Dalaran is directly above Karazhan.

At this point in beta, Dalaran isn't loading in properly till you get above it. If you fly straight up from the entrance of Karazhan, you're very likely to have the city load around you while you're in the sewers - the entrances to which are presently blocked off, leaving you trapped within the sewers. The only way out is to use your hearthstone (premade characters have one directly to the Dalaran in the Broken Isles; there's a portal chamber in the center of the city, including a portal back to Karazhan, so just take it and try again).

To get around this, I recommend following the road to the east of Karazhan until you reach The Vice. From there, fly up to the world's ceiling, then fly back toward Karazhan. You'll see Dalaran materialize pretty quickly.

Once you see it, you'll be heading for the aforementioned portal chamber in the center of the city.

It looks like they may intend to add a portal to take you to Dalaran, the quest now has 2 objectives on Beta:

If the portal exists on Beta I couldn't find it, maybe they haven't added it yet.

Alliance one is located within Stormwind Keep, first open door on your left, and to the left once again. I had presumed the Keep because that's where Jaina was.

I was checking to see how much exp would be lost if you skipped the introductory quests in Legion. In Warlords of Draenor, I was never bothered by doing the Tanaan introductory scenario because it was easily half a level and the quests were relatively quick and painless. (30-60m max)

In Legion, after you complete the introduction once, you can subsequently skip it, but I wanted to see how much exp was lost.

Quests 1-5 don't even give experience and the introduction took me roughly 45 minutes with the beta bugs and knowing exactly what to do. At this time, I'd recommend skipping on subsequent characters based on exp/hour.

As a note, it appears that these quests don't even reward experience, so I'm not sure if that's a bug or not.

1) The Legion Returns <- Option to skip presented here
2) To Be Prepared (I believe you can turn this in and still skip.)
3) The Battle for Broken Shore (Forced into a group for a scenario minimal exp -- 20-30 minute scenario)
4) Fate of the Horde
5) Emissary
6) Demons Among Us (group kill exp, if swarmed) (15k exp)
7) Keep Your Friends Close (3750 exp)
8) In the Blink of an Eye (You skip to the turn in of this quest)

If you log in while flying, Khadgar's servant will fall to the ground and despawn so you can't get the quest. Relogging once you are on the ground should solve it.

Don't go into the building straight ahead, turn to your left and the doorway will be on your right. You might miss it if you are flying.

For those puzzled by the lack of clarity in the quest wording - you must begin the transportation by talking to Khadgar who is with his mates in the building to your right as you run down from the flight path area and down the hill.

UNABLE TO START THE LEGION QUESTLINE? Khadgar's Upgraded Servant Bugged? Dropped the quest and can't get it back? **Solved!**

There is an NPC for each faction:
Horde: Holgar Stormaxe
Alliance: Recruiter Lee *See edit at bottom*
that will get you where you need to go.

Simply interact with them and select this dialog option , accept the confirmation pop-up . You will be given the quest In the Blink of an Eye and teleported directly to New Dalaran where you can start your Artifact Quest and thus the Expansion. Win!

I have been looking all over for information on this issue and there has been little to be found anywhere, so I thought i'd post here in hopes that it saves other adventurers some time that ought be spent playing!

So, if you run this quest through to completion and witness Dal being transported to the Broken Isles, do you still have the option of somehow going back to WoLK Dalaran? I'm still trying to work through all the WoLK dailies for rep on my newly minted 100's and don't want to lose these dailies yet.

If you dropped this quest our ignore the pop up legion quest before.

Go to stormwind castle nd get the quest : 伊利达雷盟友

Just do that and then you are back in the Legion loop.

If you are unable to see the Portal to Dalaran to complete the quest, In the Blink of an Eye, try abandoning it and visit either Holgar Stormaxe (for the Horde) or Recruiter Lee (for the Alliance) to continue with the quest: To Be Prepared.

Just leaving this here in case anyone ever has the same issue as myself:
If you complete A Weapon of the Horde as a Blood Elf Demon Hunter and do not receive In the Blink of an Eye automatically afterwards, and have absolutely no means to acquire it via an npc, you must remake the character. I contacted customer support and they sent me an automated response 2 days later, telling me to visit this website to figure out my problem.

