This is insane for DoT classes, especially Shadow Priests, for the following reason.
Pain & Suffering
, when it refreshes SW: P, only resets the damage it does based off your spellpower value. In other words, if you have a trinket proc for an extra +590 spellpower, that will be applied to SW: P the next time you Mind Flay; and, when that proc fades, the next time after that you cast Mind Flay, the extra spellpower will be removed from SW: P's damage.
This, however, does not apply to any other damage-boosting stat. I.e., it does not apply to crit. If you were to use this trinket and then
hard-refresh
SW: P -- in other words, manually press the Shadow Word: Pain button again, rather than refreshing it through Mind Flay -- it would gain the
920 Crit Rating
thanks to the buff, and that would remain
for as long as that particular SW: P were kept on the target
. If it is possible to keep that SW: P up for the remainder of the fight, it would maintain an inflated crit rate. At 45.91 Crit Rating required for 1% of Crit at level 80, that would equal a massive
20.04%
continuous Crit chance boost on SW: P.
Naturally, if you also time the activation of this trinket with a situation in which the first button you cast is the refreshing of another DoT -- VT, for instance --then it is made impossible for the 920 crit rating to diminish before you have gotten that DoT up on the target again. Thus, another DoT besides SW: P benefiting from 20% increase in crit rate -- though, obviously, for a lesser time period.

That in the proc is supposed to be 920 (20.04%)crit rating and losing 184 (4.01%)crit rating every time it crits. So it lasts for 5 crits.

Quite good for boomkin. It helps you get your Eclipse proc early to start off instead of spamming Wrath wildly and wondering why you're so unlucky. Using this trinket in combination with an Eclipse rotation means less inefficient Wrath spam and more crushing streaks of Starfire crits.

" Every time one of your non-periodic spells deals a critical strike, the bonus is reduced by 184 critical strike rating. (3 Min Cooldown)"
non periodic spells
Thats why this trinket would be very fun and, potentially, so awesome for a DoT class like a Spriest or Affliction Lock. In theory, the crit from the use of this trinket WOULD apply to the crit rating for their DoTs, however, when those DoTs actually crit it WOULDNT take away from the proc granted by the trinket.
I can only imagine how hella sweet this would be for a Affliction Lock to pop when the Boss (or whatev) gets to 35% and they replace 1 of 2 spells that they use that can reduce the proc (Shadowbolt) and start using Drain Soul (which doesnt crit)... 920 crit rating that will only get reduced if Haunt crits could be a HUGE boost for an Affliction Lock's DPS during their "execute" time

Sinespe,
From what I am reading in your post, it seems that if you were to Activate the use ability of this trinket, then manually refresh your SW:P, it will reap the benefit of the +crit, even after it has been refreshed afterwards by Mind Flay? Am I reading that correctly?
Also, if the above is assumed true, then in theory, once the cooldown is up you would be able to add the +crit ability again to another DOT (ie. VT) while still retaining the +crit bonus to SW:P. Am I thinking correctly?

So here's a thought...What about a non caster class using this, especially in pvp? Of course the Spell Power is useless, but it seems to me that the debuff for say, a Hunter, Warrior or Rogue (barring Wound Poison crits) would last at the initial 20% crit for the full 20 seconds. Imagine having a 55%~ crit chance for your initial 20 seconds of stunlocking?
Or is it only Spell Crit? Says Critical Strike rating.

Hold the phone! You mean if I blow this trinket before my first corruption and refresh corruption through haunt always then the entire spell for the entire fight will have +920 crit? And then when I refresh it during execute mode it will only be reduced by haunt for all other spells?
Hot damn, nerf incoming. I grabbed this sexy trinket last night, and hell, the spellpower alone made it better than abyssal rune.

No, don't spread hyperbole as fact. If this were true we'd all be running around with the PvP movement trinket on because that also has 111 SP. The spell power proc alone on Abyssal Rune is worth over 100 SP/minute on average with its 20% uptime, and haste is worth between 75 and 100% of your spell power in higher level gear which makes the 84 haste very attractive as well.
Is that trinket better than Abyssal Rune? Definitely, but not just because of the spell power bonus.

