These guys are pretty heavily farmed for the whelping pet on my server, and the drop rate seems really low, but .2% is too low imo.

Note: This is a rare pet and most people on servers are willing to pay 100g+ for this little Bugger. FYI this is a non combat pet. This Spawns by the lake when you enter The Swamps of Sorrows. I farmed this for mount money and i got it. Only Dreaming Whelps drop this

On top of it being tough to get , the horde have a quest for them so it's a free for all when you are trying to get one

As far as I know these are the only whelps that drop the scales for the skinning enchant.

These guys are immune to hibernate even as dragonkin. (as of patch 2.4)

ive got 3 items so far that have a 0 percent chance of drop in 4 hours, but still not whelpling

Can one-two shot these in ghostwolf form at 70 >.>
Not much point though since you end up waiting for respawns either way, recommend if you have an alt to farm these while you farm other whelps elsewhere and log between each location every so often instead of sitting waiting for spawns.

Much ,much harder to get than the Azure or Crimson Whelplings. I got both of those in less than 2 hours of farming each time. I farmed for the Emerald Whelpling for about 2 months & approximately 1-2 hours a day before I got him. But I have to say it was worth it. Being a skinner is a definite plus because the leather & scales sell very nicely on the AH.

Well.. I cant find any Dreaming Whelps... Only about 2 or 3 whelps spawn.....

Impossible to farm these since there's only like 10 whelps up, and when you kill them you have to wait for the rewpawn...

from lv 35 to lv 42 farming for this pet , got only 1 drop and i sold for 1.5k gold

remember from lv 35 to 42 only 1 drop

Actually the Adolescent Whelps don't drop the pet. But they DO share a spawn point; so you need to kill them for the pet anyway, or the Dreaming Whelp, which does drop the pet, won't have a chance to spawn.

As you kill these while farming a ridicilous amount of Small Flame Sac's will drop, these can be used to make Dragonbreath Chili, the mystery meat needed can simply be bought off Anton in howling fjord for 3,5 silver.

i got mine after killing 5 whelps and i got it off the one with the 0 drop rate.

This mob drops a good sum of blues, pretty good mob if you're looking for Tiny Emerald Whelpling, Skinning, and leveling. But if you're only looking for the Tiny Emerald Whelpling, get ready for a long farm. i'm exetremely determined and i'm sure ill get it sometime. Good Luck to all of you Companion pet farmers! =D

From what I can tell, these guys are in the Emerald Dream. The name states "Dreaming." So I'm assuming they're there physically but not mentally. Their mental half is somewhere in the Emerald Dream. Iv'e been getting quite interested in the Emerald Dream so this is just something I noticed while passing by them.

While it makes sense, these guys have pretty high nature resistance so trying to kill them for the quest on an elemental shaman is slow going.

As a heads up as of Patch 4.0.3a the whelps are no longer in Swamp of Sorrows the only ones who seem to drop the whelp now is the noxious whelps in northern feralas north of Dream Bough to be precious. but keep in mind they have a .2% drop rate so happy hunting if you want it.
