Provided that we can have a different rune on each weapon that we dual wield with, i would use this, as well as
Rune of the Fallen Crusader
for a blood / unholy tank. providing a decent heal with parry (
Forceful Deflection
) and extra frost damage / AP reduction, admitedly all with a chance to proc, and probably internal cooldowns, but it sounds like DK will be the most fun class to tank with, and decent DPS even in a tanking-oriented spec
color me excited.

using this
rune
will add a 3rd disease to the mix after
Plague Strike
&
Degeneration
causing
Obliterate
to add a further 183 additional damage (making the total 549 addtional damage) and a neat combo/cycle
which is nice
(ps. this is my first ever post , so please be kind - thanks)

25 point talent in frost tree, chillbane, adds a 30% snare to this. So if the procrate is any good, this would be really good to dual wield for pvp. Or at least for dueling.

Actually, this is being replaced next patch and "Frost fever" is a new disease Frost DKs will have. The talent is increasing that disease, not this rune.

This is the Rune-Incarnation of Frozen Runeweapon, a Frost Talent from the early Alpha that acted abit like Flametongue Weapon (+Frostdamage to attacks, how much depended on Weapon speed, also chance to cause 10x stacking frostvulnerability).
I think this solves the problem better, now we have a from 57 available Enchant that scales well (% of weapon damage is fine for an enchant cost ing nothing, even if it's only 1%), we will still have to see how good the procrate is, if and how often the Vulnerability can stack and if there are any runewords to come that outdps this one.
(
http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?spell=53344
will outdps this of course since it scales way better, though it is now learned at 70, it will be the most fitting Mainhand-Enchant to this one for Tri-Spec DW Deathknights, I personally am happy that they moved it to 70 instead of just nerfing it to death)

Don't forget that this also gives you another disease, which in turn increases the power of the spells Blood Strike, Blood Boil, and Obliterate.
Actually, the proc is considered a Magic effect, not a disease. At least that's what it says when it's highlighted.

Runeforging is a profession-like ability for Death Knights. While it is used like other professions, you don't need to train it; you get new recipies like every few levels as class abilities. There are no skillpoints to train. A Death Knight can only change the runeforged enchant on his weapon at a Rune Forge (obviously). At the moment, you can find Rune Forges at least in Acherus and Shadow Vault in Icecrown.
A runeforged weapon cannot have an enchant other than the temporary enchants, such as sharpening stones. Luckily for Death Knights, the runeforging recipies scale with level and gear. Here's a list of the runeforging recipies and the level a Death Knight receives them.

also does this compair to Cinderglacier? what do you people think is better... i would think that a flat out 2% and frost vulnerability would be better than a chance on hit to get 20% increase for a certain amount of time...

Currently I use Razorice on my mainhand and Cinderglacier on my offhand, when roaming and questing i seem to get the stack up to 3-4. My mainhand is a 2.6 speed axe and my offhand is a 1.6 sword. I am of course frost spec all but the 51st talent. I believe in my experience that this combo is pretty amazing.
At level 73 i've had howling blast crits up to 4.1k on my main target, and 3.6ish on surrounding targets. (higher crit on main target due to the razorice debuff)

stacked with
Curse of the Elements
. And the results form my test did show a full 18% more dmg per
Icy Touch
.
I tested 4 times each with 75 ITs each. The lock that helped me had the skill
Malediction
. I tested in the same gear and used two weapons each having Rune of Razorice to make sure the buff didn't fall off. I tested IT with no Frost V. by just casting at range and i got an avg. of 1004 per hit and 2019 per crit. With the lock I tested in melee once a full 5 stack of Frost V was up and CoE. This test ended with an avg dmg of 1193 per hit and 2384 per crit. This was a change of 18.82% and 18.08%.
The RNG dose affect the test a bit but over 150 total casts, this test dose seem fairly sound. Also I did another 75 to test just CoS and another 75 Frost V. So in total of 300 and all were with in a fraction of a % of were the should be based on the tooltips.
I would assume that this will affect all frost skill the same, but no testing has been done by me.

I use MH Razorice OH Cinderglacier, and frost oil both weapons. Not sure if the 2% plink eats the CG or not, but it seems likely (Thus wasting Cinderglacier's bonus on a 2% plink (wow...a whole 2.2% plink...yah, that kinda sucks), so probably best to go with 2 CG or 2 RI instead of 1 of each.

