Am I missing something important to this quest? I can't get this stupid spider downed.

Last time I had this much problem it was with Vicejaw, which turned out to have a trick to it.

The spiders can bite you causing a poison debuff I think. The more that actually bite you, the worse the damage is. I noticed that one time i was taking over 20k per tick and then died after killing the Matriarch.

THIS PART IS FOR THOSE THAT TICK OVER TO REVERED DOING DAILYS AFTER ACQUIRING THIS QUEST BUT BEFORE FINISHING IT:

If you acquire this quest and hit revered before killing the matriarch, you will not be able to see the Matriarch in the halls. This is due to the fact you receive a new questline upon hitting revered. Go back to the Golden Pagoda and you will find an npc with a yellow ! over it's head. There will be three total quests you have to complete from this npc:

Battle Spear of the Thunder King(雷电之王的战矛)
Battle Helm of the Thunder King(雷电之王的战盔)
Battle Axe of the Thunder King(雷电之王的战斧)

After finishing these quests, the halls will phase back into the correct phase and you should be able to complete The Ashweb Matriarch with no issues :).

While Caladynus' info above on the getting revered issue is correct, if the quest 雷电之王的战盔 is bugged on your server like it is mine you wont be able to complete any quest in Guo-Lai halls until the Battle Helm quest is completed. The only solutions to that that I have found at this point is either waiting til server reset or grouping with someone on a cross realm where the bug doesn't exist.

Note that if you are trying to get Grisly Trophies for the DM faire, this is an excellent quest to grind the ears on, as the millions of little spiders she summons each have a chance to drop a trophy.

I solo'd him rather easy on my Rogue once I kited him into the first room out of range of the spider cocoons. His 'Call Swarm' ability has a limited range and if you can get him into the first room over close to the closed doors you can pull him out of range and take him down rather easy. Good Luck

Here's a trick: After doing the first round of dailies in the ruins of Guo-Lai, don't turn in the quest "That's Not A Rock". You will get to keep the torch which downs the hatchlings in Guo-Lai Halls instantly.

You can still get the "Halls" quests without turning it in.

Here's the deal.. The 1st thing you want to do is kill the pat group of little spiders that is circling the room first. The first time I did this I had no idea there was a pat group.. obviously, it spawned since someone must have recently cleared it.

Start by hitting Bloodtip and kite him to just past the entrance door to his room. Unfortunately, his baby spider packs will still come.. but it will take them time to get to you. However, you must aoe these little guys ASAP.. they have very little health but those bites suck ass and will kill you. If you kill Bloodtip fast enough, you'll have the little ones still coming towards you.. you can run away or just finish them off.

Edit: I'll also try Tekie's tip next time.. unfortunately, I had turned in the previous quest before doing this one.
