It kinda wierd being able to kill Malygos, despite the fact he was at one time teamed with Deathwing i never thought of him as a villian.
This place gonna be Wotlk first/second 1boss raid
I don't get it.Will he be alone or with other bosses? And i don't think you need to kill him either.Just defeat him.
I suppose it will, lore-wise, be more the "Kalecgos" type of encounter.
But for all those who don't know anything about te lore behind boss:
Malygos is one of the five
Alexstrasza, the Red - Her Domain is Life, and all living things. Thus, she especially cares for the lesser races (Humans, Elves, Dwarfs, etc.)
Nozdormu, the Timeless - He is the Ruler of Time. There is very litte known about him, except for the fact that he is the ruler of The Bronze Dragonflight. In order to not make him over-confident, he exactly knows when his life is gonna end.
Malygos, the Spell-Weaver - He is the Creator and Guardian of all magic. After his Dragonflight was completely extinguished by Deathwing during the War of the Ancients, he had gone mad. Now, after Alexstrasza recreated his flight, all he remembers is that the night elves had caused all that desaster by toying recklessly with the magic of the well of eternity. Fearing that something like this might happen again due to the massive use of magic on Azeroth, he has declared war on the Mages of Azeroth, especially the Kirin Tor of Dalaran.
Ysera, the Dreamer - Her realm is the Emerald Dream. Her eyes are almost always closed, in fact, the only occasion she opened them was when the aspects fought Deathwing after they had rearchieved their full power.
Deathwing (formerly Neltharion, the Earth-Warden) - His realm was/is the Earth. During the war of the ancients, he went mad and made the other aspects put a part of their power into an artifact called the
. Secretly, he didn't put his power in, thus, he was the only aspect at full power.
Now, in WotLK, Malygos has declared war on the spellcasters, and Alexstrasza and the Red Dragonflight, following their vow to Rhonin during
The Day of the Dragon
, fight against Malygos.
I suppose, in this encounter, once we get Malygos down to a certain percentage, he will realize that spellcasters aren't that bad, and stop his attacks. This is very possible because it is unlikely that Blizz will let an such huge Character as the Dragon Aspect of Magic be killed.
the thing is malygos is now evil because he thinks that WE are all evil using magic for destructive perpuses... so.... in this case evil is relative
Actually, Malygos does meet his end in the Eye of Eternity, if the voice files are any indication. Alexstrasza and other members of the Red Flight aid you in the battle against him, which concludes with his death.
Its pretty much confirmed i think that all the leaders of the dragonflights will appear in the new expansion (except for Deathwing as what is in the chamber of aspects is still to be revealed)
He cant die, Blizzard would be totally retarded for letting something as great as an aspect die to the meager mortals of azeroth. And the way this fight is gonna play out is everyone will be on the backs of the red dragon flight, its a mounted combat raid.
the fact that we kill malygos, one of the oldest (if not thé oldest) creatures still alive on azeroth might seem a bit weird since he is one of the aspects, but i can understand it...
first of all, it will not be a handfull of mortals that kills him, we just assist in weakening him and in the end alextraza and her flight will be the ones who kill him because he cant be reasoned with anymore and is a threat to the entire world...
then there is the fact that he is an aspect. he was made an aspect by the titans to guard the realm of the arcane in their absence. all of his children have inhabited the power their father has, although they are much younger and cant wield it with the same potential just yet. im guessing that after his death he will be succeeded by one of his children. my guess is tyrygosa will become the new aspect, with kalecgos as her prime consort, based on the following bit of info from wowwiki:
Tyrygosa, in the disguise of Tyri, can currently be seen in Celestial Ridge in Netherstorm in the Burning Crusade, along with Jorad Mace. She is involved in the investigation of nether dragons in the area. After asking adventurers to assist her by defeating the dominant Netherdragon in the area, Veraku, she plans to take control of the brood and keep them safe and in check.
Note: Nexus-Prince Shaffar has a
Cobalt Band of Tyrigosa
in his loot table. The ring bears the description: "This ring was empowered by the princess of the blue dragonflight." This could mean that she is the daughter of Malygos himself, or she could simply be a high-ranking member of the flight.
According to the lore panel at BlizzCon 2007, Tyrygosa returned to the Nexus with the nether drakes she had taken control of in Outland, where their Nether-warped physiology began to affect the Spell-Weaver himself. This effect helped Malygos to regain some of his lost sanity. As he recovered, the Spell-Weaver began to realize that magic use had run rampant across the world, mortals recklessly practicing their arts. He believes that this reckless spellcasting is what led to the War of the Ancients ten thousand years earlier, and the mortal mages could attract the Legion to Azeroth again - and because of that, they must be stopped. As a result, Malygos has declared war on all mortal spellcasters, but most especially the Kirin Tor of Dalaran. Dalaran itself is being relocated to Northrend, not only to direct the war effort against the Lich King but also against Malygos' crusade. The Red Dragonflight - keeping the promise made to Rhonin in Day of the Dragon - will aid the mortals in their battle against their erstwhile comrades.
It is unknown what part Tyri will play in Malygos' war.
Indeed, Hagelslag... I think we kill Malygos and then replace him...
I mean, just letting him die and then not finding a new leader would be foolish, since that probably WOULD mean that magic ran rampant across the world.
So... GO TYRI AND KALEC! WOOOH!
Anyone seen this?
Deliver a killing blow to a Scion of Eternity while riding on a
on Heroic Difficulty.
Deliver a killing blow to a Scion of Eternity while riding on a
does that mean you will be riding thouse when you are fighting this boss?
In phase 2, you get 9 mobs riding around on disks that spawn. The objective of the phase is to defeat all the disk riders.
