Interesting! These are tamable Hunter pets, but they appear not to be actual spiders, or even organic! From the model, they appear to have six appendages and be made of stone or some such.
P.S. For those of you who are seeing the 1485% that I am, I've checked other sources on that, and most of them seems to say 5% is the Shale Spider exotic.
Other sources? Like common sense? :p
Its equivelant with kings/MotW, and I assume a second ability will be put in soon enough.
These spiders rock!
The exotic ability makes this guy strictly better than any of the other pets with a raid buff, though being Tenacity instead of Ferocious like the Cat and Wolf means he fits a different role entirely. Still, probably the best exotic ability I've seen, and I'm assuming the actual model looks cool.
lol in my opinion, it looks more like a stone crab or something
Taken from the 4.0.6 patch notes.
Shale Spiders now correctly have a special ability (Web Wrap).
Finaly there getting there ability.
So we can tame these, but not the rock worm things?
I'm glad to see we beast masters got a cool and useful pet that doesnt take half our screen.
These guys make the cutest (or most annoying) squeaks when they attack something. It's what sold me on one.
i can't tame thepet i am level 83 how is that do u have to be beastmaster to be abel to tame this pet ?
Both my Troll and Forsaken BM hunters tamed this creature at the first chance.
This is an outstanding pet, for many reasons:
1) Unusual looking and eye-catching
2) Gives you and all on your party a (mark of the wild type) stats buff. Even buffs itself.
3) With charge, web wrap, and thunderstomp, is superior for controlling your foes and holding aggro.
4) Is a nice compact size: won't block your targeting, or be annoying in town.
Every BM hunter should get one! But don't name yours Rocky, LOL, that's taken.
Nice spider. I use it in Battleground. Thunderclap and web must be a really pestilens for the enemy. I use it for normal questing. Keeps good aggro.
These make very effective tanks. As they're tenacity, with the stun -AND- the buff (Boosting their own hp by 5%) means they can easily tank a group of 1-8 mobs aslong as you keep using Misdirect on it.
I find these to be adorable.
I'm weird. v_v
I have found this little fella to be one of the best pet tanks in the game - I can get him to tank plenty of mobs with no hassle and he eats larger mobs like Problim and Tank in TB with no problems at all. With web wrap, thunderstomp and charge, as well as the stun from intimidate, mobs never get near me and he generates a large amount of threat and has excellent armour as you would expect from a tenacity pet. In addition he also has embrace of the shale spider which is the same buff as mark of the wild from a druid or blessing of kings from a paladin and although this doesn't stack with those two buffs, it does spread across your entire party.
He is definitely my most used pet, despite the squeak which can become annoying at times, especially if I have a headache. He's cute, discreet and above all excellent at what I need him to do. He has tanked CoC and at some point I'm going to persuade my guild to take me into Blackrock Caverns to see if I can solo the first boss as I think this guy has it in him to do so.
It's this kind of pet that make BM hunters heroes :)
And, mine (Detritus) is purple but I love the yellow one too :)
I think the purple one looks the best out of all of them.
Apprently the Lv1 Critters are Tamable. If this is true, a hunter could have this as his/her pet at Lv10.
The description at the top of the page is easy to miss, but towards the bottom of the paragraph it explains that there is an exotic, rare shale spider named
I love my shale spider! I raised him from a
I just noticed something that may be of interest, this pet "double dips" on the resists from its own
buff, giving it (97x2) + 85 (passive) =
resistance to all schools at max level.
I imagine this could come in handy soloing some old bosses. Additionally, being greater than the standard ~195 spell penetration may result in these little guys being a little harder to CC in pvp.
Edit: Out of date since 5.0 removal of resistance from the buff
Long live the Shale Spider. Now if it could come in blue. Very useful in fights where your tank forgets that they are tanking.
Awesome pet! Now you don't need druids on a raid, or paladins Kingz, I think is the best tenacity pet ever
hey friennds can u tell me where i can find whis pet?
It says "tameable at level 69", but then all the spiders shown are in deepholm and level 82+. Any tips why, or should that level be edited up? Or is that the min level for the BM exotic talent?
As a hunter planning to PvP in Beast Mastery spec, I think that the best choice of pet is between this and a
. This has a very nice
ranged stun ability
, taking the place of scatter shot if it's on cooldown or the enemy is a caster who's out of range. That ability has a farther range than Scatter, which is a bonus. Also,
is a very nice ability, especially for if you die and there's no druid/pally to give you the buff. As a bonus, they also have all of the
So far the best PvP pet for BM hunters in 5.2 patch!
Kinda unfair that these are tamable yet the Rock worms are not... : /
Worth noting that shale spiders are the only pet to provide the mainstat buff, so every BM hunter should have one in case the group is missing it.
i really love this spider it's one of the best
the best pet ever
Just to be clear, you can now tame exotics at level 10 as of 6.2. There are shale spiders in Blackfthom Deeps that are tameable at level 23.
