I'm so sorry old friend......
He doesn't deserve it! He doesn't deserve it I tell you!
His ability 'Ravager' is a reference to a
weapon of the same name
which used to drop in scarlet halls (and is now replaced by the gleaming ravager). The old version has a proc which causes the player to channel a bladestorm for 9 seconds, hence the nature of the ability in this encounter.
They really set up the battle to really be a Epic end to such a honorable friend. How the battle plays out depending on stance, the constant adds, blades, and constant movement back an forth between said Boss and Adds will keep players on their toes. A perfect example of a Warrior. This battle alone IS amazing!
An did I mention you get to fight alongside Gamon!
Edit: Hands Down this was likely the best boss fight I have ever fought in my 4 years of Gaming. It was just as I described above. Perfect.
As an Alliance main player, I have only this to say...
Well fought, Orc General.
If you got here by clicking on the Siege of Orgrimmar sidebar, here is the version with loot tables.
Aw! But... I wanted him to be Warchief!
Sorry to see you go, General. I was proud to serve with you.
This fight and the Protectors one I have sentimental reservations with. Nazgrim has always been a honorable warrior and our Horde will be weaker with his loss. I had really hoped that he might take the mantle of Warchief.
We've fought side-by-side for five years. This is not something I'll enjoy. The horde loses one of its finest warriors, one of its noblest officers, and one of its most talented tacticians.
Damn you Garrosh.
First night of siege i killed one of my favorite characters ever..........I was up for hours after i tried sleeping. It was an honor fighting you Nazgrim!
Lok'tar ogar. For the horde.
For healers and DPS; Kill the adds. And for the love of God, get out of the way of the swirly blade. Basic raid mechanics, really.
Oh, and don't attack Nazgrim when he's in Defensive Stance.
I knew him since my service at Conquest Hold, he was still a
when I was summoned to do my service
out there on that new island (for that's what we thought back then) we became friends....
...I saved his life and pulled him from
that spooky greens in Kelp'thar Forest
and he returned the favor in the
...I was so proud on him when I came to Pandaria and realized who was
there, he had been promoted by then...
...and I secretly was hoping he might be the one to bring back glory to the Horde, to be an new and better Warchief....
These hopes are gone now.
Fare well old friend.
Apparently he builds rage when hunter pets attack him in defensive stance. Which means, as you can imagine, that doing this in an LFR with about 9 hunters was totally awesome. 5 stacks of determination later, he finally went down.
By which point, if the game had given me the option, I would have gladly switched to his team.
I like how his soldiers still wear the old grunt armor and not that of the Kor'kron! :)
He has 3 stances :
A balanced stance that generates 1 Rage every 1 sec
wild stance that increases damage dealt by 25%, damage taken by 25%, and Rage generated by 100%
A defensive stance that reduces damage taken by 10% and grants 3 Rage when struck. Rage gain cannot occur more than once every one second.Attacks by players affected by Sundering Blow do not cause Nazgrim to generate Rage.
When he is in Defensive stance
STOP ALL DPS!
only tanks should be on him in this stance.
Hunters, warlocks, mages take off your pet from the boss. he builds rage when attacked, wich means more ravagers
Adds are always prio, first Kor'kron Warshaman, then the Kor'kron Assassin, then the rest!
would have been more epic to have admiral Taylor join the fight
As an Alliance player I take your weapon and I wield it with pride. Not as a trophy of the fallen, but in reverence to your legacy.
There were only two orcs I ever showed true respect for. Rest in peace Nazgrim, for you were one of them.
Normal, Flex, and LFR:
First off, you will find Nazgrim in a room with a small mob of
s, and a large mob of
s. Kill the Ironblades first, since aggroing the Faithfuls
pull the boss.
Now instead of repeating what each ability does since that's already in the Dungeon Journal, I'll go through how to deal with each one, then discuss add mechanics.
They will repeat themselves in this order until the boss is down:
- The boss will start out in Battle Stance, which will generate 1 Rage every second.
