Sadly, you won't notice it as much as you'd like, but it certainly does make a difference and eases the load on the good old PvP trinket, another moderately useful Survival PvP talent.

PVE usefulness can be a bit limited considering how hard it is to get gear with agi on it that doesn't have +hit, and the relatively low cap hunters have to hit for +hit. (It's around 6%ish I believe, can't remember exactly)
Might be able to swap some gear with +hit for gear that doesn't have it using this. Going to have to put some filler points somewhere when raising up a pve survival build anyway

Currently, I have 15% chance to resist movement imparing effects from the hunter talent "Surefooted." I also have 5% Snare and Root Resist from the meta gem "Enigmatic Skyfire Diamond." I also have the the Surefooted enchant on my boots to "increase snare and root resistance by 5%."
In total, this *should* be 10% chance to resist snares (slowing effects like frost shock) and roots (immobilizing effects like frost nova), as well as a 15% chance to resist "movement imparing effects," which I assume include snares and roots. (Please correct me if I'm wrong here.) Assuming all these are indeed working as they state, I should have a 25% chance to resist any given spell or ability that snares me.

According to Recap with data taken from general PvP over a few days, I didn't even resist 5% of any spells that slow or immobilize me.

I have not once resisted a hamstring, or wing clip. What exactly, if anything, are these gems/enchants/talents, supposed to do for me?

It's very nice for raiding hunters with problems reaching the hit cap (for example, early on in your hunter career, before you reach the hit cap naturally); with this talent, you require 95 hit rating to reach the hit cap, and 142 without it, and mind you this is on a level 73 "boss" mob. Very handy with limited gear choices.
Sadly, +15% resistance to movement impairing effects effectively means never, least of all when you really wish it would. It also doesn't help that most movement impairing effects you run into in PvP are easily spammable.

With WotlK it looksl ike this talent is being changed to Reduces the duration of Movement impairing effects by 50%, which is a cool improvement in my opinion as it is much more reliable, though it's still possible to be 'spamstringed' etc, this way when you do get out of melee range (Scattershot / Disengage perhaps) the effect will wear off Before they have a chance to get back to you with any luck.
What I want to know is how much is included in movement impairing effects?
Is that just like "Movement speed reduced by X percent" Or does it also include stuns (Damn rogues)?

Can anyone explain the movement and modification of this talent?
The removals from the survival tree are making me furious at blizzard, but I'm terrible at researching blue posts on the official forums. If anyone could explain why they took away the +hit from this talent, robbed us of Readiness and totally screwed Exposed Weakness, that would be great.
As of the most recent changes in ptr (9/30/08) I'm considering not speccing survival for the first time since level 15.........

45% with Da Voodoo Shuffle, add to that with 1% extra crit with bows, slight health regeneration, and Berserking. Trolls are roughly the best Non-BM hunters in PvP along with Dwarves and Night Elves that know how to take advantage of Shadowmeld. Orc if you want to go BM for PvE damage and if you really hate stuns :P.

It says that it affects only the movement impairing effects. So this talent does not affect stun durations right?
