks with your leggo). Kill first two mobs (shock - lava - chain and so, can also hex one), get your Bottle of Maelstrom (if not, reset and search for the animas once again).
For the first large pack you go: BL - golem - Healing Rain - Spirit Link (maybe Transfusion if you're fae). Kick fears, also stun with Capacitor or heal with Riptide / Healing Tide / Healing Stream if needed. Don't forget to dodge stuff, you might get some pretty crappy combos that hit hard.
If you die, wait for your cds and try once again, you do have a few extra lives needed to go through that first floor (I lost 3 lives to get to the second floor, didn't die any more).
For the further animas you get, choose extra Maelstrom Bottles, Deadened Earth (- golem cd, two copies max), +% hp, and also whatever you personally like (I seemed to like Bloodgorged Leech, idk if it really worked - as said before, I suck as resto).
Spent a few evenings trying this as ele with or without party (I can play ele, I swear!), never got past the second floor, felt hopeless.
Did it as resto in a few hours, the end of story.

This is how I soloed it as a rogue:
I came back after 4 months, finished campaign, got that 265 unity belt and decided I'm up for a challenge.
Outlaw 3/2/3/3/3/2/2 with Unity belt and Celerity ring, 256 ilvl, no tier pieces.
Kyrian (was renown 60) - Kleia:
潜伏胜机
万全准备
休养疗伤
心灵手巧
回响
浓缩的心能之球
Now what I would do was enter the Gauntlet and fish for
轰鸣之击
and
鸣响厄运
- those 2 are absolutely necessary to have a shot at finishing. If only 1 appeared it'd have to be the latter and I would try to obtain some other really strong ones and fish for the epic one by the end of the level, but usually I would reset the Gauntlet and try getting both right at the start.
Once those were obtained, I would aim for
无休玛瑙晶簇
or at least
水银混合物
, obviously the former being the main goal.
After that, the obvious dmg upgrades
牛刀小试
and
多面手
along with
滑溜溜的幽魂绳索
so we get that sweet CDR that allows us to spam the hook and fish for buffs.
瓶装谜团
was suuuper helpful as it allows you to kite and makes some of the enemies completely helpless against you.
After that I would aim for rounding up the build, so more defensive, utility and dmg powers:
预警卷轴
最终之刃
连绵锁链联结
and
精力影尘
were the powers I would aim for.
1st 2-3 floors are obviously the hardest with the 1st one being absolutely the worst - I've soloed layer 8 twice and on my 1st completion I died 4 times on the 1st floor, but didn't die for the rest of the layer and carried that 1 life remaining till the very end, so don't get discouraged if you die twice or thrice on the 1st floor - it's all good as long as you get the right powers that will definitely carry you through the rest of the layer!
Now for the gameplay:
1st floor - I would enter, fish for the aforementioned duo power, if successful or at least got the reset power + something good I would continue. Once you have the
鸣响厄运
at the very least, you basically spam the Echoing Reprimand + finishers, whilst weaving in some Ghostly Strikes occasionally. When you feel overwhelmed, pop your defensives and aim for killing at least 1 big threat, then hook away, Vanish and wait for your abilities to come off CD's. After that, repeat the process - aim for 1 particular threat, nuke it, hook away and Vanish. This is the part I was dying the most during my runs, but I would always try to take at least 1 boss down with me.
Floors 2-8: Get your
无休玛瑙晶簇
so you can start each encounter by hooking in, using Echoing Reprimand from stealth and going ham. If necessary, kite away (this is where
瓶装谜团
shines) or reset with Vanish. Keep your Blade Flurry up, keep using hook for evasions, cloaks, feints and vials and feed the enemies your animacharged finishers. It isn't super fast (floor 8 took me 3.5 and 4 mins with overall DPS at around 130k - 150k for full layer), but it works.
I hope some fellow rogues will find it helpful, best of luck!

A bit off topic, but is there any way to view achievements by character? For example I have 5 characters and I forget which layers of Jailer's Gauntlet I've completed with each of them. Don't want to re-do layers that I've already done. For some reason in 9.2.5, when you queue for Jailer's Gauntlet it no longer has the checkmark indicating which floors you've completed.

