Is there a cooldown on the proc? What if I were to AOE and get tons of crits at one time. Would they all count on the proc chance? or is there a single proc chance per spell? I assume it will be similar to the

This item, in its current state (patch 3.0) is likely overpowered for priests with Circle of Healing and a basic level of crit (20% or so), assuming it will potentially proc from any of the 5 (or 6) COH targets critting.
It will also be interesting to see if Prayer of Mending crits will proc it as well.
I expect to see a pretty stiff internal cooldown.

As has been mentioned, fantastic paladin trinket. Any decent pally has 30%+ holy crit shortly after they start raiding, and not only does this trinket boost that crit rate, but it also provides a great chance to gain extra regen from it - effectively boosting the power of Illumination.
However
, how good this trinket really is depends entirely on the internal cooldown. If it's 1 min, which would seem reasonable, that's 75 mp5, assuming you proc it very shortly after the minute expires. If that's the case, it's fantastic - another of the great healing trinkets, Living Ice Crystals, has a static 43 mp5, and this would blow it out of the water. However, if it's a 2 min ICD, it's be 37.5 mp5 - still great, but it wouldn't be an 'automatic choice' trinket.
All in all though, it looks like a very promising trinket, and as a healadin it's on my wishlist.

This trinket is by far the best for Holy Paladins. Considering by the time you can down 25 man Sapphiron you will have at least 32-38% crit (not counting talented spell specific bonuses like Holy Light and Holy Shock), you will be proc'ing this trinket virtually seconds after the ICD is u (~45 secs on ICD and ~25% proc).
Considering the badge trinkets are absolute garbage for Holy Paladins and there are almost no quality trinkets we can get from Heroics this should be a priority.

Are you kidding?
Firstly, the badge trinket is *not* garbage for a holy paladin. The passive spell power is fantastic, and the haste proc means you save about 0.1 secs on a FoL - a small increase, yes, but a potent one when you consider how much a single FoL heals for.
Aside from that, there are a few decent trinkets from instances. Jet'ze's Bell (sp) is a world drop, the Forge Ember from H-Halls of Stone is fantastic (passive crit, SP proc on spell cast), and the Cannoneer's Fuselighter from Icecrown offers a fair amount of passive crit and a SP use effect.
Yes, this trinket is great and I hope to get one - but don't think it's the only option you have available. There are a number of good trinkets before this.

This trinket is currently also one of the best trinkets for Holy Priests.
A deep holy spec is very synergetic with crit (Inspiration, Test of Faith, Holy Concentration, Surge of Light, and even Serendipity since Crits usually yield over heal) that the extra crit will not only give more time outside the FSR, but the 900 mana back would probably be procced shortly after the ICD comes up.
A priest in Deep naxx gear can easily reach 25% crit unbuffed, which makes this an excellent trinket for them.

Tried this trinket out on Kel'thuzad. ~10 minute fight, returned 7200 mana (8 procs) ~
60 mp5
I'm a holy priest, used CoH quite a bit, but only the 2nd phase of the fight. 1st phase I was kinda passive. Had 23,40% crit raidbuffed.
I'll update this post when I try the trinket out on different bosses, lets say Patchwerk & Thaddius, but combined with the extra Surge of Light & Holy Concentration procs plus Serendipity due to overhealing critical heals this trinket generates, I'm pretty sure it's one of the best currently available.

This trinket seems to have a 45 sec cool down. As a holy pally with over 36% holy crit raid buffed the the proc comes up roughly once a min. Meaning a gain of 4500 mana over a 6 min fight. which is an increase of 1500 mana over the gains you would get from the darkmoon card illusion if you used it no more then 1 min into the fight the first time allowing for a second use at the very end of the fight. In the question of mana generation this is in my opinion the best trinket for holy paladin not to mention its mana gen is equip rather then use.

I know we're often overlooked, but... Don't forget the Elemental Shamans, we live off crit, and this would be insanely useful for us as well. Yes, I don't dispute a healer would love this, and wouldnt roll against one for it if they needed it on mainspec, but.. if not.. yeah, Im putting a bid in against any other DPS caster for it.

Everyone forgets the moonkin, aka the boomkin, aka the CRIT chicken. I have over 40% crit unbuffed and I will definately be rolling on this trink, the high crit on it will not only increase my already crazy crit rate, but the mana return will allow me to redo a few gems and talents. Which will give me a substantial boost in dps.
I won't complain if any other caster with higher than 25% crit rolls as well, but no can tell me that any other class benefits more from crit. The most casual glance the talent tree will tell you that druid casting is built on crit.

As a resto sham, would this stack with the mana return from IWS for HW and LHW crits? I'm thinking Patchw with LHW glyphs and Earthshielded LHW/RT spams on tank. Mana returns would be amazing even with internal cooldowns and reduced return on IWS for LHW.

