This mob combines the abilities of the
. It will cast pyroblasts and heals, summon golems and kilns, rain fire on you, and charge you if you are too far away. It also moves noticeably faster than an Eternal Kilnmaster, especially when under the effects of its kiln.
Much like the Eternal Kilnmasters, as far as I can tell, this mob will not melee you; he will just cast
whenever he gets in melee range.
General strategy: stay close, avoid golems, avoid raining fire, interrupt his casts, kill his kilns, avoid his fire lines.
There is only one of this mob, and he is located in the middle of the courtyard on the left side of the Ordos Sanctuary (the one that contains the blazing chest). His drops are not considerably better than the much easier elites surrounding him, so I would recommend simply leaving him alone. That being said, this mob should theoretically be soloable by any class, so if you want to kill him just for the challenge, go for it.
We ran a small group combo, destruction warlock, elemental shaman and discipline priest. Together we were able to burn him down and the surrounding mobs easily.
High Priest of Ordos dropped between 250 and 300 timeless coins. On average we've found he had about a 10 minute spawn timer.
Originally we came up to get the Blazing Chest, part of
. The chest itself contained some timeless coins, two timeless epics and a
Closest I got solo (as feral) was 14mil. It is quite impossible to solo as melee. And infuriating to watch a fire mage just run in a circle for 5 minutes with no problem at all.
You cant kill the eternal kiln, because golems and the blazing blow don't allow you to stay in one spot long enough without dying. You can only dps the mob in 1-6 second intervals between golem kiting before he just spawns another and, eventually, you either get hit by a blazing blow or firestorm gets put right under you a cpl times and you die.
The mechanics of this and so many other rares/elites in the game are so poorly designed it indicates either a lack of caring or a lack of common sense in whoever designed it. And this is certainly not the only mob on Timeless isle that blatantly favors casters while making things practically impossible for melee.
Edit: Got one today solo on first try for the killing time achievement, just rooted golem the second it came out and moved the priest about 8 yards away from it, then continued running circles around him and dpsing. He usually casts something else right after golem which gives you time to move him without getting caught in a blazing blow as long as I rooted the golem immediately
Soloed this as a hunter (514).
Easiest place to kill it is just to the SE of where the Achiereus spawns, near to the graveyard (about 39:35). Few hostile mobs here except for the Ironfur Bull, and some people may even join in after ressing. It is possible to pull the High Priest from the platform without aggroing the Molten Guardian or Blazebound Chanter en route.
Best strategy is to kite. Keep pet on passive to keep it alive. Run in circles spamming Disengage whenever possible (Crouching Tiger helps here). Deterrence if needed.
Make sure you avoid Blazing Blow which will one shot you - I just found disengaging whenever he got up to me helped avoid this most of the time. Interrupt Cauterize as well.
I've found an absolute EASY MODE way to solo these guys!
First of all, you need to pull one from Three-Breeze Terrace.
Kite them into Cavern of Lost Spirits.
Click on the Spirit Light within there, as long as u manage to kill the Eternal Kiln whenever it spawns & keep your Spirit Light buff active, the high priest won't 1shot you and his golems will hit quite weak.
These can be kited to the Celestial Court, where players may, uh, "help" you. You'll probably just end up killing a bunch of AFK folks. Have fun!
Just pulled one from Three-Breeze Terrace with moonfire to the horde flightpath. the sentrys tanked it they wont die even at 1hp. i ran in and put bleeds on to refresh. avoided golems. easy kill.
Soloing Strat as a Blood Death Knight:
-also a good test of might for aspiring Blood tanks
1) Make sure you have ALL possible isle buffs to maximize survivability: Niuzao buff from the shrines, Singing Crystal, Dew, and Book. The Fire Poppy right outside provide you with Smoldering Spores-5% hp regen every 3 secs... Death Pact will help for moments of low hp
2) After pulling Constantly circle the High Priest, if you stop you will be probably one-shotted by Blazing Blow
3) Use Anti-Magic Shell when Golems are up to absorb some fire dmg
4) DO NOT mind the Kilns as they slightly increase the debuff the priest receives from Cauterize
-Cauterize-Heals the High Priest for 25% and places a debuff on the priest that causes 1% hp damage per second for 30 seconds. -
DO NOT INTERUPT
, it's tempting but don't
In case someone was wondering what fist weapons they're using -
As a destro warlock this is very easy to solo. Having all isle buffs (+chi-ji) will make these last at most, a minute. With Grimoire of Sac + Kil'jaeden's Cunning this is just a kite and kill fight. Make sure you have enough kiting room. You'll start learning his rotation and be able to cast Chaos Bolt.. if not, you can easily Incinerate + Conflagrate your way to victory.