Three of the riders come down to ground level where melee can get at them. After they die, they drop their disks which you can ride like a vehicle to get in melee range of the six other riders above the zone. Casters can also use the disks, but they don't need them to get in melee range.
A side benefit of casters riding the disks: all spells can be cast while moving, since you're moving the disk, not yourself.
The Eye of Eternity is the final instance of The Nexus where the final boss will be the blue dragon aspect Malygos.
Phase 1 and 2 are pretty much tank and spank ... Phase 3 is a lil bit more of a learning curve. I created these macros for my guildies, and we downed him in 2 attempts once they started using them
Phase 3 Dragon Macros:
--- DPS ---
/castsequence reset=target Flame Spike, Flame Spike, Engulf in Flames
--- Healing ---
/castsequence Revivify, Revivify, Life Burst
For a single-boss raid, the 10-man loot table is very small. I can think of half a dozen class specs that won't come here for the loot.
Yeah, but it's progression, the experience, some fun, and the amount of lore put into this storyline will mean anyone with even a small interest will want to see the fight.
Just because it doesn't drop upgrades for some specs, doesn't mean it's worthless. Think of Maggy, that was mostly casters, but melee still did it.
EoE is in Coldarra a sub region of Borean Tundra that can only be reached on a flying mount or via the single flight point at a alliance looking camp.
Malygos is the gardian of magic and due to other events in the wow lore as as stated above, he is at war with magic users, and due to this he is using the ley line of coldarra to funnel all the ley magic into the twisting nether.
It is also intresting to note all the ley lines converge at Karazhan.
This is also why you go into nexus and fight the blue dragon flight, that used to be friendly to the mortal races.
The Transitus Shield is a Kirin Tor camp, so therefore it can be used by both Alliance and Horde. You get a quest on Amber Ledge to go over to Coldarra, via a ride from the red dragon there. After you go there the first time, you can just get the flight path to the Transitus Shield directly, of course.

It should be noted that
Surge Needle Ring
also drops from Alexstrasza's Gift, but isn't listed under The Eye of Eternity drops, only under the Alexstrasza's Gift loot table.
is it only one boss :O... If so nice :D the new gruul ;)
What kind of DpS does one need for 10 man and for 25 man?
how does this compare in difficulty to
OS or any of the other raids?
Well as taticts seem to be lacking here is how my guild go about killing this guy.
1 x protection Paladin
1 x Unhold DK
1 x Resto druid & 1 Holy Priest - (Druid raid heals and helps on tank, Priest Tank heals and helps on raid)
4 x casters (We had 2 Warlocks and 2 mages)
1 x Retribution Paladin
1 x Fury Warrior
You want to be getting his health to below 50% FAST. Assign roughtly 3 minutes for this phase and nuke him hard. The tank must move around the edge of the inner circle to the oposite side to where the sparks appear and float in. The DK then Death Grips any that are not on course to the middle of the platform, they are then fixed in place (Mage frost nova or chains of ice from the DK) and killed in the centre of the platform. You need the 2 buff spark to buff your damage ebnough to get this phase done in enought time.
*Get your warlocks to DOT up the boss and you will get him to about 44% at the start of Phase 2 which helps for the final phase!
Again, you want to be passing this phase in around 3 minutes also. It's simple, Just get eferyone to stay onside the magis domes as they mitigate the damage received. There will be riders on disks and you need to kill the ones near the ground fast. As they die they driop disks and these are to be used by your mele. We had the retri paladin, fuiry Warrior and DK take the disks and once all the ground adds were dead the Prot paladin also went on a disk. Fly around and focus nuke the other 3 guys on the disks. Once dead Phase 3 starts!
*The raid continues to run around under the magic zones through out this fight and pop mana gems/potions / inervate if needed as in Phase 3 you will fly a drake and mana is not required.
The ground collapses and you all fall onto a drake and then you have to finish Malygos off. We had everyone doing these rotations on the drakes.
* 8 people dpsing pressing 1,1,1,1,1,2 and repeat (never press 5 unless you have 50 energy as if you are targeted by Malygos you must press 5 and shield yourself from the attack. You must also have 1 damaging attack on malygose for the shield to work.) If he targest you press 5 and dont get killed!
* 2 people healing casting 3 on the drakes that need healing (It's the same as Rejuvenation that resto druids cast) but will stack up to 5 times healing more each time. If you need to heal more people press 4 which is Life burst. This is an arcane explosion but it heals as apposed to do damage. So find somone needing a heal and stack 5 heals on them and then press 4 IF the raid need heals. Again, same as the dps'ers, keep your energy up over 50 if you press 4 (life Burst) so you always have the shield available if Malygos targets you.
If all goes well malygose dies and you can loot the chest floating in the sky!
Key points for phase 3!
1) Alway fly as a group. EVERYONE must stay together and we managed this by strafing aroung Malygos always to the right. This allows the healers to use Life burst which heals everyone as the whole raid is in range.
2) ALWAYS KEEP 50 ebergy before you cast your big attack as this will then leave you with 25 energy - as no energy = dead if targeted.
3) You need around 3 minutes to kill him in Phase 3.
4) If you use macros, check your UI dosnt change when mounted on a pet! AIf it does ALL your bars disapear which is a pain xD
Watch the timer also as although there is flexability on these 3 minuites per phase its a good marker and its better to wipe and try again if you are taking too long in Phase 1 as its not possible to kill him if you fall too far behind the schedule.
Enrage will kill everyone so stack the sparks, nuke the riders and fly as a pack and you will pawn him :)
Hope this helps.
Using the healer macro, how do you bind it to use, because you lose your bars once you get on the dragon?
