How to Play Retribution Paladin in Shadowlands
Retribution Paladins are holy crusaders, who use a two-handed weapon to turn the power of the light into powerful damaging abilities and bring justice and vengeance to their enemies. It's the damage specialization of Paladin and is a melee spec, although it has a few abilities that can be cast from range as well.
The core of our rotation is centered around using abilities like
to generate Holy Power, which is consumed to deal devastating damage with abilities like
. Although Paladin's mobility options are somewhat limited, you will have access to a large array of buffs for yourself and your party to help you throughout a fight, as well as strong healing capabilities for your role.
If playing a melee with strong group support and healing options and also some very powerful burst damage cooldowns sounds appealing, then Retribution might be for you.

Retribution Paladin Changes in 9.0.5
Although there haven't been any baseline changes for Retribution, there have been a number of tweaks to Covenant abilities, conduits, and Legendaries that still will make an impact.
now generates 1 Holy Power when used.
This change brings Necrolord from the bottom to... still the bottom, but not quite as bad as it used to be.
- The extra spells from
now have a longer delay between hits.
Fixed an issue that caused the additional

's extra procs from
now have a small gap between them. Although this might seem like a nerf, in PvE there can be situations where this is actually a good thing -
now has a chance to proc more than once per

The change to

buff duration increased to 12 seconds (was 8 seconds) and Blessing of Dusk damage reduction increased to 4% (was 3%).

The buffs to both
definitely help their viability, but it's unlikely that it's enough for them to start beating the other strong Legendary options.
's damage buff is a much bigger deal, since
does a significant percent of Retribution's single target damage, and it will mostly likely be the strongest Legendary in pure single target situations.

Best Races for Retribution Paladin
Racials are incredibly close for Retribution. You shouldn't feel pressured to pick the race with the "best" output. The differences are small and can change depending on your gear or situation. However, if you want to pick your race purely based on their damage output, then the best Alliance races are Human, Dark Iron Dwarf, and Draenei, with the best one depending on your gear level. Lightforged Draenei is the best Alliance race in AoE situations. For Horde, all three races that can be Paladins will effectively contribute the same damage from their racial abilities.

I believe the wrong spell was used to show Exorcism in iconic abiliities, that is oldschool Art of War, which used to be a passive pre-wod that reset the cooldown of exorcism. In warlords they added Art of War to baseline Exorcism and they renamed Art of War to Exorcism.

In the list of racial mounts you have missed the lightforge ram, the new paladin dwarf mount (my favourite addition brought by 8.0 :p )!
Dark Iron Dwarf and their mount are also missing.
Random question, what's the source of the image at the top of this guide? That blood elf wielding Sulfuras is so cool!
Here is a macro I made up I want to share. It is very simple and fun to use because I didn't really like Retribution Paladin for years because I kept away from writing macros.
/castsequence reset=6, Crusader Strike, Blade of Justice
It's pretty easy. The reset cool down should be enough.
