Upon accepting the quest Chi-Ji will spawn and buff you with 希望之翼 which you'll need to fight the quest mob. While fighting 放血者兆金, he will periodically spawn waves of shadow to your left, right, or both sides: with the enhanced jump you can easily avoid the waves. Also during the fight, the warlord will throw his spear into the ground nearby. Pick it up: if you don't get it in time, it'll explode and possibly kill you. Once you've picked it up, use the special button at the bottom of the screen to throw it back at him and deal ~500k damage. Rinse and repeat.

This quest is the second in a chain. The first quest is called The Might of Three. NPC is Sun Tenderheart. She is sitting by the fire at (56,43) The Golden Pagoda in Vale of Eternal Blossoms. You must be Exalted with The Golden Lotus Faction to begin this quest.

A couple of tips for this quest:

1) Purple lightning will periodically come at you from your left, your right, or both sides. You will need to jump over these purple lightning waves with the 希望之翼 buff you received when accepting the quest.

Everytime you jump you will glide up into the air and a short distance forward. The direction you will go is the direction you're facing when you jumped. In other words, you will be going up and over the waves, not just up than down.
You will want to jump a bit early, don't wait until the lightning is right on top of you or you will take a good deal of lightning damage. It's imperative you are facing the wall of lightning that is coming at you, as again, you will glide up and forward when you jump and the idea is to jump over the wave.

2) At times throughout the fight, 放血者兆金 will throw his spear. Pay attention to him as well as watching for the purple waves so as you don't miss him throwing the spear.

When he throws the spear, simply run over and click it. Once you've picked it up, your Extra Action Button will apear and hitting this button will hurl the spear back at the Warlord doing massive damage.
It's is important that you quickly, but safely get to the spear ASAP and hurl it back at him. The reason for this is that if the spear is not handled in a somewhat timely manner, it will explode causing you massive damage. From personal experience, there is more than enough time to properly get to, and hurl back, the spear if you go for it right when he throws it. Keep in mind that he may throw the spear behind an incoming purple lightning wave.
Rinse and repeat.

3) Do not worry about going DPS crazy on this fight. The majority of damage that comes from killing 放血者兆金 comes from the aforementioned Hurl Spear attack. However, if there are no purple waves coming, and he hasn't thrown his spear, feel free to lay into him.

If you die and are wondering how to get back into the fight, there are roads on both sides of the Mogu'shan Palace. Take these roads and there will be steps leading up to Zhao-Jin. Resurrection Sickness affects the power of your spear throws, as well.

you can still die from jumping over the lightning waves, when the waves come just come down the steps, then jump back up when they pass.

I do not recommend doing this as a Beast Master. Your pet will most likely die and as a result lower you dps by a lot. As already been mentioned, a good portion of the damage comes from the spear, so it is not impossible. However you can speed it up a lot by helping.

As range you can Jump onto the 2 big pillars next to the stairs up to the mogu'shan palace and completly avoid all his abilitys :) if that helps anyone

I personally was not able to see the Button to throw back spear using Bartender 4 (which ive always been able to for boss fights in raids). I had to disable addon in order to finish quest easily.
Afterwards I found out about a macro to click the extra button:
/click ExtraActionButton1
might be useful to have that ready to try if you have bar mod

I died and could not find a route back to my body, had to wait 10min with the sickness.

I did this quest this morning as an arms warrior. When the purple lightning spawns and moves across the platform, just stand behind any one of the pillars that line the edge of the platform. The lightning won't hit you as it passes. It provides ample time for bandaging.

Something about this quest is bugging for me, I'll jump over the lightning and be well past it and in the clear, then a few seconds later I will be instantly transported back into the middle of the lightning wave, and then die after a couple of seconds. Happened 3 times now.

This is extremely hard. Even standing on top of the towers, the lightning will hit you. To make a long story short it's a good thing his health does not reset if you die. So, at least 15 deaths later, he finally went down. I already had the neck from the Klaxxi so didn't need the reward. I only did it to regain the use of the quartermaster who was nowhere to be found to get my Crane mount.

If you arent good with quests like this (talking about myself) do it the longest but safiest way. Stay by the NPCs upstairs, do some range damage to stay in combat, fly/run away towards the wall if u get hit. Make sure not to enter the dungeoun by mistake (he resets).
Mages can use Gr Insivisbility to sooth the damage. Eventually he is down. Est time 30 min:) Death does reset his HP or at least there is a chance.
Overall make asure u have a lot of bandages, heal potions and items that help to get your health back.
Looks like he is more vulnarable during Lightning Wall stage.

