Legion World Quests Overview
World Quests in Legion are max-level content designed to be an improvement over daily quests.
A level squish was added in the Shadowlands expansion, which changes level ranges as reflected in this pre-Shadowlands guide. If you want to know how the levels represented here translate to the new post-squish levels, there's a handy chart on the Level Squish in Shadowlands guide that will help you translate.

World Quest Basics
At level 110, max level, world quests appear in all Legion zones:
. World quests with exceptionally good rewards have a small chance to spawn on
You must also hit Friendly with the 5 major Legion factions to unlock World Quests, in the quest
. This will also award the handy teleport item
World Quests all have different durations, with longer durations reserved for more challenging quests. They do not 'reset' at a certain time like daily quests.
There is no cap on the amount of World Quests you can complete a day. However, when you complete a quest, a new quest will not automatically spawn.
World Quests have a variety of rewards.
World Quests are the same for everyone on your realm, so you can find people easily to complete group quests.
hundreds of World Quests
and only a handful will be up at a time, so there is a low chance you will see the same quests repeatedly.
Wowhead has developed a feature that shows what quests are active in-game.
On the front-page "Today in Broken Isles" section, you will see what Emissary quests are up.
World Quests Tool
, you can see every single World Quest that is active as well as item rewards. You can filter by reputation and quest types.
Starting a World Quest
When you mouseover the map at the flightmaster, a tooltip will appear summarizing how many World Quests are in a particular zone.
Zooming in on the flightmaster path shows which quests are near each flightpath.
The world map also displays what quests are in each zone.
To start a World Quests, simply travel to the relevant area--the quest will automatically pop up, similar to bonus objectives in Warlords of Draenor.
To decide which World Quests to complete, look at the tooltips to determine if the difficulty and rewards are worth it, as well as what faction you want to earn reputation with.
Types of World Quests
The different types of world quests will be indicated on your minimap:
Crossed Swords: This world quest involves PvP.
Purple "!" With Dragon Border: This world quest involves a World Boss.
Blue Skull With Dragon Border: This world quest involves a group and a dungeon.
Blue "!" With Dragon Border: This is a world quest that involves a group to kill a rare elite mob.
Normal "!" With a Dragon Border: This is a world quest involves a small group 2-3 people to kill a less deadly elite mob.
Normal "!": This is a world quest that is solo-able.
Profession Marker: This is a world quest that involves your profession. The quests which reward top-tier reagents roughly spawn every three days.
Green Paw Marker: This world quest involves pet battling.
World Quest tooltips display the following:
Name of the quest
Difficulty of the quest, indicated by name color
Quest type, indicated by map icon
Reputation awarded, if any
Time left - this varies greatly by type and difficulty of the quest
Rewards and Description
Kirin Tor World Quests
Kirin Tor World Quests work differently than other World Quests.
These quests send you on puzzles instead of traditional things like looting items or killing mobs.
You only need 3 quests instead of 4 for the emissary.
puzzle, a maze pattern will flash on the ground and you must successfully trace its path.
puzzle, you must jump on a manasaber and steer it through all of the magical patches before time runs out.
puzzle, you must move into a bubble, and then float with it as it moves through the air, taking care not to fall out of the bubble. This is trivialized with flying.
puzzle, you must dash to floating objects to bounce around until you reach an objective. This is trivialized with flying.
puzzle, you must keep track of a barrel as it moves around between other barrels.
There are also several Dungeon quests that count towards the Kirin Tor, to complete an activity and then defeat the final boss of an instance. These are detailed in the World Quests section of each
Dungeon Strategy Guide
There are very few Kirin Tor world quests up at once.
Armies of Legionfall World Quests
Armies of Legionfall World Quests also work a bit differently than regular zone World Quests:
These quests are unique to the Broken Shore and require the completion of
to unlock. Several more quests spawn when
Cathedral of Eternal Night

unlocks a World Boss World Quest.
These quests also reward 5

, you can make a building contribution which rewards an Artifact Power token.
An emissary has been added to the rotation in Patch 7.3.
