This chest is on a pillar under the broken bridge. The first pillar is next to one of the bridges. Just look for the ropes.
The trick to this chest is to take it slow. Walk the whole way. I angled my camera so I was looking straight at the ground and used my mouse to aim where I stepped. When I came to another rope I stopped and turned myself so that I could walk right off and keep going forward. Had one close call, but as clumsy as I am in game (and, let me be honest, in real life as well), if I can do it, so can you. :) Good luck.
Jumping from 1 robe to another robe is not the problem. Jumping on the last platform from the robe is. If you don't forget to walk instead to run .. we always run, we forget how to walk :D
And it has a cooldown, so if it is not there, just wait.
I have found it helps to mount a big mount such as the mammoth or expedition yak right when jumping by simply just dropping myself, while walking and positioning myself to jump without a mount.
Also I turn on slow walk( bound to / on the numpad by default) and panning my camera with my mouse to directly above my character. There are two rope jumps to make, plus the final one to the top of the pillar.
I also made a fancy image in mspaint showing where to go.
Edit: I've found a quicker way by jumping down from the ordos side and landing on the gray pillar below. You'll have to walk a shorter distance on ropes that way. It might be riskier as you might not land where you're supposed to, but I'm going down anyways after having killed ordos weekly so it's worth trying. And with practice it gets much easier.
I can't make that jump to the bottom rope to save my life-erh, bad choice of words there, hehe, since I keep falling to my demise!:p Do you need to be directly above the rope you're trying to get to or jump from a bit to the left/right?
One must loot the
before this chest becomes visible.
I spent a fair amount of time waiting for it to appear; once I gave up and went for the Gleaming, the Rope chest was waiting for me upon my return.
A recent change made all three items visible regardless of whether one has already looted any of the others or not.
I see a lot of people having trouble dropping down to the platform. The key is, don't jump, or run or walk off the rope. Just be right over the pillar and jump straight in the air and then WHILE airborne press your left or right strafe button and you'll move a tiny bit to the left or right and fall right next to the rope you were just standing on. Hope this helps.
this was very easy. i died once on my first attempt jumping from rope to rope, but i turned "walk" on and then completed my second try without any problems. upon reaching the pillar with chest, i angled myself *very slightly* to the left while still walking up the rope and walked onto the platform. don't turn sideways or you will probably miss it, just angle your direction *very slightly* to the left while still facing the rope's direction, and walk forward and it will put you onto the platform. *no need for any jumping at all*. don't jump.
angle before walking off the rope:
after walking forward and landing on the platform:
Mages can cheese this extremely easily. Walk up the path to the Sanctuary, and you'll end up above it. Carefully position yourself on the jutting bit of wood, hit slowfall, pan your camera to look directly at the ground and jump towards it. When you get above the chest, cast Ice Block and dispel your slowfall.
Works like a charm.
If you're a priest and have the legendary cloak you can levitate straight to the platform from the other side of the bridge. I aimed, ran and then cast levitate as i passed the edge - landed right on it.
To all those trying to walk the ropes.... you do not need to!
I used a Golden Glider from the edge of the broken bridge to swoop round and land on the cliff ledge behind the pillar with the chest on, and was able to jump onto the pillar and open the chest without using a single rope.
I imagine similar items to Golden Glider would work also.
Hunters, if you land on the grassy part just below the pillar with the chest, experiment with
. I found if you angle yourself just right, it'll get you high enough to land on the pillar.
This is one of six chests on the
that you can loot weekly:
To check which of the six you have looted this week, paste the following into a chat window:
/run local function z(n,i)print(format('%s: %s',n,IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(i)and'\124cff00ff00Yes\124r'or'\124cffff0000No\124r'))end z('Gleaming',32969);z('RopeBound',32968);z('MistCovered',32971);z('Satchel',32970);z('Jetsam',32956);z('Sunken',32957);
If you missed the last platform and ended up on the ledge behind it, you can jump back on to the platform if you are mounted and use the Windfeather Plume buff.
If you don't know how to walk, press / on your keypad.
Here a video to reach the chest...
Did it today with my buddy on a mechano-hog with sidecar. ironically enough, it broadened our floor range and was pretty easy.
If you have engineering,
works well. If you accidentally land at the mountain behind the platform with the chest, you can easily jump over to the platform while mounted.
I am bad at flying so I ended up at the base of the pillar, ran up the mountain ramp so I was at same level with the platform, mounted and jumped over.
Is a great guide
Since I'm not very good at jumping or walking on ropes, I went to the
Gleaming Crane Statue
, got the wings and flew to the pilar where
is. All you need to do is circulate a bit your character to be sure you land on the right spot.
I did this today without involving ropes at all. At the very end of the broken bridge directly above this you can walk out on the ledge to the right, make sure you're facing directly at the chest below and then just take a step forward - don't auto-run! Took some 40-50% hp of falling damage -
as a druid with Glyph of Grace
- but landed spot on.
rather than risk falling to your doom,
try going to the "
gleaming crane statue
," which is south east of the chest. it sits near the cliff, opposite the bridge entrance, which is protected by
if you touch the crane statue it will shoot you up in the air, so you can collect treasure chests.
instead of going for chests, fly to the
ropebound treasure chest]
. just circle around it until you land on it
made it on my first try.
After several failed attempts, mainly at the last platform, I came here and read the comments. What I found to make this much easier and worked the first time was to use a large mount to run the cables. Something like an elephant will work nicely. When you get to the platform be directly over it and dismount so if you fall, you'll at least land on the platform. The jump and while in the air press the forward key (up arrow). This will make you move only about a foot. May have to do this a couple of times to get off the cable and onto the platform below.
Makes you never fall again!
Very easy for a mage with legendary cape. I leaped through the broken bridge to the side where Ordon Sanctuary is. I turned around and could see the chest on the pillar. I cast slow fall and simply jumped forward. Somehow I landed just on the top of the chest without any adjusting of the fall.
You can also jump off the bridge and use a Glider. I found it easier personally than walking ropes.
As a paladin, I didn't need to use anything to reach it. I went to the end of the broken bridge, angled myself toward the chest, and jumped toward it. I activated Divine Shield before landing right next to the chest to avoid taking damage.
I used a goblin glider from the cliff edge by the first pillar with a rope on it...glided to post just above chest and dropped down to pillar with chest. When dropping down,
USE WALK not RUN! :)
Blah blah, rope walking blah blah...
Screw that. Here's the
way to get this stupid chest: Go up on the bridge walkway where it's broken above it, jump off and open a glider (either buy one here, or use a Goblin Glider you prolly have from a Blingtron box) and zoom around a bit until you have the chest in your line of sight:
Bee-line for the chest. If you're lucky, you'll land on the pedastal with it. Awesome, job done.
If you miss the pedastal, keep going straight to the low cliff just beyond it, and drop there. You can't reach the chest from this cliff, but if you back up as far as it lets you, you can mount up and jump onto it. Awesome, job done moments later.
If you don't wanna risk a mis-jump to your death (unlikely as you're more likely to hit the pedastal, and land back on your ledge) you can wait for your glider to cooldown, so you can save yourself in you somehow miss completely.
Treasure of life we like ;This thing in speech to rope bound treasure
we need that
Jump on the ledge - walking step by step over it.
Activated slowfall and stepped out into thin air :)
Used blink twice on my way to the pillar - work like a charm........First try :)
I just came here to find out where it was for the achievement.