According to the latest Rawr, this trinket is actually worse than Abyssal Rune for Arcane mages. Arcane heavily favors haste over crit, and casts fast enough that the +crit buff won't last very long either. I'm sure Fire spec loves the crap out of this trinket.
As of Rawr v2.3.1, the crit Use effect is not modeled, so comparison using this program will not be correct unless you add it in, but that's not so simple.
You can set up a (very) rudimentary Secondary effect quickly though.
Let's assume for convenience that ABspam04MBAM is our preferred cycle, and that this trinket is decoupled from other modifiers (AP, Icy Veins, etc) -- since using something like Talisman during those would most positively affect the benefit of those effects.
Our average cycle length would thus be .2*2.5+.8*(4*2.5+2.5) = 10.5, where .2 is the chance to cast mbam at 0 and .8 is the chance to cast it at 4 stacks. This is then modified by haste, so if you have for example 640 haste you have a 1.268 casting speed and thus your average cycle length is 10.5/1.267 = 8.28 seconds, and your average hits/cycle is .2*1 +.8*5=4.2 and so you hit every 8.3/4.2 = 1.98 seconds, call it 2 seconds.
Now, if your crit % is 40%, you will crit every 2.5 hits or t=5 seconds. However, the average of this proc (460 crit) is ~10% crit, so for the duration of the buff you have average 50% crit, so every 2 hits or t = 4 seconds. Thus the buff will last 5*4 = 20 seconds.
So for this combination of crit and haste, you could make a secondary effect either 460 crit 20s/3min or a static 460*.11111 = 51 crit
This is of course very back-of-the-napkin, and when added only serves to provide numerical enforcement to the "gut-feeling" of every arcane mage that Abyssal Rune is way better than this trinket.

I would like to point out, that as of 12/10/2009, this thing increses your MELEE crit chance as. The buff does NOT diminish as you use melee abilities.
I'm saying this because I got it on my Shammy (as resto, for resto, so calm down.) and it actualy turned out to be QUITE good for Enh (I was using some very bad trinket).
Just intresting to note - I predict that it will be changed to "spell crit chance" soon

The only moment when SW:P checks for critical strike rating, is the moment when it's cast. So on fights like Loatheb, you need to hard refresh it, as it won't be gaining +50% critical chance bonus when you get a spore buff. However, if you lose spore buff, SW:P will still have same chance to crit as if you had it, so, say with actual 20% crit, SW:P will still have 70% crit. With that said, as long as your SW:P stays on target, any changes to your critical strike rating won't affect it at all. Other dots, however, will have to be refreshed manually anyway, so they won't get such huge benefit as SW:P.
Since this trinket only reduces crit buff when you crit with non-periodic spells, you can activate it, drop VT, SW:P and DP. I bet with that huge crit chance your IDP will crit for sure, so at least you will get full benefit for VT and SW:P.

Got this on my Shadow Priest, and although it increases my DPS, it's not what i had expected.
Mind Flay is not considered a DoT, and the first one you cast will eat away all the charges of the trinket.
The best way to use it, is to pop it with max shadow weaving and any other procs you might have and multi-dot everything (hoping the instant damage of Imp. Devouring Plague doesn't crit)... Because with your crit chance that high, even worse, having the T94p bonus... your next MF will kill the trinket charges.

This dropped yesturday for my Holy/Shadow priest. While the perceived benifits are obvious for my priest in Shadow spec, it's use as a healing trinket while in Holy spec is also pretty remarkable when you combine it with Inner Focus.
Inner Focus grants 25% increase in crit chance, plus the 20% from this, add in 30% or more of your crit chance dependent on your gear and raid buffs, you're figuring around 75% or more so crit chance for your next healing spell. Certainly likely you'll pop inspiration on your tarket and regain mana with holy concentration. And as much as my Holy Priest loves the crit from this, I think that Discapline Priest would have a heart attack from this trinket.

This trinket is also a great Boomkin trinket. This adds 20% for the first one and then a bit less following but you should be able to proc eclipse before this goes down, not to mention the base 111 SP.
You could also save this trinket for right when you proc your first Eclipse to make sure that all your Starfire's crit but I don't think it would be worth it. On your second eclipse it would be good to use too if you want to see back to back 10k crits with wrath. I suggest for those below 30% base crit or in 5 mans to use this pre-Lunar Eclipse and those above it to either use it in Solar Eclipse or in pre-Lunar Eclipse.

Just got it on my Shadow Priest, after an agonizing 7 runs. Very happy knowing that I never have to run that god-forsaken 5man ever again.
Yes, it does GREATLY increase the crit chance of your SW: Pain for the entire fight. Tested it myself, and after about 3 minutes of DPSing (full mana to 0 mana) Recount averaged 48% crit chance for SW: Pain, and my base crit rating is only 22%.
Devouring Plague crit avg: 26.7%
Vampiric Touch crit avg: 37% (What the hell? o.o)
SW: Pain crit avg: 48%
Though, oddly, that huge crit boost to SW: Pain didn't provide as much of a DPS increase as I had hoped. =( DPS only increased by about 100.