Invasion World Quests
Invasions spawn every 18h30m and the first step requires players to complete four demon-themed quests. Full details in the
Legion Assault Guide
Legion Assaults will replace all the World Quests in a specific zone with Demon-themed World Quests.
These new World Quests must be completed for the zone-specific world quests to return and to advance the Assault (i.e.
These Demon-themed World Quests reward tons of Nethershards! They can also drop the usual World Quest items like Order Resources and Artifact Power.
These World Quests can be completed by players under 110 and reward a hefty amount of experience. These World Quests unlock on alts if you already have a level 110 character.
Argus World Quests
Argus is a large planet in Patch 7.3 that has three zones. Within these zones, various World Quests unlock as you complete Argus Story Quests:
World Quest Rewards
The quality of the rewards from World Quests increase based on the difficulty of the quest:
Gold, items which grant Artifact Power (which scale up based on Artifact Knowledge), 400-500
, follower equipment items,
, ilvl 805+ gear and relics
Profession quests will also reward profession reagents, including rare items like
. "Work Order" profession quests reward various recipes, each profession has 6:
: Elixirs and Potions
: Leystone plate armor
: Ring and neck enchants
: Several gadgets including
: Vantus Runes for Emerald Nightmare Bosses
: Several rings and necks
: Battlebound and Warhide leather and mail armor
: Silkweave cloth armor
Battle Pet quests
have a chance to reward stones and pet charms.
have a chance to reward current season Combatant gear.
Elite quests tend to have better rewards than regular quests.
World Quest rewards are not unique to World Quests; they are also found through other means like dungeon bosses or Emissary Satchels. In addition, each quest does not correlate to one specific reward; they are further randomized and multiple quests on a particular day can have the same reward.
Scaling Item Rewards
To keep World Quests interesting, the ilvl of item rewards will increase based on your current ilvl.
By default, World Quest rewards are 805 (810 if from an elite quest or PvP)
As your item level increases, you will find gear with higher ilvl rewards, starting at 895 for Argus World Quests. You can have multiple World Quests up with different ilvl rewards at the same time. The average ilvl of the rewards will increase based on the ilvl of your gear in your inventory.
In addition, World Quest rewards, like all other loot in Legion, have a chance to receive an ilvl boost via +5 ilvl increments. Small boosts are called Warforged, while larger ilvl boosts are called Titanforged.
Once an item is acquired, it will not scale up if your item level increases.
The amount of reputation from World Quests greatly vary, from 75 at the low end to 250-350 for rare elite world group quests.
All quests state which faction they award reputation with in the tooltip. Each zone is associated with a particular faction.
Wardens World Quests award reputation for the
and the faction associated with that zone. For example, the rare elite world quest
rewards 250 reputation with both the Wardens and Valarjar, since it takes place in Stormheim.
Kirin Tor World Quests award reputation with the Wrath faction
, as well as reputation for the zone you are in. For example, the Highmountain version of
grants 75 reputation with the Kirin Tor and Highmountain Tribe. In Suramar, Kirin Tor World quests instead grant 50 Nightfallen reputation.
Emissary quests offer a way to get a larger amount of reputation, detailed below.
Emissary Quests and Rewards
Each day, a new Emissary will offer bonus rewards for completing 4 quests for a particular Legion faction.
See what Emissary is active by opening up your map.
Each Emissary goes away after 3 days. So you don't need to worry about logging on every day or else you'll miss the Emissary.
You can have up to 3 Emissary Quests at once to complete.
Clicking on the Emissary icon will highlight the relevant World Quests.
Completing an Emissary quest awards 1500 reputation with that faction and a satchel:
: Turn in
. Quests found in Highmountain.
: Turn in
. Quests found in Azsuna.
: Turn in

There is an additional Emissary which works slightly differently.

usually contains items for nightfallen reputation. Haven't find anything similar in satchels rewarded by other factions.
Edit: for clarification
The Kirin Tor emissary quest does award reputation, but for the old Kirin Tor faction.