Solo'd as 278 Prot Paladin. It sucks.
Try as hard as possible to get through floor 1 and 2, after that it get's much easier. (Although I had 0 deaths remaining by the time I finished floor 8)
Holy Shield: Does more healing than you think
First Avenger: MUST. Does 60% of healing easily
Blinding Light: I used as a group stun/interrupt/panic
Unbreakable Spirit: Get divine shield CD as low as possible, combine with 60% CD reduction spell from mobs
Divine Purpose: I got Seraphim near the start, so seemed better
Consc Ground: Slows enemies (Great if you get the larger jump + obscuring mist)
Righteous Protector: quicker CD, get Sanctified Wrath from mob drops if it comes up
LEGENDARIES:
Unity + Seal of Righteous Fury (damage is huge!)
Tips:
Try get the obscuring mist, running around spamming Judgment can help when they cant attack you.
The extra jump is great just dont jump off the ledges
Learn which adds stun, fear, reduced health etc.
Honestly, if you've gotten to Layer 8 you know what you are doing. you need SHEER LUCK as to get past the 1st floor, once I did I could to floor 8

Finally got this achievement today solo as a Demo Warlock. Ilvl 285.
This has got to be the worst version of a “challenge mode” they’ve put into the game in recent memory. The Jailer’s Gauntlet, especially at layers 5 and above, takes almost zero skill, and instead relies almost entirely on RNG with powers and spawns. Sure, decent gear is definitely needed for the first couple of floors, but it’s mainly about getting lucky with the correct anima powers and hoping you don’t get 3 bosses that can chain-cc you to death.
Here’s my advice for layer 8 for fellow warlocks, but this will also help with the lower floors too:
Firstly, when you enter, keep restarting until you are able to obtain:
1)
地狱亲和契约
2)
灵魂拼盘
3)
术士的交易
You can technically substitute
灵魂拼盘
for
黑暗低语印记
if you want to restart less, but
灵魂拼盘
is the more superior of the two anima powers.
Once you have these three powers, kill the two non-elite Foresworn in the centre of the room. Just Fear the Elite that spawns and check out the two anima powers that appear from the mobs.
You must get at least one
厚皮契约
as the worst part about floors 1 and 2 is your pet being unable to pick up aggro on everything without getting slaughtered. The other anima power is hopefully something at least half-decent. If it’s another
厚皮契约
you’ve hit the jackpot, but getting
充血水蛭
is also great.
It’s now decision time. If you didn’t get at least one
厚皮契约
, I’d just run out and restart. You’re probably wasting your time to try and continue as your pet will probably just keep dying when the bosses start spawning. The elite that you feared will also drop an anima power, but when it get’s to ~50% HP the next wave of adds will spawn so you have to work fast. Pop all CDs and drums when the new wave spawns, kill that elite and pick up the anima power - hopefully it’s not useless.
From here on out it’s all about what spawns from the portals and hopefully getting decent anima powers. You just need to get lucky. For spawns, if you get elites and bosses that don’t have a crap-ton of cc, it should be fine. If you get the elites and bosses that all fear or stun or spawn adds or have abilities you constantly need to run from, you’re gonna have a bad time. For anima powers, getting
厚皮契约
and
充血水蛭
should be a priority as both of these are game-changers.
血渍匕首
is also great for the earlier floors and
奥伯勒隆之耐
is all-around good. Hopefully you don’t get too many of the completely useless anima powers as that can be infuriating when you’re on a roll. Also in terms of anima powers - NEVER take
污血之瓶
. Not only does it not reduce the cooldown of Tyrant if you’re using Wilfred’s, but losing ~10% of you HP every ~1 second is a recipe for disaster.
It’s not a massive deal if you die on floor 1, but remember you only have 5 extra lives so you must be able to progress at least a little before each time you die. When you die remember to wait for all CDs to be back up before pulling again. On the run I finished, I got really lucky with my first two anima powers, getting
厚皮契约
and
血渍匕首
. I also good lucky spawns on floor 1 with no fearing elites or bosses and was able to get through with only dying 3 times, saving 2 extra lives for floor 2, which I needed as I died twice there.
Once you get to floor 3, it’s pretty much GG. You should have so many anima powers that everything just disintegrates before you, but don’t get cocky. Always ensure you have a portal and gateway down to get away from abilities and watch for interrupts - especially the fear casts.
Only other advice I’d give it to have patience whilst waiting for the perfect run, whilst not getting frustrated about getting cc-chained to oblivion (happens a lot). Sometimes there’s just nothing you can do /shrug.
Good luck all. If you don’t want the aggro of grinding this now, I’m sure you’ll be able to come back next expansion and blitz through it!