But keep in mind that this is a CASTER TRINKET and he has use of it in PvE & PvP - rolling for it when the caster does not have it would be very very lame.
Bear in mind any hybrid class queuing in the LFG as dps / healer 99% of time will be asked to heal.
Upgrade is an upgrade, and since I've read here it works for healing, I'm going to roll on this with no remorse.
Anyway, it doesn't say anywhere (unlike pure dps trinkets) "when your spells deal damage" or "your harmful spells have a chance to..."

This trinket seems mediocre for Elemental Shamans to me. First of all, we're not too fond of crit in particular (it's probably about half as good (raw number) as SP or haste). Secondly, the trinket would appear to be good for DoT-users, and we only have one DoT (which only makes up a relatively small part of our damage). Thirdly, Lava Burst is a guaranteed crit anyway, thereby wasting one of the five "charges" on the trinket. Of course, you can be smart and use the trinket right after using Lava Burst and then you may have time to use all the charges before the next LvB (8 seconds). But that's not guaranteed, especially since you have to wait for the LvB to hit the target, and thereby have to cast another spell while waiting (making the 8 seconds to perhaps 6-7 seconds).
I suppose it's not horrible, but I doubt it's good as Abysal Rune, for example.

It depends on the Holy Pally's subspec. If he is Holy-Ret then probably not, since he will have a ton of crit already and spams Holy Light. If he's Holy-Prot, which is more of a Flash of Light spammer, then yeah this trinket does help him get crit which he gave up from not speccing into Ret.
On a side note, I'm sorry to hear about your loss. Funny thing is, I lost a roll to a warlock and he was very generous and traded it to me. As a Holy-Prot healer, I was very grateful to him.

Actually, you all think about damage dealers, think of this in the hands of a resto druid.. aditional 20% crit that lasts forever if they use only rejuvination, lifebloom, wild growth, tranquility.. none would triger the reduction. only nourish and regrowth would actually trigger the reduction.. IF they crit.. so ALL the HoT's would have 20% +crit%.
Raidhealing for the win.

Does anybody else think this trinket is massively under budget. I would rather have eye of the brood or illustration of the dragon soul if I were dps, and they are much easier to get. If heals, as usual very few "On Use:" trinkets are that powerful and I would rather have many other trinkets then this.
The one class that I see this being godlike for is a shadowpriest with refreshing SW:P. Could also be good for affliction locks.
Overall pretty under-budget trinket for all but 2 classes.

Tested today and rolling the crit DOES still work for affliction warlocks. You must have done something wrong on your test, or simply had an unlucky run, because even without the trinket activated your true crit value should be 9% higher than what's shown in the character pane with malediction.
With 21.55% crit + 9% malediction = 30.55% crit
52/169 ticks of corruption crit = 30.8% crit
With 21.55% crit + 20.04% nevermelting ice crystal + 9% malediction = 50.59% crit

I was excited to get this to drop - and also win it, had lost it once previously - on my elemental shaman, since my previous second trinket was crap. But sadly, especially for the item level this one is as well, at least for said spec. The spellpower is of course nice, but the use effect has a way too long cooldown. For raiding, my crit rate is nearly 50% as it is, so basically I'll use up a "stack" of this use effect more than 50% of the time, so it won't last long - maybe 15 seconds maximum. And then it's no bonus for nearly 3 minutes!
Abyssal Rune would beat this by miles, but grinding for it is certainly tedious.

*** Warning maths ***
This trinket gives you a crit bonus until you've crit 5 times, or 20 secs passes, whichever comes first. Let's ignore the 20 sec limit for a moment and do some maths.
Initially, you have a 20% crit benefit. At this point, there are three possibilities: one would have crit anyway (random<initial crit rate), you crit because of the trinket bonus (initial crit rate < random < modified crit rate) or you don't crit. The chance of an extra crit due to the trinket on the first occasion is 20%, and it is these crits we care about here.
After the first crit, the chance drops to 16%, then 12%, etc. The average of these is 10%, so the number of extra crits you get from this trinket is 10% x number of times of attempts it takes you to get 5 crits.
Executive summary: the expected number of extra crits you get due to using this trinket turns out to be about 1 on average, and scales negatively with your initial crit rate. One crit every three mins is shockingly crap (equivalent to about 1% crit all the time) and can't be stacked with other DPS 'use' trinkets.
Unless the interaction between this trinket and DOTs is very different (DOTs don't crit immediately, so perhaps you can apply DOTs with a high crit chance before the effect wears off) then the 'use' part of this trinket sucks massively.
I'm very surprised this is ilvl 232.