For those dying to the lightning: do NOT run-and-jump over the moving wall-lightning. This causes damage for some reason. Instead, face it as it's coming towards you, stand still, and then hit your spacebar at the appropriate time. You'll still go well over it, and shouldn't take damage.

Source: Tested this last night. Died once because I was running and jumping over the stuff. Once I tried this, it seemed to work fine.

Also, if you are like me and are impatient with quests and flew away before you got your buff, just run back down and talk to the quest giver again. There is an option to get the crane buff. Just make sure you wait until the crane is done talking to run up the stairs.

Classes with self healing spells will be laughing at this quest, the lightning walls can be avoided by simply staying in the pool of fire on the stairs, while the pool of fire is tickling you with 35k dmg, just toss yourself some heals(remember you can heal while running), when the lightning moved away from the middle run back in and pick up spears whenever he throws one.

Risking yourself and wasting time with the long and dumb 'buffed jump' is the worst thing to do, sine you take damage anyway.

Thanks so very very much! I died repeatedly then tried this out. As a druid I was able to stay in flight form all the time, didn't even attack him once. Just hovered next to him till he threw his spear then threw it back at him! When the lightning came I zoomed up out of the way. Took a while but it was worth it as I had begun to think I would never get this quest completed.

Regarding comment about Beast master players. Taking 'growl' off stops the pet from taking the aggro and it survives.

Saw several comments about people complaining of jumps.

Here's what I did to take zero damage:

Always fight him facing the stairs going up (you on the SW side). When wall(s) of lightning about even with the pillars press your jump key and you will go towards the upward stairs. While you're in the air turn to face him again and as soon as you hit the ground hit your jump key again. You may land on the lower stairs; just immediately move back into fight position.

This works especially well when you have 2 walls coming since you avoid both.

Rinse, repeat, enjoy!

Some things I've noticed:
Several times I've grabbed the spear only for the lightning to appear and instantly kill me.
Several times I've jumped high enough to avoid the lightning but for some reason I die anyway.

Not a terrible quest, but it seems to have a few bugs. Managed to do it in the end. Mainly following Bravehome's advice. Cheers man!

i found that if you are having trouble with the whole jumping part. i just did this quest with very little jumping maybe jumped at most 3 times if you stay in the middle of the plat form right next to him and when you see a wall starting to come at you run the other directions to the ramps each side has an area next to the ramps where you can get back and not be hit by the walls only time you really have to jump is when the walls come from both sides i will post a screen shot of where to run to you still stay in combat and his health will not reset

Easy version. Get up to the platform that he's on. It's one big rectangle. don't go outside the rectangle (stay within the fire boundaries).

Stand on top of him and dps him. When the dark red/black electricity waves come, jump over them (lead them by a lot).

When he throws his spear, it will land on the ground and make a white/blue circular glow. Run/jump to the spear and pick it up. Then use the action bar popup on your screen to throw the spear at him.

Move back to him in the center, rinse/repeat.

I completed this quest last night on my holy priest and can confirm that this entire encounter can in fact be completed while mounted.

You can stay mounted this whole fight just fly down and click on the spear then throw it at him.. fly back up till he throws it again

I used one of my flying mounts, flew close up to him to initiate the fight, flew upwards and parked. When he started throwing the spears I would fly over to where they landed, click on the spear, then move back towards him and click the special button to throw the spear back at him. The spear itself, once thrown back at him, causes 689,398k damage. Fly back up and wait again. He throws a spear every minute or so (I wasn't counting specfic seconds). Using this technique I didn't die and the fight ended after about 15 minutes. Yes, it was long, but so is the walk back to your body from dying over and over trying to use that stupid "jump" buff.

You never have to dismount.

Do not try this quest is you are having a laggy connection.

I was at over 3k Latency and to time the jump was nearly impossible.

If it were not for a Rogue doing it at the same time, I would have had to wait until I had gotten a better connection.

Some maintain that you can stay mounted, I couldn't for some reason so the following relates to doing it without a mount.

When you get the quest, mount and fly up above the boss so that you can look down and get a feel for the layout. Not sure exactly how to start the fight but it started when I landed and hit the boss once. Don't spend time fighting him, the golden lotus npc does that. Just be aware of what's going on, watch for the spear and the shadow damage waves.