Finally managed to complete this as a druid. I play Balance as my main, and in the end I finished layer 6 as a boomkin. Spent maybe an hour trying layer 7, but honestly I never even got close to finishing the first floor. I'm not gonna call this achievement impossible for a boomkin, but you'd need extreme gear/luck/skill.
Instead want you want to do is go Guardian. My tanking gear is 12 ilvls lower than my balance gear, but it's still the superior choice. I heard from the druid discord that venthyr Guardian is extremely easy if you get the right powers, but as night fae it's still very rough at least. You're pretty much gonna rely on mass spreading moonfire to proc full moons. This will be about 40% of your damage. Ursoc's Fury Remembered is mandatory to be able to survive. It did 50% of my healing. Once you got the preparations done, you're pretty much gonna reset first floor until you get the right type of enemies fighting you. Most of the time you end up with a bunch of casters/fearers/stunners, and that just doesn't work early on. Also watch out for the many knockbacks whenever you are on a platform type of map. The number of times I got knocked off...

It took me many tries but I managed to
solo
it eventually as
Guardian Druid Night Fae
with Feral 302 ilvl gear with 9.2
2-Set
(I didn't even try as Feral and I don't like playing Venthyr). It all comes down to RNG unfortunately.
The first layer is definitely the hardest and requires you to get lucky animas and mobs that don't fear/stun that often. Dodge everything you can (some abilities will stun you and that can cause a wipe.)
Uninterrupted fear is your worst enemy
. Make sure to rotate Skull Bash, Incapacitating Roar, Mighty Bash and even Typhoon to interrupt the mobs.
The
talents
I went with are:
Brambles - always some extra damage and later I was drowning in Rage, so no need for Blood Frenzy. It did only 2,3% of my damage and 1,7% healing, at the end I had infinite Barkskin so it was quite nice
Renewal - just in case, saved my butt a couple of times
Balance Affinity - for range and Typhoon
Mighty Bash - just in case. Some people take Mass Entanglement and that works too. Heart of the Wild is bad (there's a high chance you'll find an anima that grants permanent HOTW anyway)
Galactic Guardian
- I can't emphasize how groundbreaking this talent was
Survival of the Fittest - shorter CD for Barkskin and Survival Instincts proved much more useful than Earthwarden (you can tank most physical damage with just Ironfur), later I got Earthwarden, but it was at the very end
Rend and Tear - the other two aren't worth it
Of course the go-to legendary is
Ursoc's Fury Remembered
for the insane absorb.
I did not use any consumables apart from
Eternal Augment Rune
, and remember to repair whenever you can.
I used
Enforcer's Stun Grenade
for the Vers (I wouldn't go with Sigil here, Grenade syncs with 2 minute Berserk perfectly) and Hateful Chain (it did little damage and little healing, so I'm sure there's a much better trinket to use, like
Cache of Acquired Treasures
(for the bleed) or
Reactive Defensive Matrix
.
I did not owlweave at any point. There was a lot of kiting and moving around the entire arena.
I ended up with 122
Anima Powers
, most notable:
Orbit Breaker
- Every 20th Moonfire tick calls down a Full Moon upon it's target. - Don't even bother going if you don't get this at the entrance, leave and try again. This, along with Galactic Guardian did most of my damage (more than Thrash) - you cast moonfire (or it casts itself) and just watch as Full Moon obliterates everything. If you get overwhelmed by mobs or #$%^ on the ground, Typhoon/Dash/Soulshape to create distance and continue spamming Moonfire on everything.
Circlet of Weeds
- Your damage and heal over time effects occur 33% more quickly. - Similiarly, don't go without it, it makes Orbit Breaker even stronger.
Draught of Midnight Blazes
- While Moonfire or Rake are on at least 3 targets, your damage and healing are increased by 50% - It works great with Galactic Guardian.
These are the ones I started with.
