Don't forget to pick up the Gatekeeper's Key in the lantern outside the entrance to Talon Den. You need it to get the other keys inside.

If you're doing this quest, you might as well pick up Horde Presence (http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=3514) by killing the Alliance Outriders in the Barrens as well. You'll complete it on the way in.

Easy quest...good tip Ataylor one member forgot to get and we had to head back out when we were half way thru...

The rest of the "Keys" are in the Birdbath looking things everywhere in the path. Then turn in the final at the bottom of the cave on the upwright rock with the blue glow.

This quest would be 10 times easier if you didn't have to run 3 years back on a death. One death and you basically are screwed, so be careful.

Worth mentioning...NOT soloable. These are all elites, and if the rare spawn is there, your looking at 3 elites within 5yds of each other to get the last key. Group recommended.

tried to solo with a 27 lock, got the first key <not the gate keeper one> and got no further, highly reccomend you dont try solo'ing this

Soloed this at lvl 35 feral druid. It's not easy..

Took me a while to find the 3 keys and to find the "3 key socket" thing.

Tactics: If you have "Feral Instinct" under feral talent, Stealth and run through the cave. It's pretty hard to agro the elites when stealthed at lvl 35 ^^

Only attack the mobs which are guarding the keys if possible, some area will have 2 guarding.
At this point, buff up and use Rej -> Bear form and attack untill your half hp.
Heal then back to bear form.
Repeat the process untill you killed them both! same again when there are 3 guards guarding the stone to complete the quest.

Get a group going for it, like maybe 3 people total or something. It's that simple, bcus their elites. Once you finish the quest, you no longer need the Gatekeeper's Key so you can trash that. Get in, get out, and move onto another map area to quest in.

just did this quest and only saw one elite lvl 29 not easy but im a lock so yeah she was easy.... but that was the only one i saw. the cave flows well from key to key and thanks to 2.3 every key has a glittry loot shine to it so you cant miss it.

soloed as lvl 29 lock no big deal.

Solo'd this today as a 31 resto druid. Wasn't easy, but doable with a little luck. Went stealthed kitty and trotted down the tunnel after the entrance. There is an elite 27 at the end of the tunnel, just before the bridge. Pass around her, than trot to the coord's given above.

The hardest part is the sleeper's key, due to the elite 30 guarding it along with two non-elites. I cleared the tunnel towards the key, then hiberated the elite. Went bear and bashed at the two non-elites, until one died. Unfortunately, the elite burned me down, so a little corpse run back. Now there was the one elite and one guard, so I hibernated the elite and bashed at the solo non-elite. Managed to kill it just as the elite awoke, healed up and went bear again, and managed to kill it before it killed me! :D The rest is easy.

The corpse run isn't that bad, maybe the 2.3.0 patch put a new graveyard right behind the Alliance area to the NE. I only saw two elites the whole time.

just did this quest as a lvl 28 feral druid , and the only hard part was the rare elite . as told , he hits for 400-450 with lightning , and having 1084hp is not helpful . i just kept hibernating , FA and used a lesser mana pot. died 2 times before could kill him . with 2.3 there is easy to see where u turn in the quest . the elite at the entrance is fairly easy to kill

I soloed as a lvl 31 frost mage and it was pretty easy.

All you have to do is follow Cyane's instructions and you're good to go.

As a frost mage, when you get to the turn in Hoard, there's 3 dryads surrounding the Hoard. So, what I did was first frost nova, then sheep one so that two would be there. Then I just kinda went down further from them so they wouldn't be able to throw their spears, but still able to do frostbolt. It's pretty much easier that way. Remember to use mana agate, its your friend!

But I was kind of in dire need of health pots and mana pots at that point, so I would say it would be wise to bring some.

As of 2.3, this quest is not specified as a group quest anymore. The normal mobs have been changed to non-elite. It can, however, be still challenging to do this quest alone. There is a weak elite mob guarding the first bridge (Rynthariel the Keymaster, http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=8518). There is also a high chance that a rare elite mob (Nal'taszar, http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=4066) spawns directly next to the last chache. This means there are three mobs right next to it: two non elites, and this level 30 elite. His chain lightning hits very hard, so be careful. As a paladin, I died four times at this spot.

2.3 has definitely been a blessing. I somehow managed to do this solo as a 32-33 holy priest (I actually dinged in the middle of this). Sadly, I also got the rare spawn, as well. Managed to kill that, but died at the adds because my MC went terribly wrong. :( I also had to go back later to put the flag in the keymaster, but lucky for me, it was already dead by someone else's hands. ^^; Got through this whole thing with only one death, solo'd both elites, probably worst spec to do anything solo with.

Though, if you are doing this as a priest, MC is definitely a good thing for you, and helps you get through more stuff more quickly.

I have just done this as a level 31 prot warrior; not especially easy.

The instructions above are spot on except I encountered three elites in here.

The first, Rynthariel the Keymaster, was an easy kill, encountered just before the first bridge.

The second, and sadly I didn't make a note of the name, has not been mentioned in this thread so far. It was a rare elite druid, initially in bear form, in the room directly north of the Barrow key. The room already contains two mobs, and the elite is hiding out of sight. I only discovered him when I charged in and he popped out.. I lived, but only just. He was a level 28 and dropped a BoE green.

The third elite was Nal'taszar, guarding the Sleeper key with two normal mobs. My luck ran out here; I managed to take down the elite and one of the mobs, but the third finished me off. I corpserunned back to get the last key.