What do u think hunter drood warrior or paladin
I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned this yet, but if you have a hunter in your raid with you, ask them to use
. Having them ping the location of the sparks before they even reach the platform can be very helpful.
Personally the only phase I found hard in this fight was the 3rd. If there is a way to zoom your camera angle out futher then what they originally give you, then I imagine it's not too hard.
but I personally find starting at a crap load of red dragons and their wings, and an occasional spark of electricity, its incredibly hard to know whats going on :(
This drop list is incomplete. It is missing the surge needle ring at least and mabey others.
Here's how to do this fight in under 10 minutes, keep in mind that he does enrage at the 10 minute mark.
-Paladin/Priest healer that focus' on the tank MAINLY and raid healing.
-A Druid healer
-(If your druid healer is amazing then you do not need another healer, but if not then grab a shaman for healing *ONLY if you cannot get a shaman for melee dps, and in that case get a priest for raid healing.
-Usually a DK tank or a Paladin tank would be the greatest, since they have rather well survival techniques.
-You must have a DK, I'll explain why for phase one if you want to make this the easiest fight possible.
-A Shaman DPS would be amazing if you do not have a shaman healer for heroism.
-*Two* other melee dps that can stand their own ground, I suggest the most possible Death Knights or Warriors.
-Any ranged dps is good for this fight, especially a warlock for a little "hax" in phase one. BUT, you do need 2-3 ranged dps, as this would help even out the groups with drops at the end of the boss.
Anyways, the vitals for the group are a DRUID HEALER, a DEATHKNIGHT DPS, and a PRIEST HEALER. As for the other rolls, mix and match if ya will. :D
I will begin to explain the fight, if this is your first time doing the fight and you need a reference just read this, and if you're looking for tips for any phase, feel free to read this too. :D
It all begins with
Tank and Spank... With a Few "Spins" (What a pun! xD)
-First his attacks- Maly breaths an arcane breath (out of his mouth, it's like the Mage cone of cold and hits everyone for a large amount if hit by it), he cleaves targets in front of him, there's always something hitting everyone for a little amount so their always has to be heals, and "THE TORNADO" or w/e it's called attack, and I'll explain that in detail after I explain what the tank will be doing.
-TANK-When somebody begins the fight by using their iris key, Maly comes and lands at the innermost circle of the direction he is closest of, and at that point the tank must pick him and begin kiting him around the outside of the inner circle, this is not vital YET, but you need to keep the front of Maly away from the entire raid group, and you don't really have to move him at all, just kind of keep him turned away. And all the healers and dps should be pretty much stacked on top of each other at his tail, since he DOES NOT have an attack that hits behind him, like a tail swipe.
-Tornado attack- This is what kills the raid group 100% of the time, what happens is, Maly will fly up into the middle hovering about 10 yards up and use an attack that sucks up all raid members off their feet and puts them into a spinning vortex, like a tornado, and at this point you cannot cast anything unless it's under a second. So here's where the druid comes into play, he has to put hots on pretty much every raid member or they will die, because they get like 2k damage a second for 15 seconds, and then a fall damage at the end for another 1.5k damage. Your druid must heal the best he can, or that will be the downfall of the fight. Some tips to help out the healers would be using lifeblood (If you're a herbalist), a warlock can put his portal thing on the ground and get the hell out of it really easy, and this helps the healer, or a Mage can Ice Block at the end of the tornado to negate the fall damage he will take (Or put slow fall on every member in the party, you have enough time Mages, I know that I did it, so you can too!). There's plenty of other ways to help out the healers so try and do whatever you can. ALSO, he does multiple tornado attacks during phase one, I believe he will do one approximately every 45 seconds.
-Now when you fall out of the tornado a SPARK will be afloat from the edge of the map (It's a wisp you could say, with electricity floating around him), and at this point, YOU MUST, sorry, *THE TANK MUST* keep Maly away from the sparks at all times (Or else Maly gets a buff that will "chomp chomp chomp" everyone.), KITING him around the outside of the innermost circle. During this time the DK must "yank" the spark to their selves, and hold the spark in the middle of the whole platform and chain of ice, or whatever the hell anybody can do to hold them into position. Entangling roots, frost nova, whatever anybody can do to stop them there. DO NOT KILL THE SPARKS, WHY?-You need to get at least 2 sparks in the middle BEFORE KILLING them because they give you a buff that increases your damage by 50%, and if you get two, then it's +100% and if you don't have 100%+ damage with the sparks then you cannot make the timer of usually 3:00-3:30 (minute to a minute and thirty seconds) and Maly will enrage in phase three after a total of 10 minutes, and you'll wipe and be like WTF MATE.
After 50% damage to Maly, you will begin
-This phase is most definitely suppose to be the easiest and fastest phase. It starts off by having Maly life into the air and at this point the ranged people in your party should be able to get Maly to about 46% damage before he completely fly's out of reach. You do 0 damage to Maly once he is out of range for phase 2. All you do is run to purple bubble that appear in the platform and stand in them until a new one appears for you to run into. The point being is if you're not in these purple bubbles (like the DK anti-magic bubble) Maly will hit you for a large amount of damage with this huge (turn spell detail down to low if you're computer isn't that decent) lightening bolt that hits the platform. In this phase you need your one tank to pick pick up aggro on these guys that ride disk's while melee and range DPS them. Eventually you will kill one of these disk men and a disk will demount from him and be on the floor next to the dead body. At this point your highest melee DPS needs to mount up on it (by right clicking it) and flying into the air and attacking the ones that are not at ground level. But before you do that you need to kill the 3 grounded disk riders for your top 3 melee DPS to get aboard them. Now for the ones in the air, your ranged DPS and melee should all be on one target, and if you don't have 4 or 5 melee DPS then it's fine to let a ranged DPS get on one of the disks that fall from the sky.
