Seems useful for scouting players out in BG's or large-scale World PvP. In addition, the graphic you see at the target location looks just like the graphic used when trying to take a flag in AB or EotS. If you have good accuracy you can trick the enemy into thinking someone is trying to take one of their bases.

1st this is not similar to Engineering's Ornate Spyglasses, it "teleports" you to the place you've chosen (choose similar to Flamestrike, Blizzard, Rain Of Fire etc. or Dynamite). It leaves some kind of an animation effect, half-visible, but experienced player can see that you put EE near him.
Funny thing:
-Use Eyes Of The Beast
-Go far away
-Use Eagle Eye
-Your pet vanishes
You can then call your pet.
NOTE: that you can go as your pet behind a corner or a wall and still use EE that means you can see places you couldn't normaly target (Cat's Prowling is usefull with this).
Usefull thingy, Enjoy.
EDIT: Just noticed, you've to be outside ANYTIME you want to use this, even if you're using this as your pet.

The Shaman spell "Far Sight" works the same way as Eagle Eye does, and gives the same visual effect. In PvP, the foe has no way of knowing whether it is a Shaman or Hunter watching them.
Also, despite what soultwister says, you can indeed "chain cast" Eagle Eye, but not without a macro. Normally, if you cast Eagle Eye and try to recast it, it instead cancels it. But if you make the following simple macro, it will work:
/cast !Eagle Eye
It's the "!" that does it. Instead of toggling the spell, it forces it to recast it. This work with Aspects, too. Anyway, try it. Cast Eagle Eye on something, maybe a mountain at a zone's edge, and then hit the button for this macro and click somewhere that normally is out of sight - your vision changes to that spot. It still does seem have a range limit, but it allows you to see areas that were previously impossible to see (or are simply really far away).
It's amazing what very strange things Blizzard hides just out of view. I'd imagine that one could use this trick to get a peek at places like Hyjal. It also makes it quite easy to look at the opposing faction's spawn before a BG starts to get an idea of what you're up against.
Have some fun with it!

He's right, the range isn't even close to 50,000 yards. If you go further than ~500 yards, you'll get a quick glimpse of the area, then the channel will break.

I think that's because at that distance, your hunter no longer is "drawn" by the game, therefore there's no starting point for the spell, and it's cancelled. There's probably a better explanation for this tho.

here is a hint for yer all
Shadow Labs if you're not keyed well go in anyways this is how you do it
snuggle up as close to the lever as possible. this brings you in to the in range to interact with the lever cast eagle eye. the sight goes past the door. click on lever.
this how the mechanic works
The SL door is just thick as your interactive range. except you can't use lever because there is a door and you can't see the lever therefore can't interact. Eagle eye changes your point of view bringing it across the door and thus u can use lever
DOESNOT WORK FOR SH because blizzard realized this and chose to put the stupid lever further away
PS. If there are any other doors that EE can open that way plz leave a comment here or PM me

You can use the minimap to target this spell. Often much more precise than manually clicking the landscape when there are obstructions.

Thank you i'm a lvl 56 hunter and couldn't understand what is this ablitiy usefull for cause u can only use it where you can se Example: if you are doing WSG and it didn't start yet you can use EE to see your enimis by clicking on the mini map and using that macro /cast !Eagle Eye with the "!" cause i tried to use it but it only shows me what is behind the wall and there is another wall and it won't let me but if i click it on the mini map i can go up to Allince base and see if there is any names like "TWINKEDOUT" "HIGHLVLTWINK" whis is really rare ina 50-59 BG or see what lvl ppl are and their weak ppl ( With one addon you can see what kind of gear they have by targeting them then the image of a char pops on the bottom of your screen and you highlight their head it says what they are wearing etc.)
SO this abilty is really usefull same as EotB

I have experimented with the Shaman version, Far Sight.
Handy tip: When you cast Eagle Eye or Far sight, cast it again and you can "jump" from place to place.
Used it in Shattrath City. Cast it while at Scryers Bank, and chain casted it all the way around the Terrace of Light in a circle :)
Don't need to use the Macro as of Patch 2.4. You can just click it lol

Also, you can't use this in AB before the match starts as the gates have an invisible wall that you cant cast past.

It is "unlimited range" in Azeroth for me but in Outland I could not even get to the middle of Shattrath from Scryers Tier.

Something is strange about this spell, sometimes it will work between 500~ yards and then automatically cancel, but other times it doesn't I used this from the crossroads into ashenvale before it disengaged, using the /cast !Eagle Eye macro.
Anyone know why?

I got on my hunter today and used the /Cast !Eagle Eye spell in Epl near the scarlet enclave on the floating death knight starting zone. I kept chain casting it and you can see pretty much the whole inside and outside. Mobs are in there as well..food vendors flight path guy some ebon blade gaurds etc. Pretty cool.