What about Discipline Priests? I use crit to get my Divine Aegis in the Discipline tree and Inspiration in the Holy Tree to proc. More Crit for me = better armor and damage absorption for the Tanks saving Mana for all of the Tank healers. You know I'm rolling on this when it Drops!

I use this as a holy paladin with 31.41% crit unbuffed. For those who'd like a somewhat more empirical take on it, most nights, according to the WWS parses, I regain roughly the same amount of mana from this (+/- ~10%) that I do from the Insightful meta gem--quite promising, since it can only improve as I get more crit.

I would probably rate

over this for Holy Paladins as Divine Plea has better synergy with the card. Then again you don't have to try and buy 8 nobles cards.
This isn't to be sniffed at if you are having mana issues, but it's not one I would spend my DKP on.

Recently I have been raiding with this item and getting less mana back overall.
Raid buffed I have 45% - 61% crit rating.
Anyone else have experience with some sort of internal cool down on this?
In a 3 hour raid I am getting back about 81,000 mana from trinket procs.
I think I should clarify, I know about the assumed internal cooldown of 45 seconds. My question is, has that icd changed from 45 to something like 60 seconds?
As stated above, I noticed a decrease in mana gained from the trinket post patch 3.0.8
If it is a change to the icd, the trinket is still viable for mana regen but may be better suited for classes with worse mana regen issues. The change may have made it on par with consuming a potion once per boss fight.

Got this earlier tonight. Decided to work out precisely how much 'mp5' it's worth.
It has a 45 second ICD for a 900 mana proc. However, as the proc requires a crit (unlike many that just require a spell cast) let's say that on average it will take an extra 15 secs to force the proc after the ICD expires (to be on the safe side).
900 mana per 60 secs (45 ICD + 15 sec activation) = 75 mp5
The 2% crit edges it out over the Darkmoon Card: Greatness for a holy paladin at least. The card is worth about the same level of mp5, but over the course of a fight is worth about 1.44% crit and 48 SP - 2% crit definitely edges this out for HL spam (and why would you even invest in a Darkmoon Card if you were FoL spamming? ^^).

I got this tonight - as a holy 'critadin' healer, I'm still gearing up so raid buffed my holy crit chance is only 41%.
I equipped the Soul of the Dead for the next battle with Kel - and I love it - In a battle lasting around 9 mins the trinket returned just under 10,000 mana.

Checked the gain in mana over time on 2 fights tonight: KT and Sarth.
Total Time: 897 seconds
Total mana returned from Soul of the Dead: 13,500
Mana per 5: 75.25.
Of course the added crit also helps with regen of mana all on its own so the total benefit of the trinket is higher of course.
Hope this helps.

hey...im a resto shammy have 35% crit raid buffed and was wondering if anyone would have an equation to figure out the return of mana (mp5) on this trinket. Also; Will i get more mana return with more crit (which is obvious but asking anyway), and how much more per % of crit. I dont really have a prob with heroic naxx even chain pulling to KT, only drinking about 5 times during entire dungeon. as an afterthought ; I dont know if it matters but my haste is 10% and my mp5 is about 550 without the use of manaspring

dya reckon this would be good for balance druids? last sentence of moonkin form says that single target spell criticals have a chance to restore 2% mana, so that + 900 mana from this would restore about 1075 mana for me...
that seems pretty good to me.

Resto shaman, spamming CH (glyphed) on patchwerk with 32% crit. Fight duration three minutes thirty-six seconds. Six procs for total of 5400 mana. 5400 mana / 216 seconds = 25mps or 125 mp5.
With Soul of the Dead, Je'Tze's Bell, Insightful Earthsiege Diamond and Replenishment... mana has become a complete non-issue for me. I can neglect to rebuff water shield and not care. I'm looking to replace any gear with mp5 for gear with haste & crit. Keeping tier chest, gloves, pants and shoulders for set bonus, and looking to replace helm with DPS tier.

For Holy Priests this is still one of the best regen trinkets.
Spark of Hope is difficult to calculate because the mana it saves varies so much. With my playstyle (emphasis on CoH, PoH, ProM) the equip effect is equal to 40 mp5 to 60mp5 on a typical Ulduar encounter. The 100 spirit gives 25 spellpower, and 25 mp5 while casting, making the trinket's total value ~75mp5, 25 spellpower
Pandora's Plea give's an extra 1620 mana from intellect, an extra 810 mana from Shadowfiend, and 20mp5 from replenishment. The 108 intellect accounts for .65 crit (~7mp5 from Holy Concentration). On a 5 minute fight that's a total of 3630 mana, or 67mp5. On a 10 minute fight (2x shadowfiend) it accounts for 5640 mana, or 54mp5. Hymn of Hope is worth ~3mp5 (not accounting for gains when used with shadowfiend) and Arcane Torrent is worth ~4mp5. The proc is worth on average 140 sp.
Soul of the Dead reliably gives 900 mana every minute which on it's own is worth 75mp5. Going by Elitist Jerks' assumption that 1% crit is equal to ~10mp5 with Holy concentration, the trinket's total value is ~95mp5.
All of these trinkets will work differently depending on your playstyle, your gear, and the encounter, but for me these are the approximate values for each trinket.
Spark of Hope: 75mp5, 25 spellpower
Pandora's Plea: 70mp5, 140 spellpower
Soul of the Dead: 95mp5

