Notice that, if the pet using this ability remains in the cocoon at the end of the turn, the pet's speed will reduce to 0 for the next turn. This can be effective to make its effect useful, since flying pets usually have a high speed stat thus are more likely to move first.
Also, upon performing next attack, the pet break the cocoon itself, in case it is not hit in this turn. This happens when opponent is consecutively performing healing abilities, or multi-turn attacks.
goes through the Silk Cocoon - presumably because it does no damage - giving the beast something useful to do that round.
For people trying to catch moths, I can confirm that a moth can be caught even when protected by this barrier. For a long time I thought it prevented capture because my traps would miss when the silk web was up however I just caught one on the move that it assembled its silk cocoon.
Seems like this may have been changed recently. The cocoon itself now lasts only one round. I can't find any patch notes mentioning the change.
i've been noticing this for a couple of years now, and no one's mentioned it before. frequently when i use this ability or similar abilities it will lag the match, doesn't break the match or the game or anything, but still rather annoying when you're on a battle bender and this keeps slowing you down.
