I don't know what will happen to BC's ! but it's good to have an alternative in new expansions.

源生之能 costs more than [真金 in my server. so it's even better economically!

Well, the BC ones are removed from the game, so this is the only way to get a mastery in Transmutation

Agreed. As for 4.3.0 the NPC that gives Transmutation Specialization seems to be missing, nobody has confirmed it yet.

You cant get Transmutation Master from Zarevhi anymore

It looks like you must be at 475 alch in order to make the quest available, at which point you can pick it up from an alchemy trainer in a major city.

Old limit was 350. At more than this can confirm new quest does not show (nor old!). I think Eryenis might be right about new higher level. Will re-post when I find out.

Yup - new limit is 475 - exclamation mark appeared as I hit 475. Explains why people not able to see - wrong, old level :)

Thank you for the info re: the new skill requirement. Prior to patch 4.3 being installed, I had the quest but had not completed it. When patch 4.3 was installed, the quest disappeared from my quest log and Zarevhi no longer offers it. I'm level 72 and 390 skill.

I opened a help ticket about this and Blizzard's response was "Please remember, Blizzard Support does not generally assist with any quest reward swaps or any quest assistance. Also, for general quest assistance you can always visit a fan site like http://www.wowhead.com. There are many player comments along with hints or tricks that will assist you."

Given that Blizzard is using wowhead for their customer support, it would be very useful for this information to be attached to the main alchemy article (炼金术)

You can't retrain for gold anymore. You'll have to get the quest to make the items for the mastery you really wanted. I just found out the hard way.

You need 4x 真金 to complete this.

So, in total, the mats needed are:

24x 燃铁矿石 = 12x 燃钢锭
40x 动燃火焰
40x 动燃空气
40x 动燃之水
4 day cooldown for 转化：真金

The truegold required for the quest turn-in does not have to be crafted by the alchemist with the quest, despite flavour text implications to the contrary. While this may be obvious to some, I was nonetheless surprised it worked this way.

I picked up the quest, grabbed three Truegold from my bank and one from the AH, and had my Transmutation mastery specialization within about 20 minutes.

Every bar of Truegold (in fact, every crafted item) contains an informational tag, "Created by <x>" which is visible to the players. Were I programming this quest, anyone trying to turn in Truegold that they had not created would trigger a reaction something like this:

<Quest Target> accepts your Truegold.
<Quest Target> examines the Truegold, assessing its quality and craftsmanship.
<Quest Target> notices the maker's mark, and eyes you suspiciously.
<Quest Target> says, "Aha! Tryin' to pull a fast one, eh? Did yeh think I wouldn't recognize <truegold maker>'s handiwork?"
<Quest Target> says, "Well, you're not the first one who's tried t' pass off someone else's talent as theirs, and you probably won't be the last..."
<Quest Target> says, "Now off with yeh, and don't come back until yeh've got Truegold of your own t' show me!"
<Quest Target> puts the Truegold in his pocket
<Quest Target> says, "I'll just keep this as a donation to the Old Alchemist's Retirement Home..."

... and that would be the last you'd see of THAT particular bar of Truegold... and the cash you spent on it. :-)

Does this quest consume the truegold? , i am working to making a 时沙之瓶, and in desperate need of truegold, with the 1 per day limit,i dont really want to grind 12 days of this, leveled mining, herb, and alchemy in around 5 this will help, but at a cost of 4 Truegold, i am better off not choosing this.
Also , my server has outrageous AH prices

Why the hell is the quest available at 475 and yet you can't learn "Transmute ~~Truegold~~ Living Steel" until much, much later? Very frustrating.

You no longer have to bring truegold to complete this quest. It's 4x 活化钢 now.

As of MoP, this now requires that you turn in 活化钢 x4 to obtain Transmutation Master!

In addition, you will not be able to see this quest until 475 skill and/or until you've unlearned your current specialization.

Lastly, as I've seen several questions of this nature, the 活化钢 is consumed when you complete the quest.(##RESPBREAK##)12##DELIM##Sas148##DELIM##

I would suggest completing this quest as soon as possible in MoP as although Living Steel prices are still very high its more beneficial in the long run as my first day as a Transmutation master it proced and i received 5 Living Steel bars making up for the loss to begin with :)

I dont know if im just unlucky. But since 2 weeks ago the maximum i've got with Transmutation is 2x. When MoP hit and i was first able to make Living Steel I got a few 5x. I have 5 Alchemy Transmutation Masters. And using them all each day to make Living Steel. And still for the last two weeks. THe maxmim i've got is 2x. Same with Ghost Iron Bar -> Trillium Bar. Also a max of 2x (made 500 Trillium bars yesterday).

Can someone confirm that the proc eventually have been changed from up to 5x to a max of 2x?

As of WoD you don't have to create the Living Steel by your own. Just took 4 of them out of our guild bank. The quest wasn't marked as completed in my quest log, but I still was able to turn it in.

Transmuted x100 奥金锭, i got in total 120 Arcanite Bars, so aprox 20% extra's generated by 转化大师, my luck on proccs werent the greatest either, so likely more on average, but atleast 20%

Today in Legion, sure you get the quest in Old Dalaran, but if you are Horde and you check your turn in location you get Darnassus. Stupid weird.

FOR HORDE - I picked this quest up in Silvermoon City from the alchemy trainer once my alchemy was 475 and I bought 4 Living Steel off the Auction House, it completed the quest and I turned it back in at the same location I picked it up at in Silvermoon City. On another toon I picked it up in Orgrimmar from the trainer there and turned it in at the same place, I haven't tried in new Dalaran since my toons weren't that high lvl yet. Good luck, hope this helps someone.

Has anyone figured out the requirements to start this quest after the changes to professions with 8.0?

With 8.0 Alchemy was split into different expansions.
I tried a few things trying to get this quest to pop up. Firstly I maxed Pandaria Alchemy, then I reached 475 skill points between all schools of Alchemy.
The thing that finally made this quest pop up was reaching 300 skill in Vanilla Alchemy.
Unsure if this is the only pre-requisite but it popped up the moment I hit 300 Alchemy.

With 8.0.1 you need 300/300 in classic-alchemy to unlock the quest. Remember it's a low level quest, display them!

As of the current patch where professions got split into separate expansions, Potion master, Transmutation master, and Elixir master are all available once you reach 300 in "vanilla" alchemy even though these quests normally were offered in burning crusade.

To change your Alchemy specialization (e.g., from Elixir or Potions to Transmutation), open the professions window and click the small red circle to the left of the specialization (NOT the profession skill level). Then do the applicable quest for the specialization you want.