Some additional tips.
If you can interrupt an urn, do it. The buff is channeled to the priest and it will not be recast so if you take it down it stays down (and they are elementals so Holy Wrath stun works for prot pallies).
Black Ash works great on his Cauterize, making the heal deal significant damage. If you can stock up on them it works wonders. Ofc any healing debuff will work too.
What I did was kite him to Huojin Landing and let the guards help me solo him.
If you are alliance using the Censer of Eternal Agony makes the guards neutral from hostile.
If these mobs reset so far away from their spawn point that they teleport back to their spawn rather than run back while they have a kiln up they will retain their kilnfire buff until someone kills them or the server resets. This retained kilnfire buff will stack with future kilns summoned. I have seen a High Priest with 3 stacks of kilnfire, who could outrun epic ground mounts and cast blazing blows in less than half a second.
If you want
- choose talents:
to evade oneshot abilities of priest and/or others mobs in area.
save your life if you fail to evade oneshot attack.
combo-generator. Weak, but can attack from distance!
combo-finisher. Also can slow mob (need to check).
will greatly help to evade additional mobs, when you kiting
Good luck! :)
- don't break the cast of
, unless mob is nearly to die. Priest will heal, but the amount of heal is smaller, that DoT effect of
- always kill
, cause if you don't do it,
will speed, damage and cast up by 50% (
). You really don't want it.

Guide to Solo this as a Rogue. (100% proved.)
Hi everyone, Juanchio here.
I figure how to solo this guys as a Rogue. Just follow this tips and you will be fine, however at the time given this "discovery" I was at iLvL535 (Timeless Gear +
Burden of Eternety
) with legendary Cloack.
Things you will need in order to do this: (I did it on Sub spec, but tried on all 3 before posting to confirm every spec was viable to do so.)
LOCATION: Go to the Ordon Sanctuary (where the rare
Urdur the Cauterizer
spawns. Clear the 2
that spawn near a Cauldron of Flames. After those mobs (and the rare if he spawned) are dead, Open on the High Priest, and jump ASAP on the top of the Cauldron, the
wont touch you up there, so now focus on keeping yourself alive and DoTing.
All island Buffs to speed up your DPS and improve your survavility:
Book of the Ages
Dew of Eternal Morning
will be your personal healer on here, if you are solo-ing this. (Thing that you are doing if you are reading this. xD) If you didn´t know, the Smoldering Spores are plants lying around the Ordon Sanctuary
The Celestial Blessing: In my experience, for the first couple of tries, you will want to maximize your chances to survive the combat, so using
Fortitude of Niuzao
should be adviceable, just until you feel confortable enough with the mechanics and feel familiar with the combination of blazing blows + the Adds. Once you get the hang of it, I HIGHLY suggest the use of
, those stats are amazing but the main key here is the +25% Haste. The more Autoattacks you put, the more procs of self healing from the
Dew of Eternal Morning
, and of course the more damage you get on him.
To avoid extra adds while the fight goes on, use
, this will reduce the range that other mobs aggro you on sight, therefore making a safe zone for you to fight.
About your "MUST USE" Talents and Glyphs:
You must use
Glyph of Feint
here, since the -30% damage on a spammable spell is just too good to avoid.
just dont provide enough self healing to compensate the trade off, trust me I tried and just is not reliable enough.
To improve all the self-healing that will be coming from the buffs and the spores use:
Glyph of Recovery
, that + Feint with Elusiveness should provide all the key tools to survive and emerge victorious over this Ugly Burning Cow xD
Poisons: Deadly+Mind-Numbing are the only combination available to do this, since this guy is inmune to Mind Numbing we will be focusing on Deadly mostly.
Finally, remember one IMPORTANT thing to solo this guy: Is NOT a DPS race, is a fight for survival. Dont rush in your DPS cooldowns, focus on keeping Slice and Dice, Feint and Recuperate up at all times, use your DoTs the most; and about some "oh my God, help me!" moments, use
when needed, specially if you find 2 Golems (adds) on you. Also
is a nice tool here, however i dont feel it powerful enough on this guy, since the melee hits you will take will be so slowly recieved that you wont stack more than 3 of the Combat Readiness buff.
Also, use vanish if you feel like you are gonna die, remember your buffs are FAR TOO IMPORTANT TO BE LOST, so vanish and wait for the cooldown of Evasion to end, thats the only one (and vanish, hopefully not) you will be needing.
Hope this info help all my fellow rogues trying to farm this guys for the
or maybe just to prove yourself you can do it.
Happy Hunting and "Ishnu-alah" to everyone out there.

BTW: If you find this info useful, please upvote it, so others can take advantage of this little "guide".
