This is most useful for undead instances such as Scholo or Strat. Typically it's a good idea to "shackle pull."
You can also simply use it as a kiting method or crowd control.

One (maybe obvious) tip about re-Shackling. The safest way to do it is to recast it when there's around 20 seconds left on the previous Shackle (there are mods to track the time remaining). That way, if the Shackle fails the mob will still be immobilized and you can try it again without hassle. If you wait too long and you get a resist things might get ugly, better safe than sorry :)

If you are in charge of re-shackling a target multiple times, you can set the target as your /focus, then use the following macro:

/cast shackle undead

This will allow you to spam shackle without ever having to switch to the target, so you can continue to heal the tank.

I'm wondering why there's no level 80 spell.
Just to show what I mean:

Rank 1 - Level 20
Rank 2 - Level 40
Rank 3 - Level 60
Rank 4 - Level 80 <- Dosn't exist, but it should!

Doesn't seem to work on most Undead enemy types in Heroics such as UP (since they're apparently immune).

Seems this spell has found a wonderful place to be useful again in the Icecrown Citadel instances. In Pit of Saron it can be used to CC the undead firebringers that you have to fight going up the hill after killing Ick and Krick. By useing it on one it will help lessen the group damage since they will be unable to cast Hellfire. You will want to let your group know that you will cc the caster so as to prevent it being broken by a dps.

Use this spell in Halls of Reflection. I use it whenever I can on the ranged mobs, and it can help tremendously.

Can this be used in PvP? Would be a lovely counter to the same dual UD polymorphing mages I seem to encounter in BGs.

An advanced way to use shackle, is as a faux interupt, which is useful for those long cast time/hard hitting spells. Good examples are the Shadow Blast that the Spell-flingers will use in the Old Kingdom (people often forget that its a percentage of health attack that can't be outgeared), and the nasty Flamestrike the Mages will cast in HoR.

Just keep an eye on these mobs, and pop chains to break the cast, even if broken instantly, the spell will be stopped, and you'll reduce a good chunk or incoming damage.

I have a lv 47 holy priest and I in WSG, under attack by a lv 49 rogue undead twink so i thought "ok ill shackle her and escape easy haha" and it dosnt friggin work and i end up dead, well annowed :/

Although this spell ahs been very useful in Icecrown, you'll only see this item be any worth of use in Shadowfang Keep and Zul'aman's ghost boss for Crowd Control. Even then, the spell is rarely to never being used.

Not sure if intended, but if you quickly alternate casting Shackle Undead and Mind Spike, it will not break from the damage.

Turn undead got reclassified as turn evil, Why isn't this Shackle Evil? Allowing it to be used against demons and abberations might make it worth having for more than the most rare of situations.

If you are making a weakaura for 束缚亡灵, to only activate when you can use the ability on an enemy;

Click weakauras export on the right hand side, then set the Trigger to, Ability is Usable.

As normal, then copy and paste into WoW.

Then open the ability in /wa, go into Trigger, and then click the checkbox that says Require Valid Target. This will make your weakaura popup when 束缚亡灵 can be used on the specific target you are attacking.

Extremely useful because some mobs are not always easily seen as to what typing they are :).
