This is quite the nerf from
on live. Really not happy about this change. Going to have to find a new elemental for my team. Dangit.
Not at all! I think this is great: each turn it's used, you get the same damage reduction as
with the only drawback being that it causes damage at the same time (darn it all to hell). For me, this spell offers me a pet that can be as nice of a tank as my Strand Crawler with less of a hassle in terms of bothering with a coordination of cooldowns and durations.
heals for more than
and lasts longer without needing to be refreshed, plus Sunlight damages a bit. Pop sun, then synth, then spam this spell until it's over for the same effects as Shell Shield. Also, if the user is quicker than the opponent, you can use Iron Bark for every other attack as the buff will take affect before you get attacked and will last through the next turn, allowing you to refresh Photosynthesis and Sunlight without worrying about extra damage. Also, the defense buff is ALWAYS applied, even if the ability misses, or is dodged (at least through abilities like fly and dig).
Overall, sure, it's a little bit of a nerf (maybe), but I don't think I'd consider it to be a deal breaker for a tankemental.