- Nazgrim does more damage, but also takes more damage. This is a burn phase, pop cooldowns.
- He will take less damage and generate more Rage per strike. Note that players affected by Sundering Blow will not cause Rage to be generated. Therefore, no one but the tanks should be on the boss while he is in Defensive Stance.
- This is primarily for the tanks to deal with. They will need to decide how many stacks they can take before switching off.
- Healers watch out for whoever is targeted by this, as I don't think there is a way to avoid it.
Based on how much Rage the boss has, he can throw out a variety of abilities. Keep an eye on the Rage bar (and of course DBM), so that you have an idea of which ability to expect next. Avoid letting the boss gain Rage as much as possible, since more Rage means more abilities to deal with on top of the adds and therefore more damage going out to the raid. For example, Ravagers piling up would be a very bad thing. They may be slow but if there are a lot of them they will become difficult to avoid.
- The main thing to be concerned about here is the
that results from this. The AoE will be on the ground. It is a similar color to that of the ground and may be easy to miss but it is animated so watch for the movement.
- These are fairly simple. Just mow them down as soon as they pop up. They don't have much health, so it may not be necessary for all DPS to switch to them every time.
- Unavoidable raid-wide damage, so healers be warned.
- These whirling axes will basically hang around for the duration of the fight, do NOT stand in them; they will kill you very quickly. However, they move slowly and are easy to avoid.
For most of the duration of the fight, these adds are DPS priority over the boss, sometimes even during the burn phase. All adds are stunnable, however appear to be immune to
. He will start out summoning just 2 adds, but this number will increase as the encounter progresses, likely dependent upon the size of your raid group. Since the boss will stop summoning adds once he hits 30% health but will summon an additional wave at 10%, if your group burns the boss down
quickly, you may end up with too many adds at the end of the fight which will likely result in a wipe. This is even more reason to make sure DPS are staying off of the boss during Defensive Stance.
So, with that said, an add breakdown in order of increasing DPS priority:
- Melee need to avoid these guys as much as possible. Ideally your raid will have enough ranged DPS to take them down, however, they are at the bottom of the priority list when it comes to adds. Additionally, you may want to have the tank who is not busy with the boss pick them up if ranged DPS are having trouble kiting them.
- Third from the top of the list are the Arcweavers. All of their abilities are interruptable, so, interrupt as much as possible but give priority to
as it does more damage.
- Second DPS priority. Do
let these guys
you--make sure you are facing them at all times until they are dead.
- Top DPS priority
no matter what.
Berserker stance, boss at 1% health, whatever. The shamans MUST go down first. These guys will heal the boss and other mobs. Additionally, all their casts are interruptable, so that's even more reason to be on them until they're down. This is
to the success of the encounter, I can almost guarantee that if you do not place top priority on these shamans, your group
Don't stand in bad stuff.
Kill shamans ASAP.
DPS on the boss during Defensive Stance. Tanks only.
Don't turn your back toward the Assassins.
Ironblades are ranged only, melee need to
unless they are the tank.
Overall, this is an add management fight. Get your DPS priorities right, and you should have this encounter in the bag. Good luck and have fun!
P.S.: A note about Gamon. As of the current hotfix, if he dies during your first attempt, he will
respawn for subsequent attempts.
in raid finder at least, he doesn't stop summoning adds in between 30-10%
"I'll die someday sea-witch...
... but not today!"
Why did it have to be our fault :(
"What I did, I did without choice."
"In the name of conquest and the Warchief."
"But not in the name of the Horde."
I had high hopes for Nazgrim. I wanted to see him make the right choice and turn his back on Hellscream, but in the end he's a villain. I'm glad to have killed him, personally. I feel betrayed.
Regarding Naz'grim, a small nuance in the tactics must be noted that's relevant for Flex, Normal and Heroic*:
Naz'grim's fixed add waves are fixed at 10 total.
In normal, this is in the battle's final Berserk Stance, prior to the last Defensive and Battle Stance, after which berserk hits.
