Just finished this quest, one of the longest grind quests Ive ever done. It just is.. blarg it sucks. The rewards aren't even that great. The raptors themselves are super tough. They have some move where they heal themselves for about 100-130 or so.

Did it in like 30 minutes. It's not that bad, really. And the XP given is worth it.

The ones I killed were down south near Boulderfist Hall.Took me about 20 minutes to complete. Just make sure you have Call To Arms in the meantime, so that you can kill some Ogres to await the respawns. About 1 out of each 4 Raptors drops the item.

With call to arms you can get two quests in about 20 minutes, and guile pretty much has 6k xp (like that guy above said), PLUS the xp you get from killing so many mobs.

This quest is very irritating. But very, very worth it. All in all you get about 6k experience just in quest completion alone. You also get Call of the Raptor which is a cool buff. I pulled a greenie Aurora Cloak, not to mention the xp you get from killing the 65 billion raptors and the 45 quadrillion spiders and buzzards that aggro from 15 continents away. The drop rate totally sucks, I had to actually check the log a few times to make sure I was killing the right monsters and also that the quest wasn't bugged or abandoned. Talk about annoying, I got to 11/12 hearts, and I joke you not I had to kill 11 more raptors just to get that last heart. Final numbers are in:

Total monsters it took to complete quest drops: 63 Raptors / 12 hearts

Total time: 45 minutes

Level : Solo 35 Warlock / VW used for aggro

VW's "Taunt" and "Suffering" were huge on this one. Without VW tanking it would have taken forever.

Total Aggravation (1 to 5000) : 9999999999

Great Quest for leveling though.

Wasnt too bad about 45 raptors to get the hearts. I did get a bit concerned at the end where I was at 11/12 and I killed about 7 guys before it dropped :)

The droprate is better than the eyes so I wouldn't be complaining.

It seems as if most of these creatures are supernatural beings, seeing as almost all of these can function perfectly without a heart.

A very long quest was it for me. At first I tried to group it with a 32 lvl pala, but the drop rate is just too low. I'd recommend soloing it at any conditions.

LvL 36 Druid, took me exactly 24 Raptor Kills.

I only aggro'd additional mobs twice, and if your cautious enough can get through without issue.

One thing great about this quest is for the skinners, you can basicly gain around 10 skill levels, i went fron 234 to 249 from this quest.

Good drop rate in my opinion. 21 raptors to complete. However I did keep pulling those damn spiders!

Even had a green drop, 5 agi, 5 spi

Had no problem with Alliance, was around late at night, half 11. Possibly the alliance were sleeping, more likely they are scared of me. xD

Not that annoying... just do this quest alone you wont have to kill a ton of raptors and its good exp

Go to the field west of Boulderfist Hall and east of the main road, around 48,77. Plenty of raptors there. The grind really wasn't bad at all, about on par for any gathering quest with a random drop.

Wouldn't recommend this quest for anyone under level 35. These raptors hit pretty aggressively.

Yeah, I was wondering about all of the aggro too, I was in that area before I got the quest and it was remarkably insane.

Now I have to go back and use most of this for good XP.

Oh and yeah the two people that talk are like 10 feet away from eachother, what's the point of making you the messenger?!

soloed it ez on lvl 33 with my druid just casted regrowth on myself and killed them in cat form i recommend you kill the lvl 37 they drop the most

You'd better pair this with the "Call to arms" quest.
The part where you kill the Boulderfist Brutes and Magus.

Raptors are just outside their cave at 55.74 Saves you some time and will bring you in about 10 -12k XP together (depends on how many mobs you kill in total ofc:>) .

And if you get sick of one mob type you can kill the other:)

Either I'm getting really luck, or the drop rate was bumped up to near 100% in patch 2.3 - I'm getting one on every kill as opposed to when I tried it earlier in the month.

It seems they fixed the drop rate on this quest. Killed 12 raptors, got 12 hearts.

this quest ain't hard at all, sure it will take some time but it drops,very good!
a good idea is to finish the quest "call to arms" http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=678 the boulderfist outpost is really near the raptor location. exact coords are : 53,77
by the way there are 2 raptor locations,the first is really close to the road and has like 3 raptors
and the other spot is west to the boulderfist cave and near the river
coords are between 45,82-50,82
got much more raptors there

Note that the vultures patroling the area (who used to be the worst about Arathi) are now not red, which means they won't attack. So one less thing to worry about, I guess.

Completed this as a 33 hunter. They had a 100% like people are saying, call to arms is nice to have so you can just kill the ogres while your there =] Found it funny tho, that the guile quest was a light red, while the ogres were dark red and the ogres were of lower levels >.>

i just charged the first raptors i saw, and didn't get a single one,after about 12 I decided to go for a different quest and kill raptors on the way.
But when i hit the Highland Flesheaters around 50 , 67 .yup, it was a 100% drop rate.

As previously said, near Blouderfist hall.

Near the ogre cave , you can find some around. Just kill those and the drop rate is rather good, so if you are at the right level, you may be able to finish this one up rather quickly.

The raptors are lvl 36-37. Unlike the previous quest this droprate is 100% or at least very close to it

I had a drop rate on 100%. Make sure you have http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=678 (Call to Arms) so you can do them after each other.

You need to kill Highland Fleshstalkers, not Highland Striders, and they have 100% drop

there only level 36-39 i did the quest with a level 34 rouge in about 15-17 minutes but make sure to stack up on food and i found them at 52.1 the hearts have a 100% drop rate :)
