Seriously, if your going to lose, don't turlte in your base with 9 people around you trying to prolong the game, it's a serious waste of time.

Just a small note: the purpose of WSG is to capture the other factions flag. It is NOT a deathmatch and going for high HKs or even KBs is actually NOT the purpose of the BG. If you find yourself in a PUG, support your flag carrier - resist the urge to run off and kill that opponent who is down at 2% if it means your flag carrier will die.

You can also, like other BGs, join as battlemasters at Capital Cities.
Getting the flag, and defending your own, is the most important aspect of WSG.
You cannot win by killing; in fact, if you just do this, you will probably lose. Killing a person may be nice, but winning is even better - you get far more honour and joy. It is a game of Capture the Flag, but there is a lot more invovled, and strategy is required to win. Level is not the most important aspect, it's teamwork.
- Defence is usually overlooked, as it seems ineffective.
However, if properly defended (with hunters' traps, stealthed rogues, etc), the flag can be impossible to take. 5 people are enough to defend, but if there are less there is no point in any defence - the group is just too small.
- Getting the flag is obviously the most important thing, and the two best Flag Carriers are Druids (because of fast travel form) and Paladins (because of bubbling and high survivability). However, level is more important. Do not be selfish and take the flag as a level 40, when there is a level 49 just behind you who is a far better candidate.
- Supporting the Flag Carrier is essential.
A player cannot run all the way solo pursued by 10 enemies. There are many ways to help, one of the most obvious is healing. Others including stunning, dazing, freezing, sheeping, sapping, etc. Actually killing the chasers is the last resort, as your primary goal is defending the flag carrier. Killing that little gnome or slow tauren may result in exposure of the flag carrier. When the flag has been scored, THEN turn and kill them.
-Get the flag back!
Another crucial point - you cannot score if the enemy has your flag. A 5 man group is usually efficient to hunt down the flag, with 5 left to defend Flag Carrier. Do not just kill, you haven't scored yet. Remember the poor FC who is standing there, waiting for you to get the flag back - don't disappoint by farming HKs. If you find it, say where it is, and wait for backup - even if you die, your team will know where it is approximately. Do not try to get it back all by yourself, unless you are a super twink.

Also teamwork is a must. Druids are the best flag runners due to their ability to escape snares and run fast in travel form! Also protect them at all costs.

10-19 WSG are usually the messiest with no teamwork, becos people dont know how to play..
But at higher levels, people do know how to play and so they will get the flag in a group, and defend, and try to return flags.
There are two ways of defense. One is to defend midfield and prevent the enemy from getting to your base. This is hard, becos there is such a large area to defend. Its more feasible at 40+ when people have mounts. The other is just to stay in your flag room and defend there, but a mage flag taker can easily frost nova everyone and blink away.

Rogues are broken (in a good way) in WSG! First, run down the left tunnel, grab the speed pickup, drink a Swiftness Potion (increases run speed by 50%), and sprint the rest of the way down your opponents' tunnel. It will be on your right side, and take another right inside the tunnel to get on the roof. Use stealth there, then drop down (ouch) to the floow with their flag. Grab the flag and run back to your base fast as you can! And, if they haven't taken their own speed pickup yet, grab it, and your on your way to a fast, easy flag capture.

Hey,
Alrighty boys 'n' gals, this'll be my "Battle Plan" for Warsong Gulch.
You split up into three teams. Two teams of 3, one team of 4. Make sure each team has someone capable of healing, and someone capable of taking damage. (Ex. Warrior, pally, or druid.)
A druid or a warrior with a pally has to be in the group of 4. These are your flag runners. Usually, one side will just run down to your base, as the other does the same, in this case, one side will run down to the enemy base while 4 do the same. The will go in, pick up the flag, attempt to make it back alive, and stick around the graveyard until capable of capture.
The other two groups. One will be by teh ramp, the otheron the lower level by teh graveyard, and these two teams will be your defenders. The one by the graveyard is supposed to cut off the enemy if they get too close. The other is to defend the ramp, and help the other team if the enemy is all heading for the one group of three. By the time the group of three is dying/succeeding, the group of four should be back and the flag runner will run up while the others stave off the attack. Rinse, wash, repeat.
I hope that helps. :)

Premades/Tactics
///NOTE: These are tactics/groups as I see it, These may not be the most effective and I welcome critisicm
First lets form a group
2 Druids (Prefferably Feral)
2 Priests (Prefferably Holy/Spirit)
2 Mages (No Preferance // Ice is nice)
1 Rogues (On Defense with Crippling unless Prep Specced)
2 Shamans (Totems and Frost Shock Constantly)
1 Hunters (Depends on DPS Capability, Def Preffered)
The druids will be the flag carriers in most cases due to their ability to remove slowing effects via Polymorph and their Travel form when outdoors, These druids should prefferably be feral specced. The Priests will mainly be healing but can throw in a psychic scream to throw opposition off the Flag Carrier. The mages will be flag carrier support/DPS preferrably Ice Specced mages, but any will do. The Rogue can either be put on Defense with Crippling Poison or on Flag Carrier Midfield Support. The Shamans will stay Midfield primarily, supporting flag carrier when needed. The Hunter would do nicely on defense. I would have a rogue and hunter on defense, as well as a shaman if necessary.
The object, aside from capturing the flag, is keep the opposition midfield but maintaining an effective offense at the same time. In a perfect situation the opposition will have Approximately 3 on defense unless theyre turtling the rest will be all out offense. Take a frost mage a druid and a priest ramp side up to the second level, have the druid grab the flag and exit as according to reports from your midfield team. With two on defense and three of offense that leaves 5 midfield, a priest, a mage, a druid, and two shamans forming a self sustaining group whos objective is to try to keep the opposition midfield as much as possible and support the flag carriers on their exit
Situations change and tactics should be adjusted to accomodate these changes however this strategy as posted should be effective, please comment