Thank you for posting this about the chaincasting Macro.... It's changed my wowlife!
A few things that I've discovered that aren't posted here yet...
Although it cannot be cast from inside on the original cast, recasting using chaincasting is no problem. Therefore eagle eye can be used to scout and fully explore buildings or caves without ever having to leave the safety of town. This makes it extremely useful to plan quests at lower lvls, especially when soloing. It is also useful in WSG to look inside the enemy flag room and see how many defenders they have (and just for laughs, u can even select enemy toons and emote them from across the BG).
This is extremely useful for the gathering professions. I make most of my money from my lvl 65 main by collecting Thorium ore in BS. Gone are the days of having to ride around the zone, checking all the node spawn points. Now I can just sit on one of the hills in the centre of the zone and jump around with Eagle eye until I find a node I want to mine.
There seem to be some strange invisible barriers that cause problems with it in some areas. From the centre of the BS, I can jump over Blackrock Spire and see all the way up into IF or even the wetlands but if I try and go around Blackrock Spire to the Altar of Storms, it fails. I noticed a similar issue in the Araithi Highlands when trying to look at Hammerfall. Has anyone else noticed this?
Any other ideas for uses of Eagle eye?

The /cast !Eagle Eye macro is awsome! i could stand in Auberdine and actually see all the way to Aldrassil (night elve starting area) which is really far away, all hunters should try it... Just remember not to run out of mana so you cant cast it.

I just wanted to point out, If you are a minner or herbalist(not positive for herb) and you have "Find minerals or herbs" on while you eagle eye you can see the nod points on the minimap area were your eye is... i hope this helps becouse I find it to be VERY usefull while looking for minerals >.>

As noted above, the macro
/cast !Eagle Eye
will allow you to recast Eagle Eye from your current Eagle Eye'd area, giving it a nearly unlimited range.
A few things it can't do:
- pass invisible borders (such as the one between EPL and Ghostlands)
- cross the sea (the world will just end once you've gone out a bit)
- go too far (it seems to cancel if I go more than 2 or so zones away)
- enter instances (obviously)
But it does have uses. You can scout out Battlegrounds, Instances/Raids, or just the zone around you (to look for hostile players or NPCs). It also allows you to get a close view of hostile NPCs and can allow you to reach scenic heights and areas.

Note- For those of you that want to use the macro to look at Hyjal, this has been fixed. I've tried using it to scale Hyjal from several angles, and it breaks if I get too high up the mountain.

It IS possible to still see into 'no-entry' zones such as Hyjal with Eagle Eye. There is simply a restriction within them on how far you can see, which makes placement key. Try looking in from a place in Winterspring extremely close to the mountains. Have fun, and have a look at this old zone before it's changed forever in Cataclysm! Blizzard put a lot of very cool work into this LARGE zone. It's worth seeing.

Interesting. I found the exact same "HELP" message on top of the Grim Batol mountain. Only difference was that this message had a "destroyed" tent, a Dwarven flag, and two skeletons nearby.
Poor dwarves.

Is there a way to orient your sight? I noticed the arrow on my minimap stays the same (since my character doesn't move) though the environment around it changes according to where my eagle eye was. A problem I had was not knowing the compass direction while chaincasting - so I ended up chaincasting back to where I originally was. Anyone has a way for that?

Would be nice if it played the "kneel" animation while casting, instead of making your hands wave in the air, just to make it look like the hunter is looking at something far in the distance.

A fun fact is that while you can't cast it while indoors, you can cast it indoors if you are outdoors, very useful to know how the mobs are arranged inside buildings.

The range seems rather inconsistent and may have something to do with the arrangement of terrain rather than its distance from the hunter: I was able to Eagle Eye from Agmar's Hammer in Dragonblight all the way to partway up Icecrown Citadel (going through Wintergrasp), but repeatedly failed to Eagle Eye onto the Surge Needle despite the latter being so close I could reach it in one cast.

After Camping the Time Lost Proto Drake on my hunter, I can say without a doubt, server restarts effect the ability to chain cast this in certain places. Sometimes I can check all 4 spawn points without a problem, but sometimes one spawn point's area will break the chain cast when casting from a specific spot. When does this occur? After every server restart I notice chain casting eagle eye is different. It's odd and I wonder if blizzard has ever commented on this.

Experiencing loss of range? Unable to throw your EE in spots others claim they can?
Options > View Distance > Ultra
Your view distance range matters (if you can't see that hill/ravine/spawn spot your EE won't be able to see it either) at ultra you get to take advantage of the full range of EE.

I can confirm, that the macro mentioned by others, is useful for exploring hidden places and easter eggs. I've used it to check out the secret room in Orgrimmar, and the inside of Morgan's Crypt at Deadwind Pass. It may sound impossible, to get it to go through walls or barriers, but it can be done if casted where there's an edge or corner, where two surfaces meet. For example, if you wish to see the secret room in Orgrimmar, stand below it, by the zeppelin towers, and cast the macro and aim it right where the boulder (that contains the secret chamber) and the pillar under it meet. For the crypt, stand atop the stairs, where you are considered outdoors and able to use the spell, and aim for where the bars and the walls meet.
After being casted on an edge or corner, it's simply a matter of patience, as you keep recasting it, and try to inch it closer to where you want to see.
I've used it to scour what seemed every square inch of sea floor around Vash' Jir, and found a few weird things. I've used it to get a view of the other side of the sealed off tunnel, located in the secret Dwarf village in the Wetlands. I've also stood by the portal that connects the Ghostlands to the Eastern Plaguelands, and casted the macro "through" (or rather, past) the portal to get a view of what was on the other side. Not so much the Eastern Plaguelands zone, but rather, the southern half of the Ghostlands zone, which wasn't really meant to be viewed by normal means. Some strange terrain terrain back there. Point is, it's a usefool exploration tool to have, so be as creative as you like with it.

Apparently, according to someone's post on the Far Sight comments, you can chain around and do