This trinket is not nearly as good as many may think it is, especially given the item level. One thing many people may be neglecting is that when used, criticals that are registered that are not a result of the trinket (your base criticals) will count and reduce the effect of the trinket, despite the fact that they did NOT provide you with an extra critical. Just to theorize, if you are at 0% critical, then the use of this trinket will provide you with 5 extra criticals; likewise if you are at 100% critical, then the use of this trinket will provided you with 0 extra criticals.
I am going to use my character as a general example. I am an arcane mage in mostly item level 245 items. I will assume my critical chance with full raid buffs, talents, etc. is 50%, although it is actually more like 60%.
Normally my chance to get a critical strike is 50 / 100. When first used, the trinket will provide me with an additional 20%; therefore my critical chance is 70% or 70 / 100. At this point, when I get my first critical strike, there is a 20 / 70 chance that it was from the trinket and 50 / 70 chance it was due to my base critical chance. Each successive critical strike has its chance that it came from the trinket reduced 4%, as well as my overall total critical chance. Here is the basic formula that is therefore derived:
(20)/(20+Cr) + (16)/(16+Cr) + (12)/(12+Cr) + (8)/(8+Cr) + (4)/(4+Cr)
Cr = Your character’s base critical chance before trinket use. So plugging in 50% for base critical chance:
20/70 + 16/66 + 12/62 + 8/58 + 4/64.
Each part of the equation represents the probability (or chance) that the critical strike was from the trinket use and not my base critical chance. When you add up the total, you get .9336. Therefore at 50% critical base chance, this trinket will give you on average less than 1 extra critical strike, which occurs every 3 minutes (on use).
One last thing to consider is that it’s hard to make sure the critical strikes come from specific spells, especially for my character (arcane mage). Since most of my hits are from arcane missiles and mostly the rest from arcane blast, I have done a rough calculation that a random critical strike is worth about an additional 3600 damage.
Therefore the proc gives me 3600 extra damage every 3 minutes, or 1200 every 1 minute, or 20 damage per second. As a rough translation, 20 dps for my character is about 20 spell damage.
Therefore you can see that the use of this trinket will give on average less than 1 additional critical strike, and for my character is worth about 20 spell power. This makes this a VERY WEAK trinket.

As elemental though, it seems to hardly make a difference at all in how often Flame shock crits. (for me it tends to crit more than average already) Leave this for the spriest/warlock in your group, there are much better choices out there for both restro and elemental.

Boomkins, dont waste your time
Used your math, and came up with my own number on my Boomkin: 1.2137 extra crits when my avg crit=35.3%(without this trinket). My base crit is 23%, but with libram that gives 200crit rating and eclipse procs, my average crit is 35.3%.
So 1.2137 extra crit from this trinket every 3mins. For me, thats 14000(crit)-6400(hit)=7600 more dmg if I use Starfire, 9000(crit)-4300(hit)=4700 more dmg if I use Wrath. So, my gain will be between 4700 and 7600 gain per 3 minute. Since its 1.2137 more crits on average when I use this trinket, thats between 5705 and 9225 damage per 3 min = 32-51dps from this use effect.
That beeing said, my moonfire crits aswell. It hits for 1400, and crits for 2900, thats a 1500 damage difference. 1500 x 1.2137 = 1820 per 3 min = 10dps
So, my dps increase from this use effect =
42-61dps
in the long run. But it has a nice burst effect, giving me a possiblility of
471dps increase in a 20sec fight
(one moonfire+starfire crit extra).
Better options for Boomkins
imho(raid drops excluded):
Abyssal Rune
Sundial of the Exiled
Talisman of Resurgence
Darkmoon Card: Greatness
When I sum it up like this, I think this trinket is abit overrated. I've grinded for it myself, but when I see these numbers, I will rather keep my
Abyssal Rune
+
Sundial of the Exiled
.
Abyss proc(25%)
and
Sundial proc(10%)
stacks btw, so thats 1180 extra spellpower in the start of most fights(45sec internal CD). I like that burst better then a 3min CD on-use-burst(and in the long run, those two trinkets = 225static spellpower on average+84crit rating+84haste rating)
Edit: these numbers are derived from a boomkin who does 5.5-6k dps on heroic instance bosses. Smaller crits means this trinket is even worse.