When hiding flag, stay absolutely still. This makes the flag near impossible to see. If you move, it makes a massive trail which allows all the enemy players near you see it.
Running with the flag requires skill in itself. Although people should support you, if you run like an idiot you'll still die.
The best runners are druids, due to their increased speed in movement, and ability to shift out and heal themselves. Other good runners may be shamans, paladins and priests - any healing class.
When running, stick to the sides of the map. Running down the centre makes you more obvious. If there is a large group of enemy coming which hasn't seen you yet, hide temporarily. Charging in will lose your flag.
Listen to other people's advice, especially from defenders. If they tell you to go ramp, that means there is a lot of enemy in the tunnel. So go by the ramp.
Don't attack other players, unless they are right in front of you and it is easy for you to kill. Don't stray off your path just to finish off that level 40, because right after then a group of lvl 49s will hack you down, because you gave them time to catch up. Stay focussed - your aim is to score with the flag.
Remember that just because you have the flag, you haven't scored, there is still a long way to go, including getting your own flag back first if it is taken.

This is the one and only BG I've tried. After it was over I asked aloud "Why would you people do this to yourself?". It was chaos. Other toons killing me in 2 hits. respawn then die again. Woopie! The most fun I had was standing by the flag on "guard duty".
Eh don't get me wrong, when i wasn't getting owned by 3 opposing toons and it was just me and a Rogue going toe to toe it was fun but wow I can't see how people can do it for hours and hours.
Oh well, probably explains why I love PVE so much.

A small guide to killing twinks ...
Make sure you atleast have the following,
A mage, a priest, a hunter, then either a paladin or a shaman.
Warlock is optional but REALLY helpful, so helpful it could be considered mandatory.
Ok, with a shaman get the shaman to get the guy to attack them.
When the twink engages, have him hit earthbind, then run.
Bubble him before the twink tears him up, then have the mage use frostbolt, then nuke it.
Make sure the hunter uses concusion shot right after frostbolt.
Purge all his buffs, then make sure he always is slowed.
Shamans, use flame shock and searing totem.
spam earthshock afterwards.
Priests, use shadow word pain then smite him, while keeping team alive.
Hunters, keep auto-shooting, with an occasional serpent shot, mana shot, or concussion.
Warlocks, corruption, curse of agony, Immolate.
After a little of kiting he'she'it should go down.
As for paladins, same thing but put pally bubble up when he starts hitting then let teamates slow him down.

On my nightelf hunter i found a defensive tactic which was very effective in that i would hide my pet behind the flag against one of the side walls (If you have a cat that can prowl very preferable) Than of course put down ice trap, than finaly shadow meld against the front wall so you can see anyone entering from above/left/right while they themselves cannot see you. =D

Okay:
"Getting the flag is obviously the most important thing, and the two best Flag Carriers are Druids (because of fast travel form) and Paladins (because of bubbling and high survivability)."
Paladin CAN`T use shields while having the flag. The other thing is that Paladins really are very hard to kill but they dont have any skill/skills that would improve their speed. (talents aren`t counted((pursuit of justice))).
Suggestions: Use mainly druid for taking flag.
Warrior or paladin when you have someone to heal flag carrier.
I believe that good hunter could take flag too with aspect of cheetah(lookout for dazing) and freezing trap.
Sometimes even mage or rogue could take the flag:
Mage uses blink, frost nova and mana shield, fire shield etc.
Rogue is weak but could take the flag easily by using 2x sprint(sprint-> premitation-> new sprint). If afflicted by frost nova: vanish recapture the flag.
Priest uses shield, inner fire, and fear. Not sure if that works.
Haven`t played too much with a shaman so can`t say for sure but I think that with wearing shield using frost shock and earthbind totem it might work too. Warlocks pwn in PvP but I really dont recoment using warlock as a flag carrier.
If I said something wrong make sure that you correct my text.
Thank you. -Pawler

Avoid the 10-19 Brackets at all cost: Twinks galore.
But there is no true definition of a battle plan. In your average PuG, most people will storm to mid-field with some going for the flag.
The best thing you can do is stick together and actually assist each other. It pains me to see yet another priest in Shadowform while he could be healing our main attackers. Also, a big group storming towards you isn't something the average player charges into. In Warsong, Zerg is the answer(Or a skilled rogue/cat druid).
Once someone has picked up the flag, don't stick around mid-field; Clear the way for him. Snare enemies, heal him, pwn some annoying rogues etc.
As for defenses: Good luck =) You'll need it.
A Frost Trap does the job quite well, as do a set of rogues with cripling poisons.
So Conclusion: Don't be a hero, make your team the Hero(and if you're lucky, you'll end in first place of the team).

If you have a 60 - 70 main, you have not explored one of the funnest aspects of the game if you have not built a 19 twink for WSG. Blizzard has not nerfed many of the twink items because it is a viable part of the game. I have played many battlegrounds at different levels and never had as much fun as running a 19 twink, especially when both sides of the battle are fully twinked. Yes there are a ton of 19 twinks, just make sure you get in a group (guess that's what twink guilds are for).

As in all Battlegrounds, teamwork is a very essential aspect to WSG.
One method that seems to work well, especially with team members that are well equipped for PvP, is moving together as one giant group.
Sticking together will work wonders, as well as push the enemy back and overwhelm them. Once you get to the tunnel, you can either move in as a group or split the team into halves with one half going for the flag and the other waiting outside the tunnel.
This plan, if carried out effectively, works well even without defense. As long you stick together and grab the flag, you can retrieve your flag from the enemy on the way back.

Couple of things you cant do with the flag.
1. Druids in cat form and rogues you can't stealth or turn invisible. (includes invisibilty potions)
2. You cannot use a mount of any type.
3. If you are a paladin you cannot use divine shield or blessing of protection
4. Also if you are a paladin you cannot put blessing of protection on someone else. It wil say you can not use that now. Instead use blessing of freedom.
Doing any of these things will cause you to drop the flag and in most cases cause your team to lose a point.

