This rare elite mob drops
Bufo gets their name from the Latin word for toad.
Bow down to HypnoToad!

rumors say this elite used to run a magic academy untill it was destroyed by meteor and a small boy with a dog
For those of you hunting rares, here's a little help. Copy them all, or just take the ones you need. I've arranged them by location, so you will have to adjust the macro spacing on your own (sorry!):

These co-ordinates do
include spawn locations for:
he circles the Isle very quickly in a clockwise pathing.
they are common spawns found all around the lower forest.
they are common spawns found all around the lower forest.
Also, NPC's with 2 marked spawn points, such as the
Great Turtle Furyshell, Monstrous Spineclaw, Bufo, Python
etc. are known to spawn in multiple areas between or around those two points. So the co-ordinates I've listed are more of a point of reference than a place to stationary camp.
**I've tried for the best accuracy I could, but if you notice I've missed anyone or listed any co-ordinates very wrong, please let me know and I'll fix it asap**

Wowhead's rare guide for the island says that he can spawn in place of any frog, but I don't think that's entirely true, or at least his replacement spawn is a lot lower than say, for example, the Emerald Gander or Great Turtle Furyshell. On my realm, the Croaking Hollow is one of the favorite places for the daily because of the close proximity of all the elite spawns, so he would be spawning a heck of a lot more often if he were truly spawning in the place of another frog.
After camping him the past few days, his spawn timer appears to be the same as the other elite rares on the island, which is anywhere from 30-58 minutes. I cannot be sure that he spawns in the same location that other frogs do, but I know it to not be 100% true, because I have seen him spawn immediately next to a live Gulp Frog. The other Gulp Frogs in the area do not spawn right next to each other, but instead are spaced out a little bit.
I hope my observations help anyone who is camping this guy!
for any 1 looking for spawn times, he spawns between 30-60 min after he is killed. the
addon will show you how long ago he was killed so you can make a rough guess to when its time to start camping
85 minutes since the last kill and counting.
Should have named this mob "Jeremiah"
To kill this rare, you may need to have another person help you. Switch taunts so that the buff will wear off one person, while he is attacking another.
Pretty sure that this is a pop culture reference to Adventure Time episode "Wizard". In the episode they encounter a frog type wizard named Bufo that gives them extra abilities....like the lily pad item that drops from the frogs near his spawn location grants Symbiosis abilities.
Bufo can be possibly derived from the word Bufotenin, which is a chemical component of the venom secreted by various species of toads.
Bufo spawns on the fringes of the the froggie area, all over the place. I've never observed him spawn 'in the middle'.
I farmed Bufo for the Gulp Froglet for about 4 weeks (1 of which was during DMF when I stalk the Darkmoon Rabbit, so for reporting purposes, I stalked him for 3 weeks), during the day, M-F 8a-5p (ish), ET on an east coast server. I tracked my kill times. Wowhead reports a 3% drop rate for the Gulp Froglet, so 1 in 34 kills
I sat on my Azure Water Strider mount on the water in front of the small fishing boat, out of aggro range of the gunman and the 2 Frogs to either side. I have a rare announcer addon that makes a very obnoxious alert noise to tell me when a rare spawns.
I received the Froglet this morning, my 44th kill. Bufo spawned between 27 minutes and 1 hour for all 44 kills. Of my kills, 14 of them were solo. I was thinking that my chance to obtain the 3% drop would be heightened if I wasn't sharing that drop. I found that kiting Bufo underwater and continuing to kite him out to sea as I killed him was more effective than trying to down him quickly (after having spawned). Hope this helps if you're farming! I'm going to post this to the Gulp Froglet page too.
In the show "Courage the Cowardly Dog", on the episode "Feast of the Bullfrogs" there is a king bullfrog who attempts to take over the Bagg's house and turn it into his new home, as well as making Eustace and Muriel into his meals. His name?
Are you aware that its not how many out of how many kills?
RNG percentages mean that each kill you have say 3 percent opportunity for THAT kill to be whatever the drop is. say 3% out of 100 or whatever it is, chance for THAT DROP to give it to you. Not 3% of the drops or kills.
Tip for pet owners hunting Huolon when Bufo spawns: if you walk along the cliff on the other side of where Huolon spawns, along the ruins, you can send your pet to attack Bufo. Once it pulls aggro, return your pet to you and Bufo will sort of.... slide up the cliff after it. Then you can kill him up there, rather than leaving Huolon's spot.
Rare has hell for me, over 100 recorded kills on Bufo and no frog :(
As of right now, he is tamable... and ABSURDLY FREAKING TINY when you do so. Like, smaller than a battle pet tiny.
No doubt this is a bug. So enjoy the hilarity while you still can.
I've just tamed him now, and he's tiny! Like size of companion pet tiny! Not sure if it's a bug or what, but it's hella cool! I tried to tame another random frog just to see, and it was regular size. Now off to kill some old world bosses with me tiny frog!
The hunter pets that come from Bufo, Marsh Gulpers and Stunted Direhorns all suffer from the same bug since BfA beta. This comes from the spells Hex and Polymorph: Direhorn. The game's coding incorrectly sizes hunter pets that have the same
as the those used in these spells, and they are forever sized as tiny versions of themselves, because it thinks the hunter pets are Hexed/Polymorphed. It's quite annoying to have one of these attacking you in PvP as they're even smaller than battle pets and very hard to see.
Prepatch for Shadowlands "fixed" its size. It's just a normal frog now. Sucks, fun detected I guess.
Are timeless isle rare spawns still in the 30-60 min from last kill range?
If no frogs are killed, Bufo does not spawn at all.....otherwise at least in the morning when I wake up, loggin in and start "working" on the island, he would have to be there....but he is not, and surely no other player has been there inbetween...only if I kill a few frogs, it seems the spawn counter starts at all....