You are able to jump with wings very high, above damage at any time.

Stay at or near the center of the rectangular area, the boss won't attack you. He occasionally throws the spear to one side or the other and this is what you damage him with. I didn't detect a pattern to which side he throws it. The spear gives off an aoe effect so don't stand too close to it. Just run to it, click it and throw it at him.

There is a wave of shadow damage that starts at either end and moves slowly to the other side. It will do a lot of damage so jump over it. Even if you're jumping, if it hits you while you're in the air, it can still kill you. Jump straight up, not forward and up. There are times, especially towards the end of the fight, when one wave starts at both ends so you have two to avoid. Again, stay to the center, jump over one towards where it started then wait for the second to get close and jump over that one towards the other side. You have to repeat the spear throw until he's dead so you'll have to throw it at least six times if I recall correctly.

Confirmed again tonight that you CAN complete this quest while mounted. Like the previous poster mentioned...just stay on your mount, grab staves when they are thrown, throw them back and get back in the air. Easy peasy.

Stay mounted at all times for an easier fight.

The way I did this really easy:

Land your mount close to Warlord Zhao-Jin the Bloodletter, this seems to occasionally trigger him to toss a spear. Get that and throw it at him (use the button). Move close again.

If a lightning wave comes, fly up high, wait and land again when its safe. The lighning wave is lethal, so stay clear of it!

It took a while, but really easy.

Perhaps it was just me, but flying high didnt provoke Zhao-Jin to toss any spears for me. Landed close by, and he did so like every minute or so.

Try to stay mounted, it is more time consuming, but after I died a few times while NOT mounted, I find that it was much easier to stay mounted. Just stay behind the boss, avoid the lightning and get the spear, then get use it asap.

This is the most dumbass quest ever. I died about 7 times, each time ran back and he was back at full health. Nowhere to repair, had to leave zone.

Do this the slow way.
Be mounted, and stay mounted (I used the red flying cloud mount)
Get behind the boss.
Be in combat range and you will do dps on him, from your buffs, I believe

When you pass more than 80% of Leven's threat, the spear is thrown.
Leven will tell you to get the spear.
Get the spear and hit the button on the action bar
Return to your mounted position, behind the boss in combat range

Avoid the red / black lightening.

Occasionally a spear will be thrown into the red / black lightening. Sometimes you can wait and get it. Other times it will disappear.

BE PATIENT.

if you dont pick up and throw the spear back at him it makes a huge amount of damage and you eventually die

Update: With the mount method I had it done in less than 10 minutes. I dismounted at 400K HP to DPS.

Odd but interesting titbit for those of us who dabble in pet-battles. While doing this quest the entire vale is phased. Aki and her daily is available and there are a few wild pets around. At least for me there were no Civets of any sort around, and no Eternal Striders. There were however plenty of Gilded Moths and the interesting thing is that after engaging in battle with 9 different Gilded Moths all of them had the same set-up of level 24-25 uncommon Gilded Moth, rare Effervescent Glowfly and poor Yellow-bellied Bullfrog!

While I have no way of knowing if you'd get the same set-up of creatures in that quality. It made it easy for me to catch a few rare ones and then set up a tailored team to easily deal with them and level up a lower pet. In my case I fronted with my Nether Ray Fry using Arcane Blast and Slicing Winds. It would kill both flyers and get the frog pretty low before dying, then I'd swap in my other pet to let him get the kill.

EDIT: After some further exploration it seems that all the different main pets you engage will have one determined set-up. So all Gilded Moths have the same companions of the same quality, all Effervescent Glowflys have the same companions with the same quality etc.

if youre behind the boss and your back is facing the stairs, all you have to do is if the lightning comes out on the left then you run to the top right corner of he room. there's a little operning there that you can hide in until it retreats then you can go back to throwing the spear and dpsing the boss. and vice versa if the lightning comes out from the other side. took five minutes as a 468 rogue

I've just completed this quest after dying about 4 times.
1. Once I got my first shot in I couldn't stay mounted.
2. I zoomed out as far as the camera shot would allow.
3. Face the lightning you are going to jump. When you jump you go in a big arc forward in the direction you are facing so jump a little before the tendrils of the lightning get to you.
4. Worry about lightning first even if a spear appears.
5. Grab spear and shot it straight back at him (big button in middle bottom of your screen). If you don't shoot it back straight away bad things can happen.