When all of the fighting is going on in front of the opponents main base entrance, it is easy to sneak into a side entrance and attempt to snatch the flag from under their noses.

One of the most important aspects of the battlegrounds is team distribution. If you have a good team (Keep in mind a lot of pug's may not listen to or follow a plan.), I recommend you split your group into a group of 4 and two groups of 3. Make sure the bg leader organizes the parties so that everyone is partied with the people they will be working with, and that there is a healer in every group.
The group of 4, and one of the groups of 3 will be staying in midfield. This means they can be both offense and defense. They can stop the enemies from crossing over to your side, and in the event that someone does get the flag, you can easily intercept him on his way back. If you were in the base, but didn't see the carrier, you wouldn't know which way he went, however out in midfield, you'll be able to see him whether he jumps off the gy, goes out the tunnel, or down the ramp. Also if one of the groups is in trouble, the other group can come assist them.
The most important aspect of teamwork, and I cannot stress this enough, is to FOCUS FIRE. That means everybody needs to attack the same target. Call out targets, so everybody knows who needs to be downed first. Healers, classes with weak armor/hp, and classes with nasty crowd control are often prime targets. Make sure to support your buddies as well. If one of your group members is being focused on, heal them! Having a good healer is like having 2 dps'ers. Also if the flag is taken, you should ping the map and tell everybody in bg chat where he is. COMMUNICATE.
The capturing team dosn't need to worry so much about killing the enemies that try to get their flag back, as slowing them down so the carrier can escape. Snare, root, stun, and fear them if you have the proper crowd control, and keep healing the carrier. Stay close to the carrier at all times, if he dies, you need to grab the flag and keep going.
While this is happening, one of the midfield groups should be moving toward your enemies' base to help the carrier get home by healing him, and killing or hampering your foes' progress. Once you can slow all the enemies to the point where they are half the field's length behind you, its usually a walk in the park to get it home.
So overall, stay together, attack the targets that are being attacked, heal your buddies, and never yell at your team. Yelling at them makes a loss even worse. Keep in mind that new players, and stubborn players may not listen to you, even if your ideas are better. If 8 people are turtling inside your base, advise them to move out, but don't be a jerk about it. Follow these steps, and your on your way to becoming a great pvp'er.

OK, first off, I'm not a twink...2nd, I'm a BM spec hunter...and 3rd a good defense can make or break trip through WSG. I stay in the Flagroom, use flare to show any rogues, frost trap to slow the enemy, and my pet as an extra DPSer. But the biggest thing I contribute is my tracking ablities, any time someone is getting close I announce how many and where. Granted I have never been on top of the DPS, kills, or flag cap list, but it's about winning...who cares if the last time you pvp'd, YOU did 50 million damage...the last time I went, WE won. To win it takes a TEAM working as one. Just my opinion...Happy Hunting.

A note to the l33t:
Please bear in mind that everyone playing in the BG has not necessarily "been playing since beta". As a casual player, I am not "teh hardcorez". I am learning. I have not been honing my skills on "teh Haloz" or TFC. Yes, I know I have half the hitpoints of the rest of you. That will improve as I get new gear, which is very likely the same reason you are here. Berating me or patronizing me about my skills, or lack thereof, is helping no one. The new people are easy to identify. (We die quickly and often.) If you can't give the new people constructive criticism or useful advice, then SHUT YOUR CAKEHOLE.

If you find your team and the other team with opposite flags, it is best to send a good sized gruope to retrieve your factions flag. Otherwise it will be a very long and boring game. Plus, this one time, I was killed by a level 25 when I was a 29. How? Because his or her character was buffed up with spells and abilities. So it is very important to buff yor own teamates for it might be the difference between victory and defeat.

This battleground recieved some changes with the recent 2.4 patch.
When both factions are holding the flag, the flag carries will automatically recieve a debuff after ten minutes that increases the damage done to them by 50%. After 5 more minutes, this debuff will increase to 100% done. (It won't increase anymore after this.) This means that damage dealt to the players holding the flag will be doubled, making it close to impossible for healers to outheal some decent nuke. This is to prevent Warsong Gulch from lasting several hours.
Also, flag carriers can now be tracked on everyone's map 45 seconds after the flag has been picked up.

As stated above, that a good healer is like 2 dps'ers, is very very true.
I did lots of bg yesterday. We won three times in a row. One time, we would have lost, if we didn't have two good healers at our base. A rogue in our team, had the flag, was standing at the roof, the plateau where you get via ramp and like 7 horde were hitting him. All horde focussed on the rogue, but he didn't die because of the healing. Meanwhile, me and 3 other dps'ers, could kill the horde, because they only focussed on the FC. If they would've killed the healers. we would've lost (2-2 at that moment).
Anyway, because so many horde were focussing at our FC, two or three of our team, could go to Horde camp, where our flag was, and they killed him. Everyone of us, nuked the Horde that were trying to kill our FC, FC put flag in place and we won. =)
Three times in a row, with focussed fire. All work together. =)
Oh btw, one of those two healers, healed for 107k over 43 minutes. That's like more than 2,5k per minute.

a good tactic is to take 2 rouges and go next to the flag in stealth mode then one of them takes the flag and runs using 1 of the exits he uses sprint but anyway next to the exit the other team kills him. When they restore the flag the 2 rouge runs through the other exit. The more rouges you use the more effective this tactic is. note that subtlety rouges are way better for this cause they have the preparation which enables them to use sprint twice.

