Do not run out of the encounter before Baine does, or you will be doing this all over again, just hang back and wait for him to go through the portal. If you left before he does, drop the quest and get it again.

After you have left thorgast dungeon, you can safely hearthstone and deliver quest. Baine will follow.

This quest ends with you soloing an at-level elite. If your class/spec can do this on the regular, continue. If not, do not consider it.

For a balance druid who's not yet able to do heroic dungeons, this is doable if you dodge as much as possible and use barkskin.
Remember to use convoke the spirits! (if possible). DO NOT USE IT IF YOUR ASTRAL POWER IS ALREADY FULL!
If your health goes down faster than you'd like, remember you have heals you can use OUT of your moonkin form. I had to use swiftmend once. Oops.

For me the quest depended entirely on the buffs I got in torghast leading up to the fight - the first run i had a lot of utility buffs but nothing to increase health or damage and i couldnt even get the elite to 50% as an arms warrior - i let him kill me the 4 times, then ran Torghast again and had way better luck with the buffs, and was able to kill him no problem. If you can't do it try again

Yeah, had to bail on this quest. 149K health, really ? Wiped constantly. Traps got me every time, then he drained 80% of my health in 4 seconds. Guess I won't be progressing in the campaign.

Tough end fight as Fury Warriior. Failed first run. Then second run planned all buffs in function of end boss and got it down.

If you're having trouble with this quest, you can do it in a group. If your friends have already completed it, they can party sync down to you and you can share this quest with them.

Just helped a guildie with this quest. Still a challenging fight though.

Ok so this questis impossible I'm a ilvl 160 sub rogue and I can't even get this guy to half hp without getting 2 shotted. Blizzard makes it so easy for peopel with heals and tanks I watch it on videos but my paper thin rogue just gets raped it isn't even a contest, anyway guess I'm done with the campaign...

Don't be put off, I just managed it at ilvl 144 with 21,520 health (bm hunter).

This was tricky for me as a new level 60. Arcane mage 21k hp Ilvl 142. Burned all cool downs and blinked like I've never blinked before plus soulshape. Took me the four tries and made it with nothing left. Suckfest. Just came here to see if I could port back without ruining anything because pass on a repeat.

So basically, the whole Shadowlands scenario was for me to get the Lore on every regions and covenants, to chose a covenant, then take my courage and go free Baine (and I guess eventually Jaina?) from the jailor... 10 levels, storylines, etc... We get to free Baine from an easy 62 Elite that we solo scenario. not even a real hard storyline nor a dungeon nor a raid ?

Baine doesnt say nothing relevant, not even a thank you, you bring him back to Oribos and he sits there like a hobo in the hall doing nothing?

ive tried doing this at level elite at 150 ilvl frost death knight and he 2 shots me even if im watching out for the trap and rats.. this boss needs a serious tuning nerf...

It took me 3 days to finally manage this with a 143 ilvl and 50K health Frost Mage. Spending all the phantasma only on items that would help in this fight and choosing only Anima Powers with this fight in mind helped. Casting Alter Time just before starting and upgrading my barrier were big assists. It is a shocker of a fight and had me wondering if this would be as far as I got in SL :). Keep the faith.

22.5K fury warrior and can't get him past about 60%. I suck at dodging stuff, but I don't think it would matter. When I DO dodge his charge and traps, he still hits me for about 25% hp or more. Do I need this to unlock Threads of Fate? $%^&ing lame....like Proving Grounds Hard Mode but longer and less interesting. This is probably the most disappointing requirement so far.

I get there's a lot of "option" in SL, but unless I'm missing something this seems not optional and not doable for some classes unless the RNG gods shine down on you for bonuses.

I came here to check out the quest. I am really surprised anyone is having issues with this as a caster. It took me about 4 minutes to kite the last boss before Blaine. I was able to do it in one try. My iLVL was 142. 26k health.

It was a hell for me as an item level 144 assassination rogue (as of today). I changed my mechanism for the third run, by killing as many mobs as I could to get enough Phantasma and Anima Powers (I ultimately got 14), and spending as much as Phantasma at Floor 6, so the invincible Warden Arkoban became a piece of cake. My HP never fell to below 50% for the try.

