You're going to want to watch out for knockback, both from the turtles and the Shieldwall Marines; both can knock you into other Marines.

For this reason, it's safer to the find the turtles that are in the water.

As the drop rate shows, these are definitely quicker to get from the Mature Terrapins. I spent about 5 minutes killing viseclaws and only had 2 chunks, then switched to killing terrapins and got the ramaining 5 chunks in just another 5 minutes.

Be warned though, their Sea Slam ability will knock you back a good distance, possibly aggro'ing other mobs you didn't want to fight with.

There's a large concentration of terrapins around 22.5,70. A lot of them are out in the water, away from most of the other mobs.