This dropped today and nobody wanted it. I won it in a greed roll on my hunter and was about to vendor it when I noticed the increased +crit on there. Just for fund tried it out on a target dummy. I does indeed increase +crit momentarily when used (in my case from 41.27% to 61.31% ranged). This was reflected in a slight increase in Autoshot (and other) crits. But it was not a huge change overall since the CD is quite long and the rest of the time, it adds little (I think it boosts arcane shot, but that is never in my rotation). It also did not change my stings damage, just made them crit 4% more (I have the Windrunner set bonus).
So, imho, not a hunter trinket, I know we are made fun of because we ninja everything but leave this one to the lesser classes ;-)

For people like me who just want to see it in a simple format, here:
920 Crit Rating = around about 20% crit chance
On initial proc this trinket will provide a buff awarding 20% crit, every other critical strike after this initial proc will diminish the 20% buff by 4% per crit
so
PROC =20%= > 16% > 12% > 8% > 4% > base crit

As a Moonkin i'll slap a macro to connect this to moonfire, so it gets the effect in full, then start casting IS before it, then my wrath spam will make eclipse proc faster and with any luck ill get onto starfire to refresh the moonfire (with tier bonus for critting) and have a sizable dps increase :D, only once per fight, but makes a big difference for starting that insane chain of crit us Boomers love

An idea occurred to me whilst reading this post.
if indeed the renewal of a dot via afflock or spriest means the renewal of the crit bonus from this trinket too (is this true? seems to be some questionability), what happens 3 mins down the line when you activate the trinket again? does it stack?
of course not i guess, that would be insane.
900 crit rating for 20 secs (minus degredation from direct crits) for 3 mins is 1/9 uptime
900 rating 1/9 uptime = 100 crit rating
111 +spellpower and 100 crit rating, is overpowered (or lovely), hence the degradation.
my synopsis hence forth is that the usefullness of this trinket for a "dot" class is greater than a direct damage class. you could make an agrument to say that it is more useful for a warlock (affliction) than a spriest, due to the lack or crittable reducers in an afflock rotation.
i would ask mages etc to have some grace and pass for a dot class, but hey need is need.

Crit rolls with dots. Blue post this morning reads, in relevant part, as follows:
"e probably won't be changing the way rolling crit works any time soon. You can use it without fear of ramifications from us."
Good luck to spriests and affliction locks hunting for this.

If you are in a fight that your corruption or shadow word pain is likely to fall off your target, you won't want to use this trinket every 3 min, but wait for when you have to reapply your dot.

It would be pretty good for Hot Streak. Too bad nobody is a fire mage anymore.

Done 15 runs in PoS now and it dropped for me the 2 first times but never seen it drop since then. Lost both to arcane mages. As a shadow priest I rly would like this.. also I find it rather stupid that retris can roll for sp gear since they dont rly gain anything on it (compared to attackpower/str)... almost lost the dps neck in FoS to a retardin.
Got one question. At maxdps.com this trinket is ranked as the 10th best trinket "dps wise" for shadowpriests, but do they just calculate the average crit it provides or do they take in the calculation that u constantly have 20% inc. crit on SW:P?

Using hyperspeed accelrators causes this to go on a 10 second cooldown.

Ok, got some results here.
Activated trinket once and refreshed it via shadowbolt-haunt-drain life.
Tested it for nearly 4 mins, got 38 crit ticks and 27 non-crit ticks. So yes, refreshing your dot via other spells (if talented) makes the trinket effect a bit OP!
Good luck afflocks and spriests!

I don't understand why blizzard isn't writing HARMFUL spells on this one. Healers already got a trinket in ICC 5mans, and this only gives them one more trinket to take even though it's totally crap for them.

As a warrior i was thinking, this trinket ain't bad, yeah we don't need the spell power but since warriors don't use spells it would be like having recklessness up for 20 sec. Giving some nice burst damage :p

SSHH, they hear us...
(got this tonight, on a 6 min dummy test my SWP had 54.6% crit)
Nr.7 on shadowpriest.com trinket list, but in stationary fights I say it is better than that, untill they fix it. And they wont until cataclysm, because they cant. ^^

Is it just me or this item is a very rare drop from the last boss from PoS HC? I have been doing this for the last 20 tries and I never saw it dropping. Either I am very unlucky or I don't know...

