Ahune will be an event boss, alike with Headless Horseman during the Halloween event.
This quest and boss will most likely only be available during the Midsummer Event.
Ahune has a loot table of four confirmed epic items, including:

Frostscytche of Lord Ahune - A caster stave
The Frostlord's War Cloak - A melee dps cloak
Icebound Cloak - A tanker cloak
Shroud of Winter's Chill - a Caster cloak

Alike with Headless Horseman, the boss can be summoned daily.
Ahune will be located in Coilfang Reservoir.

Ahune will have two phases on combat ( Taken from: MMO-Champion.com )

Phase 1 - The boss spawns two types of adds and you can't really damage him, just take care of the adds and after a minute, Ahune will go into phase 2.

Phase 2 - Ahune submerges (ragnaros-style) and its Frozen Core will spawn, that's when you attack him ! After some time Ahune will emerge and you'll have to fight adds for one more minute, etc ...

The Frostlord's War Cloak is Reskinned Blood Knight War Cloak: despite it saying it's for a melee class its good for hunter's as well.

Save the 25 badges which you thinking of using on the Blood Knight and get the Frost Lord during the festival!

Can i complete this quest in Heroic Mode or only in Normal one?

Tip: Don't go in trying to solo this on your own- starting the event by touching the large crystal- all you will gain is loosing your chance to summon him again for the whole day.

This quest does not directly by itself lead to the quest to summon Ahune. There must be a hidden prereq.

Need to complete a chain of three quests which starts with Unusual Activity, then opening up this quest.

Only three drops are known from Ahune:

There should be one more, Wowhead doesn't know about it yet though.

The followups inside SP cannot be completed on Heroic.

Get the Unusual Activity quest from any capital city midsummer reveler.

Head to Zoram Strand.

Kill the lvl 21 mobs, got the drop on 2nd kill.

Summon spirit wolf, talk to him. Head NW to far NW shore of Ashenvale, loc 9.12-ish.

Listen to the NPCs.

Call the spirit wolf back, get quest to return to any Midsummer reveler guy.

Get followup daily and quest to talk to NPC right inside entrance to SP.

STUCK..

UNSTUCK. Gotta get the next quest on Normal mode from the chick right inside the instance. Also must be completed on Normal. Meh.

Go kill boss.

Once you've gotten the final quest to summon him, from the 2nd new NPC inside SP, then you can go outside the instance, reset it to heroic, go back in, clear to the place, right-click on the big crystal that no longer has a question mark on it, and summon the boss on heroic difficulty.

It appears that summoning mechanincs are different on heroic mode compared to normal, probably due to the fact that on heroic he drops a badge of justice so they ( blizzard ) want you to be able able to kill him only once a day.
We just killed him on heroic, loot was a badge, deathfrost formula, an epic neck ( it seems he drops cloaks on normal and necks on heroic ), the quest item to get tabards of summer.

Full guide of "How to"

-First. Go to any major city(Exodar, Darnassus, Thunder Bluff, Silvermoon City, Ironforge, Orgrimmar, Undercity or Stormwind) talk to "Earthen Ring Elder" <Earthen Ring> and pick up the quest that takes you to Ashenvale(just outside Blackfathom Depths)
-Go to the camp with alot of Twilight people, kill people there untill you get a letter, use a quest item(A totem of some sort), which is provided in this quest, near one of the bonfires and summon your Shaman. Speak to him to get the next part of the quest.
-Head abit north, to the western "cap" that peaks out to the water, into a new twilight camp, use the disguises you now got in your bag, and turn into a crab, wait near some friendly NPC(They are hostile without the disguises) untill your quest is complete(hope no other player is killing the npc's) and go to nearest bonfire, summon the shaman, deliver in.
-Head back to the guy you started this chain at, and you will now get the FUN quest. Which is one daily quests, including killing a guy near the Dark Portal, (which I'm not going further in at) and a quest that takes you to Slave Pens.
-Find a proper 5 man group, go into slave pens, deliver the quest at the lady you will see with some totems. Kill some packs of mobs into the next room and next NPC.
-ALL PARTY members go deliver, and when ready, one guy alone, will go to the ice shard, and deliver in, makes you summon the boss, abit further in, about the place where you normally would kill the "crab" looking guys, so remember to clear abit first.

