If this debuff doesn't disappear when you get to the zone with your quests, it will cause issues with your follower giving you their bonuses (eg. 刺客的庇佑). In order to fix this issue, just log out of your character and log back in. The debuff should disappear and your follower will give you their bonus.

Until this bug is fixed, this workaround should be acceptable.

Edit: I figured it out.

You can only pick certain companions depending on which set of daily quests are availible for the day.

I'm using this macro to track which NPCs I've got credit for (as part of 如影随行). I took it from another thread on another of the Shado-Master meta achievements, so I take no credit for making this macro. You'll probably find it helpful if you don't have it already.