As soon as all the disk men are dead, the platform will break apart and begin
-As soon as the platform breaks apart you will then be mounted onto Ruby Dragons automatically.
-Healers- The vital part is for the healers obviously, (if you're DPS is lacking, I suggest two healers, but three healers is perfect your first time if you're doing this as a guild and you have great DPS) and what the healers need to do is target a drake being hit and press 3, now this gives you a combo point and you need 5 combo points to press 4 for an AOE heal for the party. With that being said the raid party should always be within yards of the healers. Now if you're using two healers YOU MUST keep these AOE heals separate from each other to keep the raid group alive (There are spark fields in the sky always hurting each drake, and if you don't have an AOE heal or you're waiting for one of the drakes to heal you, well... he can't because he just used it and he has to gain 5 combo points again!).
-DPS- The 7 or 8 DPS in phase three have the easiest job, all you simply do is press 1 five times
Going into mally i didn't know any thing about it, then i saw this video on youtube.com and I had no trouble with it.
A strange observation...nobody has even stated where this instance is located. O.o
Edit: OK, I found a comment, but they've been purged. Why?
so beautifull instance i love it :)

About time !
Your info is a bit flawed, even if mostly correct, and you omitted important lore facts about those guys.
Alexstrasza is the Queen of the Dragons, she is one of the extremly few creatures that can command the other Aspects.
Nozdormu is not the Ruler of Time - he protects it from any intrusion. The first known intrusion in the time-ways was the attempt of the Old Gods to release themselves, the "Anomaly in Time" they created leading Rhonin and Krasus to the War of the Ancients 10000 years ago, making them the first known Time-travelers in WoW lore. The next known intrusions - look at Caverns of Time.
Malygos is in no way creator of magic. He is powerfull, but not that powerfull. He is the Guardian of Magic, and that's why he wants to destroy all mages who don't use magic dirrectly under his rule, because he became paranoic about another Legion Invasion and decided that destroying the mages of Azeroth is "the smallest evil".
Ysera opened her eyes many more times. In Day of the Dragon, she opens them not only once. It doesen't happen as rare as you suggest. The reason why she couldn't come personally to help stopping Malygos is because she is caught in the war against the Nightmare creatures who invaded the Emerald Dream. The responsable for this corruption is almost suretenly an Old God.
Deathwing didn't just "go mad", the Old Gods had a pretty important role to play in getting him mad. The continuation of Deathwing's story (as far as we know it): around ten thousand years after the War of the Ancients, Deathwing tried to steal Alexstrasza's eggs to create his own Dragonflight. He got the eggs to Outland, even if the Aspets tried to stop him. Because of the Nether Energies in Outland, the dragons who came out from the eggs became Nether Dragons. (Edit for awesomeness' sake:) and then he created a
And, sadly, we kinda kill Malygos :(
Deathgripping the Sparks is easier said than done. I used a macro to target them but when I ran to where people were pinging on the map the sparks were always out of range. This fight is also buggy. Got him to phase 3 and we were fighting him then all of a sudden our mounts despawned, we got summoned to the center of the instance and we all fell to our deaths. There were still 2 minutes left so it wasn't enrage.
Had he the sense to use the diplomatic approach, events would have turned out quite differently - and Mages, Warlocks, Shamans, and Shadow Priests would not exist. Doubtless healers still would, as healing is not by any means a destructive act. Druids would still exist because they don't use the same energies as other magic users...Death knights would also be here because the Lich King doesn't care a whit for anything anyone else thinks.
Shamans are granted their magics through nature as well, similar to druids. Mages perhaps. I don't see a warlock abandoning that which he has achieved as a warlock KNOWS the magic he is using is dangerous. Not sure about shadow priests.
But yeah, I dont think you can say so confidently things WOULD have turned out different.
You have to keybound your macro's so they still will be available after your bars dissapear
i had 2 assigned:
/follow tank (easy for grouping after falling down on your dragon)
/castsequense ... (easy for 1 button hitting while flying)
Arcane drake's eh.
So that means Sindragosa is the most powerful Frostwyrm broodmother there ever has been
since Sindragosa was a member of the blue dragon flight (the gos part of her name).
I just did this instance for the first time ever (2 80s so far) on my freshly level resto shaman. First 2 phases were cake and on the third i used a strategy that apparently works quite well with 2 players healing like this (back story after the strat). Have both healers stack on one person whose marked and the group follow them (you dont need to be on top of them but within a few yards) have both healers use the Hot on them selves (button 3) until they have 5 combo points and at alternating times use 4 for the aoe heal. This keeps both healers alive the entire fight (a 5 stack hot can keep you alive through the surge of power easily) and allows for all the dps to worry less about dieing so they can focus on getting the damage out. Keep the group moving in a either clockwise or counter clockwise circles around maly every time he shoots out a static field. Dps need to use the shield (number 5) whenever he uses surge on them so they need to keep 25 energy available at all times.
Back story: Our group wipes twice and downed him on the third try. First time through i was last man standing on the drake because i kept the HoT on my self and aoe healed the people around me sometimes putting the hot on them if i was full (to many people not using shield on surge). Second time me and 1 dps lasted so long after the rest of the raid died that everyone else had released and were wondering why they couldnt get back in (then he used berserk and one shoted the dps). During this attempt i managed to keep a 5 stack of HoTs on both myself and this dps for most of the duration we were alone. So third time through i asked the other healer what he was doing and he said he was dpsing, i told him to heal himself and aoe every 5 combo points. After we got to phase 3 this time only 1 person died (standing in static with a surge on himself) and we downed him within 3 seconds of speed kill.