-THE BOSS FIGHT-
-PHASE 1- The boss at first will have a armor that you can't remove, that reduces damage by 90% or something like that, now you should focus on adds. All rangers, and the tank, should kill the big "ice elemental" that has a model like a earth elemental, which meleers kill the smaller water elementals. (the big guy gives a debuff to nearby players that takes 300damage per third second, and stacks untill he's dead) This phase last for about a minute.
-PHASE 2- Now all remaining adds should be down, and the healer can get his mana back up, you won't leave combat, but all that is left of the boss now, is "Frozen Core" which doesn't do any damage, but you are now free to damage without any reduction.

These two Phases repeats untill the boss is down, if you are good, you can take him down on two "rounds of phases" a decent group should on 3, and if you use 4, you should be out of mana.

The boss is now down, and you will loot a chest that spawns in front of him, it gives the epic loot(caster staff, healing cloak, tanking cloak or melee cloak) along with a shard, that gives a quest, you accept this quest, turn it in to the lady not far from you, and get a tabard(you can choose between red or blue).

If there is several people in your party the long chain quest, they can also summon the boss, and you can kill him as man times as you want to, without resetting the instance.

I have confirmed these WILL drop on normal, also the scythe and enchant can drop ALONG with a cloak.

The wowhead guide says 65, but I've also heard 70.

Druid/Warrior tank.
Holy Paladin healer (Improved Righteous Fury is a plus)
3 DPS with AoE capabilities

Phase 1:
Have the tank tank the big mobs and have the paladin stand fairly close to Ahune with consecrate. The paladin will take aggro on the small mobs from his healing, making it an easy job for the dps to just AoE them down as they're gathered up.

Phase 2:
Nuke, nuke nuke. No one is going to take any damage here, so the paladin should heal up the party and then judge wisdom on the frost core and then start bashing it with seal of wisdom to replenish as much mana as possible for when phase 1 starts again.

Oh, and move away from the small blueish circles that spaws on the ground. They spawn ice pillars that throw you up in the air. If you should get thrown into the water you'll be teleported to Ahune.

Is it possible to take 4 over-geared members in with a 5th being under level 65 and still be able to loot the chest?

That would make an easy way to get some free purples for someone not level 65

Ranged DPS is great for the fight, as the biggest issue is the anti-melee add, which has an aura that adds a stacking DoT to anyone in melee range, which can be removed through divine shield, cloak of shadows, and similar moves.
Warlocks would be good to have, paired with a Tankadin, who could tank the anti-melee near the other adds. Just SoC the anti-melee, and let it take out the smaller adds with a bit of help.
Also, placing Curse of Doom on Ahune about 40secs into phase one each time will help in killing him more quickly.
You can treat this fight somewhat similar to Curator from Kara, as its really nothing more than managing adds in time for the small window of time where burst damage is needed and abilities such as heroism/bloodlust and avenging wrath, as well as trinkets, help greatly.

He isnt lootable persay, but he spawns a chest like the Nazen fight in Hellfire ramparts. the chest contains cloaks equivalent to badge gear from geras in normal, and neck items in heroics.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've read and heard that Phase one lasts about 90 seconds, with Phase two lasting only 30 and also summons more adds with each time he returns to phase one as well.

