This language is specific to the Horde faction, and may be spoken by any Horde character. Only other Horde characters will understand what you are saying.
This language is the language Horde characters speak by default. Members of the Undead, Tauren, or Troll races may also speak a language specific to their race. Orc characters may only speak Orcish, and do not receive a language specific to their race.

It may be noted that as an Alliance character, you may encounter a Horde player that is spamming the word KEK. If you hadn't figured it out yet, KEK means lol. This is one of the few words that people have been able to translate.

I am surprised that the blood elves spent the time to learn orcish...

Are there any phrases from orcish to alliance readers that say anything?

Does anyone ever wonder how the Blood Elves know Orcish? Didn't they use to be part of the Alliance? They should still speak Common!
I'm sad, I thought finally in the expansion there would be cross faction communication =(

You could never have contact between horde and ally or there would be people spamming other people for killing them and people begging for their lives etc :P
It allows you in some ways to kill a horde minding his own business without a second thought.

Is there a way to translate common to orcish? I have a paladin (lvl70) in Imperial Plate armor + Private tabard (ganking in nuetral town/lobie area set), and i'm trying to find a way to say "The Stormwind Guard is here to bring the pain!" to horde characters.
Note: It's a game, i'm on a PvP server and it's for kicks, nothing else.

There MUST be some ability to type giberish and have it come out to appear as the other language. There might be a translator out there that works, grab a friend on Xfire, and meet up somewhere and try it out.

I wouldn't say the algorithm is random. It just hasn't been completely cracked yet. You can actually find a limited dictionary online if you quick google search.
The problem with algorithms and game mechs is its against blizzards tos to decompile the program language. To actually get a complete dictionary and 100% accurate formulas, you have to decompile the engine.

In fact, maybe some geek rigth now is creating some sort of Orcish-Common Common Orcish Dictionary or something like that. It would be so cool. I´d buy it. In fact, it´s not such a bad idea. Maybe I´ll translate some phrases on my own sometime

note also no matter what you say to the other faction whether it is racial or vulger it will get you in trouble.
IAW TOU b10 "You may not ... Communicate directly with players who are playing characters aligned with the opposite faction (e.g. Horde communicating with Alliance or vice versa)"
So becareful on on your translation if you have that strong urge to talk trash to that person you are camping.

Lanuage in WoW, while entertaining at times and good for enhancing your RP experience, isn't much more than a flimsy effect by Blizzard to keep opposing factions from communicating. It doesn't really fit in with the Warcraft universe, as anyone that's played the previous games will tell you that the Horde and Alliance could always communicate. This could be overlooked as an extremely fast change in every... language... in the span of four-ish years... *cough* yep, believable.
This is not the case though! Blizzard couldn't care less about making sense in this aspect, as NPCs can
still
communicate, as you can see in any of the movies, such as
Wrathgate
. This leaves me to conclude that our generation of Adventurers are mostly illiterate group who grew up in an almost 'Cold War'-like environment where any info pertaining to the other races' language (other than Orcish/Common) was prohibited teaching material.
All this boils down to really is guilt-free ganking, unless you happen to be on a PVE or RP server and get a disgruntled player hop on their alt on your faction and nag you...

Spinespark below me is right. The undead used to speak Common and Orcish in pre-release WoW but due to unacceptable amounts of verbal bullying and griefing, Blizzard changed that. I'd presume they did the same thing for the blood elves. Game mechanics aside however, it's actually a LOT more plausible that the elves won't understand Common than the undead. Consider the following:
The high elves, dwarves and gnomes did aid the human nations in the Second War (not the First War, in which Old Stormwind was burned to the ground). However, unlike the dwarves and gnomes, the elves were quite insular. Quel'thalas had always been closed to outsiders. Frankly, the main reason the high elves helped the human nations at all
and spent the last 4000 years aligned with the humans was because of some perceived debt to Thoradin's descendants - the last of whom died during the Second War. This (along with the invasion of Quel'thalas during the Second War) is part of why by the beginning of Warcraft III, many of the high elves had decided that their time in the Old Alliance was over.
Because of how isolated Quel'thalas was, and because high elves never mixed with humans -that- much, there weren't many high elves living among the humans in the first place, outside of Dalaran. Dalaran was completely destroyed in the Third War, Lordaeron - the other major elf-human interface point - was destroyed, and Silvermoon was ravaged by the Scourge. Roughly 10% of the total elven population survives this. Because of where the Scourge's attacks fell, chances are that almost all of the high elves who had intermingled with humans regularly would have been wiped out. Those would probably have been the only elves who bothered to learn Common in the first place, seeing that most of their countrymen were happy to stay at home in their enchanted kingdom.
Finally, to answer the Orcish question, the elves in WoW don't learn Orcish
en masse
. Those who wish to be adventurers do, just like the members of the other races, since they -do- have to interface with the rest of the Horde. I'm pretty sure Orcish has spread a bit further among the blood elves than Common did among the high elves, but perhaps the perception of it is the same, if not worse.
TLDR version: Most high elves never interfaced with humans, and thus never bothered to learn Common. It's more likely than not that the elves who survived to become blood elves fall into this majority.

It bothers me too, the fact that the Elvens don´t speak common, but, maybe, as a sign of the hatred about the human´s betrayal (someone remmembers Garithos, and the part of the warcraft 3 where he was killed?) the simply refuse to speak common.

So they will never make it possible to speak with the other faction?
If you search on google, you will see a lot of translations made by themself. I see they would get a problem about it, but now they made ''Real ID'' Which makes it possible to speak to the other faction?