Here is by FAR the best strategy in WSG (If you just want marks, honor and fun at laughing at other peoples "hurtful" comments.)
(This is for lvl 80 people, but you can replace the "tank" with a twink of sorts.)
1. Get yourself a tank (with high def + hp etc) and some healer buddies, vent adds to the fun factor.
2. Make sure your tank gets the flag. This is the most important part of the plan.
3. Get your healers and tanks and the rest of the bunch into the opposing teams GY.
4. Farm them till they /afk quit. This might take up to 15-20 minutes, so you'll have Brutal attack debuff (+100% more dmg and you can have a maximum of 100% movement speed), so you'll definetly need a good healer or two.
5. Watch how everyone calls you a noob etc (This might only happen at the 20-29 bracket i'm doing it in, lvl 80s might be better sports about this.) I mean, i've never had so much fun while playing wow as when i was looking at how these people were "reporting me" ;).
Enjoy, and ruin the day of the opposing team!

This battleground is a simple game of 'capture the flag', only with lions, guns, and axes. Everyone knows how to play: Capture the other teams flag, run it across the field without dying, or losing it (Feigning Death, mounting, etc) and get it to your base. If the other team has the flag, you cannot return yours or capture your flag until the other team drops it, by killing the flag holder. The Alliance side seems to be similiar to Teldrassil, or Ashenvale, while the Horde side of the field is based off The Barrens look.
In the little huts and houses on the sides of the battleground, there's usually a speed, health, or enragement buff that you just run into to gain. The graveyards are high above the ground, and you jump off to start your run after you die (unless you want to go the long way around)
This is the first battleground that any player can enter at level 10, and there's a limit to 10 players a side. Good luck:)

In cases where the pugs have decided to go turtle/ or be midfield hk nubs here are a few ninja tactics to help you out to getting your 3 marks.
1. always exit via upper ramp. this allows you the greatest vision as to how to get past midfield and opens up many avenues to run out of. it is often very easy to get caught at tunnel by some gy respawn that is looking for an easy hk.
2. always pick up boots going for the flag. this will often put the just out of obvious sight people at a severe disadvantage in catching up when leaving.
3. spam any instant cc or snare you have on anyone who MIGHT chase you so long as you don't have to go too far out of the way.
4.if the gy respawn runs straight forward, if any, and there was no visible D go mid out the gy. ramp is far easier to get to unnoticed and it is will be harder for the next spawn to see you due to how there seems to be alot of vegitation at about halfway.(this is assuming there are either:a. massive battle in midfield that you can run behind or b. the enemy is camping underneath your gy)
5.burn the speed pot/boost, if you have any, once you hit midfield as that is where you are most vulnerable to being spotted.
6. if it does not put you at high risk of being cc'd into submission go tunnel as it is faster to your flag and requires fewer people to help (generally the people that are KoS by the enemy are the ones who end up fullfilling this)
7. Listen to what the competent players are saying of midfield and exit tunnel ONLY if a group has cleared out the trash there and is waiting to help.
when running group ninja to get to a flag because the O doesn't have enough to get threw D as one big group. the first ninja should go out threw the gy and have just enough backup to make it a plausable run with alot of luck. if they don't make it out of the efr wait till respawn if you can and try again. if they make it just enough out of the flagroom that the range dps is has also left then go tunnel. if the first ninja made it to mid the second runner should exit ramp (or gy if the first runner went rampside instead). in this situation you save the boots for the person that exits tunnel.
if you are attempting to assist a succesful clean ninja the best thing you can do is cc alot of people near you and try to get as close as you can to under the egy area as it will
1)draw undo attention to yourself(kinda like a player taunt)
2) you essentially help form a "dam" that will spill over with respawn but usually not until the flag carrier is very far downfield if they are competent.
please remember that this advice is to be used SPARINGLY otherwise you will end up with many wasted trips to the gy, entertaining the enemy D and making sure your team doesn't get the flag.

a bit of warning to newer players, try to come here as late as you can, as the lower level ladders are DOMINATED by twinks.
the 10-19 ladder usually has 3-4 alliance twink rogues in each round, it's no fun for newer horde players who were told battlegrounds were fun.

try goin ramp when u pick up flag and stay on the sides and try avoiding enemies. It is easier as hunter with track humanoid. Try running into ur group to protect u and capture flag. But if they have ur flag i recommend 6 things.
1. Give to someone with more hp to hold flag while u retrieve flag.
2. Go to graveyard for some protection.
3. Run around the base and not settle in one area so rogues can get u.
4.Hide on the roofing above tunnel exit so its difficult to lose flag and if u do it will take long for enemy to get their and return flag.
5. Turtle flag and have some people retrieve flag
6. go to the flag room and enter the tiny room in their and sit with ur back against the corner to hide flag or just get lots of people to sit on top of u so it is hard for them to target u.
-Good luck in bg hope my tip helps

It's like a developer was playing WSG for once in 4 years and said "Wow, this sucks.. let's put a time limit on it."
Despite the slowness of this change, I will actually play WSG now rather than go "Do I want to wait 2 hours just to lose?" Thank you, Blizzard.

to imform u after the next patch warsong gulch will be at max 20 min long or less if its blow out. if the score is 2-2 or 1-1 the winner will be the one with the first flag capture. 0-0 is a tie. Or the one with the most points win. It will still be 10 vs. 10.

What pi$$e$ me off so much about 3.2 is that they added a timer. I was just in here on my level 11 Draenei paladin, and was so close to getting a couple achievements:
https://www.wowhead.com/classic/achievement=199
,
https://www.wowhead.com/classic/achievement=168
, and
https://www.wowhead.com/classic/achievement=166
. I got the final one, but, just as I entered the flag room with the flag, time ran out. I don't see why they felt the need to add a time limit of 20 minutes. It was just fine before, and there's no use in fixing something that isn't broken, right?

I'm a lavel 20 warrior. When I'm in the Battlegrounds it seems everyone there is much higher in level and I seem to die alot. I'm fairly new to this game and I try new things, however this doesn't always sit well with my "teamates", who really don't believe in teamwork unless its to blame a loss on the lower ranking person there, ME. I queuss what I'm trying to say is when you people are fighting in Warsong Gulch be patient with the Noob's they are trying, no one likes to lose but it does and will happen. Aside from that as soon as I understand the concept better (capture the flag) I will probably have more fun. L8ter.

