Fineous Darkvire patrols the quarry outside of Lord Incendius' chamber. You will need to kill him as part of the quest to obtain the Key to the rest of Blackrock Depths.
Fighting Fineous is pretty much a standard tank & spank fight. Just be aware of the mobs lining the entire path that Fineous patrols and make sure you do not aggro any of them as you battle Fineous.
I just soloed him as a 70 holy priest (23/38/0 with a couple of damage talents in there), but god it was not worth the effort. Originally I tried soloing him in my smite-spam gear (~740 holy dmg, 20% crit) but after a long fight he was able to whittle me down. I found that my best healing gear actually worked better because it had high mana/5 and I was able to tank him long enough to whittle him down with SW:Pain and my wand. He hits very hard for his level, 600 with inner fire up (2990 armor). I started the fight by mana burning him all the way down so he couldn't heal. He dropped his shoulders, Lead Surveyor's Mantle, which gave me a Small Brilliant Shard. Ultimately, not worth the effort.
I came across him today while farming shards in BRD, but instead of patrolling, he just stands in one place, beside a Warbringer Construct and a small group on nonelite mobs. This is after soloing Bael'Gar and Incendius without Closing the gate in BRD.
Edit: I skipped him because I don't think I could down a boss, elite and 3 nonelites in one pull, but while killing a golem furthur up, he appeared out of nowhere and started attacking my pet... No idea on this one.
Solo'd as a 70 prot paladin in spelldamage plate - golem dies to consecration, and adds soon after since they keep draining themselves to heal him. Does tend to get hairy with runners and low mana at the end.
This guy turned out to be much easier then I thought he would be.
For starts, I'm a 70 marks/survival hunter. what I did, was waited for him to patrol up the ramp. I took this time I had to clear out the 3 non elites and the golem that was there, and also killed the golem that patrols constantly up and down the ramp.
I waited for him to come back down, and was easily able to put him down. his heals only hit him for maybe 2k, so I was actually able to out-dps his heals with autoshots alone.
So, I highly suggest clearing out the area while he is patroling for anyone who's not sure if they can't take them all.
the monicle goes great with the 3 piece tuxedo set, might i add :)
GL to anyone farming the place!
i can't seem to find this guy can anyone tell me how to get to him from the instance portal
I managed to solo BRD through Fineous with my 62 semi-feral druid (non-mangle) for the Ironfel quest, but boy......talk about hairy.
I don't even remember how I got to him since I got very lost, but basically, I dropped *down* onto the area where Incendius is and stealthed to the entrance where Fineous patrols. He does patrol, but he's slow and stops in three places of the ramp that I could tell: top, middle, and bottom.
First I got rid of the two fire elementals that guard the entrance between Incendius and Fineous' area. Simple bear form and heals.
Then there is a patrolling Warbringer Construct that comes all the way down the ramp and almost to the entrance of Incendius' platform. I had to wait a while for him to come down, but he comes down far enough to pull individually (I waited until Fineous started patrolling away for this, since I didn't want to accidentally aggro him).
With Fineous patrolling up the ramp and the patrol Construct down, I finally took on the static Construct and his three non-elite ranged cohorts. The trick here is a line-of-sight pull behind the wall to Incendius' platform. That way I didn't have to worry about accidentally aggroing Fineous if and when he came down the ramp again. I had to heal myself at least twice as I took down the Construct first and then the three ranged fighters. Runners here are a bit risky. One almost made it to Incendius.
With this static mob group gone, I had the entire bottom ramp to myself and just waited for Fineous to patrol down again. I was in a few Outland greens, some Outland blues, and had the Warden staff. 20 stam/spi food buff, +30 Str buff. And I lost count of how many times I had to heal myself.
Fineous has a special attack that took off 600-700 hp per hit, not to mention that he heals himself. He sat at half health for a while as I just bore it and hoped he ran out of mana (which he did): frenzied regen, bash-heal, bash-pot, barkskin, nature's swiftness instant heal, lots of regrowths plus rejuv, and I even innervated myself once. I really pulled out all the stops for healing myself (the fight was so long that my cooldowns finished a couple times). A mangle feral druid might have an easier time with higher DPS.