Hope this helps others get an easy kill, id never done this boss before but i have to say this raid is fun stuff if you play it right.
does anyone know what kind of gearscore an unholy DK would need to run this?
Come Patch 4.0.3, Malygos will once again drop the
Reins of the Blue Drake
in the 10 player version of The Eye of Eternity.
Reins of the Azure Drake
will return to only dropping from Malygos in the 25 player version of The Eye Eternity.
Official Blizzard announcement
omg brainless Alexastrazsa and Blizz................they doesn't know what a bull%^&* they have done........They really think she can solo-defeat Deathwing? ..... Or with help of Ysera? Srsly think about it....................Nozdormu is doesn't care about this fight ........so they kill their brother (an helpfull ally) And here themselves just go against each other two contradictory .... And how they beat him ? Does know what In the introduction panel for World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King, and the following afternoon during the WoW Lore Panel, Chris Metzen elaborated on the status of Malygos and the blue dragonflight. It was revealed that Malygos has begun to regain much of his sanity. Tyrygosa - having taken the Nether Dragons under her wing - has brought the ethereal dragons to Northrend. The exposure to their physiology has helped cure Malygos and the Blue Aspect's sanity is returning to him.
Malygos, with clearer eyes, takes note of the large number of mortal spellcasters running around Azeroth, recklessly using arcane magic, and worries they may bring the Burning Legion to Azeroth in force again, as the Highborne once did (one of his last few memories before going mad). Thus he deems the lesser races' use of magic as unacceptable, and he proceeds to declare war on all magic users, particularly the Kirin Tor of Dalaran. Dalaran has therefore moved to Northrend, as a capital for both the war against the Lich King, and the Kirin Tor's fight with Malygos. The red dragonflight - keeping Alexstrasza's promise to Rhonin after the events of Day of the Dragon - has stepped up to defend the mortals from their cousins' crusade against spellcasters.
TL;DR Malygos was angry because he didn't want the reckless usage of arcane magic to draw the burning legion back to azeroth, and he wasn't mad at all (didn't know that until now).
I really feel that his storyline in wow could've been so much better...
Malygos is my favorite , and I think wotlk destroyed him... seriously it felt like blizz just added him for !@#$s and giggles.
So. I tried Soloing this as a Blood DK (Didn't read up on the fight first, I like to surprise myself) and found it to be challenging but definitely doable. That is until phase 3... World dropped out and I expressed my *Wtf* in panic as I died.
Not sure but I'd say it may not be possible
I was trying to 2 man this with a Warlock and a Hunter and when we got sucked up in the tornado and came back down he completely avoided both our pets. Is there a way to fix this problem? I'm prolly going to get downvoted for this but I don't care I need to know.
How to do this quickly and easily for Cat runs (and Uprate if this is what you were looking for to get in here and get out without researching a bunch of old outdated info):
1) bring up to 9 players for 10 man mode. 21 or fewer for 25 man mode.
2) Explain the fight has 3 phases: tank n spank phase, air phase, and mounted vehicle phase.
3) Explain that you kill sparks for Ph. 1 otherwise, tank n spank.
4) Explain that for Ph. 2, /roll on whoever still needs the
Denyin' the Scion
achievement. Let them have the hover disks when you kill the melee guys (I am foggy on what the name of the guys are, they are the melee guys on hoverdisks). The disks will be reserved for 4 players who need the achievement as there are 4 Scions you can kill (in 10 man mode). Two raid members will fly up at a time to where the Scions are casting. You may assist the lucky roller with nukes, but don't put a dot. The lucky party needs to make the killing blow. Once the scion dies, the hoverdisk dumps that party down, and another person can kill the remaining scions.
5) explain the Ph. 3 vehicles fight as follows:
a. Mark the heals with raid marker.
b. Have the entire party be mobile, always moving to the right and stack on at raid member's head who is marked. Repeat it: ALWAYS STACK MARKED RAID MEMBER because they will spread out guaranteed without being on a tight leash.
c. Tell them not to worry about heals, just have them target Malygos and hit 1, 1, 1, 2.
d. Heals (best if raid leader) will just hit 1, 1, 1, 1 then 5 for the shield. Heals MUST be very mobile and always move RIGHT and out of any lightning clouds. There is a way to heal the individual vehicles and that's 3, 3, 3, 4 or something like that. However, we all had fancy interfaces and couldn't target the vehicles. We ended up just moving right at a quicker pace and shielding more.
With this you should get 2 achievements plus the one if you haven't done EoE before. There is another if you do it in under 6 minutes (same for both 10 and 25 man). Good luck managing your raid.
Surprisingly easy to solo @ 90.
Burn him down til phase 2 starts. If you're ranged, then keep shooting til he finishes his little speech (
at which point he becomes immune
Flying adds appear. Nuke one, jump on his flying platform & whizz around to kill the rest.
Once that's all done, the Ground will break up & you'll fall onto a Dragon. Rotation is:
1, 1, 2, 3
3 is the self heal which stacks to 5 & lasts 10 seconds so you may want to spam 3 at the start just so it's on 5 stacks. Once you've done that, start the main rotation.
DO NOT deviate from the main rotation
. Sometimes, you may have to wait for the mana bar to regenerate enough for your dragon abilities to be enabled. Just continue where you left off before you ran out of juice!
Best way I found was to not go crazy & spam the rotation as quickly as possible.. Take your time & you'll find you wont be waiting for mana to regen... but don't take too long!
Don't worry about his dragon breath but mind out for charged orbs he spits out. Move out of their way when you see one coming.
So long as you stick with the 1,1,2,3 rotation, you'll beat him.