I have one hunter char that I play in WSG currently in the 40-49 group. I have seen alliance win about 50% of the time. Way more than when I played 30-39. Yes it all comes down to working together. I think as players begin to enter more instances they realize that the best way to bring down your opponent is for everyone to concentrate on the same target. The horde at lower level seems to understand this. But the SOLO grinders on alliance side need to learn it.
Often you get the one fellow who runs off alone and is able to stand alone and maybe get a flag who says he don't need any help. Ha! Stupid! If you made it solo its only because the Horde was busy chopping up your fellow players while you ran around!
I very seldom get beaten by a solo horde (even a shaman). With my pet and stun & trap I can hold my own against lvls 2 higher than myself. Problem is I very seldom get to prove that cause that horde member either already has a team mate with him, or one is on the way. I Always love to have at least one other player with me, the more the better! Even when taken out, we take one or two with us!
Alliance is just every man for himself. Period. Take the victory, and credit or take the loss and place the blame.
Horde spend more time in WSG with people they play with often and know how to work with those people.
90% of horde WSG is teams that are used to working together. 90% of Alliance WSG is PUG. Whoevers turn it is in queue.
The horde knows when its up against a good group of alliance players and their whole battle strategy changes! Thats when the game gets really good! Once an alliance group shows its working together. We win a lot more often than we lose!

Imagine everyones surprise when I told them my pet couldn't hold aggro!
I actually have two primary pets. One I use outside the BG's that has dash/bite/claw/growl and one I use INSIDE the BG's that has dash/bite/claw/prowl. NO GROWL! Everyone knows that pets can't hold aggro against a PVP player. Growl only works on computer controlled opponents. Since there are none of those in the BG's, why waist a limited talent spot with growl? Try putting your pet on prowl/aggresive/stay right at the flag while you run upstairs and guard with long-range shot. While your opponent runs around looking for that pets owner, you can get in several cheap shots! And you can still keep Dash to use as you like along with 2 attacks! (bite/claw).
With a limited number of ability slots available on a pet it's best to have two so constant re-training isn't needed. Just don't forget to re-train or pull your non PVP pet out of the stables before doing quests NOT in the BGs! LOL Or you'll be explaining to your team why you pet can't hold aggro! :)

A lot of posters constantly advise that the reason the Horde wins in the WSG so often is because they work together much better than the alliance seems to have the ability to.
Some say its mainly because of the Shaman character alone, with other remarking that Horde heals their group better than we do, or has more magic users.
Even I (recently) have said its the rogues that have an unfair advantage in this short (Capture the Flag) type format and the game has become more of a "recapture" your flag so you can "capture" your opponents.
All of these areas need improvement alliance! Get more healers to come out. More MAGIC! & try your best not to get caught soloing, cause I guarantee you 90% of the time you won't be fighting a 'single' horde memeber. More often 3 or more.
The truth is the main problem is more obvious. LOOK AROUND!
The average lvl of all horde playing in the WSG BG (40-49) is high 48! There are very few if any low level 40's to be seen! The average lvl for alliance is 45 if we're lucky! Its not uncommon at all to find half your 10 players below medum level for that battleground! Tons of low lvl 40's that wouldn't go near a creature 6 levels above them think they can help in the BG's? ONLY if you are a priest!
Do the math, Horde 5-48's, 5-49's prbably half BG Buffed. (Thats higher lvl alts buying & passing along the best possible gear).
Against Alliance 2-49's, 1-47, 4-46's, 1-45, and 2 more 44 or below!
Okay lets group up and have at each other? Who do you think is going to lose? Friends I know this is the way bliz has it set up, and you want to get in the BG's and get PVP poinst. But you'll get more PVP points faster if we WIN in the BGs. So take the time to level up so you can help us win.

One of the best ways to get the flag to your base is (this is mainly for Alliance):
Have a Druid get the flag and use travel form to run across the field (Mages work too since they have Blink). Once the Druid/Mage gets there, have a Paladin or a Warrior take the flag and hide.
My suggestion when hiding is:
If one or two horde find you and try to attack you, once they're killed,
find a new hiding place
. Because knowing horde, they will bring half or more of their team to get you, since they know where you are. Once you have a good hiding place, have at least three people stay with you (need a healer), and then have the rest of the team to go find your flag.
Alliance never look much into this. Hope this opens some eyes and ideas.
Thanks.

Im guessing not alot of people read this, but all the posts seem to have bits of information.
Warsong Gulch (WSG) is available at level 10,and that bracket goes to level 19. Each bracket continues that pattern, 20-29 and etc.
First, I have played Horde and Alliance on the same server (Staghlem) and will tell you, without question the Horde is alot better at WSG than Alliance, becuase mainly, the Alliance likes to zerg. Horde people tend to stick together in 2-3 groups, most of the time, 2.
The object of WSG is to capture (cap) the enemies flag. You accomplish this by running into the opposing base, grabbing the flag , and returning back to your base where your flag stands.
If the opposing team also has your flag, you will not cap. The person who is capping the flag must have their own flag planted. Which is part of the fun of WSG. Not only do you have to attack and grab their flag, you must have people on "defense" or "D" so that they wont come get your flag.
Part of Alliance ( on Staghlem) 's biggest issue , is that they all want to fight in middle field instead of fighting in the horde base. People tend to prefer racking up the number of kills (HK's) as opposed to actually winning the game. People will say that you get more honor from winning, which you do, but alas, people who are parking level 19 characters so they can do 10-19 BG's arent relly concerned about honor, they are there to kill people, and that is their fun. I can accept that.
For all the people who want honor, I would recomend only doing light Battlegrounds until lvl 55 at least. Most of the gear that you can buy from rewards of reputation and rank, etc are minimal lvl 55 req, and the good stuff is all lvl 60. So, unless you just enjoy getiing in a BG once in a while I wouldnt even consider "grinding" rep un til the 50's.
That said, there are a couple ways to que in to a battleground. You can que in from the major cities, and buy your rank reward in Stormwind ( outside SI:7, or Horde in Org. ) You can also que in directly in where they stations are in the zones. WSG is in Ashenvale ( alliance ) or Barrens (horde). Arathi Basin ( Arthai highlands , horde and alliance) or Alterac Valley ( Alterac Mountains for both factions)
To purchse the specific gear for each faction, you have to be at the outposts for each specific encampment. Each level of rep unlocks new gear for you to purchase. Obviuosly, revered and exalted is where the good stuff is. AV is easy to reach max exalted, and AV also has alot of neat quests you can do that are given from NPC's in the encampment in Alterac. I would recomend doing all these quests as soon as you can, as you get good rewards and increased rep bonus for completion.
Hope that helps, see you in AV !