I'm so fvcking done with this game, I've done this multiple times, only to find out it's bugging. There's no way in hell i'm doing that again, I legit quit.

Was nervous to reach Arkoban after reading everyone's responses. Completed on 12/12 no issues w/ affliction lock. Not sure if it's less intense now or what.

Not sure how people are finding this so hard... but maybe it was hotfixed by the 13th?

I did this as a Sub rogue at ilvl 158 with a full set of totally fresh PvP gear that I had not enchanted or upgraded, I spent time farming a full 15k honor before dinging 60. I did have my 3 starting conduits though and so should you if you are at the stage of trying to do this. Obliterated half his health in 5 seconds. Just watch out for his charge and where he throws his trap (it's always right next to you so just move) and burst him as hard as you can. He's not immune to stuns etc. either so he's easily kited and facerolled.

Pretty sure this must have been hotfixed, either that or people for some reason have a problem with this guy.

Not that I am very good but as an Unholy DK Item level 138 I could not even make it past the second floor, Item level 142 Blood DK I soloed this very easy, the boss was almost too easy.

Surprised people are having difficulty. Just have a bit of luck on the powerups - get ones that help hp and single target dps and should not be hard. He throws the trap, you have to get out of the way of his charge mechanic. It does help to have some sort of self heal though or expect to at least use a pot.

Lvl 145 guardian druid and was not hard at all.

The first couple of times I tried this I failed miserably. 151 Fury warrior. So I decided to kill everything and made sure I got every buff possible looking for health and attack. Didn't bypass anything. This time I made it without dying once.

I always find these storylines amusing. Blizz has made the Jailer seem all powerful, Maw seem terrible, Torghast seem unescapable.

Yet you pretty much just waltz in and take Baine with no issues...

They're always doing this in their stories, hyping something up and then making the solution ridiculously easy.

ARMS WARRIOR. Tried this 10 days ago, and struggled at iLvl145. Arkoban killed me and I'd run out of "deaths".
BUT .... just completed this at iLvl151, died once (stupid swinging axe) and had no problem with Arkoban. The difference? In the intervening period, I went and got better gear and better attacks/heals, mainly a L146 trinket that dropped from some WQ somewhere. Also a L207 ring ......
They are out there, these improvements. They were for an Arms Warrior ! I'm sure they are also there for your class, too. Please don't give up (some of these recent comments are upsetting, eh?). World Quests are the best !

So I think there are two big issues that make this quest difficult for so many - it clearly favors tanks and healers, and it favors an iLVL way higher than the one you will be geared with when you first get the quest.

When you first get it, you will get through it ok in a group (even if just two people). To solo it is a bit trickier as the boss is pretty nasty with lower level gear, especially if you are DPS. As a shaman, I tried this as enhancement spec the first time around, and got killed every time. I put it on the shelf for a couple of weeks, ran dailies and heroics, came back with iLVL 175 or so, picked up healing/spell damage DPS bonuses on the first 5 floors, then I respecced as restoration for the boss fight, and breezed through it this time.

When one commenter said "it's easy", it wasn't being facetious. If you are specced and geared for it, the boss really is quite easy. I was shocked by how easy it was for me considering how much I had struggled the first time around. I think part of the issue is that this quest is given out too soon, considering the learning curve and gear players accepting it typically have at the time (greens and low level blues). I suggest putting this quest in your back pocket for a while until you can gear up a bit.

If you are a mage or rogue, this one can be tough, and suggest bringing friends, or at least, respeccing for damage avoidance as best you can, and make sure you get your anima drops to do the same.

They must have nerfed this guy big time recently. I just killed him easily as a 147 assasination rogue - he had around 80k health, not 147k as mentioned by other comments.

Doing this at a 149 Frost Mage and it is MUCH easier since they nerfed Torghast. Like... significantly so. He's still a pain and dodge his charges and the traps AFTER he throws them, but it's soloable for sure.

For some reason, I cannot interact with the Wayfinder. I am definitely holding the Attuned Shard, and I have attempted to abandon and re-pick up the quest a couple of times to no avail. I have attempted to interact with the shard on my actionbars, in my bag, with the wayfinder. Nothing is working, I cannot progress passed this point of the quest. Sucks big eggs :(
