And nobody has anything to comment on this one, because is the most unknown boss in the whole raid preview.
Here is the Hellfire Assault done in looking for raid:
She pilots the Iron Reaver! Love the voice acting.
Since this specific page doesn't seem to have all her quotes just yet. Keep in mind that she yells
Burn them to the ground.
Cannons on the way.
Comin' in hot!
Fire in the hole!
Hah-ha! Trample their corpses!
I see we have visitors. To arms!
I'll be back...
If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself...
Inspect our defenses, now!
Run them down!
Send in the crusher!
So, you wish to test the might of the Fel Horde? Come warriors, show them how we treat unwanted guests.
Stand proud, warriors. Our enemies march upon the foot of this mighty citadel. Be on guard.
Strike them down!
Taste my axe!
They'll never see what hit them...
We are victorious!
You, check on the citadel's defenses.
I'm going to assume the answer is "no", but can players obtain her shoulderpad? The one without the ugly looking hook on it?
Ok trying to do this solo, but the green boxes are not dropping on the encounter, "Hellfire Assault". I've never been here, and if i had it was for very small handful of runs, so don't recall the mechanics of this fight. Been you Tubing it, no help. Im stumped.
Im in raid group, its set for normal. Any helpful info/insight will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Really struggling with this on my Retribution Paladin, I just don't have the mobility to swap between cannons and kill the mobs before they can kill the artillery.
Hard as fking hell to solo in mythic (930), even with bear tartare, sephuz, engineering belt + the mobility of a hunter.
Get it to 10-20% hp 7minutes into the fight several times and then suddenly ur at the south side and your FPS drops to 1-2 and thats GG.
No one seems to have said this, so I will. Only kill the vehicles and what is necessary to survive on this fight. The vehicles seem to keep spawning, but the waves don't come until you've cleared all of the last one. I'm not sure if that's per side or what, but figuring this out made this a lot easier, at least on a blood dk
It's helpful to have some kind of ability like Nether Tempest that you can cast at range, and which will aggro all enemies near a specific mob. I used Nether Tempest a lot in this fight to immediately pull a whole group towards me before they reached the cannon, often while i'm running/ blinking to the other cannon.
You need to have really good awareness of what is going on at both cannons at all times. It is easy to miss a mob or two that can just hammer down on a cannon really fast. Stay alert and know whats going on at both cannons at ALL TIMES.
Prioritize the vehicles when you see them!
I was able to do this as an 856 ilvl Arcane Mage. Good luck!
I just keep getting one shotted after I kill the first vehicle. Suggestions?
I kept getting one-shotted because clearly I didnt follow the tactics. Those greenlight pillars are supposed to be picked up and delivered to one of the cannons (the ones you are defending). Keep doing this and eventually you will win.
Quick guide for soloing Mythic Hellfire Citadel:
In this video 3 bosses are covered:
Soloed as a warlock:
Demonology ilvl 955
Affliction ilvl 948
Easy way to beat this on Normal and Heroic. Haven't tried Mythic with this. Only a certain number of mobs spawn before a vehicle does, then the next waves and vehicle won't spawn until the previous sets of waves have died. Let all the waves spawn, and collect them, but don't kill them. Wait for the vehicle to spawn and kill it, collect the ammo and run it to the cannon then clear the waves. The new set of waves will spawn, collect them all, kill vehicle, fire cannon, kill waves. Repeat until the fight is over. Doing this neither of my cannons were touched, I even got the achieve.
It's honestly pretty ridiculous that either cannon dying will cause an instant wipe when you only actually need one cannon to kill the door.
Soloable with super mobile class and still very hard to solo. You run and run tagging everything to defend cannons :D
Still near on impossible to solo, unless you're a class with insane mobility (Demon Hunter, Rogue, Mage) you simply will not be able to keep up with the waves coming and the munitions boxes spawn far too slowly for it to matter.
Why not just make it skippable like Dreamwalker in ICC? Awful WoD design still haunting the game two expansions on.
This encounter is somewhat easier now that BFA is out as you now have a damage boost against Warlords of Draenor mobs.
This means your only concern will be speed, and not DPS when trying to solo this.
Solo'd Mythic Hellfire Assault on patch 8.0.1 as an item level 334 Fury Warrior. I was talented into both
, which I consider mandatory for soloing this. My passive movement speed was 109% thanks to bonus speed stats on gear, including a 3% movement speed gem,
. I was also using
, which while nerfed in BfA, is still very helpful. Note that
does not work on this encounter when you are level 120. I also had
on a single piece of Azerite Armor, so the incoming damage in the encounter was entirely negligible (I don't believe I ever fell below 95% health if I even fell below 100% at all).
It took me four attempts to solo it and the successful attempt was
close (one of the cannons was at 1-2% when I got the final munition delivery in).
Some important takeaways are:
Aggro on mobs is more important than anything else. You want them to attack you and nothing else.