Solo'd as a 26 Paladin. Rynthariel the Keymaster was somewhat difficult, as her level meant she resisted most of my spells. However, she runs fairly slowly, so i found a good tactic; DPS her down as much as your mana allows, then run back to the top of the tunnel and heal up - with Blessing of Wisdom on you should have got back about 300 mana during the run up. DPS her until oom again, then run back down the tunnel, rinse and repeat.

The non-elite mobs were all easy enough for me to solo, and i cruised through to the Sleeper key. Took out one of the non-elites and ran, came back, killed the other non-elite and ran again.

Nal'taszar seems pretty much impossible to solo at level 26, so to get the key i made sure the bridge behind was clear, pulled him back there, Hammer of Justice'd him and ran down to loot the key. You should have enough time to loot it easily, especially if Nal stops to cast a spell once he gets back in line of sight.

Solo'd this as a 28 Hunter with the 30 elite guarding the sleeper key. Here is what I did.

1. From outside the sleeper key room, make sure all mobs are freshly cleared back down the path (south across bridge) from where you entered. This will be your escape route and it helps if it's clear.
2. Set pet to passive and set a frost trap to the right of the room out of visible range of the elite.
3. Send pet to get aggro then pull it back. One of the mobs will get trapped. Set the pet to attack a non trapped mob. If you're lucky the elite will trap, I wasn't so lucky but still succeeded.
4. Run in, grab the key, then run back down your escape route. Your pet should die and you should get 'Leaving Combat' message before running into any mobs. Revive pet and head back for the turn in!

Not solo-able as a lvl 28 Warrior.

They either need to make this a group quest again, or take out the elites and rare spawns.

one of the keys has 2 normal mobs, easy to kill. But the lvl 30 rare spawn that is there also, i can not even get to 50% health before the three shots me.
So this quest for me, is not worth the trouble.

If you're a rouge, than this quest can be solo'd easily! Sap will get you all the way to Sleepers key. Here comes the good part:
- Kill all horses outside the room.

And when you are stealthed inside the rom:
- Sap one horse and kill the other horse. Remember to kick the parrot when he is about to cast his spells during the fight. Then vanish.
- Go back in and sap the last horse, cheap shot the parrot and run out of the room. Wait for the parrot to come out, gauge him and run back in the room. If you were quick enough you should have over 10 secounds to open the lamp. And once again, vanish.

This quest is an utter pain for mediocre rewards.How stupid is it for a level 30 Rare Elite that will kill you easily to be in a quest that is most likely done by high 20's?

You other classes with ways to deal with obnoxious whatevers (CC,various fears,hibernate ect.) can say "Oh I solo'ed it easy!".That does diddly for the others.

Anyone want some real advice for this quest?Skip it.You get a crappy green for dying (a lot if the "rare" spawn is there,which it almost always is).No faction rep,and 2350 experience is negligible at that level.

Grind on humanoids at or slightly above your level for 20 minutes.You'll get cloth,probably a few greens and the same xp.Sell the cloth and greens at the AH.You'll have gold in your pocket for the same amount of time spent on this ridiculous quest!

I completely agree with the above post. The amount of clearing you have to do to make your way through that cave outweighs the rewards--it takes forever. Solo-able or not, it's absolutely not worth the time for the XP and mediocre rewards. If you're having fun leveling slowly and seeing all the content, go for it, but, if leveling is your goal, skip this quest.

Personally, and in my opinion, this is one of the most painful quests in the game. I did this quest as a level 27 feral druid. The regular mobs were super easy kills. The annoying part was the two elites within the cave. First, a 29 elite before you get to any of the caches. I managed to kill her by putting bleeds on and switching to bear form. Demoralizing Roar, stun, healed myself with Regrowth and Rejuv. Further in, I had to use my tauren racial war stomp to give me time to heal again. Moreover, the rare elite spawn by the third cache was orange to me (30 elite rare), so I had to call in a little back up because a 30 elite plus two 27 regular mobs cannot be solo'd. At least by me. </Nerd Rage>.

Edit: Bring some friends. Definitely.

Soloed as a 28 Rogue in good gear. Found this pretty easy - just stealthed up to where the items were and then killed the 2-3 that were at each point.

Did as a lvl 28 rogue, stealthed through some, killed some mobs. At the part with the rare + 2 Keepers I ran in, killed one keeper, vanished. Went back in sapped keeper and killed the rare.

With 26 LvL Shaman I Put Down One Stoneclaw Totem And Get The Other Keys Then The Elite Monster Kill Me But I Finished My Quest! I Did The Same Thing When I Finishing It!It is very Easy!

Talk about annoying quest.

Druids appear to be very resistant towards nature spells, taking 50% less damage and resist most of the spells. Particularly annoying when you want to interrut their Wrath spell with Earth Shock as a shaman.
Whole Talon Den is swarming with mobs. Get ready to fight against 2 or 3 at a time if you are not careful; there are patrolling dryads and all the mobs run at low health, and the dryads even use slow poison which makes catching them way harder
I saw few rare spawns while being there, and I was not happy. First one, Faerie Dragon, was in which had one of they keys in it, and he had 2 mobs with him aswell. And in another room, I charged to kill 2 dryads, but there appeared to also be a level 27 elite druid-bear guy lurking behind the corner, but I managed to survive with Stoneclaw + Run combo.

Be careful while doing this.

Okay being a 27 and most of these mobs my level or lower. I have never had any mobs resist my spell more then the mobs in this cave. I HATE THIS PLACE!