Don't do like me at the end of the fight. Got the loot & dismouted! Yep, forgot about the floor being missing so fell to my death!
Just fly over to the portal & click it once you're done.
Was wondering if anyone had some tips for a level 90 rogue to solo this? Seems my self-heals aren't sufficient enough, even with CD rotations, to keep up with him. Been using leeching poison and preparation to reset some CDs and shiving my HP back, but...not successful.
Managed to keep up as a frost DK, ret pally, and windwalker monk, but I guess rogue is beyond me.
Solo maly at 90, easiest way is as soon as you get on the drake, stack 3 to. 5 then every time you do your combo, make it 1123 to keep it at 5 stacks. He drops easy.
*Sigh* just realised that the reason why everyone was saying that this raid is an easy solo and I kept on wiping, was because standing IN THE POWER SPARKS once you have destroyed them gives you a 50% damage boost. If anyone else is having trouble soloing this, this really makes a difference.
Solo'd this on a blood DK, iLevel 474, mostly blue tanking gear, but some LFR dps gear. Pretty straightforward, nothing too crazy, but I'll explain my bouts in hopes it will help someone else.
This assumes: you're getting diseases on the target and spreading them via Roiling Blood or pestilence, you're using Rune Strike when it's available, Heart Strike when it's up and using Death Strike at every turn. If you do this, then all soloing EoE will cost is your time, about an hour or so if you want to be thorough. I put out about 30k dps in packs or between 26k and 28k on single target, for a point of reference.
The first and second phases were simple to do, I didn't fret when Malygos got a spark and I didn't get them for myself. It was a simple tank and spank in phase 1.
Phase two I just waited for a mob to get close, killed them, hopped on their disc and repeated the same for the last mobs.
Phase three was more involved and I died on my first attempt. You really just need to get your healing to five stacks (key '3' on your keyboard), then follow "1,1,2,3" and move out of sparks. It's really that easy. The idea is that your '2' ability will build up a stacking dot on Malygos that will eventually be doing crazy damage to him, it has a somewhat short duration so you have to be fairly specific and follow the prescribed method. There will be some down time between the second '1' and the '2', don't worry, it's ok. I'm sure there are people who have done it differently, kudos to them, but I followed the pack and it worked well. Afterwards, click on the purple floating diamond and receive your loot. Fairly simple, just watch the rotation.
Soloed Malygos (10man) last night on a very under-geared 437 Enhancement Shaman.
I failed 4 times before finding the perfect way to do it with such low gear. Phase 1 was all about survival for me so I had
talented for my benefit
as soon as he lands and keep
up (don’t use your fire elemental here as you will need the CD for later). He should fly up as your wolves end. Keep
on him. As he lands use your
and keep an eye out for the sparks. The rock ele doesn’t seem to pull Malygos off easily but since I had the Primal Elements talented the rock ele
spell helped keep me alive. When you see the sparks moving in use
so that you have another ranged attack to burn the spark down before it reaches Malygos. If Maly gets the spark buff use
to survive the attack. There should be 2 sparks after which Maly will fly up again. Once he lands your wolves will be ready again for you to get him down to 50%.
Phase 2 should take about a minute or two to complete and Phase 3 is easy if you use the sequence Shimmy101 mentioned above of 1 1 2 3. You might get worried that your health is dropping too low but mine never went below 40% on the drake – just trust that if you follow 1 1 2 3 (even if you have to wait for energy) that you will beat him.
You might want to try using BL on the 2nd time you use wolves so that you can maybe have a spark to stand in too, but I could never get the spark landing just right as a melee DPS.
Will be farming this now for the mount :)
It's been said before, but saying it again won't hurt. Here is the solo strat for level 90:
(1) Pop all dps cooldowns right away. Flask, Trinkets, Spells, Heroism, Pets abilities.... EVERYTHING.
(2) Don't worry about "sparks". When he flies up into the air, keep hitting him as he slowly flies to the edge of the platform. You can still do some melee attacks until he slowly gets too high, then a few more ranged even when he is off the platform.
(3) You are so beasty that he never threw you into the air, so you just saved almost a minute off the 10 min enrage timer. Yay! He went right to the 2nd add phase. Get into a purple bubble, nuking the two adds that fly down to the ground, hop on a disc, fly up in the air and finish off the four remaining adds flying around on their discs asap. Don't waste time.
(4) When the last add is dead, run to the middle of the platform, and heal up. You will drop down onto the back of your dragon mount for the 3rd phase. You will use ONLY your 1, 2 and 3. NEVER use 4 or 5. As soon as you are on the dragon, spam 3 (your heal over time aka HOT) until you are at 5 stacks. This 5-stack lasts 10 seconds and can be periodically refreshed.
(5) Here is the open secret: the 2 spell is what kills the boss. You have to let this power build up, which is the hardest part. So hit 1, then 1, then WAIT (the hard part) a second or two until 2 lights up bright orange, then hit 2 and IMMEDIATELY hit 3 to refresh your 5-stack HOT. Just do that over and over.
When Malygos "fixes his eye upon you" and this lazer beam thingy hits you, don't panic. You aren't taking damage <yet>. The only two things that damage you are a big blast of light (move to the left about 10 feet) and a patch of lightning (again, move to the left about 10 feet). Often you'll be nuking the boss right by a patch of lightning and taking no damage; you'll get the hang of it.
Occasionally you might lose sight of Malygos because you are flying in space after all and there are no frames of reference except him. Just keep your 5-stack HOT up, pan your camera back and wait for his non-damaging lazer beam to connect with you, follow the beam back to the boss and resume your 1,1,2,3 rotation. Honestly you are so far ahead of the enrage timer that you can eff this rotation up by letting the HOT drop off, then spam 3 to get it back up to 5, and start over and you still have plenty of time.