I had the problem where I was not able to see the quest " In the Blink of An Eye", I decided to log out and log back in and the quest popped up for me. So if you turn in Ilidari Allies and the next does not pop up. Just log out and back in and it should appear. Hope this helps!

The location of Dalaran is above Karazhan in Deadwind Pass.

If you can't locate the portal, you can fly to Deadwind Pass and keep going up until you get to Dalaran!

For Horde, the portal is beside the ramp on the South Western (non Drag) side in the Cleft of Shadows.

Note that you CAN fly in the pre-transported version of Dalaran as it's still in Azeroth.

Just a trivial side note. If you are Alliance and you have ever been curious about the Horde "only" areas of Dalaran, well now is your chance to see it all. While you are in this "version" of Dalaran no area is off limits. You can go exploring every nook and cranny without guards kicking you out. (I always knew the Horde were Flithy Animals.) However Dalaran's underbelly is completely locked off.

If you are leveling any new toons post 7.3.5 and you get to Level 98 with no quest givers available, just re-log and you should get The Legion Returns, or the Alliance equivalent, appearing on screen.

ANYONE LOOKING TO GET THE DALARAN INTRO AFTER BFA EXPANSION... this will assist you in getting the quest that you need in order to begin your call hall campaign

NOTE: If you skip the intro quests - but your quest log is full, you will hear the quest fail sound and appear in Dalaran without the 'In the Blink of an Eye' quest. Recruiter Lee will have disappeared from Stormwind and the follow up class quests will not start. SOLUTION: Talk to Archivist Elysiana inside the Violet Citadel. She will offer the chance to 'experience the Broken Shore' i.e. the intro quests. Agree and it will spawn Recruiter Lee in StormWind, enabling you to (once you have room in your quest log) to skip the quests again and take 'In the Blink of an Eye' successfully.

For those that can't complete this quest, be ready for a challenge to get it. There are two versions of this Quest. The one with this comment is deprecated by Blizzard and was only given out pre-release of Legion. If you have any Characters with this quest (in my case, didn't complete it prior to Legion release), and can't find the portal. IT DOES NOT EXIST ANYMORE. :(

I tried all of the steps in the previous comments...and even opened a ticket to Support on it. Support told me to go to Wowhead and research how to solve...yeah, thanks. They also directed me to abandon the Quest and let it pick it up again. This works great, except if you completed any of the previous quests in the line. I also tried using some of the other options like setAbandonQuest();AbandonQuest()...and it would NEVER leave my quest log. It was literally the strangest bug I have ever seen in my 14yrs of playing WoW. Support also mentioned abandoning the quest and then going to the Hero Board to pick it up...but it was still showing in my quest log, so it wouldn't update.

If the above sounds like you, do not despair...I have the fix. Fly to Karazahn and go up until Dalaran shows up. From there, you can find Khadgar in the center waiting on you for the teleport. You don't get credit for the Optional part of the quest, but you can complete the main quest and be happy.

I just did this quest today and came here for the same reason as everyone else. There is a Kirin Tor Emissary in the Portal Room in Orgrimmar that will take you to Dalaran. This version of Dalaran is phased so seems empty. Proceed to the teleportation pad room in the middle of the huge building, in the middle of Dalaran, and you'll experience the teleportation of Dalaran.

If you can't see the portal and can't find dalaran above karazhan, you can ask a mage to make a portal to legion dalaran. You'll end up in the version of dalaran above karazhan where you can finish the quest.

For boosted 120 toons that skip legion cinematic/scenario Go talk to 艾米丝·埃索盖斯Amisi Azuregaze in the dalaran inn. at 49, 39. She will give you a new dalaran hearthstone because you will not get a quest for it when you appear in dalaran.

Thanks to the AV Korraks event i found myself in this debacle...