I have run Warsong Gulch (WSG) in 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49 and 50-59 brackets on both Horde and Alliance characters and most classes. My druid probably has more flag captures (caps) than most of the people he BGs (enters a battleground) with has Honorable Kills (HKs.)
Advice for going in as a character:
You will do much better in any BG if you are closer to the top of the level limit so a 29 is going to have an easier time in BGs than a 20. The other thing that will give you an advantage is your gear, having all of the good quest rewards for instances your level and even collecting BG reward gear will help a lot. If you can't find stuff for every armor slot there are usually always deals in the Auction House (AH) especially if you look for green items with the stats you need for your class. If a blue item is 10% better than some other green item, you have to decide if you need that extra edge that will cost more.
At the extreme end of gear are the 'twinks' who have exceptional gear and enchants that are near impossible to get without the help of higher level players. This can include rewards from red instance quests, expensive world drops and expensive enchants. You do not need this to excel in BGs, you can compensate for gear by using skill and knowledge of your class.
The dilemma:
The biggest actual problem with BGs like WSG is that there are no lasting tallies of the objectives. When in an actual battleground, the goal is to complete that BG's objective (capture the flag for WSG), or win! The truth when BGs were introduced to WoW that still holds true post Burning Crusade release is that winning gives you way more honor than collecting HKs. The honor determined your PvP rank (Sr Sgt in under 1k HKs at 39, thank you!) and now it is the pivotal currency to buy the BG rewards. Similar to the prisoner's dilema (google or wikipedia for what the prisoner's dilema is) if a player tries to help win a BG they usually end up with less HKs than if they just try to kill everyone they see anywhere. This leads people to HK pharm (derogatory term for people who only BG to increase their HK count) and lowers the incentive to try and win the game.
Prior to Burning Crusade (BC) the Horde tended to win (at least up to the 59 bracket) WSG a lot more than the Alliance. There are many theories for this and mine include a higher average level in most Horde BG groups and that the average Horde player is likely older and more mature (there are several reasons for this, I do not want to start a flame war about it only to point out that I believe it to be true.) One of the theories was the whole pally vs shaman debate and having played both classes I can tell you that both have advantages in WSG and I think neither is superior. To me it would be like comparing the hunter to the druid (for the sake of WSG) as each of them has distinctly different advantages and disadvantages in WSG.
Post BC, there seems to have been an evening out of sorts although the Horde (up to 59) still seem to have a slight advantage. The exception is the 10-19 bracket where way more Alliance twinks are seen than Horde twinks (it is easier to twink a 19 Ally due to a bigger player economy, player base and the levels required for the lower level instances where you collect twink gear.) With the cross pollination of Shaman and Paladin it is clearly obvious to me that the problem with either class is in the knowledge and skill required to play them effectively in WSG and that both can be extremely worthy opponents.
To me the best part of BGs is winning. I don't get any sadistic pleasure out of building a powerful toon only to brag about how many people with a fraction of my hitpoints I have killed, I just like to win. Winning gives more honor and marks than HK pharming and makes it easier to purchase the rewards.
The best advice I can give to BGers is go in as close to the top of the bracket as you can. A 32 not only is lower level but has not yet gained many of the spells that a 39 of their class has available to excel in BGs. There can even be a difference between a 25 and a 26 since the later will have new and possibly previously unavailable spells.
I also suggest you get the best gear you can. This does not have to be overpriced blue or epic gear, it can simply be a better green item with stats you can use. The easiest way to upgrade gear is to find the good quest rewards and drops from the instances near your level.

Personally, i think druids are the best flag runners in the game with all of their shape shifting, stealthing in, grabbing flag, cheetah running, all really great, but rogues can be decent at this too with the right talents, imp. sap, fleet footed, and other talent builds make an awesome flag runner, below is the best choice of talents for a flag running rogue, check it out!

I've been reading the comments re low lvl players and winning or losing ..... i don't think it's as simple as 'low lvl players = losing'. I've played quite a few games where there have been close to half the team below 26 and i've thought, 'we're going to lose'. But, we haven't, to my surprise. Teamwork seems to be more important. Having lower lvl mages and range fighters and healers seems ok to me. The other thing i've noticed is that sometimes ppl are negative towards lower lvl players right at the start .... hardly helpful in engendering team spirit. Losing can become a self-fulfilling prophecy. Re Horde vs Alliance .... there seem to be some Horde teams who practise a lot together. They think about strategy when new obstacles arise for them. I've been in a few Alliance teams now where there is hardly any communication ... hardly surprising then when we lose. Then there is the occasional person who is derogatory rather than encouraging to other players .... demoralising your teammates doesn't help win either. Horde aren't afraid to raid the Alliance base en masse either ... not always successful though. They frequently have healers and an entourage to protect the flag bearer after capturing the Alliance flag, so u have to go after all of them, especially the healers, as just attacking the flag bearer might not work. Attacking the Healers on the battlefiled is important too, and i've noticed often Alliance focus on melee. Horde use rogues a lot to hide in the Alliance base, so ppl on D would benefit from being able to detect stealth. Also, i've noticed that some of them seem to be able to heal very well and quickly .... i think some of the more serious Horde groups stock up on potions of healing and manna etc.