Just killed EoE 10m and reins of the blue drake dropped. Not sure if this is also a drop on 25m
So like said, this is pretty easy at level 90. But I would still suggest you to be little bit better geared so you can deal enough damage to kill him before berserk. I would like to share how I do this. Its the same thing everyone else has done but, it really works (:
I did this on my BM Hunter ilvl 499 and as my pet I use a Direhorn.
You have about 10 minutes to kill Malygos before him going berserk and killing you.
Phase 1: He comes down on the platform and starts attacking you. I use Misdirection on my pet so I can dps in peace. You want to dps him as much as possible so this is the perfect phase to use your class cooldowns for max dmg. Also you will want to do as much damage as possible to get into the next phase, so it gives you more time in Phase 3.
Phase 2: This phase starts at 50% health. He flies up and turns untargetable and summons adds. This is not a hard phase either, you just want to kill the adds as fast as possible so again, you have more time in Phase 3. As ranged dps its easy to kill the flying adds, but if you're melee, grab urself a platform and fly, like I do.
Phase 3: This phase starts after you've killed all the adds. He breaks the platform and drops you on a drake. All drakes have the same abilities, but you only need to use 3 of the abilities to kill him. Also the drakes HP scales from your own ilvl so I suggest you to do this when you have geared yourself up a little bit. When he becomes targetable again, start using abilities in order 1-1-2-3. DO NOT spam the abilities as fast as you can, because you dont want your drake to run out of energy. Use the abilities every 2 seconds. DO NOT fly into the electric clouds, it will really hurt your drake. So remember: 1-1-2-3 and rinse and repeat.
Good luck with the mount and transmog runs!
I hope this helps you! (:
If you want to see a video of me doing it, I did it on ym stream and you can check it out from
GOOD LUCK YALL <3
Soloed 25 man at 90 on a 503 hunter wearing Timeless Isle and LFR gear. I found that the only spec I could solo it successfully in was Marksmanship, thanks to their self heals. I glyphed Chimera Shot so it would give me some extra healing, and also used the
. I changed my first talent to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Chimera so I could Disengage more often. You can use Disengage when you're flying around on a disk and you won't budge from it. The drake phase is pretty long on 25 man, but as long as you don't panic and stick to the 1123 rotation described on this page, you'll be fine. I managed to beat the enrage even though I had no idea what I was doing as MM, so it should be doable for anyone.
This week I did the fight in BM with an ilvl of 514. I used a Spirit Beast so that I could use
to heal myself, along with
again. My HP got down to about 35% when I was killing the Scions though, as my pet couldn't reach me, but of course your HP doesn't matte once you get to the drake phase so I was still successful.
Did 10-man today on my Destro Warlock with ilvl 541 using my Voidlord. Very trivial fight. I was done in a few minutes. I actually got Malygos down to 0hp before phase 2 started. Adds went down very fast in phase 2. In phase 3 i used button number 1 once and killed Malygos. lol. No mounts. sigh. Sad to see only 2 items drop. Usually at the end of a raid, you're awash in armor tokens and all kinds of crap. Oh well, I guess it was because it was 10-man.
Soloed 25man reasonably easily as ilvl 503 survival hunter. Used pet to tank although had to feign death once to get rid of aggro in phase 1, hit Malygos with dire beast and stampede, got thrown up into the air twice but you can carry on shooting him anyway.
In 2nd phase I shot down a couple of the scion guys on discs then hopped on one and flew around to finish the others off.
3rd phase is easy once you know what you're doing; it just takes a while. Make sure HoT is on 5 stacks then use 1,1,2,3 as others on here have said.
lately i'm having problems with the 1 - 1 -2 - 3 button-tactic.. has it been nerfed or am i just unlucky? he keeps loosing his debuff before i can cast 2 again....
anyone knows anything 'bout some changes? or has the same problem?
Ugh, I don't get what everyone in these comments are talking about. I found this impossible to solo on a Frost DK 90 with an item level of 524. The drake fight makes the fight impossible to solo.
This is a simple step-by-step guide for those people who keep dying on the rotation (3rd) phase:
For me I couldn't kill Malygos quick enough in the 3rd phase. I'd do the 1-1-2-3 rotation, but after the 2nd rotation it would be more like 1-(wait)-1-(wait)-2-3. Also I couldn't tell when the orbs were coming because of all I the lightning.
545 Retribution Paladin (Noob Off Spec)
DPS on whole Malygos encounter (10 Man) = 72k
DPS on Boss Dummies = 150k
Do anything to boost your DPS output. Food, Flasks, Buffs. Make sure all CDs are ready...
Target Malygos. Click the orb and attack him. If you're melee click and run into range. BURN him down ... use all CDs, everything. After the 2nd phase initiates he flies a little higher, but is still hittable . Keep hitting him until he flies off, even if its only 1 ability with a 3s CD.
Just kill the adds
The secret here is once you land on your dragon, spam 3 (the 3rd button) to get your healing stacks up to 5. At them same time fly up to Malygos' level. Once he becomes targetable, start your rotation.
DO NOT DEVIATE from rotation. If an ability is not lit up, wait. I believe there maybe a technique that means you casually do the rotation so energy builds up in time and you hit 2 when the buffs are active, but if we understood that then we wouldn't be here looking for help.
1st attempt I got him to 21% in phase 1 and he killed me on the 3rd phase, with 7% left.
2nd attempt I got him to 18% in phase 1 and he killed me on the 3rd phase, with 4% left.
3rd attempt (I decided to do the DPS burn method) and got him down to 11% health, killing him easily.