This might be an important observation for guilds that struggle controlling the final add wave whilst nuking Naz'grim, or aligning the last 10% with the Berserk Stance completely. Besides nuking him during a Berserk Stance, we killed him three times by:
control and nuke all adds up to the final Zerg stance.
using Battle and Zerg stances moderately to get Naz'grim just above 10% (13-12%).
finish off the tenth wave of fixed adds in the final Zerg stance.
slowly get Naz'grim below 10% during the final Def Stance.
completely control and kill the 10% add wave.
finish Naz'grim in the last phase, without a single add to appear.
*on heroic, unless you have the full Defensive Stance minute and are comfortable enough, you would want to skip steps 4 and 5. Just nuke Naz'grim once the Battle Stance resumes. You will get all five adds, but proper dps and execution will get you the kill.
As of 16th December 2013, Nazgrim sports a winter veil hat in Siege of Orgrimmar. Submitted a screenshot of it.
Since Winter Veil (Christmas event) has begun, our dear General Nazgrim wears a
! He also dropped that item for me, at least.
I am speechless, this is quite funny!
(I will upload a screenshot)
He's wearing a Santa Hat for Winter Veil. Amazing.
Is almost immediately avenged by the Elevator boss in the next room
Considering that him and Taylor have had so many questlines alongside each other and especially with the one in Pandaria where they really square off I would have liked it if you, at least as an alliance player, was accompanied by admiral Taylor for Nazgrims last stand (or at least that he made an appearance after the kill). That would have tied up their parallel storylines quite nicely.
Thralls balls, old friend. o7
I made an orc warrior named after him, anyone know if you can get his same armor? i've been looking all over for info on his armor transmog.
how does the group deal with his execute on heroic mode?
He's like Malkorok. Except Nazgrim defended the title of Warchief, not the man who bore the title.
We will sing a Lok'Vadnod in your honor General.
I am going to cry...SO HARD...when he dies.
Like, $%^& this. I'm actually angry about it.
According to the 5.4.8 Patch Notes:
"General Nazgrim no longer calls in an additional wave of forces at
% health on
this has to be the most FEELS fight ever in wow history ive played. :(
All of these comments are helpful, or interesting, but I have ONE question: WHERE in the city IS he? I got lost looking for him in LFR, never did locate him, and, as a result, didn't get credit for the kill, which led to a very frustrating second run which didn't even get past the juggernaut. So, directions, please? I'd be very grateful. ^_^
His voice actor is David Lodge, who also voiced Jaraiya... David Lodge also does the voice of Baros Alexton (Architect of stormwind). I believe before WoD Baros Alexton had a generic human voice actor. David Lodge Also voices: Teron Gorefiend, Seer Olum, Archimonde, Nalorakk, Grand Apothecary Putress, Eadric the Pure, Gorkun Ironskull, Lord Marrowgar, Captain Grondel, Cliffwalker, Hamuul Runetotem, Legionnaire Nazgrim, Drahga Shadowburner, Daakara, Gri'lek, and Fahrad. In Diablo 3 he also voices Tashun the Miner, and other generic voices. Let me know any other blizzard game voices he did, if i missed any.
We may see him again, although not as alive as we'd like:
110 Elly Shammy 801 ilvl
Pretty easy over all tbh.
Really didn't go through any of the phases. Just popped cds at the beginning and killed him didn't even really bother with the adds.
Will update when I go through other difficulties.
Killed him two weeks in a row on Mythic. He doesn't drop loot for me. Put in a ticket and they said they couldn't help me. Just an FYI.
Killed him with 2 other players, neither of us got any loot.
After reading all of the other players' comments i could say he's bugged.
Mythic: DH Havoc 894. Simply dps and i saw some said he didnt drop loot for them in Mythic, this seem to now be fixed cus i got loot.
Solo'd Mythic with 110 Orc Fury Warrior at new ilvl 171.
No problems whatsoever. Tank and spank.