I find the High Priests fairly easy to solo as a Heroic-geared Disc Priest equipped with the DPS cloak. Takes about 3 minutes on average, but with ample Divine Aegis and Power Word: Shielding you should be fine (hint: might wanna glyph Reflective Shield and/or Inner Sanctum). I recommend doing a bunch of kiting with Angelic Feather and grabbing either the Celestial buff that reduces your damage taken or the Celestial buff that increases your stats by 20% in order to give yourself a cushion in case you accidentally get hit by their 800k Blazing Blows. I use a "/tar Eternal" macro to target and focus the Kilns down immediately with Penance/Holy Fire/SW:P since the Kilns haste-buff the High Priests, making them especially dangerous.
There is definitely a technique to dancing with these mobs that is learned over time/through experience, but I will try to communicate a few points. First, a lot of the kiting is in a circular fashion to avoid the Blazing Blows. For this reason, one of the most dangerous things you can do with a High Priest is run directly away from it; if he Blazing Blows at you, you need to be prepared to curl to the side. Also, these mobs do NOT charge+stun you if you kite too far from their melee range, so don't worry about that while you're running around.
The best defense when you see them summoning an Eternal Kiln is to drop an Angelic Feather. With Feathers, you can outrun the mobs even when Kiln-buffed, but be prepared to juke a Blazing Blow as soon as they catch up. When Mindbender comes up, I usually wait for them to summon a Golem, I then kite far away with an Angelic Feather for several seconds, and then I pop Mindbender+Fade. As long as your pet is away from Golems, he can tank just fine. However, be prepared for your Mindbender to pop directly behind the mob after 5 seconds (Shadowcrawl), which causes the High Priest to turn around. In other words, don't stand directly behind the mob if you Fade aggro onto your Mindbender...
The location where I farm these is in Ordos' sanctuary as you enter; there are two High Priests on the far left and two more on the right. Inside the courtyard wall, you have about 10 yards of real estate before you stray into the aggro radius of the patrolling Kilnmaster mobs, etc. (Warning: Don't drop Mindbender next to an add!) I realize this is a narrow area in which to kite, but the High Priests chase you pretty far so you can use both sides of the courtyard as well as the doorway itself. Once they drop below 50% health, they start damaging themselves due to Cauterize, so sometimes you just need to stay alive and on the move... and they will eventually kill themselves.
Finally, a couple pro-tips: You can use a Scuttler's Shell to decrease your aggro radius if you're worried about nearby adds, and you can use Black Ash to absolutely cripple their Cauterize heals!
This guy, while a total pain, is soloable. Here's a few little tips for doing it in the courtyard adjacent to the Ordon Sanctuary, where one of the Blazebound Chests spawn, I haven't tried to fight the one that spawns down on the plateau down below.
Walk into the courtyard and skirt around the edge to the left, hopefully not pulling the Blazebound Chanters (if you do, just kill them, it's just easier to avoid them). Clear out the two mobs that patrol the left side of the courtyard, they spawn randomly as Blazebound Chanters or Eternal Kilnmasters, then grab the Smoldering Spores buff (restores 5% of your max HP every 3 secs) from the Fire Poppy plants that spawn around the edges of the courtyard.
Now you can carefully walk somewhat near the High Priest and pull him with a ranged attack or taunt (be sure to be relatively close, as he will use Fiery Charge if you are too far, and you don't want that, trust me) back into the area that you just cleared out. From here you just have to work on kiting him back and forth in that area to avoid the Flarecore Golems he will summon, as their attacks can be devastating. Obviously avoid his Blazing Blows and the Firestorm projectiles raining down.
The last thing that should be mentioned is a way to deal with the Eternal Kilns. He will summon these seemingly randomly throughout the fight and they give him a buff that will make him nigh impossible to defeat. The kiln has an unlimited range at which it can give it's buff; however, if the Eternal Kiln is stunned at all, the buff will be cancelled and will never be reapplied by that kiln. So you don't necessarily have to kill the kiln, just stun it for any duration. I haven't tried other forms of CC such as incapacitates but they should work just the same. This applies to the kilns summoned by Eternal Kilnmasters as well.
Hope this helps for anyone attempting to solo the High Priest of Ordos for whatever reason :)
Apparently you can not solo melee it if your ilvl is below 540....(510 ret, smart player imo)
I have been farming this mob for months in Three Breeze Terrace and have found kiting them to the Horde camp is by far the quickest and easiest way to farm the 2 that spawn with
. If you are good at avoiding the
or have a
, you can just use your
and pull the
right away, or you can be cautious and clear the couple
s nearby so they don't charge you while fleeing. The
only costs 500
s, and if you can survive at least the 2 Priests, you will earn more than that every time. By the time the 3 main elite mobs are dead, the shrine required for summoning them should have respawned, as long as there isn't a raid of rep farmers taking your other kills while you're in the Horde camp.