I ran 10M just now and was surprised to see Both, the Azure and the Blue Drake drop for me.
I guess it does happen, lucky me.
easy solo for most classes 10/25
phase 1 kill sparks before boss eats them and stand in the aoe from the spark and dps. This will boost your dps so blow cds at this point.
boss at pick you up in the air and spin you around doing small amounts of dmg about 12k you can still cast/dps/heal during this time
adds join the fight on flying disk. about 5 of them will come to you at this point i would aoe them down while standing with in one of the purple domes that appear on the platform. then use there mounts to fly around and kill the other 5
once all adds are dead you will lose the mount and the platform will vanish leaving you to fall to a dragon.
at this point just press 1-1-2-3 and move around. dont forget its a 3d so you have pletty of room. as long as your not sat in one of his sparks that he fires you will be fine.
the combo works off the 2 as it stacks on the boss and burn away at his hp. i normally end the fight around 30 stacks as a 500ilv ww monk the 3 will heal you keeping you always above 50% hp.
if your low on energy just wait but stick with the 1123 combo. easy kill takes about 5 mins
Very easy to solo now first two phases were easy just burn Malygos in the first and the adds in the second. Once the third phase starts get just within hitting range of Malygos, fly in circles and use the 1,1,2,3 combo as mentioned in early posts and there are no problems. Did it in about five minutes on a 95 Ret Pally
Location of the Instance
The Eye of Eternity
, is located through the top-most portal inside The Nexus building in Coldarra,
, Northrend, located northwest of Warsong Hold (Horde). The nearest neutral flight path is called
The Transitus Shield
, which should now be an auto-learned flightpath.
Why is this instance worth completing?
Several achievements (see below for list), and two mounts:
, both of which have a small chance to drop in both the 10-man/25-man difficulties (to select difficulty, right click on your portrait, go to raids, and select the difficulty that you'd like).
Soloing at 100, and it's your first time here?
soloable at level 100. It's also a very quick clear, as there is no trash or winding corridors -- you are able to summon the boss within seconds of entering the instance.
Enter the instance and, when ready, click the orb to start the encounter.
, just burn him down. Even as a caster wearing cloth, he should barely touch you at max level.
consists of several
Scion of Eternity
mobs spawning, flying around on hover disks. When one is killed, they will drop a disk which you can then ride (fly) on to more easily kill the others (see related achievement below). Kill them all, and you will auto-dismount from the hover disk (be careful of falling damage -- don't go too high!).
, Malygos will destroy the floor, and you'll be caught by a drake. With you at level 100, Malygos should already be near 1hp at this point, and a single attack or two from your drake -- mount/vehicle option 1 -- should finish him off. Loot what spawns after he drops away, and exit the instance out of the portal that appears (it's there, just hard to see sometimes. Don't dismount the drake as this will kill you).
You should be able to get these in one go at each difficulty. Do note that both the 10 and 25-man versions share a lockout period, so you can unfortunately only do one of them once per week per character.
The Spellweaver's Downfall
) - Kill Malygos.
You Don't Have an Eternity
) - Defeat Malygos in 6 minutes or less (
pretty easy at 100
A Poke in the Eye
- Defeat Malygos with less than 9 players in
, or less than 21 in
assuming you're soloing this, you get it automatically
Denyin' the Scion
) - Deliver a killing blow to a Scion of Eternity while riding on a hover disk. (
This is only one where you have to do something outside of just quickly killing him. The only way to miss this is if you don't get on a dropped hover disk after killing a Scion. Unlikely for a melee class to miss this, but a ranged class might decide to kill them all from the ground.
All of the above are required for the meta-achievement Glory of the Raider (
). Once upon a time, Glory of the Raider rewarded mounts (
Reins of the Plagued Proto-Drake
Reins of the Black Proto-Drake
, respectively) but the rewards have long since been removed. The Plagued Proto-Drake now has a small chance of dropping from
Unclaimed Black Market Container
, won from
who recently moved to the Ring of Blood in Nagrand, Draenor. Of note, the Container can
also drop many other rare mounts/pets
. The Black Proto-Drake, at the present, can sadly no longer be obtained in any way, apparently.
The mounts that have a chance to drop from the instance itself (
) are part of the very frustrating meta-achievement
Awake the Drakes
, which awards
Reins of the Emerald Drake
. If you're just going for mounts and don't care about achievements, then might as well just run the 10-man version for the sake of quickness; the difference in drop chance is negligible between the two difficulties.
Portal is right behind you when you finish talking to Alexstrasza. It's outlined with purple and kinda hard to see.
The Eye of Eternity Entrance:
Both mounts can drop in the same run, ran the instance today on 25man and lady luck gave me both.
how to leave The Eye of Eternity ?
The Eye of Eternity Raid Entrance Location -->
The Eye of Eternity Entrance
At 110, even at 25, your time will be taken up mainly by listening to transition dialogue and cleaning up the Scions.
so here's an utterly bizarre bug that happened to me: If you're level 120 and HoA 70 you CANNOT zone into Eye of Eternity until you complete
#comments. Once you have the charged scale in your possession you can fly back down and zone in no problem.
So I've ran this raid about 5 times, and got mounts 3 times. I don't know what it is about this raid but it seems to like me.
In case you can't enter, you may have to drop/finish the heart of azeroth quest where you have to meet Kalecgos at the top of the Nexus.
Surely bugged? Soloing as a level 91 mage nothing I do causes him any damage whatsoever.
If you can't enter the raid go and check
if you can accept this quest you need to accept and complete it first.
If you are a mage/priest you might also need to finish your legion artefact weapon quest first, if that's still in your questlog/waiting for you to finish it.