Quick question; Is there a required skill level for the professions quests?
What time each day do the Emissary Quests pop?
Where is the location of emissaries?
If you're doing dungeon finder and get one of the ones currently with a world quest, does it complete?
How often are the world quests uppdated? I mean how often do you get new worldquests?
Does it matter what difficulty you complete the dungeons for the dungeon world quests? For example if the loot is a piece of mythic gear, does the dungeon need to be completed on mythic?
how do you know which world quests you completed already and which ones are new?
Dungeon expeditions can be done in any difficulty. And don't need to be queued specifically
I'm having a major issue just unlocking world quests in the first place. I still need rep with the Stormheim faction to activate it, but I chose Suramar first, and then quickly found out that it's a LONG questline to get that done (feels even longer now that I'm 110 and still have my leveling gear so the scaling makes the mobs hit really hard). My guildies and trade chat both told me I can change my scouting map to Stormheim to easily finish their rep, but my scouting map is completely missing, not sure if this is a bug or if I'm missing some key piece of information. I even tried going to Stormheim directly but there's only a few quests not related to the main story-line, which was not enough to get to friendly. I've been looking everywhere for a solution, but so far nothing. Anyone have any ideas or similar issues?
You left off one under the TYPES section. There is also a Blue "!" icon, which I think always rewards a blue piece of gear.
If you already completed a mythic dungeon this week before accepting world quest, grouping with other player who didn't complete it will help to get boss kill credits in order to finish mentioned quest. There will be no loot though from the boss (apparently even quest items requite loot eligibility in some cases).
If we do the set of quests for the chest, where do we turn that part in? I can't find any info anywhere on this.
do we know if the emissary quests are on a specific rotation, or specific day they are available? or are they random? i have done all emissary quests to the point that every day is a "new" emissary quest, with no others to do. as of date of positing, i have rotation being kirin tor, warden, dreamweavers, court of falondis, nightfallen, and dont have highmountian or valjar in supposed rotation. want to know if i can "plan" ahead, to make sure certain reps are completed (mainly nightfallen).
Is it possible to get a map of Dalaran on the
page? I randomly checked my map while there to find that I had a Tailoring WQ today.
It is now five instead od four quests starting tomorrow.
What is the world quests cool-down?
I was looking for information about the reward scaling. How does the itemlevel affect gear rewards, and what determines the level of artifact power items. Is it based on current AP cost for next level, or of your highest artifact weapon maybe? What if you quest in dps spec but spend all AP on your healing artifact for example. So many questions... nobody knows.
where do you turn in the quest to get the bag?
Just thought it'd be nice to point out that if you start doing a world quest and the timer runs out, you're given an extra 15 mins to complete it!
This can be especially helpful if, like me, you're on the last quest of Emissary and it's about to expire.
Can confirm as of 9/28 realm restarts, I recieved a 870 Titanforged
Tranquil Bough Hood
. from Dreamweavers Provisions emissary cache.
I have dona a lot of world quests, you can find them here
New for 7.1: Not needing friendly rep on a level 110 alt for opening world quests.
Re: World Quests for Alts
"For alts, you do not need to hit Friendly with the five factions to unlock World Quests; you simply need to be level 110."
Not sure if this has already been pointed out... but you MUST login to your main character that has opened up world quests, first. THEN, login to your 110 alt to get world quests opened up.
I had already started the quest on an alt... and it did not clear out until I had jumped on my main.
Did something happen with 7.1 and the Kirin Tor world quests or is RNG being exceptionally R? I haven't seen any WQs in days and today is the second Wardens day since I've been keeping track and there's been no KT in the interim.
It's not going to break me, but they're my favorite. For reasons.
There is now a page for this world quest. The Azsuna version is
, so I migrated the info that I had previously posted here to that page.
There is actually another
world quest in
, called "
Like the Wind
". It does not seem to have a page up on Wowhead yet, but it is a real pain in the butt puzzle quest. ...
Not sure it's worth asking here as some of these guides never seem to get updated.
But it's missing some very important information. How are stats of items chosen? Do you have any control over it?