Ok nobody has mentioned this yet but this trinket looks like it would be very strong for a hunter with points into the talent that makes 1 int = 1 AP makes this trink give a constant 111 AP and a giant on use crit buff, crit is for spells and physical dps yes?

A friend just got flamed for rolling on this as a holy pally. Be warned, there are still people out there who don't understand that spellpower and crit are good for healers. Whole guilds of them, apparently.

Is there any reason this would be good for a holy pally?
Absolutely terrible trinket for holy pallys. With abilities like
Illumination
and
Infusion of Light
, it's obvious that a massive boost to crit and spell power for 20 seconds would reduce their mana effiency and decrease their healing output...

I'm surprised no one here has tested this with a melee dps yet. Yeah yeah yeah, the tooltip says:
"Every time one of your
non-periodic spells
deals a critical strike..."
But think about it: That portion of the proc refers to when the crit rating gets
reduced
. Which means if it doesn't apply to melee, the stacks never get reduced, and using this trinket would give you the full 920 crit rating for 20 sec. Chances are this trinket would still work out to be crap for most melee, but ret pallies and enhance shamans at least get some benefit from the 111 sp as well.
Then again, maybe normal melee abilities can reduce the stack, while auto-swings won't. Or maybe both will, I have no clue. Hence why I think someone should at least test it out.

AFFI locks:
Pop out this and a SP trinket just before Corruption. (aswell as life tap for SP etc) and newer letting it expire (refrest with hount) at bosses and it will do an enormeous buff for your DpS.
Then just look and drool over Recount =)

While its not a BiS trink for healing , if Disc is your off spec it can still be used pretty effectively. Pop this trinket cast SW:P->DP->Penance. If your Penance target has the weakened soul debuff, you should crit all three ticks and end up with a nice big Divine Aegis on your target, with some boosted DoTs on the boss. This is from my own observations and playing, so this may need verification.

For affliction locks (depending on your other gear, of course), this should be about equal in value to
Dislodged Foreign Object
. If you're affliction and plan to stay that way (and don't mind risking Blizzard "fixing" rolling crit), you may definitely want to consider saving your DKP for something else if DFO drops.
This of course assumes rolling crit perfectly on corruption, which in many encounters is very hard to do, or just impossible. Keep that in mind, as well.

I have done Tyrannus about 30 times and i have never seen this trinket drop, i need it for PvP, and Im getting more or less enraged for each time.. So, does this trinket really have 13% drop chance..?

What do you guys think about using this trinket and the shaman t10 4 piece bonus? Which is:
4 pieces: Your Chain Heal critical strikes cause the target to heal for 25% of the healed amount over 9 sec.
Would you use this over say the Lunar Dust trinket?

I still wonder whether this whole item and page is joke to wind me up. It's an incredible trinket for a shadow priest, but after 16 kills I'm still yet to see this trinket drop. My maths may be wrong, but (100-13)^16=1%, surely the odds of seeing battered hilt alone drop from those 16 runs must be higher, but it funny how luck works, because I haven't seen that drop. Knowing my luck I'll lose it to a dk or something when it drops.
And this trinket is good for a holy paladin, but there are better, more healer optimised trinkets to get so I'd pass on it if there's another caster dps (especcially affli warlocks and shadow priests, for whom this trinket is probably the bis till icc).

This is a pledge to all holy paladins out there who would like to give this trinket a try, please concider if your party has a shadow priest or an affliction warlock who needs it. It's worth 188,5 raw spellpower to a shadow priest and maybe even more to an affliction warlock.
This is an excellent trinket for any dps caster, not just shadow priests and affliction warlocks. For a healer, the added crit chance would be nice if you have some proc on crits, but otherwise crits often mean that you'll just overheal even more than normal.
Edit: Not sure what the downrating is about. Please correct me if you think I'm wrong.
What I'm saying is that we shouldn't just determine which class/spec gets the absolute most out of an item and everyone else should pass on the item. Any dps caster (mages, elemental shaman, boomkins) can make good use of this trinket but healers make limited use of it.
Healers have "oh no!" buttons like nature's swiftness or lay on hands for when they need a big heal
now
. The usage of this trinket gives the healer a slightly increased chance to possibly have some larger than average heals within the next 20 seconds. Because of the unpredictable nature of the bonus crit this isn't the kind of thing that will save a tank, its the kind of ability that will generate a lot of overhealing.

If this is used for an AOE (say shamans Fire Nova) is the buff reduced more for each crit on each mob?