The downside to dying on this strategy, aside from the obvious buff loss, is that you must then do more damage than the guards have done to regain your tag on the mob, and that is if another helpful player was not already attacking it. Because of this, actually not having any buffs is a better idea so that the guards will take aggro once you arrive.
As others have said with this mob, it is not a dps race! That 1.08% drop rate on
can make it quite a grind, so just practice tanking and let the npcs do all the work while nearby AFK players suffer the wrath of the Timeless Isle :)
I'm just going to add a few tips...
After farming these guys for many hours in the attempt to get the horn before 6.0 (at which point it'll be a much larger PITA to solo these guys), I've found out a few good tips.
First tip- Kilns. They cast them almost EXACTLY every 25 seconds. You can stun/disorient them, and I believe you can fear them as well. So you can know exactly when they are gonna kiln up with that timer.
Second tip- Kiln+Cauterize combo. They will NEVER cast Cauterize before 50-51%. And, if they cast Cauterize with the Kiln up, the haste affects the DoT tick. If you combine this with Burnt Ashes, all you have to do is survive for the next 30 seconds and they will automatically drop dead.
Final tip, which won't be available next expansion- 50% casting speed debuffs. Curse of Weakness, Mind-numbing poison, pets that give the debuff. These affect the casting time of Blazing Blow, Fire Storm, Conjure Flarecore Golem, and Conjure Eternal Kiln.
Good luck if you are farming these now, and remember that these guys are cakewalk at 100.
If you, like myself, do not have the Mists of Pandaria
, and are farming
, prepare for quite the grind! If you are going solo, you will be killing the same 3 mobs over and over, hoping to get this toy to drop.
This Toy is dropped by
on the Timeless Isle at a 1.4% drop rate. Of a total of 7 of these mobs that can spawn on the Timeless Isle,
only 3 are available to those who do not have the legendary cloak
4 of these are located in the middle courtyard of the Ordon Sanctuary at - the one that contains
. Don't try entering this courtyard without the cloak, as you'll get ported all the way to the Celestial Court and will have to run back! These 4 mobs are out of reach and can't be accessed (without some help - see the end of this post).
With the new multitagging introduced in 7.0, up to 5 people can tag the same mob! As such, there doesn't need to be as much aggressive competition.
Therefore, here is how to get to the 3
you will be farming:
While the 4 mobs in the center courtyard are inaccessible (without help), there is 1
you can kill which is outside of the courtyard. This spot tends to be more secluded, and you may not encounter too many others.
First of all, you will need to get across the broken bridge to Ordon Sanctuary. The easiest way to do this is to use the Engineering tinker
Jump off the bridge and fly to the grassy ledge on the left (
see this screenshot
). Mount up and as you are climbing up go slightly off the grass to the left and then back towards the right to get yourself up onto the cliff.
covers some other methods to get to the Ordon Sanctuary.
Next work your way around the outer wall of the sanctuary to the left until you come into the side courtyard at . A single
will spawn in this courtyard at . He has an 7-10 minute spawn timer.
There are 2
that will spawn as part of the "entourage" for
at Three-Breeze Terrace, (Northwest of the Celestial Court). This mini-boss is spawned by using a
at the challenge stone at the terrace, which not only summons him, but spawns numerous other mobs that appear at fixed points around the terrace, including the 2 priests.
This area, being so close to the Celestial Court, will get a lot of traffic - so be alert on a PvP server!
The mobs that spawn here are clustered fairly closely, and some of them patrol - be vigilant of where you pull the
to kill it, as even at high levels you can over-pull and get overwhelmed.
is available for sale from
. She can be found at the Celestial Court, at (East side).
Note that Honored reputation with
is required to use a scroll
This can be circumvented by having a friend use the scroll at the stone.
is consumed on use, and is Unique (20) - meaning only 20 can be carried at one time.
It doesn't matter who uses the scroll (whether a friend, party member, or random person of either faction). The same mobs will spawn every time.
The stone used to summon
disappears after being used, and cannot be activated for another 10 minutes afterwards.
If you have friends with the legendary cloak who are farming the same
and are generous enough to include you (or just willing to help), some of the mobs within the central courtyard of Ordon Sanctuary can be pulled outside of the entrance (or near the entrance) and killed.
If you are an Engineer, you can use
to loot any bodies that remain in the courtyard.
As a non-Engineer, killing nearby mobs outside the gate should allow you to loot all nearby bodies (with AoE looting).
