Ebon Hold is the deathknight class starting zone. It's here where you'll learn more about your abilities, do quests to earn talent points and if you do all the quests you'll have about a T1 level set when you're done and leave the area.
Interesting to note, you'll encounter friendly NPCs such as Baron Rivendare and others.
Edit: More information can be seen at

So it was set before the events of The Frozen Throne... but how can Arthas then be the Lich King?
评论来自
Suzaku
It's not set before the Frozen Throne. It's set sometime between the Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King (there are draenei and blood elves amongst the death knights).
The story setup/timeline seems to be something like this:
First, the attack on
Stratholme
, or at least the killing of
Rivendare
, doesn't officially happen until after the formation of the
Knights of the Ebon Blade
, as he's still alive in Acherus. It's also possible that he was raised, though
decapitation
is supposed to prevent that.
The seige on
Naxxramas
did happen.
Kel'thuzad
was defeated and
his phylactery
taken, but it was given to
Father Inigo Montoy
, a "false agent" of the Argent Dawn. This allowed Kel'thuzad to be resurrected, and Naxxramas is now relocated to the
Dragonblight
. It appears that the bosses weren't killed, or at least, have been raised from the dead. The only boss not returning to the relocated Naxxramas is
Highlord Alexandros Mograine
, who is stated by a relocated Commander Eligor Dawnbringer as having vanished without a trace following the events in the Plaguelands. It's also stated the identity of his replacement is still unknown.
Tirion Fordring
has reclaimed his status as a paladin.
Most major events involving Light's Hope Chapel and Tyr's Hand have officially taken place. Havenshire, New Avalon, and King's Harbor were, officially, always connected to Tyr's Hand, despite not appearing in-game.
The questline surrounding Ashbringer and Alexandros' son (possibly Darion) who was supposedly in Outland may have been dropped. It's hard to tell, right now. The upcoming Ashbringer comic mini-series may clarify these events.
This is where the questline listed by Mumpley begins. The final quest,
The Light of Dawn
, has been stated by a blue on the beta forums to not be finalized; a more smoothe transition into present EPL is planned to be implemented in time.
Following the Death Knight questline, Darion forms the Knights of the Ebon Blade and they take over Acherus, and many important NPCs from EPL reform into new groups and head to Northrend.

ok...now I am baffled. but this is how I am seeing it, though i can be wrong but since I didn't play any of the WC games i am lost anyways...
it seems Arthas (The Lich king) is stationed at Ebon Hold. by the gods/goddess pulling names from a hat your character is one of the unlucky ones to get killed on the battlefield, and you get raised to serve the Lich King (Arthas). You do some war crimes or genocide or ethic cleansing or w/e Arthas commands you to do, to become more of a monster. that part i understand what gets me is this
Highlord Darion Mograine
Baron Rivendare
Are these good guys now or still bad guys. and if you are trying to get good with the ally/horde depending on what you roll, how do they break away from ebon hold, it's not like you going to the baron saying
DK: Yo, I'm going to go kill some things with my ally/horde friends, I'll be back when I ding ok!
Baron: ok, just don't get hurt.
would you be killed again, do aligning yourself with the living since you are supposed to be working for the scrouge.
I'm just not grasping how you'll keep it a secret from them and arthas..

ok. After watching that video, it kinda came together. It seems you was tricked into thinking you would be martyred, only to find out you was used as bait to lure out a guy, so Arthas could try and kill him but ended up failing. now THAT makes sense. So my question is..is there a cut scene that transitions to the present? Kinda like a cutscene in MgT when you kill the 2nd boss, and I take it that after the baron hears of this he's like "screw you guys I'm going to Stratholme"
Sorry for all the questions but all this is like a japanese cartoon series the type if you come in the middle of the season you are like WTH is going on?
But the movie did clear some of it up.

You begin as "the bad guy" on Arthas' side up on top of Ebon Hold. Yes, Rivendare and Mograine are there as well. Through quests, you corrupt the lands protected by the Scarlet Crusade. As you progress, the lands change to reflect the devistation of the current invasion of the scourge (that you take part in). The killings are actually rather savage (from an alliance character's perspective). You are even asked to kill one of your own fraction. It's at this point that, before your blade ends his life, he asks that you turn your back to the lich king. This doesn't really affect your character too much, as he's tasked with killing 200 people shortly after this.
To end the questline, you are asked to destroy LHC. During the battle, Tirion Fordring shows up, as the lich king had expected. You then learn that you were just a pawn used to lure Tirion out so the LK could confont him. Upon this realization, Tirion receives the corrupted ashbringer, and then appears to cleanse it. Then does a charging blow to the LK and basically pwns him into leaving. From this point on, the whole DK invasion turns on the lich king for his betrayal. LK leaves Ebon Hold, which is now a sanctuary for DK's whom have receeded from the scourge.