For group spawns, you only need to aggro one mob for the whole group to aggro you.
was extremely helpful as a ranged pull to prevent groups from getting to cannons.
Keep as many of the caster mobs alive as you can. This helps slow down additional waves from spawning and keeps things more manageable.
The big brutes, the engineers, and the regular trash can all be killed at your convenience.
The engineers have a nasty stun, so try to kill them immediately on spawn.
Always keep an out eye out on both cannons and plan ahead. If you see orange swirlies on the ground on the opposite cannon, you know you're going to need to get there asap.
Make judicious use of the speed buff you get from picking up munitions. Many times it is better to use the speed buff to get to the other cannon than it is to drop off the munitions.
Try to kill the first spawn of two siege engines at the point where they are right next to each other (before they go in different directions to each cannon). This will make sure your attempt doesn't start off doomed.
Hopefully some of these points help you. Good luck!
Normal and heroic are completely soloable. All you have to do is keep the adds alive to give yourself a breather and load the hellfire munitions, and kill them when you're ready for the next wave of siege vehicles. Pretty simple.
Mythic, on the other hand, is virtually un-soloable unless you're a class that has an insane amount of mobility AND you have very good situational awareness, and even under those circumstances it's just BARELY soloable. Adds and vehicles seem to operate on set timers, so you're rarely if ever given a break. On top of that, the adds frequently spawn in sequence on complete opposite ends of the boss arena. Really hoping this gets updated at some point for people who want to run old content, because it's just ridiculous.
Mythic HF Assault, although hard, can be solo-ed by hunters.
Useful talents : Volley / Trailblazer / Posthaste / Barrage / Piercing Shot.
Set your pet on passive and place it close to the furthermost entrance of either cannon. Take your place in the middle, slightly towards the other one.
Now the main idea is that you send your pet to attack a)berserkers b)siege engines c)1 enemy of every other group that spawns close to that spot(IMPORTANT : you need to control it from your side), while you handle mid / opposite area. These groups will attack the pet, but since it will kill only the first target, the rest will gather around it for you to clear with a couple of multishots. Once your side is clear, you can disengage/aspect/run to the other one and take advantage of the gathered Felfire Munitions.
Swap sides if you have a damaged cannon.
Hardest part will be towards the end, when it gets chaotic. Be sure to have Barrage up and manage your pet as fast as possible. At this point the door shouldnt have much HP, so dont panic and finish it.
Managed to solo mythic as feral druid. 356 ilvl, in speed set giving me passive 170% movement speed. I'd say important talents are: Lunar Inspiration (ranged spell to make enemies go to you instead of cannons), Tiger Dash (burst speed for when you're getting overwhelmed) & Balance Affinity (extra range on Moonfire and Brutal Slash/Trash).
Got the kill fairly easy on 2nd attempt. 1st attempt I wiped on 2% because I got too focused on clearing one side and the cannon on the other side died very fast.
Couple of key points that makes the fight more doable:
* If you tag 1 mob out of a spawn, it'll cause the whole group to aggro and run after you, instead of attacking the cannon. You can Moonfire 1 mob, and then run off to the other side and they'll follow.
* The crates give a very big speed bonus. Use this as much as you can.
* Early on in the fight you'll get overwhelmed by machines, dropping very large amounts of crates. You're not in any big rush to pick these up immediately, it's more important to keep mobs off the cannons. As mentioned, pick a crate up for the speed buff, run to the most critical side and turn it in.
* You'll get a big break a few minutes into the fight. At first I though things had bugged, but things will continue after a minute or so. This is why running crates isn't that superimportant, because you have time now to turn in ones you might have left (unless they despawn, but I didn't notice any such thing on my attempts).
So, is this fight impossible to solo? I've tried a dozen times, and I can't get anywhere on this. I guess that I have to group to do this raid, just to get past the first encounter. For a raid from two expansions ago, this seems bad. Not that I expect to be able to solo every raid from more than two expansions back, but I do think I should be able to get past the first boss of any raid.
I've soloed mythic HF Assault multiple times with 5 specs so far:
Balance druid > Surv Hunter > Arcane mage > Outlaw rogue > Havoc DH
All toons 120, haven't been using any sorts of speed buffs or speed gear, just picked proper talents.
From my point of view, the most important things are:
1. Rememver you don't have to kill mobs asap. Just wait until they become attackable (can pick a crate meanwhile), tag one out of each pack, run to the other side, repeat.
2. Keep delivering crates while tagging mobs. By the end of intermission, you're supposed to have 0-2 crates up, boss on around 30%. For the rest of the fight there will be no more breaks and you have to keep delivering crates at all times, using the speed buff to get from one side to another.
Some more tips:
– Priority mobs to tag are Berserkers, they deal heavy damage to cannons.
– Dragoons become immune to aggro when getting close to the cannon. Save some AOE for that case.
