just received bonkers from this
Located in Kukuru's Grotto. Must be opened with a
Kukuru's Cache Key
which cost 500
each. Mainly aimed at a quick upgrade for low geared alts as you can see by the loot table the ilvl of all gear is 496.
This is a bit of a gamble. It requires
which is sold for 500x
in the cave located in the Red Stone Run area. With the keys you can open his chests around him. You'll get
(I've seen it documented anywhere from 1 to 10,000) most of the time but there's also a chance to win any
or other Timeless Isle related stuff aswell.
So i went there and spent all my coins on keys... good thing i went on an alt or i would be totally timeless-broke right now xD
just lootet 750 timeless coins in one chest
As of 9-12-13 the drop rate on eternals was nerfed. there was any more details than that from blizzard.
Not sure if it was just incredible luck, but from ONE chest, I received 10,000 Timeless Coins. And thus far I also have 7 Bonkers. Either the drop rate of Bonkers needs to be nerfed, or we should be able to cage him.
I have cleared this entire room of chests (can't make an accurate count, but have counted 37 and 38 individual chests) four times. Some of the chests have included an armor piece (sadly, some where mail, and I don't have a mail wearer on this server) most had coins (some only had ONE timeless coin! >.<) and one had Bonkers. Not a single Burden of Eternity. I have heard that as of a couple days ago (Sep 13, 2003, Friday the 13th, lol) Blizzard nerfed the drop rate for the Burdens of Eternity. Seems they nerfed it too much.
Patch 5.4 Hotfixes: September 12
Reduced the chance for Burden of Eternity to drop from Kukuru's Caches.
I have collected enough coins now to do a decent post nerf sampling. I spent 102k coins on September 17th reinvesting any coins into more keys as before and found the following:
564 Timeless Chests looted
69 (12.23%) Timeless gear tokens
(34k avg coin investment)
Note: I also spent ~33k coins around the time of the hotfix and got no burdens but 2x bonkers at that time. If it was post nerf then that would raise my average coin investment per burden up to 45k coins. It is still very unclear whether it is worth gambling for burdens or not, but as long as it stays under 50k investment per burden then it is worth it to get all the extra gear tokens and bonkers if you don't have 3x already if you don't mind gambling.
With the PTR ending I found myself with tons of coins and not much to do with them so I decided to research
which open various Timeless Chests around him.
Starting with 163500 coins and reinvesting any coins looted from the chests into more keys I found out the follow:
935 Timeless Chests looted
(12576 avg coin investment)
87 (9.30%) Timeless gear tokens
823 (88.02%) refunded
Chests usually give 50-1000 coins but has rare chance of 1 coin (~1%) and even rarer chance of 10,000 coins (0.1%?). They always have only one thing in them, either one piece of loot or coins.
72.66% avg coin refund if you were to get no other type of loot
63.96% avg coin refund factoring in other loot
Buying keys to open chests results in ~4x as many
than buying them for 50k coins from
Opened 71 chests before getting Bonkers. 14 had loot and 57 had coins. Average coin return was 390. Data:
Opened 26 chests, found 1 burden, no bonkers 3 pieces of loot and lost about 4000 coins ( actually about 46k profit considering the burden :P)
Just to add my 2 cents
Just invested 48k coins and reinvested all received back in and got the following
2 bonkers (which I already had 2 of so a waste of 1)
21 Timeless pieces
0 Burdens of Eternity
Considering I was 2k away from being able to buy a burden, I just wanted to highlight that using this method is, of course, a risk and you may walk away with nothing.
I have also opened a chest with 10k coins in it before. But only on one toon. It was like hitting the jackpot, however I spent them all on nothing. No trinkets, no burdens of eternity.
I calculated that phuzi0n's total number of coins spent (including the ones they respent) was about 282000. This means on average they got back about 319 timeless coins (on average) per chest looted (including the ones that awarded timeless gear, bonkers, etc.). So if we take that then we can see that the actual cost per chest was more like 181 timeless coins. So this is the number that we should calculate the rest with.
If the odds of getting a piece of timeless gear is aprox. 12% (according to phuzi0n's results), that means that you will receive a piece of timeless gear for every 8.33 chests, which would be about 1508 timeless coins per piece of timeless gear obtained. A MUCH better deal than the timeless caches (which are 7500 each). But you don't know what type of armor you will get; cloth, leather, mail or plate.
There are 8 pieces per armor type, with 4 pieces that fit them all (the ring, neck, trinket and cloak). This means that there is a 33% chance of the gear you get being able to be used by any given class (not counting duplicates). This brings the total cost (on average that is) of a single piece of timeless gear for a specific class to be aprox. 4524 timeless coins. Still quite a bit better deal than the timeless caches. But once again, this is an average based upon phuzi0n's results, so you probably will not get the exact same results.
Started with 72,000 coins.
Bought a total of 371 keys (bought more after every chest with the coins from the chest until I couldn't buy anymore keys).
4x Burdens of Eternity
49x Timeless BoA
New chest spotted with 6.0.2 out that I swear I've never seen before. Sent in a screenshot to show it.
