Death Knights, the new hero class to be introduced in Wrath of the Lich King, have been confirmed to wear plate. They may even start with it seeing as they start around level 50 or so.

Platemail is the beef of the armor proficiencies being only available to Warriors and Paladins at level 40+. Plate also has the highest base armor value and damage migitation, which is virtually required for the tanking classes, as plate is one of the few that give defense rating.

They start at 55 and do indeed come with plate, in fact they are "born" with a full set of green plate, and by the time you do all the newbie quests, you will have a full set of blue plate, 2 rings, 2 trinkets, a neck, a relic and a decent 2H weapon.

If you're looking for some good plate armor to wear as soon as you hit 40 and are able to use those items 冰铁之盔 and 图特卡什的甲壳 are very nice and conveniently found in the same instance.

Plate Mail isnt plate armor, its a mail.
Similiar to Scale Mail, which in turn have the same construction as Ring Mail and Chain Mail.
Sort of like a shirt made from metal.

Articualted Plate is the nearest neighbour but still very very far off.
However this has changed in Cataclysm where the skill (at least when i learned it) is now known as Plate.