I like Cinderglacier better than Razorice when tanking (frost spec). I'm not sure how they compare in straight up dps, but Cinderglacier allows me to time my Howling Blasts to increase AoE threat while Razorice just provides a constant threat increase against a single target.

I just tested this. Very easy to test, as there are target dummies right next to the runeforges in the DK clubhouse. The 2% "Razor Frost" on melee attacks did not consume Cinderglacier. I'm sure the that frostbolts from frost oil would, though.

There's a bug with this and Killing Machine where the proc from this rune can proc Killing Machine, thus giving you a lot higher PPM (almost double). You can even have Killing Machine proc twice in one autoattack...
Try it yourself on a dummy.

For frost dps (21/50/0 spec) I consistently get the highest dps with Razorice. I have been getting 6% more than Cinderglacier, and 1% more than Fallen Crusader on fights longer than a minute or two. This is unbuffed / solo on the target dummy in Ebon Hold.

In 3.1.0 (currently in PTR) this has been changed to only affect the Death Knight's Frost spells, but it now stacks to 10% (2% per proc). Sorry, Frost mages. :(
I currently get the best dps from Cinderglacier (go figure) but with the doubling of this effect I may have to take another look at this.

with the upcoming 3.2 patch and the dualwield-buff, its getting pretty interesting. it seems, from various tests, that razorice / fallencrusader on two slow weapons will beat other combinations.
and of course razorice on mainhand, 'cause there should be the weap with most dmg, and so razorice will be scale better than in offhand.
just my 2 cents.

Actually testing at Elitist Jerks has proven that Razorice always deals damage depending on your Main Hand weapon's damage (unmodified by ap, so it doesn't actually scale), so putting it in your offhand will work just as well. The only time the placement would matter is if you have different speed weapons, in which case you want FC (higher proc chance from instant strikes) on your slower one (which generally should be your MH as well) and RI on the faster.

I agreed with this for a while myself, but I recently tried FC/Berserking to see just how much of a difference there would be. I tried Berserking on my Offhand and it gave me a roughly 300-400 DPS increase, I was hoping to receive the opinions of others on this matter.

Just wondering if this is 2% extra damage on just auto attacks, or 2% extra damage every time you hit with your weapon (so PS, BS, OB, FS etc.)? And if so would FS get buffed twice (Hit with FS, increased by 10% from vulnerability effect, and then another 2% extra weapon damage as frost?)
评论来自

Around 300 attack power from Berserking cannot match a static +10% frost damage from this rune forge to your primary target. Perhaps for AoE Berserking would beat Razorice, but then Cinderglacier would beat both (Death and Decay does not eat a charge).

I've attained a gear level (i245) where i can maintain 540 def without the need for the 'nerubian carapace' glyph, but again, threat is becoming a challenge as my guild bites at my heels on dps/threat now that the Quel'Delar is becoming more common - (melee at around 5-6k and casters at around 7-8k dps). I'm at 60%+ avoidance and over35k health before buffs, so I feel I can afford to shave some health and avoidance off, for the sake of maintaining threat. (Chill of the throne drops me to 40% avoidance roughly).
(I'm DW Frost Tanking, with threat of thass etc using 2x i232 dps maces). I'm giving Rune if Cinderglacier in OH and Rune of Razorice in MH serious consideration to help raise my threat. The cinderglacier is to bump howling blast (aoe)/frost strike (single) with Ravorice to bump damage and threat from Runestrike and overall frost damage. My survivability hasn't been a challenge lately, maintaining threat over windfury totem however has been. It is possible to be 540+ defense on armor alone at i232/i245+.
(DK threat is pretty stead-rate, Windfury proc with crits can be a lot of burst threat on the dps to push them over the tank and has the possibility to happen/proc more on the dps than it does for the tank, letting things quickly spiral out of the DK-tank's control). I'm hoping to push enough of a bubble through frost strike and HB to maintain a healthly lead (20% ish).
Note: above numbers are not an epeen, just stated for relevance and a referance point to see if this experiment will work as expected.
Note: I will update once I've tested it out and report whether or not success or fail.