I love what Blizzard did with this place!
When I was wandering though the zone, I really had the feeling which I think Blizzard tryed to give to players: That of a dark knight, serving a evil order, that attacks the village of defenseless humans... the atmosphere is incredible!
Even if you don't intend to level up a Death Knight until the 80s, you
must
do the Death Knight quests, as Blizzard did an incredible job when they created this zone!

The killings are actually rather savage (from an alliance character's perspective).
Bah, I'm so tired of hearing how the Alliance are the good guys and the Horde are the bag guys. As the manual says, "...such distinctions of good and evil have all but evaporated..." or something to that effect. And if you think about it, the Alliance were always more of the "bad guys" than the Horde ever was. And no, I'm not including of the whole "orcish horde that nearly destroyed Azeroth" and blah, blah, blah. The fact of the matter is that a "horde" can consist of damn near anything in its improper form. The Horde (proper noun) was formed later on—so far as I know from the lore that I've read—and of course, is now led by Thrall (or rather, Go'el).
In the end, all the Horde really wants to do is make a new name for itself. To establish the fact that it is no longer the bloodthirsty bunch of monsters that it once was. And look what the Horde is made up of: it consists of the differing factions that the the Alliance can consider "normal". The only real exception to this rule, of course, being the Draenei. And was I was telling a friend the other day, the only reason that the Draenei have become aligned with the Alliance is sheer happenstance. Had they crashed on an island where a Horde vessel run by the Trolls, Undead, or even the Tauren had crashed, they would've allied with them, instead.
Obviously, they wouldn't have been so eager to ally themselves with the Horde had they been confronted with past (Orc) and present (Blood Elves) enemies, but I think that as liaisons to the Horde, one of the previously mentioned three races could've explained that both races are no longer what they were to the Draenei at one time.
So again, the Horde is just trying to do nothing more than, well... exist. And obviously, Jaina and Thrall went their own separate ways on at least decent terms.
And the Alliance is more or less the Nazis of Azeroth, eliminating anything that isn't remotely human. The Blood Elves being the exception to this, but they'd already been hated upon by the Alliance from earlier escapades.
Anyway, that's my completely tangential response to a post, and this has nothing to do with the current topic at hand, BUT... I felt it had to be said to clear the air of them negative vibes, mon. ;)

IMO they should have a quest transition where you actually have a reason (other than getting to 70 of course) to go to outland after you hit 58 in this zone. For example, in BC they gave blood elf characters a quest to go into Kalimdor and start on the horde quests their level. I think it should be the same with DKs where they get a quest to go into outland, and then after hitting 70 getting a quest to go into Northrend.

since there is the achievment in Loremaster that says Eastern Plague Lands: Scarlet Enclave. Does that meen ppl other than DKs can enter or not? and if they do they c it how it was in the end of the phase DKs c, or if they go to it b4 like the 1st DK even finished how would they c it and would they c DKs or Acherus? I say probably no but this achievment made me double think if someone can plz tell me that would be splendid

Bah, I'm so tired of hearing how the Alliance are the good guys and the Horde are the bag guys.He never said that Alliance were good and Horde were bad; you're reading your own prejudices into his words.
He was describing a battle between the Scourge and the Alliance, and said that it was harsh from the Alliance's point of view.
The Horde weren't there. Celeborn didn't refer to them in any way because there were none in the zone. The closest thing to a Horde there were the members of the Scourge who were Horde before they died and were brainwashed by Arthas.

Hers an interesting litl fact, blizz have programed the mobs in this place to ast their role perfectly!
The soliders will attack u callin u stuff like 'scourge scum'
The men civilans will put up a(all b it rather dismal)fight
The female civilan however just roll over and die basically un able to put up any resistance
Also the quotes the mobs use really gives the feel of being evil e.g. 'please, dont kill me. I have a wife and children'
heartwrenching stuff if ur not used to playin the bad guy
Also theres a q in there somewhere called 'A special suprise' thats has a race specific ending when u take the quest ur sent to kill an argent dawn prisoner of ur race. Interestingly this person knew u as a child, the whole dialogue to follow makes it hard to 'want' to kill them at the end of it

Not everything that happens in WOW is "canon." At the most basic level the horde and alliance can't do the same quests thus both can't be true. I suspect the status of Strat is not that Rivendale is returned to undead but that simply Strat was never acually taken. At the end of the day Rivendale never failed thus he can in the present time take his place in Northrend Naxx. If you really think about all the quests alot of them is they were true would simply destroy WOW lore as we know it.

When you're here with a DK obviously all the humans here hate you since you're a bad guy, so it makes sense that they try and kill you.
But I went here to explore with my priest, and they still tried to kill me... What had my holypriest ever done to hurt them? Is this a bug, or laziness on the programmers part or is there a reason for this?