Someone above said this quest took 20 minutes. My dps is average and it took me a little under 5 minutes.

Oh, and stick to the path that goes into the big building - the soors are in the sides like everyone else says.

I found that running up the stairs when the lightning comes makes it a lot easier. You can stand up there to avoid it.

The fight is pretty easy for caster dps (mage, warlock, druid, priest, shaman) using the following tactics:
There are four columns at the top of the stairs, two columns are quite near the boss.
Jump on top of one of this columns and start fight.
When the boss will throw a spear, watch for lightning, if clear, jump down, pick the spear and throw at the boss.
Then jump back to the column and continue to fight until next spear will be thrown.
Repeat as long as needed.

It may take a couple tries to get the timing down, but all in all a pretty straight forward fight. Your priority should be: Jump lightning > Spears > DPS. Jump well in advance when the lightning moves your way. If you wait until it's close, the lightning splinters will zap you about halfway over the wave.

A word of note for non-healing classes: Bring a decent amount of bandages. If you do wipe, the Red Crane's buff will prevent you from eating. If you're going at it solo, stay alert while recuperating. If someone else happens along and starts the quest, you will get zapped no matter how far off to the side you stand (obviously learned the hard way).

This one was brutal on my priest spent about 4 or 5 hours developing a method to do it under 2 hours.

I found it to be very easy quest; perhaps one of the easiest in the game. Luck may have played a role here. I went in with a frost mage and went to the top of the stairsI had planned on summoning my elemental after each death. I started him off he took Zhao down by nearly 400,000 before he was killed. when I summoned him. he came up on a ledge outside the wall. I gave him the attack command and just let him keep doing damage at 3 minutes 30 seconds per million so in just a little over 3/4 hour he will kill off Zhao.

So just sit back and wait or go into the forums as I am now, while the elemental works his slow steady killling

I can confirm that the mounted way still works.
I used Red Flying Cloud mount. Just zoom your camera as far back as it will go and use overhead shot like most have posted here.

Stay right behind Zhao the whole time.You will have plenty of time to see the lighting bolts before they get to you. Just fly up from them a bit and you will be out of range.

Let the spear do all the damage. It did 689k DPS for me. Took about 6-8 mins tops.

I highly recommend the flying mount technique. I never took damage once, just fly above the lightning, never dismount, and when a spear is thrown, throw it back.

The spears deal 5% of his total health, so it will take 20 before the fight is over if you stay mounted.

It would have been cheaper for me to buy an epic necklace in the AH after all my gear repairs!

I am terrible at the "nintendo" skilled quests, so this was a nightmare for me. I finally gave up after many deaths and strolls from the graveyard. I couldn't seem to stay mounted either.

However! I did finally succeed by hanging around while someone else did it. I only swooped in once to grab a sword and it gave me credit for the kill. I wasn't sure if it would or not. So this is another option if you are having trouble staying mounted.

Felt a bit guilty when the Golden Lotus pandas were singing my praises!

Flying for this quest really is the best way to do it. It takes a half hour, give or take, but it's worth not having to pay obscene repair costs from 10+ deaths to the stupid lightning.

The best way to do this is to mount up on the steps, fly over the fire, and dip down to touch the ground next to Zhao. This will start combat for you, and then you must periodically dip down to land near him, flying back up quickly, in order to trigger each of his attacks. Stay up and out of the way of the lightning (you need to stay pretty high for it not to hit you with any stray tendrils) and every other trigger gets him to throw a spear. Just quickly fly down, pick up the spear (this does not dismount you) and hit the giant button that appears at the bottom of your screen, then fly back up. Rinse and repeat with about 20 spears, and he'll die without you taking a single point of damage!

After dying once, I figured out how to not die and not have it take 30 minutes with the flying method. So here is an alternative method:

Do NOT jump over the lightning. DO jump over the flames to the (I jumped to the west/down the stairs) to avoid the lightning. You will take some minor damage, but nothing compared to the lightning. Avoid the lightning completed and get spears when you can. If you can self heal, do so while on the stairs.