KK Updating after trying this out...
Update: As promised I gave this a whirl and saw a significant enough bump to threat to recommend this strategy vs DW with just Nerubian Carapace (approx 5-7%) and the nice thing is, it scales with gear/progression. It didn't take long to stack frost vulnerability, even on multiple mobs (providing you are rotating through them) and stacking on the primary mob pulled for HB seemed to disperse larger HB to the neighboring ones. Not surprisingly, this seemed to stack faster with the MH than OH.
**Edit - Note: Even with this trick, it was insifficient threat to keep pace with endgame dps. I don't recommend DW tank for endgame. Use the best dps 2H you can find and make sure every autoattack is a RuneStrike for optimal threat.
A note about HB, it scales based on strength (SP from raw AP in particular). Keep that in mind when I discuss Fallen Crusader below. I'm anticipating a spikey, but significant threat boost with FC in the mix.
The performance on the OH with Cinderglacier was lacklustre at best and didnt seem to change if I put it into the MH or OH meaning it seems to proc off a hit, not necessarily the particular weapon bearing the rune, that hit. On the big dummy, on a 4 minute timer, I saw maybe 2-3 procs average (consistant with 1.5 ppm of the rune). While it was possible, to time the Cinderglacier procs with HB on a dummy, I can't see this as being very practical on a moving mob where you must focuss you attention on position/kiting etc. Another item of note: The '2 next hits +20% frost damage' buff from Cinderglacier seemed to get eaten with only one hit of Frost Strike (with Threat of Thassarian 3/3, it deals weapon damage 100% chance, from both weapons - so u only get 1 hit for the price of two).
This is a significant dent in the effectiveness of the Rune of Cinderglacier on Dual Wielding IMO
.
In heroics, mobs just don't last long enough for the Cinderglacier proc to matter. So I'm recommending against Cinderglacier on the OH, simply because I think there are better performers to be had. Dual Razorice is one option. I will also try Fallen Crusader in the OH for the strength proc to see which is better. For short fights and trash, or when you have to re-aquire on a boss that aggro wipes a lot, Razorice should win. For long fights when you have time to stack vulerability and pound with just the MH, the additional buff to threat on bosses from FC should become apparent. But, the proof is in the pudding and only experimentation will tell. I'll again experiment with switching hands.
I suspect Astalon is correct above. and if the comment re: EJ is correct (and probably is), then its just a question of which hand permits you to stack vulnerability faster (and consequently keeping it or regenerating it, when the boss decides to wipe aggro and wander around e.g. Marrowgar). Using slower 2x i232 1H as I am (2.60)
Black Icicle
, it will just come down to optimizing procs of Vulnerability and FC.
Another consideration which i just don't have the answer to, is does Razorice buff the damage and threat of Rune Strike? IE Does the +weapon damage as 'frost damage' buff the top end of the weapon, or does Rune Strike just base damage on the item table before tweaks. If the former, then DW dual Razorice probably gets the overall edge due to grinding bosses as often as possible with RS (and the fact that RS is maximum threat generator). Plus, as mentioned above, regardless of weapon, it bases the 2% weapon buff off the MH. you actually get to double down with this rune on DW.
**Edit: From my experimentation, it didn't - it just acted like some additional damage; like an
instant poison
that isn't buffed by AP.
Note: Others are reporting optimal dps from FC on mainhand and Razorice on offhand (c.f.
Fallen Crusader
thread).
I'll update again...

All damage except ticks from diseases will break
Hungering Cold
. 2% damage applies to damage from the weapon, and spell-like abilities based on a weapon swing. Vulnerability adds a damage multiplier to your Frost Fever ticks.

Consider 2% of the weapon damage as frost damage, and then buffed with Black Ice (2.2%) + (0.42% from Glacier Rot) + (0.3% from Tundra Stalker) x 10% for the rune buff itself = 3.21% additional damage on weapon swings. I disagree this is insignificant. (Plus if you have on both hands, you double down to 6.42%).
Some numbers: On 2x 600 weapon damage 1Handers, this is an additional 38.52 weapon damage. Which works out to (600 + 0.57x600 + 38) = 980 which is roughly 104% over base 942 for the weapons alone.
Remember it calculates off of the main hand per EJ. And we don't know yet if this is before or after abilites that base damage off of weapon damage. It could very likely buff the weapon damaged used to calculate Frost Strike etc. (as opposed to just applying an additional dallop of frost damage to the attack - which I agree is nice, but negligible).
**Edit - It doesn't, it's just a extra bloop of damage as frost.
If it does buff the weapon damage of those abilities, and my math/mechanics are correct, this would add ~ 4% overall damage to weapon abilities. And, more importantly to a tank, it adds threat - particularly if you throw the threat from Rune Strike into consideration.
**Edit - it doesn't; If you wish to bump threat, choose Fallen Crusader instead which will buff all threat generators.