Obleron Endurance
- I went full defensive and ended up with 24 of those (360% increase). I had
1071k health
in Bear Form by the end.
Affinity Stones
- I took that for passive Feral Affinity speed boost and Ysera's Gift (which did 10% of my healing).
Cloak of Thorns
- At the end you'll pretty much have infinite Barkskin, so it's a must have. It did 6% of my overall damage (5th place in Details).
Strings of Fangs and Talons
- More Thrash damage is always welcome, I had 3 by the end (60% increase).
Coalesced Spirit Droplet
- Obviously, you want to reduce Convoke's cooldown as much as possible (I started with 2 minute CD, reduced to 1 minute by the end).
Draught of Waning Twilight
- Nice damage increase, especially with the mobs you need to focus and get down quickly, The effects are Thrash, Moonfire and Infected Wounds (from Mangle or Maul).
Bottle of Moonshine
- I had 2 by the end, 20% damage reduction from pretty much all mobs thanks to Galactic Guardian is great (combined with Barkskin it's 40%!)
Plague-Hardened Hide
- Not really necessary, as you'll have tons of Rage to spend on Ironfur, but good when you need to shift out of Bear Form to run away (which I did,
a lot
).
Moon-Spirit Essence
- An absolute must-have (it didn't drop for me, I bought it from the vendor), it reduces Berserk's CD to 2 minute, thus syncs with most trinkets (Grenade here) and lets you get that sweet huge absorb from Thrash, while also cleaving everything down.
Elethium Teardrop
- We don't use Frost abilities, so it's a free damage and healing boost from crits.
Archdruid's Mythos
- Always good to have Earthwarden.
Lycara's Bargain
- It's a tricky one, for you have to time your Dash to stay alive, but definitely doable.
Frigid Wildseed
- This was a life-saver. Not only did I escape any *!@# on the ground, but I gained another interrupt, in the form of AOE stun.
Cosmic Tremor
- This helped
a lot
with interrupts/CCs. Also some mobs hit like a truck (especially when buffed by things like Predator's Gaze) so that definitely helped.
Suffused Noble Writ
- We can dispel Curses and Poisons, but this definitely helped with all the nasty Magic debuffs.
Smuggled Wildseed
- Syncs wonderfully with Frigid Wildseed, thus reduces AOE stun CD.
Bloodgorged Leech
- I had 3 of these by the end, and they did 5% of my overall healing. Definitely helped and I could focus more on dodging stuff than healing myself.
And finally...
Lycara's Sash
- this Anima Power was
groundbreaking
for me because of it's wonderful synergy with our 2-set. Here's how it works: Every time you leave Bear Form, you cast Barkskin. When you cast Barkskin, your 2-set activates Berserk for 4 seconds, shifting you back into Bear Form instantly, giving 4 free seconds to spam Thrash and get tons of absorb
AND
it casts Frenzied Regeneration. All of this in a single GCD. This was a key to my success. This gives you infinite Barkskin (use it every 4 seconds and you'll never leave Bear Form). What's even better, this whole sequence counts as a Shapeshift, meaning that if you took Lycara's Bargain, it will remove the movement speed debuff! What's EVEN better, if you shapeshift into Moonkin instead of just out of Bear, you get a free Starfall! Infinite Starfall! I swear, by the end my Bear was
glittering
from all the buffs.
Other than those I mainly took flat stat increase, then extra damage dealers (like Lightning Dust), then phantasma.
In conclusion,
Barkskin
and
Moonfire
are your best friends. Good luck, fellow bears! I now happily leave Torghast and hope to never return.

In Dragonflight this is much much easier. I was able to one-shot jailer's gauntlet layer 8 as solo balance druid ilevel 351.
You still need to know your class and pick up the right powers, but at least it's possible now. (Was totally impossible as solo balance druid during shadowlands)

Some classes just couldn't do this in SL. It didn't matter what borrowed power you had or what ilvl (for SL) or talents or whatever. For some classes it was objectively impossible to do. Now in DF, it's actually possible. So get er done!