He didn't try to run away, and finally dropped dead. Since I did it for the key quest and not a measly blue (shard), it was a little more worthwhile to me, but ouch.
Soloed him today on a 70 arcane mage, about 10.3 HP unbuffed. Took me about 3 tries to finally get him; first two I tried when he was by adds, the third when he was pathing down, so i got him solo.
Even when he was solo, was a little challenging, between the constant pummels and mediocre DPS, I ended the fight at sub 20% iirc.
Probably be much easier as a frostie.
As stated before he is standing at the bottom of the ramp right after Lord Incendius and he patrols to the top of the ramp but he doesn't do that very often, so if you trying to farm him for shards it is not worth the time waiting for him to move to make a easy pull without adds.
I however soloed him tonight on my 69 hemo rogue with 6500 hp and he was quite easy when you can pull him without adds. I was lucky so he went up the ramp when i arrived to him so i could kill the elemental and dwarfes and down where he usually stands. Took a few minutes for him to come back down again but when he did i used one evasion (rogue skill +50% dodge) and he dropped quite fast. He hits for around 450 and has a special attack for 800 dmg (on leather armor in this case) which is not much if you are a melee class and can avoid damage by dodge/parry/block. Having the ability to interrupt his heals on short cooldown (kick in my case) is what make him easy, or very hard if you dont have it. I have tried to solo him with my mage in full epics and i could not do it.
Just solo'd him as a 70 fire mage. He is by no means a pushover (as opposed to the rest of BRD I've done so far). He likes to pummel a lot and is immune to frost nova and dragon's breath (at least the disorient). Note that he will heal more often than you can counterspell. I won't be doing this fight again, but if I did, I would probably bandage during the first heal and then counterspell the second one.
I think this would be fairly easy for a mage with good pvp epics (only had 7k hp) or a frost mage.
Darkvire is one of only two mobs in the whole game who drops a unique BoP shirt. The other being Doctor Theolen Krastinov in Scholomance.
This little bastard Hit's hard and fricking lasts like a lvl 70 boss. We were laughing so hard when three of us went in for the hell of it all kara/t4/badge geared a dps mage tank/dps warrior and holy pally. He lasted alot longer then he should have. I also soloed him (holy pally) but it took awhile and the fact that he heals himself was annoying even if it was only a small amount of life........Though why he kept casting what looked like Salvation on himself was beyond me.
I killed this guy because I needed the key for the engineer robot and for a tankadin he´s a cakewalk. I don´t know if he received a major nerf or something but I just pulled him and killed him along with a construct and lot´s of thoose annoying dwarves who keep them up. Maybe this was just to my advantadge because he kept healing the other dwarves instead of himself. So I you need to kill him don´t worry to much, I sure was after reading the above posts but I found him to be a cakewalk as of 08/04/22.
I was soloing him on my lvl 64 ret paly, and when he was at 2% he crit me for 666 damage and killed me, I'm not joking. And I was about to use a potion.
Not the easiest fight as a poorly geared 70 fire mage. The best thing to do before you start the fight is to clear the top of the ramp of the dwarves and machines to create a nice area to take him down in. Then go back and find a small group of NPCs and sheep one with the 'Fury of Ragnaros' buff to Spellsteal at the end of the fight. Kill the rest and steal the buff before you finish off the last one. Its not a huge buff at +25 damage, but if your gear is lacking every bit of spell damage counts. Quickly restore your health and mana then head back to where Fineous patrols and start the fight while your new buff is still active.
Start off with a pyroblast to do some big initial damage. After that I used a Gnomish Shrink Ray to make his melee attacks less powerful throughout the fight. He is immune to roots so he will be in your face often. Be sure to Blink away from him whenever possible to fire off a few quick spells without pressure on you. You can counterspell his heals, but as they only heal for around 5% of his health or so, the time is better spent getting in an evocation or a bandage. Bringing a mana or health potion could come in handy... I neglected to bring either but still managed it the second try. Good luck!
Just soloed as a 70 41/20/0 disc priest in decent pvp gear.
