You give them 2 copper, they get mad, so you kill them. Then when you loot their body, the 2 copper is gone, what the heck. I want my copper back blizzard.

In case it wasn't obvious, this quest can be done by any Alliance race, not just worgen as Wowhead indicates.

The "clues", just for the sake of information, are as follows:

#1:

Listen, pal. I don't want any trouble, ok? I didn't see who murdered 'em, but I sure heard it! Lots of yelling. Human voices... you dig? Now get out of here before I change my mind about beating you up and takin' your shoes.

#2:

I didn't see who killed 'm, bub/sis, but I got a whiff. Smelled rich, kinda like you. Damn shame too. Furlbrows were a fixture around here. Nice people, always willin' to share a meal or a patch of dirt.

#3:

Who killed the Furlbrows? I'll tell you who killed the Furlbrows: KING VARIAN WRYNN. THAT'S WHO! And he's killin' the rest of us too. One bum at a time. The only thing I can tell you is that I saw some gnolls leavin' the place a few hours before the law arrived.

#4:

Between you, me, and the tree, murlocs killed the Furlbrows. Yep, saw 'em with my own two eyes. Think they'd been casin' the joint for days, maybe months. They left in a hurry once they got wind of "Johnny Law" and the idiot brigade over there...

They also ramble quite humorously every now and then:

I wonder if it's possible to eat rocks? Got plenty of rocks around here. Just imagine it! I'd be the richest person in the world for making that discovery!

Looks like I found us a savory and clean piece of dirt! Tonight we eat like kings, Mr. Penguin! Of course I'll share it with you! You're my best friend!

you talk to the human npc's walking around the field closest to questgiver. offer them 2 copper for information. sometimes they will get angry and attack.

The crime scene is hilarious. I love their parody of the detective.

Anyone else feel bummed out that you end up killing a bunch of poor homeless people for not very good reasons? This quest did not make me feel very heroic.

So, the Lieutenant is a bunghole. He's groaning about a murder case, when, hello, if you don't like your job, get one as a cook to feed the homeless and starving. Maybe then someone won't be killed. And neither will their horse. Poor Old Blanchy...at least they didn't strip him of his meat.

Oh, right, and the whole "horseicide"? The crap is that? A pesticide for horseflies?

The Lieutenant would hate to bother finding out who did this since it's such an inconvenience, so he's sending you to speak to homeless people.

In all actuality, I can see where he's coming from. I mean, the homeless smell, their clothes are all gritty, they've got bad breath from eating...let's not go there, and one of them talks to a penguin which is his best friend. Did I mention the Ragmuffins that steal from the pockets of someone you kill? Yeah...they're promoting murder at this point...

Question the homeless people, some will give information, some will fight you. After you're done with the four clues, head to the bunghole in question.

Saw this quest and immediately reminded me of Snoop Doggs song "Murder was the Case", he says the exact line of the title of the quest throughout the song.

You can do this quest without killing them. I had a level 35 pacifist character just run off if they aggroed. Since his threat was low, they stopped pursuing. Eventually, he got his answers and got his little cape.

During the Valentine's/Darkmoon/Lunar New Year events of 2012, I took my lower level pacifist characters, gamed the health buff from blowing a /kiss at Peddlefeet (you can stack it 6 times), threw off some rockets, and took my 'toons to Westfall so they could get their little cape too.

I managed to consistently kite these NPCs all the way to the Darkmoon gate. I did not experiment with longer distances because I don't want deaths on these cartoons' stats, btw.

I may try this on a low level Draenei pally tank character with the herbalism buff and potions just to see if I can kite them into Stormwind or Redridge. I'd love to see what other people have to say - if they can kite these guys all over the place. It was pretty funny.

Well, fer cryin' out loud . . !

Honestly, I never thought about doing that, and now I feel embarrassed, since I was having to kill a couple of them while playing a lawful-good paladin at the time. I kept thinking, "I'm baaaaaaaaaad! And in the baaaaaaaad meaning of the word!"

As of patch 7.1.5 the questgiver for this quest - 霍拉提奥·莱茵中尉 -
is sometimes not visible after entering westfall.
You have to logout / login near the wagon to make Horatio appear
to grab the quest.

更糟的是，我们这是在西部荒野。我闭着眼睛扔颗石子都能砸到一打想要干掉他们（还有马）、动机充分的流浪汉。

我不知道是谁干的，而且我确信来这鬼地方调查几个钉子户的凶杀案不是什么肥差，但要是找不到案犯我就得下课。你想帮忙吗？去找那些无家可归的……盲流谈谈，他们什么都知道。