Im just curious as to why everyone is so rude in the bg? Yes, losing sucks, but I dont understand why you have to call people morons and idiots. And if you ask a ? that might be dumb to someone, instead of calling them stupid, why not help them out. Some people dont spend all their time in a bg, and I didnt even start playing them until 3 days ago, and I cant tell you how many times people were so rude in there! Lighten up people! And if you spent the time playing and helping instead of whining and typing about it....maybe the alliance would win every once in a while.

Believe it or not there are secrets to victory in WSG. The problem is it requires a massive amount of teamwork and assigned ranks. This is easiest if you bring your own groups and have them sign up for first available at the same time. It all revolves around strategy and two leaders(one offense, one defense) If you divide your raid leaving one group to defend and the other(s) to attack in a single war party you eliminate the problems of lack of defense and it's much harder for the rogues to pick you off. Traveling alone is extremely dangerous as rogues and druids in cat form(even more deadly as they can track you) will pick you off with ease(assuming you are not a melee class). Communication is key and sending the flag carrier off ahead is not the best idea. If possible try to surround the carrier and make sure he stays safe. In offense its best to let the players use whatever works best for them in defense certain classes should be in certain areas. Also a macro works well if your on defense.
/helpme
/yell I need backup!
is a good macro and works well if your armor isn't that high chances are you'll get a rogue or some other form of backup in time.
Defense Positions
Hunters: It works best if you are always on high ground taking your pet with you is a good idea as other enemy players will want your ground so you want a defense. Put a trap near your door (freezing is best) so if a rogue sneaks in you'll have warning. Don't forget to keep a flare near the flag.
Warriors: You don't really have a set spot as long as its near the area you'll need to defend. Station yourself on the floor with he flag and smash anything that comes your way.
Mages: You might want higher ground depending on what spells you enjoy. The Hunter should be willing to share his/her ledge just as long as they choose where they stand.
Druids: Choose whatever class role your playing that is where you should be.
Priests: If your shadow go for the ledge and snipe if your holy be out of the way of the main battle but within range to cast your heals.
Shamans: You probably want to be near the main entrance so you can drop your totems and cast your aoe spells. Wherever the battle is be in the middle.
Paladins: This all depends on what your gear is supposed to have you do. If your healing follow the holy priest path if your doing DPS you want to be somewhere you know you can dish out some pain.
Rogue: You want to be near the flag. Never near the door as when someone comes in you want to go unnoticed. Stealth near the flag and sneak around. An important part of your job is to protect those on the ledge sneak up there and try to take the attackers out. Some serious DPS is coming from there and its really important that they stay going. You can easily get up there and back unnoticed.
Warlocks: Ledge is good for you too. You can do most of your dot from a place where most people can't hit you which means your safe and their not.
Everyone: The enemy may try to distract and send the flag the other way. If thats the case use every snare and slowing skill you've got. Then when they can't run away, take them down.
If everyone works together its more honor, more exp, more tokens, and more fun for everyone. I write this hoping that it will help and improve the fun and honor in every WSG battle. No one likes losing 0-3 and no one likes a group where its every man for himself. Help each other, communicate, and plan your game. Good luck!

Directions to Warsong Gulch for Alliance
First fly or run to Ashenvale (I flew into Astranaar the town in Ashenvale) then run east on road to cords 67,73 from there turn right onto dirt trail. If no cords then turn right at signpost for Barrens then run to first light on right side. Just after light you will see dirt trail on right hand side. From road you can see Silver Outpost. Run to Outpost you will see road. Cords 65,75 Follow road to Silverwing Grove. Cords 61,83 This is the entrance to Warsong Gulch. If any questions just check map I will post. Good Hunting

I have played this a few times but have never managed to get the flag all the way back to base....the other day one team mate had the flag back at base but none of us knew what to do with it, we ended up running around with it for 15 mins b4 we lost it...Friend called me half an hour ago and had the same dilemma, they had run or hidden the flag for 10 mins but had no idea what to do with it, So the question is...what do you do with the flag once yoiu get it back to base....Thanks in advance.....Kell..

I have been playing priests (lots of priests) on different specs in order to learn about this class. It's much more challenging than playing a hunter; no pet, no leather, poor DPS, etc. Here's my take after spending a whole week at WSG with a very nice spec hybrid L19 Priest / Engineer. The Horde players understand teamwork in a way that Alliance just doesn't. Key mistakes that I see Alliance PUGs make over and over:
- Outrunning Their Healers, Alliance Rogues and Hunters will outrun their own healers. They rush out of range and get killed before the priest has time to even reach them. Horde is smarter than that. Horde waits for the healer. When they see the bubble pop, they know their healer is in range and they attack. Alliance will see their bubble pop, run at max speed for 15 seconds, notice that their bubble is gone, and they won't wait to see that bubble come back. MISTAKE! If that bubble doesn't come back, I'm not there, yet.
- Not Protecting Their Healers, I can't count the number of times I had two or three Horde DPS on my fanny and ran straight towards a group of Alliance DPS. AND THEY JUST STAND THERE AND LET THE HORDE KILL ME. Oh that's real bright. Any time there are three Alliance DPS on a Horde priest, the Horde DPS will strip those guys off in a heartbeat. Why? Because it takes 29 seconds to get that healer back on the grounds.
- Not Understanding The Math, The MAX CRIT for a DPS is roughly HALF my MAX CRIT. Do the math, people. An L19 Healer has a max crit that is over 500 points. That means that I can put health back more than twice as fast and someone can take it away. Losing 29 seconds of heal because the priest is dead is losing your team over 6000 points of health. Losing your rogue for 29 seconds loses your team 2800 points of damage. Do the math, people.
- Not Understanding Horde Tactics, Horde knows the math, so they take out the priests FIRST. Why do I wind up running across and open field with three max twink DPS on my fanny? Because the Horde players know the math! They know that if the priest is dead, they have 29 seconds of free killing. However, there is a way for Alliance to play it smart. If the Horde are chasing down your priest, and you really want to be stupid and not protect her, at least be smart enough to take advantage! OK, so you are using your priest for a Target Dummy. It's not the smartest move on the BG, but what the heck. THAT MEANS THAT THERE ARE TWO ALLIANCE PLAYERS WHO ARE NOT BEING COVERED! GRAB THE FLAG AND RUN!