When I pull him I pulled a mechanical guard and 3 trash mob dwarfs by accident. If this happens to you be sure to kill the mechanical guard and the mobs you pull with him first then get on him asap. It also helps to kill the 2 fire adds just outside his area before you start so you can pull them in a bit and have room to fear a couple times without pulling more. Once the adds are dead, put a sw:p on him and start wanding him which you will continue the whole fight. Dispell the buff he gives himself to make things go a little quicker, he's immune to fear so there's not much you can do to interrupt his heals but they wont heal him for much. Just keep a renew on yourself and a sw:p on him throughout the fight and eventually he will die before you. :)
He drops life stones
Easy figth with some northrend greens, and outland blues... Soloed as a 70 Prot Warrior, and lost max 1k health, first try.
My opinion, Prot warrior, solo this guy, no probs..
When I went searching last night to see which boss this was, saw directions that were sending one through the whole ring of law event, and upon reading further it mentioned the statue. At that point, didn't like those directions much; but was in a hurry to leave, and comming back not sure what site I got them from.
The better way (and also doable if one has nakey died to pickup the quest, after the first go), is to unlock the 2 shadowforge gates, then the gate to east garison. One won't need to unlock the rest of the city (can skip the mobs around that), as it's the final boss before one would get iron fel to turn in). Anyhow, go upstairs, straight from the top of the steps, then cros the ring of law. A few trash pulls, accross the bridge, around the loop thing, past the vault, then turn into the dormicile. Head straight, down the steps, hang a right, and he's in the manufactury exactly where it mentioned he pats on this here thread.
No need to clear that rather largish room, do the ring of law, or any of that jazz, if you already have (or if you get ironfel and return it to that statue (right from where you crossed the ring of law) first time in. Better still, if some don't have the key on a given char, pair up with peeps who might have it on their main, bang this out, then do it however you need. We were asked to get the shirt off this NPC for Ulduar, due to the item gear lvl on it relative to other shirts.
There is a big chance you will aggro a golem with 3 dwarves when you engage him. Make sure you kill the little dwarves first because they are ranged and after a while they might attack your healer. So what i did on my feral druid: I faerie fire the boss, charge to the dwarves and turn around to swipe the entire group to make sure they will stay on me. Other tankclasses such as a paladin can use avenger's shield on the boss and golem and run to the group and consecrate them.
"Gentleman" Dark Iron Paladin mini-boss.
The one whom all bank characters live in fear of.
Solo'd by an MM hunter, he hurts but make sure to use tranq shot on his buffs!
Here's a couple of quick ways to get to him.
: Head to the Grim Guzzler, Start a riot by killing a few dwarves. Some "bouncers" will come through the door. Kill them off, exit the door and walk to the end of the ledge (towards the other mole machine). Jump down off the ledge and make a left. Fineous will be walking around in the next room.
: Head to the entrance of BRD, take the mole machine to your right as you enter. Head "Just past the Grim Guzzler", then do the same as above. Jump off the ledge, make a left, kill Fineous, receive loot.
If you're a lock, I'd recommend placing a demonic circle near the machine so that you can take it to get back to the entrance faster.
Having failed being a warlock, you can just walk past Lord Incendious, back through the detention block and head through the gate to get back to the start.
Yes, the shirt still drops. 5/13/2016, tested and still works.
Do you enjoy skinny dipping in lava? Do you like shirts? How about punching dark iron dwarves in the face? What self-respecting adventurer doesn't, you say? Read on...
Here's how I got

10 Easy Steps*
Use the remote, which sends you directly to Blackrock Depths.
Strip down to nothing. That way, you take no durability loss for what you're about to do...
Take the Abandoned Mole Machine to "Just past the Grim Guzzler".
Jump off the ledge and make your way to the Hall of Crafting.
If he doesn't drop the shirt, take a swim in the lava and release.
Phase into The Masonary (just outside) and reset your instance.
You'll be doing this really fast, so if the server says you've entered too many instances recently, just hearth. You can try again in an hour, which also happens to be the cooldown on your remote.
Profit! Not only do you have an awesome shirt, you earned it by
punching a dark iron dwarf in the face

I have no evidence, beyond the fact that the WOW team was highly influenced by D&D, but this character may be a reference to the often misspelled Finieous Fingers, a cartoon character featured in the early issues of The Dragon magazine. You can find them archived here:
