This is quite an easy Quest just go there with a friend at lvl 15-19 and you should be fine.

The Witchwing Slayers do not drop the quest item 100% of the time, so a bit of grinding will be involved. To compound things, there will be stealthed harpies roaming the area, so watch out for unexpected adds.

Also, a random elite patrols the area, so if you are soloing, be certain you don't run into her.

Yeah, the advice here is solid - that is, take a friend. It isn't that the quest is hard, but the drop rate is abysmal on those rings, so unless you just love killing the same mob over and over you might want someone to talk to.

Marked on Wowhead as 18% drop rate.
Should be a little higher factoring in kills by people who didn't have the quest.

...yet I had to kill 39 Slayers before getting 6 rings.

Found a group of Witchwing Slayers around 39, 17

I don't know if Blizzard adjusted something or if I was lucky, but it only took me killing 7 Slayers before getting the 6 rings. Make sure you're killing the Slayers, because the other Witchwings won't drop it.

Also watch out for a rare elite lvl 19 harpy: Sister Rathtalon. She paths around the area and packs quite a punch.

id like to comment on this satement,no one area will have it drop "a lot" since only one mob drops it, if their were 2 mobs with the same name that would be possible, but sadly this isnt the case

Droprate is utterly pathetic. I killed about 12 harpys, nothing. Logged out. The next day I logged in, got 3 rings on the trot, then killed another 10 and got nothing. So ive logged out again and hopefully when I load up again I will get a the last 3 rings.

What were blizzard thinking? A 1:15 or whatever drop rate is only gonna make the player give up and not bother playing

Again Blizz shows a total lack of inovation in yet another boring kill / drop quest. Not only does the drop rate border to the insulting of players intelligence, but you have to run over half of Barrens to do these rubbish quests. If you got nothing better to do I guess it's fine, but I like to spend my gaming time on quests that at least gives some satisfaction, not only time consuming brainless grinding.

Chill on the Blizz bashing, guys. Some people enjoy these kinds of quests (I do, depending on my mood). There's plenty of quests out there to level on so just find some other quest to do.

This quest really isn't that difficult if you stick to the slayers. And the aggro range of the elite isn't big either. 1-2 out of every 5 slayers drops a ring. Just be patient.

I think that anyone who has a drop rate that is significantly higher than 50% is either extremely unlucky or is killing more than just the Slayers. Also, there is a light blue harpy (windcaller?) that roams around. i'd kill her as soon as you get the chance especially if you're solo and relying on mana. she pops up at inopportune moments.

This is the 1st of three harpy quests. You can get to them all by climbing the Dry Hills and running along the plateau near the top. Ridges lead down to the 3 areas where each quest takes place. This allows you to fight with the mountains to your back and once you clear the area where you descended, the respawn rate is low and you don't have to worry about what's behind you. The easiest path to climb is near Honor's Stand. There are 2 towers, one near the road and one that is off the road, smoldering. Just turn off the road and run toward the north at the base of the mountains a few more yards away. The ridge to follow up is near this site. There is nothing to clear up here except the occasional strider. You will have to avoid raptors and cats at the base of the mountain.

As of patch 3.3.2 and the increased drop rate, i got my 6 rings in about 7-8 kills.

EDIT: After looking for a source, I couldn't find anything on the the increased drop rate, I just thought I read it somewhere.. But it seems the drop rate hasn't increased at all. Please be more than welcome to correct me! :)

And after killing the 6th Slayer you can auto turnin and accept