After trying this quest, it's seems best to have a fire mage, pally tank, druid/priest healer (HOTS) and maybe even a shammy and one other AoE dps and the tank must have good gear. His main add (a frost rock elemental) will hit for about 800+ normal hits and 1800+ crits. The shards will hit someone without frost resistance for at least 2k, so it's advisable to have some frost aura and resistance. Again there are water elementals so frost attacks do nothing and a stone frost element that his like a truck and a clothie will be pwned. Down the water elementals fast then pummel the stone elemental, the tank won't be doing enough dmg to take him down quick enough alone. If not, you won't get past the first mob.

A quick tip for Warlocks...

If you can get your tank to keep Hailstone between Ahune and the Healer (who will quickly pull agro from the adds due to healing), you can spam your Seed of Corruption quite fast. Since Hailstone is taking lots of damage anyways, the Seed pops fast, killing all the adds with next to no help from anyone else.

What I usually do is place myself between the healer and Hailstone and spam Seed as fast as I can. When Im half way thru my cast, the seed pops.

Just done this 5 man nuke.
I was DK in frost to take the "beating" that adds gave, deathstriking ahune in P1 for heals, and we just dpsed through the damage reduction.

Scorchling dropped and i won it too. yaay

unless you're going for Ahune's pet, or the Scythe for RP purposes or something...

just do the boss encounter once, nab the achievement, nab the tabard from the quick shard quest and dont bother wasting your time for multiple attempts.

Ahune still drops lvl 70 epic cloaks, and if you're lvl 80 theres no use for them

the drop rate for the pet from Ahune is like the drop rate of the Polar Bear mount from the Storm Peaks dailies and the Hallows End mount I belive they all sit around a 0.01% drop rate...Gotta love Blizzard

Any DK's planning to go in and solo this guy beware that him and the majority of his adds are immune to Frost spells. You can only summon him once per day too.

The following can be found in the Satchel of Chilled Goods found in the chest after killing Lord Ahune for the first time in a day:
1. Two Frost Tokens (Always)
2. Frostscythe of Lord Ahune
3. Frigid Frostling (taught by Ice Chip)

Lord Ahune drops the following ilvl 232 Cloaks:
1. Icebound Cloak - Tanking Cloak with Defense and Dodge
2. Shroud of Winter's Chill - Caster Cloak with Haste and Crit
3. The Frost Lord's Battle Shroud - Plate Melee DPS Cloak with Expertise and Crit
4. The Frost Lord's War Cloak - Leather Melee DPS Cloak with Haste, Crit and Attack Power
5. Cloak of the Frigid Winds - Caster Cloak with Haste and Spirit

Lord Ahune drops Shards of Ahune. This starts a quest that you can hand in to the NPC Luma Skymother

Quests:
1. Unusual Activity - Kill Twilight Hammer's members in the Zoram Strand in Ashenvale until Twilight Correspondence
2. An Innocent Disguise - Use the Orb of the Crawler, follow the blue torches north to (9,12)
3. Inform the Elder - Travel to a capital city and speak to the Earthen Ring Elder.
4. Ahune, the Frost Lord - Turn in at Luma Skymother.
5. Ahune is Here! - Turn in at Luma Skymother.
6. Summon Ahune - Turn in at Luma Skymother.

To summon Lord Ahune, click on the stalagmite coming out of the ice to the left as you enter the Slave Pens.

This is no longer available to characters at level 65 as they buffed the boss to level 80 and the quest rewards to ilevel 232.

Since it was available at level 65 before, it may be available to level 75 characters now.

I don't know about anyone else but this quest is not being offered to me by any of the Earthen Ring Elders anywhere and I'm currently level 80. I've also completed Inform the Elder so that has nothing to do with it either. It appears this has been removed from the game now that you can queue for the fight via the Dungeon Finder. Can anyone confirm picking up this quest this year?

The 2013 loot table for Frost Lord Ahune contains 5 different cloaks, a weapon enchanting recipe, a 2h staff, and a pet:

I am confused. One can see that you may queue for the Frost Lord Ahune, but we may not actually participate? Why is this? I am level 70, and I feel that if it appears, we should be able to do it. When can we actually slay him?