After playing with it, I found that the Razorice proc on a 2hander while tanking was insufficient to generate the full debuff in most situations including single boss tanking. (Using weapon with 3.5sec swing, modified by Imp Icy Talons). It just didn't stack enough and the swingtime on 2H permitted the stack to fall off. I've found that Razorice requires DW to grind enough pips to attain the full 10% stack.
Not recommended for 2H tanking to bump threat. Use Rune of Fallen Crusader instead.
It's only a shame that the 2% damage didn't add to the base damage of the weapon to bump RS, FS, OB etc. Then it would truly be a useful rune for threat. As it is, its handy for DW, but will only affect HB and FS damage, which actually is a significant amount of your threat output in a modern non-OB build.
It may have been mentioned already, but the additional frost damage is rolled as additional strikes. IE if dual wielding, you roll once for the main hand, once for the off hand (with ThoTh), once for the MH for additional 2% ice damage, and then once again for the OH for 2% additional ice damage. This also means more chance for the mob to parry per button mash (just like Necrosis and Blood Caked Blade). So keep that in mind when itemizing expertise. This detail in the mechanic means that it does not enjoy additional threat benefit on a RS (sadly), just like BCB.
Madrok is correct about using the MH for razorice though. My experience is that the debuff Vulnerability stacked faster in that combo and didnt seem to affect the 1ppm of Fallen Crusader in the OH.

With the upcomming patch of 3.3.3, the rune will have a 100% Proc chance, and only stacks 5 times, but now each stack increases damage by 2%.
This makes the rune a much more viable option everywhere, with the 100% proc chance(Meaning every time you hit the target with the Rune, it adds a stack), it can be used with Cinder, if you're a DW DPS, for a 30% damage Increase.

Odd fun fact about Rune Forging BoAs, you need to be a certain level to learn and cast a Runeforge, but any DK can use any Runeforge if it is availabe.
Ex: If you, like myself, are one of the odd few who have 2 Death Knights on a single server, you can send a BoA (
重铸的真银圣剑
for example), to an upper level Death Knight (let's say 80), Runeforge it with Rune of the Fallen Crusader (or any other rune), then mail it ot your lower level Death knight (let's say 58), who will still be able to use it.
Why?
In WotLK, Runeforges required a certain level to use, however to allow them to be used on heirlooms it was made into an "actual" profession, and so Runeforges only require a 300 skill in Runeforging to use, similar to engineering goggles.
Since ALL Runeforges require 300 skill, and all Death Knights have 300/300 Runeforging, passing on Runeforges to a DK alt is possible.

Odd thing I noticed. Dark command procs this, which means on non tauntable bosses or mobs you could use taunt in your rotation(since taunt is off GCD) to truely max out your dps. It is a miniscule dps increase but it's free in all respects (unless you end up using it on something that can be taunted, then your just being a pain to your healers).

one thing i've noticed about this enchant is it does MUCH better on your main hand as the 2% extra damage as frost(which is further increased by the vulnerability..curiously enough) adds a great deal of dps compared to using it in the offhand (where it deals less damage since it seems to go off of in use weapon damage not static stats on the weapon/after strength). This means with rune of the fallen crusader in off hand while duelwielding with a certain minimum haste you still end up with crusader up pretty much 100% of the time and you end up dealing 57.7% more damage with razor ice than if it was in your off hand! The downside is while fallen crusader still is up all the time it is not procing back to back as much so your healing recieved from it is lower, but the ~647 dps gain for using razor ice in main hand instead of off seems worth :3 (this is in 502-528 gear). And even more noticeable in pvp as you apply razor ice slightly quicker leading to much larger burst.

Q: How do I runeforge my weapon?
A: Open your spellbook, open the blood section, click on Runeforging while standing in front of the Rune Forge on Acherus.
Q: Where is the Rune Forge?
A: Its on Acherus, in the huge open room that also contains Quartermaster Ozorg & the Soul Forge where you spend your artifact power to upgrade your weapon. The Rune Forge is NOT the Soul Forge. These are different things. The Rune Forge is up against a wall by itself. The Rune Forge is best described as a large skull with a blue flame in its mouth.
I had leveled a DK years ago and recently came back and for the life of me could not remember how to Runeforge my weapon. I stood in front of the Rune Forge like an idiot trying to click it as if it was an interface just like the Soul Forge where you upgrade your Artifact. Nope. You stand there but click a BUTTON in your blood spellbook! This is totally non-intuitive in the Legion era that trains you to click interfaces to open menus like the mission table and Soul Forge. I wouldn't be surprised if most DKs have unenchanted weapons because of this.