I'been searching for days for Warsong Gulch. Finally found it at 46.6 8.6. The very north of the Barrens, before you reach the North point tower, turn East into Mor'shan Base Camp. It's in there.

This is in no way to be rude or disrespectful but it come off that way. I have been doing BG for nearly 3 years now, and playing both Horde and Alliance I have learned a few things.
Lvl means very little compared to team work. I hear less whining and insulting on the horde side. I see teamwork on the horde side. Healing is not the issue that Ally has, it is the simple fact then when playing a healer for the Ally NO ONE protects you. You get killed in an instant because no one cares about you (other than insulting your for not healing them). Horde protects you and tries to protect you as they would in an instance.
I prefer Alliance, better races and cities (to myself of course) but when playing Ally I have to ignore the stupid trade channel and simply understand that NO ONE will help with quests or with questions about anything.
Horde helps each other. They win, simple. Play as a team in WSG and you can win. The entire team doing a single dumbass plan is still better than 10 people with 10 plans.

I'm from staghelm so I'm in the shadowburn battle group and as the Horde we never have teamwork we just win with brute force

All you have to do is have half group at flag room and half going to the flag. easy as that

after not having done any of this i discovered how enjoyable it is at level 49. i was advised to wait UNTIL i was around 47 - 48 - 49 to try it, and now i, too, pass that advice along. You don't have to wait till the 40's, but here's an example:
If you're level 10, maybe wait until you're 18 - 19
If you're level 20, get outta there and wait till you're 28 - 29
and so forth! or you'll be at the 'bottom of the heap'.
Warsong was slightly confusing because of the multiple entrances, but i'm finally getting the hang of it ... :P
It's a simple capture-the-flag at heart. you want at least a couple people to stick around the flag at home though it may not seem necessary at the time! SO if you don't know what to do you can always stay right by the flag... you will see action regardless.
you can get up on the roof or the 'upstairs' ramp if you have a ranged weapon; nice advantage. watch out for all the magicking, there's a lot of magickal attacks up in them there parts.
encouraging each other really helps, yelling at each other 'WTF' does not. good luck!

"For Warsong Gulch, we’ve identified a number of locations in the battleground where clever players have found ways to get to a place they were never intended to go. These exploits are decidedly unfair, so we’re putting a stop to them. In most cases, the way we prevent such things is to place an invisible gate that blocks the unintended path. However, that’s sometimes impossible, so we make the out-of-bounds location fatal.
We’ll have all of these changes noted for you in the next Hotfixes Update that follows them going live.
Thank you!"

Hunter Buffs - Auras and Buffs Will Properly Apply to Ranged Attack Power in WoW Classic Phase 6
Posted by perculia | Wowhead Forums
Many helpful auras and buffs that improve Attack Power will properly apply to Ranged Attack Power in WoW Classic Phase 6, making
猎人
s more viable!
With this change, World Buffs like
芬古斯的狂暴
and
屠龙者的咆哮
will benefit
猎人
s, as well as the AP from the
萨满祭司
set bonus
图腾之力
and
圣骑士
set bonus
神圣之力
, which both increase Attack Power by 140. While this is listed under the bugfix section of the patch notes, it's worth highlighting that this was never fixed in vanilla WoW.
Phase 6 also fixes
强化武器图腾
, a bug that was documented in vanilla but not fixed until Burning Crusade. With both of these changes, we have to wonder if Classic Burning Crusade is on the way, leading Blizzard to depart from #nochanges to improve the game in future content patches.

The next version of WoW Classic is now available for testing on the Public Test Realm (PTR).

Bug Fixes
Many helpful auras and buffs that improve Attack Power now properly apply to Ranged Attack Power.
Developers’ notes: This was an issue that was the result of a technical limitation in original World of Warcraft that was fixed in later updates to the game. During internal testing we discovered that this issue also affected the
圣骑士
and
萨满祭司
6-piece Tier 3 set bonuses, and in fixing that, we decided to also fix it in many other situations where buffs and auras should affect Ranged Attack Power.
Resolved an issue that caused the
暗月卡片:虚空
to sometimes stop functioning for
牧师
s talented into
救赎之魂
after logging out and back into the game with the trinket equipped.
Resolved an issue that caused the
萨满祭司
talent
强化武器图腾
to not apply its damage improvements to other players in the
萨满祭司
’s party.
Developers’ notes: This talent was introduced late in original World of Warcraft and behaved in this unintended way until the beginning of Burning Crusade. It was considered a bug at that time, and will now be resolved here, as was originally intended.
Fixed some terrain exploits in
藏宝海湾
that allowed players to grief players arriving or leaving via Flight Masters with no fear of reprisal from guards or other players.
Resolved an issue that caused the Mail recipient auto-complete filter to behave in a frustrating way when attempting to send a mail to someone who shares a similar name with a member of your current guild.
Stabling a pet with
潜伏
active no longer prevents other pets with
潜伏
from using the same ability.
Resolved an issue that caused a
猎人
’s
自动射击
ability to occasionally experience a slight delay on recast if its cast was interrupted by
瞄准射击
.
Additional bug fixes will be added in future builds of the 1.13.6 PTR. Please use the in-game bug report tool for any issues you encounter, and thank you for testing with us!