For instance, I got on my shaman who was in enhancement spec but has resto chosen as the Loot specialization. I looked at a world quest for a trinket and it was showing an agility trinket. I went and did the quest and received an agility trinket.
I hopped on my druid who was in guardian spec and has guardian chosen as his loot specialization. I go look at the exact same world quest and it's showing an Intell trinket. I did the quest and got an Intell trinket.
Is there no way to control this? Is it just more rng?
Same kind of thing with artifact types (fire, shadow, arcane, etc). Seems to be "kind of" random per toon. Most of the time it's the same but sometimes it isn't. I suspect there is some kind of rule behind it instead of rng.
hi i have problem with my wq because they not showing on my map in a game and theres always one emissary quest missing :( but when i open the legion app on the phone i can see them (wq) and the emissary quests and if i go to the place where the wq is i will be able to do it but still cant see it. can you help me its been like that for about 2 weeks?
If you have a profession that makes armor for your type (paladin BS, hunter LW ect.), and a WQ comes up to supply armor that you haven't collected yet, you can make it, wear it for transmog, take it off then turn it in for the quest.
Hey, question - Do Profession World Quests also grant reputation?
The reputation rewards from normal WQ's are too damn low.
Can someone explain to me what it means on the world map when a quest says "
Does that mean that if you do not complete that quest before that time then it is no longer available, or what please?
Thanks in advance!
Does anyone know if the WQ that were in the zone before the Legion Invasion takes over the zone, then return in the same position with remaining time left after the Legion invasions? There's a PVP WQ I went to do which had 2 hours left but then the invasion was there but I don't want to miss out!
Hello everyone. I still don't understand what i need to do. I do like 30-40 quests per day and i still don't have all reputations.. Can someone help me?
From what I understand artgus scales with ivlvl based on otherstuff.
So does that mean I should sell my 895 gear? I mean, I always seem to get 895 gear regardless of what I have equipped which is currently 928.
As of patch 7.3.5, I had my enchanting profession world quests appear when I reached
in enchanting. I assume level 75 is needed for all professions to get the world quests to 'pop'.
I can't complete quest I will start a quest and it will show I have done nothing any help is apperciated
I've noticed that a hotfix or two into BfA, the gold rewards from world quests were cut in half. This is most noticeable with dungeon quests; they would average in around 400g, but now they're around 200g. X(
FOR BFA content / PATCH 8.1.5
(64hrs of gold farming WQ pain VS 1 hr at the job to pay a sub?)
If you did
only Emissary WQs
(1500 rep+4x75rep /WQ) to obtain a Paragon chest (4000g/chest). (About 24 emissary WQuests)
an emissary WQ. (no DEZ or other drops from questing or mission table added)
If a token is worth 120k then you will have to do all Emissary Quest in a month on 4 alts to break even.
Without flying I don't see this happening it will take you 2hrs per alts only for 3 emmisary chests when it's all calculated it's
of gold farming this way just to pay a sub 1 month...
Work IRL, play less, don't aim to get gold with this method. AH is going down , then Blizzard activision will see subs go down and give you mission table$$$ juicy rewards just to stay in until the next expansion.
Time for hibernation WOW.
Can the Argus world quests still reward armour pieces? Have been trying to get the Garothi plate pieces for transmog as a 120 but they don't seem to appear.
In 8.3 you can simply unlock legion world quests by talking to Khadgar in the Violet Citadel in the Broken Isles Dalaran. Accept the quest "Uniting the Isles" and then turn it in immediately to Khadgar. I did this on my 120 Warrior that I had only done the introductory class hall quest.
Herbalism appears to work differently than the professions other than possibly mining. In order to see the Herbalism WQ's I had to complete the first gathering quest* for each herb. I did this on a day when Lively Starlight Roses was up and the WQ appeared just after I turned in the last completed quest. I already was friendly with all 5 factions and my Legion Herbalism was in the low 40's when I got the WQ.
*these will have "sample" in the quest name.
With prepatch, what level do we need to be to unlock world quests now?
