This is what Gilneas is renamed to after the Worgen starting questline.
It's heavily implied the forsaken won.

The quests seem to suddenly end.
I finished A Man Named Godfrey and Resistance is Futile then the NPC's I was with just vanished. I was fallowing the Silverpine quest chain and I was left with no quests in my log or any idea where to go next.

I need help with restarting the questline(s) in this area.
So what happened, I found Godfrey's body, and then Agatha (Valk'yr) was carrying me back to Sylvanas at the Battlefront zone. I accidently dismounted, but I got back to sylvanas, but there seemed to be some sort of error, since she asked where Godfrey's body was, so I figured I'd abandoned the quest and restart it.
Now I don't know where it starts, and I'd like to do it for pleasure and natural levling's sake before I hit lvl 20, so what do I do?

As I wandered through it at level 83 to see the new content, this zone doesn't make much sense. The Forsaken are clearly on a war footing as you enter the area from the north, with catapults ready to fire at the gap in the Greymane Wall, but there's not a living soul in the zone itself. Left me wondering who they were supposed to be fighting, if the Gilneans were conquered, as suggested by the first comment above.

It's called a Battle Ground dudes. The Worgen starting quests tell the tale of the Gilneans retreat to the NE starting area. They'll attmept to reclaim it with the allances help one the BG get's up and running.

Personally I would prefer this over Tol Barad, Maybe a second world PvP Zone to be implemented later in the expansion? I think not but we can always hope... QQ

Gilneas is actually part of various battles. Long List Chronologically:
Levels 1-5: Gilneas Humans vs Worgen.
Result: Gilneas Humans defeated, Worgen Victorious, Humans evacuated.
Unshown battles:
Headlands Battles: Shortly after the beginning of the Cataclysm (Greymane wall is wrenched open.) Character still Feral.
Combatants: Gilnean Humans & Worgen (Somehow, Speculated they may not be allied at this point, rather just coincidentally fighting together.) VS Forsaken
Result: Duskhaven is invaded via sea, Men are either slain or fall back or become worgen. Greymane wall is taken, Headland farms are destroyed or occupied as makeshift command centers, Bridge to Keel Harbor is destroyed, likely by it's inhabitants.
Emberstone Village, Sometime during the process of your character still being feral.
Combatants: Forsaken VS Emberstone Villagers
Result: Forsaken take over and occupy the town, making it a major command post. Villagers are not slain, rather used as slaves for mining in the Town's mine.
Gilneas City, While you are still feral.
Combatants: Forsaken VS Worgen
Result: Worgen are ousted from the city, Forsaken occupy the city and begin to establish a command post in the area. Market Square is left heavily damaged, Cathedral District is still damaged from the Worgen attacks and has several posts set up about it, Greymane Court is relatively untouched, Military District is heavily damaged and Stoneward Prison is re-fitted as an apothecary and Abomination creation facility.
Batlles Seen:
Levels 6-12: Gilneans (Humans and Worgen) vs Forsaken
First Battle: Duskhaven
Result: Neither side victorious, Cataclysm strikes, sinking Duskhaven and destroying whatever remained of the Forsaken fleet, Prior to sinking, Gilneans were winning.
Second Battle: Briefly outside Stormglen
Result: Forsaken lost another commander to an Ettin who was manipulated to fight for the Gilneans.
Third Battle: Tempest's Reach (Minor Civil war, Tempest's reach humans under Godfrey vs Gilneans.)
Result: Gilnean Victory, Tempest's reach rejoins the Gilneans. Godfrey, Ashbury, and Walden are slain.
Fourth Battle: Emberstone Village (Second Battle)
Result: Gilnean Victory. Forsaken lose hold of Emberstone, Villagers freed, Two commanders are slain, Cannons are retrieved.
Fifth Battle: The Battle for Gilneas City
Combatants: Forsaken Elite Forces vs Unified Gilneans (All towns (Not including Keel Harbor) + Worgen.)
Commanders: Sylvanas Windrunner VS Genn Greymane, Liam Greymane, Lorna Crowley, Darius Crowley.
Result: Gilnean Tactical Victory over most of the City. Market Square, Military District, and Greymane Court are reclaimed, Cathedral District remains under Forsaken Occupation.
Casualties: Heavy Forsaken Casualties, Light-Moderate Gilnean Casualties. Liam Greymane is killed in the fighting while saving Genn's life.
Aftermath: Gilneans retreat to Keel Harbor, maintaining a light hold on the city to avoid the Plague. Night Elven support arrives as well as Orcish support.
Keel Harbor battles:
Combatants: The Forsaken, The Warchief's Fleet VS Gilnean forces and Darnassian support.
Result: Forsaken are bombed over the air as the Gilneans retreat to Keel Harbor. Following this, The orcish fleet finally arrives from the coast, only to be met by Darnassian support that has arrived as well. Alliance Tactical Victory.
Loses: One Orcish Gunship, Many Forsaken Troops, Many forsaken catapults.
Aftermath: Majority of the Warchief's fleet is destroyed and forced to dock in Silverpine Forest. Gilneans successfully evacuate. The Gilnean Liberation Front is formed under Darius Crowley.
Seen Battles (Horde):
This does not include Silverpine battles. Pyrewood is included due to it's status as a Gilnean town.