Okay that's just stupid. For your information if you forgot the Draenei did crash on a island with Horde on it and not Alliance. What about those elf's there that were part of the Scarlet Crusade that they kept trying to destroy their crystals or whatever. You forget them. Their the only inhabitants that are on a faction living on that island the Draenei crashed onto. What I don't think people seem to be getting is the fact that DK's are not either with the Horde or Alliance and that the all the Lich King forces and are a 3rd force that oppose both the Horde and Alliance. As for the Horde what was said is true the Horde do want to just be left in peace, BUT this is not the case with all the Horde. The Horde forces that Thrall controlled do not wish for fighting but then Thrall's force was very small still and still it became influenced. Also that force only consisted of Orc's, nothing more. The thing that got the Night Elf's angered was the fact that upon their arrival they started to destroy the forests. All the desert land you see now in Kalimdor was all at one time forest. It's like that because the Horde cut down the tree's like we modern humans to make their towns and such. The Elf's who are attuned to nature became angered by this as a unknown force came and destroyed their home (tell me would you like some crazed drunk walking into your house and start destroying your things, no I didn't think so). As for the Undead well they actually wanted to fight if you read anything on the past of Azeroth history that is all the Undead knew how to do. The Troll's are a race based solely for fighting if you read anything on Troll's this is how they are. Humans are really a nontrusting race (until they get to know you that is) and so they are hard to get along with thats why they dont actually accept the Horde and why the DK's have to do that crap for them (also because of past dk's killing humans but heck still). Dwarves are a hardy folk that love metal and gems and stone more than anything else and so they wish to preserve it. The horde have destroyed somethings they held dear in stonework and thats the only reason why they help the alliance. The gnomes lived close to the dwarves and they suffered at the hands of corruption in their city so they seeked refuge. They work well with dwarves as they also like stone but they deal more in technical, and mechanical things so this was useful to dwarves. I am leaving out blood elf's and draenei as know common knowledge that i stated needs to be said the rest would be common sense. Night elves I leave out as night elves actually are standard elves but for the sake of having different elven races such as blood elves they called them night elf's. Also night elf's tend to harmonize and get their strength from nature and tree's and such. Kalimdor belonged solely to the night elf's. Tauren's I left out as they are basically minotaurs (at least they look like that, sorry you guys). Since those are mythical nothing is known about them either. The sides good and evil is nothing more than perception. The only evil side is the lich kings side and the only nuetral side is the goblins.

So a fun fact I learned about Ebon hold. When I did the Fishing Diplomat Achievement I summoned a deathgate and was prepared to get out of SW harbor.
Thats when I thought...I wonder if I can send a few allies buzzing with a local defense call. So I death gripped a guard, gave him a few whacks with a fishing pole and quickly gated out to safety.
Or so I thought....The moment my screen loaded every NPC DK was attacking me. Even after jumping into the portal to the other level...everything decided to try to kill me.
So pro-tip: Don't do anything pvp before you gate in...you'll die. Though oddly enough I was resurrected soon after like nothing happened.

I loved doing the DK quest line because it was pretty much located in a corner of EPL that I had never bothered fully checking out before BC came out. And it was just too epic to miss out on, of course.
So I went back recently to see if there was anything there since the introduction of DKs. You run through Tyr's Hand and see the usual wandering Scarlet Crusade mobs in their low to mid 50s, most of them (if not all, I don't remember now) elite mobs and pretty much just follow your map up to the DK starting area. If you've done the DK quest line, then you've seen how burnt up, run down, and plagued it looks in the end...and it still looks that way, like pretty much the rest of EPL. Called the Ruins of the Scarlet Enclave now, it's very much a ghost town. No mobs, no little animals running around...just completely devoid of life. I even ran all the way down to the shore where the ships were for the
Massacre at Light's Point
and even they're not there (which makes sense because the Scarlet Crusade became the Scarlet Onslaught and sailed to Northrend).
It was an extra chance to see the landscape without worrying about quest completion, and while I'd been hoping there were a bunch of elites still there to kill, it wasn't a complete waste of time for a sightseer like me. I hadn't realized until then just how big the place was...something you notice, I suppose, when you're not focused on killing and looting. I did, however, raid the buildings in Tyr's Hand that had mobs for laughs and was surprised to see
her
and
him
there. He was in the church and she was in the other big building next door. He's for a Horde quest, and really, story-wise, she should be in Northrend somewhere. Who comes to EPL for vacation? o_O Neither of them dropped anything worth the effort and yes, she does call for help, so clear the room if you go to kill her. I just did it for the screenshots.
And no, no one but the DKs can get up to Acherus...for now, I suppose...I tried to see if I could get a flight up there by going to the area that had the flight point during the quest line and found that there wasn't any way up. That's okay...we'll always have the
Shadow Vault
.

I found out something about respeccing as a DK (before the Light of Dawn quest, at least).
It seems that Death Knights who respec before reaching the end of their starting chain get to do so

i actually found a way in on a non-dk character, the steps are as follows
1) go to light's hope chapel
2)go north until you see a scourge banner
3) go as far in as you can past the scourge banner
4) get killed
5) rez at spirit healer
and you're in
the only way out is to hearth
if you come here without the wrath expansion (yes, its possible) then there are no npcs but you are still there somehow

Can anyone think of any other way of exiting the Ebon Hold?