Completed today in about 4-5 minutes on my monk.

its not that hard once you get timed to his tactics , anytime the electric wave is coming just jump , you do not have to be running in the direction your jumping , just facing that way , next EVERYTIME he throws down his spear you MUST pick it up , once you have it right click the icon in the middle of your screen and it will throw it back to him doing massive amounts of damage , if you let the spears lay on the ground they stack damage on you , you just dps , the little guy helping you is tanking

5 minute fight once you understand the tactics

also if you die , the entrance to get back to him is on the right hand side , its the same entrance used for the Mogu'shan Palace meeting stone , do not try and enter thru the water you'll never get there

What I found (and do) is when the lightning if coming toward you simply run to the edge of the platform where all the pillars are, stand on the ledge and let it pass. You won't take any damage, as soon as it passes run out and attack again.

I just did this quest last nite and I have a quick tip I would like to contribute:

While on my warrior, i had been receiving heavy damage from all the aforementioned lightning and such...as well as dying several times.

I just happened to back up too far up the stairs and into the dungeon entrance one time and discovered that once I exited the dungeon the quest had not reset.

So I say....hmmmm....i went back into the dungeon and layed out a banquet to eat and renew my health and exited once again to continue the fight, finding that again the quest or NPC had not reset.

Every once in awhile when i needed some health I would go into the dungeon, eat, exit and resume the fight.

I was on my mount and he only threw the spear once, so dumb me got impatient and flew lower down to try and make him throw the spear. That was not good as it knocked me off my mount so don't do that. (Edit: Ok I don't know what knocked me off, but you have to fly down so you enter combat. Then he will either do spear or lightning.)

Here's the topper: I abandoned the quest, left the zone, logged out. He is still there fighting and the zone is still phased. Mobs everywhere. The inn, trade supplies, flight path, and bankers are gone. Elder charm lady is gone. August Celestials guy is gone. Also the stuff in the quest building like the archaeology daily, the inscription trainer, and brann bronzebeard. Not because I'm on the quest but after I *abandoned* it! I don't know what else I could do to get rid of this phase so I'll just have to re-get the quest and keep trying. I don't need that quest reward anyway tbh; use caution before you start this quest!

...for ranged dps, you can stay below the flames on the steps and DPS him thru the flames....when he says "my spear will finish you", back down the steps a bit till you are OOR for about a 5-10 count, then rinse and repeat.

After dying multiple times, I thought I would next try the "stay mounted" approach (as others have suggested)... but as I entered the area to resurrect near my body, I found that another horde character was also fighting! I don't know if it was a glitch or not... but together, we were able to quickly down the mob and complete the quest. Teamwork! Love it!

This is the dumbest, most idiotic quest Blizzard EVER created! I attempted this quest 10 times and didn't even come close to completing it! I tried the advice in the posts and NONE of them worked for me! My toon is a lvl 90 marks hunter and none of my slows nor my pets had ANY effect on the boss! I sent a bug ticket to the GM because all of the NPCs at the Shrine of Two Moons disappeared. According to the GM I MUST complete this stupid quest in order for the NPCs to reappear! The flightmaster and rep vendor are two of those NPCs. I cannot get any rep rewards or gear until these NPCs return and they won't return until I complete this stupid quest! Blizz, you just may have lost an account! :(

Incredibly easy, all you have to do is jump over lightning and throw his spears back at him. Didn't take any damage at all on Ret. Pally. People are making this harder than it has to be.

I used to use the "stay mounted" technique for accomplishing this quest. Worked great. When I tried that today on a new character, however, I found that the quest would not progress unless I was in combat. After dying and running back, I would again have to start combat to get things going. So now I had to jump carefully and stay in combat. What worked best was to jump down the stairs when the lightning got close, then wait until he threw a spear, then look cautiously to see where the lightning was, jump back in, grab the spear, throw it, and jump back down the stairs. Towards the end of the fight, when both waves of lightning are converging, there may be only a couple of seconds to grab the spear, so if you have doubts, wait until the next spear toss. Saves a lot of running back from the graveyard. Hope this helps those of you who are as slow as I. :-)

I can confirm the "stay mounted" trick still works in 5.2, but it will occasionally decide not to progress as SierraFred above experienced. This doesn't mean you have to dismount and do it the hard way, though - while it does take forever, all I did was, whenever it was safe, drop down and run through Zhao-Jin to put myself in combat while still mounted. Then, within a few seconds, he'd either throw the spear, summon lightning, or both. It took about 20 minutes this way, but it worked. Also, I recommend zooming all the way out - it's much easier to see the lightning that way.