– Zoom out and set nameplateMaxDistance and nameplateMaxAlphaDistance to 100. This can be done through Advanced Interface Options addon.
– In the intermission don't kill Grute until all other mobs dead and all crates delivered.
– Multiple spawns don't share aggro. If a couple of engineers spawn next to a pack of dragoons, you'll have to tag 1 engineer and 1 dragoon.
– The fight is limited to 9 minutes.
After some practice you develop some awareness, knowing where to run in anticipation and all that becomes pretty easy.
P.S.: To Arcane Mages and Outlaw rogues: mobs evade after somewhat like 30-40 seconds, run towards a cannon and start hitting it, this means most likely a wipe. So don't overextend with Chrono Shift and Restless Blades ;)
So until Blizzard fixes this on Mythic, it's highly recommended you bring a friend at least until you are able to utilize the skip quests.
Currently without clever buffs and insane mobility, Mythic Hellfire Assault is basically impossible. Once a single cannon dies, you die, effectively ending the encounter. I would advise as many people as possible to write Blizzard on the official forums in hopes there is some kind of fix to make this more easily soloable.
My idea was to just make the encounter end when BOTH cannons die, which allows you to tunnel one side and not worry about the other cannon dying. Either that, or just make the spawn waves come in the same pattern as Normal/Heroic which are much easier to handle.
Regardless, without some kind of help on Blizzards end, no amount of power from gear is going to make this any easier, since it's not reliant on how fast you kill enemies, but just how fast you can GET to the enemies, which is basically impossible without use of speed buffs/highly mobile characters.
Totally impossible to solo on Mythic. After a certain point it just starts spamming siege vehicles and enemy waves like every 2 seconds and I just get totally overwhelmed.
I soloed this on my hunter and balance druid, it was hell of a work, don't bother if you are not ranged, have a lot of AOE and super mobile, just take the right talents, speed boost from looting the crates and AOE like like a #$%^& to pass this crap, Blizzard should give us a solution on this one.
Update: Mythic is confirmed now easily soloable as of 8.2. The cannons take little or no damage at all and it did only take 5 felfire munitions to win.
The 8.2 patch notes infer that soloing this will now be trivial on Mythic.
The damage that Hellfire Reinforcements and Felfire-Imbued Siege Vehicles inflict to the Hellfire Cannons has been massively reduced for characters with a level of 104 or greater on all raid difficulties.
The number of Felfire Munitions required to defeat the encounter has been reduced to 5 for characters with a level of 104 or greater on all raid difficulties.
It seems that this was 'un-nerfed' a bit this week? Damage to the cannons seem to still be reduced, but the number of munitions required seems to have been reverted back..? Did anyone else experience this?
Well... I did the this last week, no problem.
Now... One of the canons is dead within the first 15 seconds... so it have been un-nerfed as the new raids was added... D:
I hope this is a bug and not how it was intended...
Very easy solo as at this date.
Seems to be changed (Nerfed? Un-nerfed?) so that it is now easily solo-able.
Had no issue completing it on Mythic - cannons seemed to take little to no damage from mobs that managed to make it to the cannons,
the ammo boxes dropped by the enemy tanks gave a speed boost I don't recall previously
according to the dungeon journal, the speed boost is the same and I just never seemed to notice because I was probably heroic leaping to the cannon from where the box dropped, and our cannons don't seem to really need the ammo boxes to fire on the gates.
Did this today as a lvl 114 demon hunter. 10m mythic. Wasn't even hard.
I have to say that I am super pumped that they have finally fixed this for us (even if it did take them years to get around to it). I actually thought I would give it another go today with some speedy azerite gear on my hunter and lo and behold after I think 4 munitions it cleared. At first I thought that I had lost really fast (my pavlovs reaction) but upon second glance I saw the message and I have been overjoyed ever since. So I can safely say the they have not reverted any nerfs that they made, I did it on my first try and everything is as it should be.
Edited10/25: Lol, it's so funny that people vote down comments like this one. Whomever you are (or may be in the future), there there, it's all going to be ok.
hunt season begin! :)
I bet the
will, again, be useful, now in this fight. As it was in Lei Shen's, or SoO's first boss, at least for classes that would solo, and haven't got very good movement skills (DK for instance) :D .
very soloable, you just need to deliver about 3-5 of those ammo crates & the battle is over. you also get a 15 second speed boost when you pick up a crate so you should be able to complete the boss before the adds manage to deal noticeable damage to the cannons.
the things you are going after are the vehicles since they always drop ammo, 2 spawn at the start of the battle so thats about half of the ammo needed right there.
Easy peasy these days. Just kill and deliver crates to cannons. Retri paladin solo:
21/03/2021, tried to solo this and couldnt do it, i remember prior to shadowlands that the cannons would need at most 2 charges per cannon and the boss fight would be over instantly, now i made it to 20% on the door and ended up wiping because the adds do so much damage to the cannons