Thought it'd be handy to know: after MoP, this area has become cross-realm. :)

Sightings from the Horde Questline
Lord Crowley can be seen recruiting humans to join the Worgen side to fight against the Forsaken in the Horde questline, "No Escape". He gives them a blood offering, which changes the every human inside Lordaeron into worgen and sets them against the Forsaken in Silverpine Forest. Sylvanas asks the Horde players to attack and try to regain control of the land but is pushed back too far. Feeling like she underestimated Crowley, Sylvanas asks the Horde player to go to Deathstalker Commander Belmont in Gilneas (phased) to attack the Worgen.

Best zone in the game:
1. Good for wedding RP (Light's Dawn Cathedral)
2. Sad place if you wanna be alone
3. Historical Setting (Based on the 19th British Century)
4. Again,Good for RP (Example:The Phantasm of the Opera at Greymane Manor).
Everytime I have nothing to do, I come here.
About the creepy ghost guy....after he disappears the windows automatically open. I won't sleep tonight!

Check out the windows of some of the houses in the city itself. Sometimes they open on their own, or a silhouette appears briefly... even though the city is supposed to be abandoned. Creepy. Perhaps some survived and locked themselves inside, or perhaps Gilneas has become haunted.
Also, I would like to add that, being devoid of any NPCs save for a few hounds and foxes, and being full of richly detailed architecture and environments, this zone is severely underrated for roleplaying!

...So... The biggest conflict facing Azeroth between the Alliance and Horde as the hostilities that had slowly fermented since the very conclusion of the Third War reaches a boiling point in
Cataclysm
, then later escalating further in
Mists of Pandaria
through Garrosh Hellscreams' antics, put on hiatus during Warlords of Draenor to deal with the Garrosh problem and later get involved with the Gul'dan problem from there crossing over into our timeline to kickstart
Legion
... Then after The War of Thorns where Sylvanas burns down Teldrassil and we take the fight to them in Lordaeron to finally start up The Fourth War: The Alliance somehow ignores the opportunity to retake Gilneas that they were promised back when they went to go inside of the giant Tree: which as stated before is burnt down?
Am I missing anything here? Why hasn't the Worgen bothered to retake Gilneas? At the very least; Blizzard should have made plans for a Warfront Scenario set within Gilneas as the Worgen set about to reclaim their homeland while the remainder of the Forsaken struggles to maintain control over the city. Have the Alliance and Horde groups pass through the shattered gates of the Greymane Wall in a cutscene as they set about establishing their Base within either Northgate or Emberstone and set about gathering resources and taking bases in preparation for an assault on Gilneas City to deal with the zones' commander located within Light's Dawn Cathedral: Lord Darius Crowley or Ivar Bloodfang for Alliance, and High Warlord Cromush or Helcular for Horde.
Maybe even a couple of unique Worgen and Forsaken Goodies to loot from Rares there: The World Bosses would be
Koroth the Hillbreaker
that appears for Horde, while Alliance have to deal with a now-reanimated
Korok the Colossus
who would drop unique Worgen-stylized BfA Armor or even Gilnean Starting Gear that is relabeled for Transmogrification purposes (at long last, we'd have a Cosmetic-version of the
Very Gorgeous
,
Very Brazen
, and
Very Stylish
trends of Gilnean fashion that Cata Players would be familiar with.
Mounts that could show up might include a Vilebrood Spider Mount that drops from a Rare in Stormglen Village, an equally-rare Wolf would be found nearby in Blackwald where an armored wolf mount would drop that says it was a companion to the Wild God
Goldrinn
who was responsible for contributing to the Worgen Curse in the past. Another Mount would have to be a purely "Ghost Horse Mount" that works similar to the
Frightened Kodo
that itself is the faithful steed of Prince Liam Greymane that is ever in-pursuit of its fallen master and runs around the zone.
Battle Pets that could be found in this theoretical Gilneas Warfront Area would include an Ettin Battle Pet that can drop off of a Rare Spawn Ettin inside of Koroth's Den which would be the most sought-after of them all, a Spider Battle Pet from the previously-mentioned Rare Vilebrood Spider, a Magic Book Battle Pet that drops from a rare over by the "Unmarked Altar" site just tucked away north of Tempest's Reach, and possibly a "Magic Flying Painting Battle Pet located from a rare merchant in the Merchant Square that is busy hawking his wares
All of this was thought off of the top of my head, Blizzard. Just so you know.