There was something bothering me about your math. So I decided to look it up. Your math is wrong.
You assumed that 4 hits on chain heal at 35% crit is 140% chance to crit. This is
false
.
The odds of an event happening
at least once
in
n
occurrences can be represented by a binomial equation.
(
a
+
b
)^
c
a
is the chance for success: In this case .35
b
is the chance for failure: In this case .65
c
is the number of events: In this case 4
So we have (.35 + .65)^4. But wait, you may say, this just equals 1. Exactly. The number of successes + the number of failures will always equal 100% :)
You have to expand the equation to find the odds for each breakdown of successes and failures. So we have:
(a + b)^4 = a^4 + 4a^3b + 6a²b² + 4ab^3 + b^4 = 1
Each of these terms represents a combination of occurrences:
a^4 = 4 successes 0 failures
4a^3b = 3 successes 1 failure
6a²b² = 2 successes 2 failures
4ab^3 = 1 success 3 failures
b^4 = 0 successes 4 failures
So, with all that, all we are interested in is seeing the crit happen
at least once
. So to find it out we just find out what the odds of complete failure is and subtract that from 1. (Because that is the only case where the crit will not happen.
The number we get is 0.1785 or 17.85% assuming 35% crit rate (and hence 65% non crit). Subtracting this from 1 gives us ~0.8214 or roughly 82.14% chance for a critical.
Now given that the proc chance of this trinket is 25% per critical, the odds of actually getting a proc change. You would have to apply the same mechanics but for each event breakdown and then you would have to add those together because all you care about is a single proc.
tl;dr
Your math was wrong. Assuming a 35% critical chance on a 4 target chain heal, your odds that at least ONE of them will crit is not 140%. It is 82.14%
EDIT: Figures, I didn't read all of the posts and therefore I didn't see that someone said the same thing. He explained it the simplest way. I just went into the pedantic details of why his simple explanation works.

Currently I have 13% crit on my druid.
Nature's Grace
,
Nature's Bounty
and
Living Seed
.
I use
Nourish
more as a emergency heal if the tank suddenly drops, other then that, I use
Regrowth
and
Swiftmend
to top him of, while I have
Rejuv
,
LB
and
Regrowth
on him.
So, how much do I need this trinket?
+2.07%crit
"Your spell critical strikes have a chance to restore 900 mana." (25%proc)
With this trinket I get 15%crit, it would give me a 1/4 of 15% chance to get this crit, thats 3.75% chance of this proccing. ..and 35%/4 = 8.75% chance of proc if I spam Nourish or Regrowth.
45sec internal CD
if I spam Nourish everytime the internal CD is up, I have to cast an average of 14sec before it procs.
so.. 45sec+14sec=59sec
The proc will give me 900mana every 59sec = 76mp5
BUT
, I will not spam Nourish for 14secs!
So, how much mp5 will this give me with my normal rotations?
I cast nourish maybe every 20sec on average(25sec less than int CD)
I cast regrowth maybe every 15sec on average(30sec less than int CD)
swiftmend every 20sec with 3.75% proc chance(25sec less than int CD)
I need to cast 12 total of Regrowth/Nourish for it to proc or 27 Swiftmend.
Nourish = 12casts over 265sec
Regrowth = 12casts over 210sec
Swiftmend = 27casts over 565sec
So..over a period of 565sec it will proc 1 time from Swiftmend,
2.7 times from Regrowth, and 2.13 times from Nourish.
5.83 procs over a period of 565 secs(+225sec for the int CDs in between)
1 proc every 135.5sec
900mana every 135.5sec ====
33.2mp5
So, as a druid with I get:
+33.2mp5
+2% crit
(+2% chance of increasing my spell casting speed by 20% for 3 sec,
Nature's Grace
)
(+2% chance of planting a
Living Seed
)
one way of getting this to proc more often, is to put Lifebloom on partymembers or yourself instead of rejuv. But if its not needed, you just end up using more mana then you gain.
Imho this is a pally trinket, since pally got loads more crit then druids. :)

One situation where this trinket would in fact be helpful to a spell damage dealer would be in the case of an ele shaman in pvp who is having mana issues, apply your flame shock, get your guaranteed crit, could be very helpful in that one specific case. However in almost every other case this is clearly a healer item.