Can also confirm the 'stay mounted' technique works. Killed the mob without taking damage at all (after dying twice earlier). Land close to initiate spears, go high immediately, dive down to get the spears - and then throw them. Avoid the lightning getting the spears!
If you drop the quest (as I foolishly did) you'll stay zone phased forever UNLESS you get the quest again from giver at the bottom of the steps.

The tips here are all great. I wanted to chime in, however.

This quest is a bit challenging compared to the other Golden Lotus quests you should have done thus far. But once you figure out what to do, there is no need to make it challenging.

As others have mentioned, you are given a buff that makes your jumping far superior to normal. You will need this as you will have to jump over the red lightning that spawns on the ground.

This, as another person mentioned, is not really a DPS fight. Most of the damage will come from the spears that are thrown. It helps a little to do DPS in between jumping and throwing, but it may be more beneficial to you to switch to a healing spec if you have one for this fight. Until I got the hang of the jumping, I did far more healing than I did damage. I did this in ret spec and quickly wished I had switched to Holy.

You can jump to the top of the steps where the other Golden Lotus warriors are standing without taking any damage. Instead of jumping in several directions (really it is just two, but I like to exaggerate), I jumped to the top of the stairs. From there, I could see where the lightning was going and I could see where the next spear was thrown. At which point, I'd face the spear and jump again. I found it easier to complete the quest this way. This quest seems hard, but once you figure out the tricks, it's easy. It takes a while to get his health down (even if you do DPS in between spears and jumping), but it does not have to be overly complicated.

If you're a ranged dps, spend most of the fight on the stairs and only jump onto the landing to get the spear.

Not sure about anyone else but every time he threw his spear it landed in the lightning that crosses the floor, so I had to jump away and then back so when I could click on the spear it would blow up in my face...

I spend the vast majority of this fight on the pillar beside the stairs. If you time it correct you can jump up there and totally avoid the red lightening, the only time you need to jump down is to throw the spears then just jump straight back up again.

I hope this tip helps make the fight a bit easier.

Use the wings from the quest starter to jump high over the red-black lightings. When the boss throws a Lighting Spear on the ground take the spear and throw it at him.

just using the super jumping buff got me killed as you can't control where you land once in the air, and I jumped into a second wave of lightning and was killed a couple times until I just stayed mounted and swooped in to get the spear. I had to go to the GL Quartermaster and get my armor repaired as I was left with most of it at 0.

I was ashamed to take any reward as many times as I died until I got the hang of how to do this quest.

I just completed this quest post 5.3 with a BM Hunter. Accepted the quest and got the jump ability by talking to the quest giver again.

Then headed up the long steps to the top platform, which is on fire. Sent in the pet and started to dps. When the pet took some hits, I pulled it back to heal (Line of sight issue) and sent it back in. Then I headed up to the terrace and saw a spear. Clicked on it, got an on-screen button and hurled it at Zhao-Jin.

Then the crackling lightning started; black and red lightning moving left to right and right to left on the platform. I was facing Zhao-Jin and when the lightning was close enough for comfort I hit the space bag and moved forward. The jump will take you over Zhao-Jin to the other side of the platform (keep in mind I am a ranged class).

There was no drift or warp or anything that would move me out of a straight jump path. I am not sure what problems previous posters had, I merely hit the space bar and moved forward. That always landed me past Zhao-Jin. A few times I had to jump again but it still didn't land me in odd places..

Whenever a lance poked out of the ground (resonating blue electricity waves from point of impact) I headed there, picked it up and tossed it at Zhao-Jin.

The fight took less than 3 minutes and the only damage I took was a mysterious 103,000 magical damage (purple).

Thanks to all the helpful posts on here; without these I think I would have been trying to work out the formula for this one for a while.

Once I knew about the jumping stuff this was a pretty enjoyable quest & not as tough as I had originally found. I won't add to the 'technique' guides on here as they tell you all you need to know. I did not use the flight method, just jumped, took spear, throw spear etc. & it worked fine.

First time I died. Then, I logged in here and saw the trick about staying on your mount. I did precisely that and the only damage was when I waited too long to grab the spear (which you can do mounted) and got 80k damage from it overloading.

Since this quest is going away on Sept 10, IIRC, this tactic should work just fine so you can get your achievement/feat of strength.

For those casters/ranged who enjoy attacking while moving, be sure to be on the ground when he dies.
The high-jump immunity-from-fall-damage disappears the instant the boss is dead.