MAIN ISSUE: Failure to complete Legion Intro / Recieve Dalaran Hearthstone

Problem #1 - had to keep going to new dalaran and instigating a story prompt from after the quest for Illidari allies the person to talk to there is "Archivist Elysiana" if you fall into this loop of crap. (档案员艾丽西娜)

Problem #2 - At the end of the legion intro quest line i got bugged between the final two quests even though it said it was completed in the wowhead profiler (See below if this is you)

If you have managed to get through this and still miraculously do not get a Dalaran Hearthstone like me.

Mine bugged out between "In the Blink of an Eye" (眨眼之间) quest and "Author! Author!" (大作家) but still somehow registered as completed when I looked it up in wowhead's profiler.

In the end I FINALLY, after about 5 hours of plowing through questline intros and campaign crap that had nothing to do with it, managed to get my hearthstone by visiting the innkeeper in New Dalaran after trying about everything i could think of.

Try her she may very well have a interaction item for a new one, i wouldn't say i "Misplaced it" more of a got screwed out of it temporarily in classic frustrating blizzard style! but the context text at the innkeeper will read "I seem to have misplaced my Dalaran Hearthstone, may i have another?". She did for me. Visit Amisi here (艾米丝·埃索盖斯)

Hopefully this can help at-least ONE person out there this was a serious joke and beyond frustrating. Good luck.

Valid as of 8.3:

If you're trying to pick up this quest, 眨眼之间, and you can't find where it is, don't despair!
Visit the Hero Call Board and pick up 军团再临：军团回归, and this will get you started on the quest chain to start Legion content.

This quest is then turned in to 征募官李 at the 暴风城 Docks at coords 37.1, 43.2

For alliance after all the changes that have happened in patches the Kirin Tor is located at bottom of the mage tower portal.

My Horde Alt in Patch 8.3 couldn't find any Portals leading to Kara in Org. I had to take the Zeppelin to STV and fly to Kara and you'll see Dalaran. I'm sure the Portal is somewhere in Org... but I could not find it after almost 30min; even though the Blizzard Quest Helper was saying is there.

If you pick this up on a non flying character for Chromie Timewalking Campaign, DO NOT go to Kharazhan. Go to the Horde or Alliance portal room.

SL pre-patch, the Kirin Tor emissary just told me to use the portal to go to azsuna. Picking up "the legion returns" from the war board leads to a broken quest, "To be prepared", there are no allies there to eat with, or sharpen your weapons etc.

As far as I'm aware, this quest is incredibly bugged. Picking it up takes you to the normal place, but as soon as you try to leave then you cannot abandon the quest.

Ugh - what a nightmare for Shadowlands and a new character.

All my other characters had the Dalaran Hearthstone from whatever years ago. But now I want my brand new Shadowlands character to have the second hearthstone - a great way to get to a bank without having to fly to Oribos.

There are dozens of helpful posts, some years old that are now out of date - I've chased my tail for a while, did quests recommended, but still no stone.

What we need is a definitive guide for how an alt can get the Dalaran Hearthstone in Shadowlands in 2021 and ignore the crap.

I understand Blizzards desire to keep the bank in Oribos and the AH in old cities so that we "congregate" and not just hang in our convents - fine. But make it easy to get to get there please!

Did the first part of the quest; talked to Kirin Tor in the mage portal room and teleported to Dalaran... but now I’m in Dalaran and can’t figure out how to activate the “teleportation witnessed” part of this.

Shadowlands Patch 9.0.2

Flying over to Karazhan and then flying in the air until Deadwind Pass Dalaran appears will let you complete the quest as someone else mentioned in this thread.

TO GET A DALARAN HEARTHSTONE AS A CHAR THAT DIDN'T DO LEGION:

1) Get the quest from the Hero's call board
2) Take it to the Stormwind docks
3) Select "skip the crap"
4) On arrival in Dalaran, go to Amisi Azuregae (Legerdemain Lounge) and ask her for a new Dalaran Hearthstone.

Done.

Four years on and I still can't get in phase to complete this quest. Commander Thorak has nothing, the Command Board has nothing relevant to lead in/get in phase as per other comments.
