The chest is found in the minigame when you are thrown in the air and have to float around to platforms. To start the minigame, go to the Gleaming Crane Statue at 57, 61 and click on it.
How to find this chest without coords - Go by The Blazing Way until you are in the last curve after 3rd bridge(on the map below caves, to the east of Mossgreen Lake) and there is clicklable statue(crane i guess), that will blow you into sky and give you wings. You will see plenty of chest on little flying clouds, where you can land and loot.
You can loot more than 1, if you are able to land on more clouds.(wings disappear after 30sec or so)
You can't use the statue more than once, it disappears.
This is where the fun and games come in! You need to get the other "puzzle" chests first in order to open this "game". The other chests will be shown as icons on your mini map.
Gleaming Treasure Chest
Start at 51, 73 and jump from pillar to pillar. If you suck at jumping, try riding a friend like a druid or obsidian nightwing or having a priest
leap of faith
Rope Bound Treasure Chest
Fun! Walk across the ropes! If you're good, you can run but I found walking to be the easiest. Start at 60, 45 and just walk across the rope. I turned my camera stright down. When you come to another rope under you, drop down onto it and go to the right. Next rope, drop down and go left. Then drop onto the pillar with the chest.
Mist-Covered Treasure Chest
Once you've done both of those you can go to the
Gleaming Crane Statue
at 58,60 to click it and fly! The chests are on little discs floating in the air, circle around until you land on one and loot it. I've managed to get 4 chests in one trip. Speed effects do work while in the air. Once your buff drops the discs disappear and you lose your wings but you get a lingering buff that prevents falling damage.
You earn the achievement
Extreme Treasure Hunter
once you loot your first
Mist-Covered Treasure Chest
up in the air.
The treasure on the pirate ship is fun but it is not require to activate the crane statue or for the achievement. Oh yes, BEFORE looting any mist covered chests in the air, feel free to fly around! I was able to fly over to the little plateaus in the area to loot eggs and Ordo supply boves! The crane statue remains active until you loot a chest. I would hazard a guess these are a weekly respawn as it is not daily.
This is the related tracking quest:
Feather Fall Tracking Quest
(this tracks looting a chest while flying, not clicking on the statue)
You have to do these 3 chests in order, as Voxxel said in the thread about Extreme Treasure Hunter.
"As Lilene pointed out below you have to do these chests in order, because the Gleaming Crane Statue is inactive until you loot Rope-bound chest which is invisible until you loot Gleaming Chest. So the order to open these chests is:
1.Gleaming Treasure Chest
2.Rope-Bound Treasure Chest
3.Mist-Covered Treasure Chest"
This is one of six chests on the
that you can loot weekly:
To check which of the six you have looted this week, paste the following into a chat window:
/run local function z(n,i)print(format('%s: %s',n,IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(i)and'\124cff00ff00Yes\124r'or'\124cffff0000No\124r'))end z('Gleaming',32969);z('RopeBound',32968);z('MistCovered',32971);z('Satchel',32970);z('Jetsam',32956);z('Sunken',32957);
Interesting. While floating by the mist-covered chest, I clicked like mad on it even though I couldnt reach it. Got the achievement anyways.
Given only 60 seconds to loot, the max number of chests one can reach seems to be 4. The platforms carrying the chests appear to be grouped into 4 vertical tiers. Within the tiers the platforms vary slightly in altitude. This suggests that if rocket boots were used (untested), you could loot two chests in the same tier raising the above mentioned max to 5. However, a lot of time is eaten while flying between platforms so the buff will likely fall off before more than 4 chests can be looted.
