Wow, I can't believe it, but it's because of this guy that I'm finally replacing my buggy mouse.
"Occasional camera spinning like insane during progression fights? No problem.
Targeting going haywire on critical situations? I can deal with that.
Trembling in shoot'em ups? I like the extra challenge.
Moving too fast or too slow at certain points and causing awkward situations in more games than I can remember? Part of the experience.
1 optional mob throws a tiny little visual maze? Step aside, old mouse. things just got serious."
Brilliant!

A random Chipzel track should start playing when Hexos is engaged.
I'd make an addon, but can't code any LUA.

The first new competitor in Rank 8 of Brawler's Guild, added in Patch 5.3.
Hexos is themed heavily on the game
Super Hexagon
. He attaches himself to your character's face, roots you in place, and begins a 2 minute channel, casting no other abilities (or melee attacking) for the duration of the match. You can rotate freely and always have facing on Hexos no matter what.
Bright purple hexagonal patterns will them start to converge on you. If any of the lines hits Hexos, you die instantly. Since Hexos is always in front of your face, this basically means that as the patterns approach, you need to constantly be turning to face the empty spot -- just like the game the fight is based on.
This would be tricky enough on its own, but Hexos still needs to be killed, meaning that you need to perform your DPS rotation the entire time you're spinning to survive the hexagons. You basically can't take your eyes off the battlefield, so make sure you know your cooldowns and timers by heart!

While it's probably unnecessary to say, if you have at least beaten "Hexagon" mode in "Super Hexagon", you will beat this significantly faster, guaranteed. Only took me two tries with my experience of the game :)
He's MUCH easier once you get the pattern down; worry about avoiding the walls your first few tries (unless, again, you've played Super Hexagon). THEN worry about your DPS.

Basically, point the camera straight down and spin yourself with the the mouse while you DPS. Don't let the pink beams hit you in the face when they collapse inward. Took me a while to realize this, as I was attempting to steer Hexos through the maze instead.

You die if you're facing a beam as it hits you, and you're immobile, so you have to turn toward the empty spot as it hits you. It's Super Hexagon, WoW Edition.
Focus on Durmu as if he's the "player" during the maze. If you focus on yourself instead you run the risk of turning too soon as the purple beam shrinks into nothingness but still kills you.

Useful tip:
Going Tank and rotating cooldowns to effectively gain rediculous amounts of vengeance...... doesn't work.
His Death Plane deals roughly 700k to me in Fury, but going Protection with Shield Wall up, it dealt the full 1,000,000 damage. Someone at Blizz thought ahead on this one ;-)

Awesome fight! You need about 100k dps while you rotate at the same time. I found it easier to focus on the boss and guide his red target circle through the maze. Obviously more dps = less maze so don't forget potions, flasks and all that stuff.

yet another example of extreme frustration. There is no fun in this. Remember when games were about having fun? This could easily cause a seizure, or ruin your mouse. It would be one thing if all you had to do was defeat the maze line for 2 mins, then you win, but you have to dps AND rotate very, very fast. I cannot look at the buttons to click on my attack bar and rotate that fast. They need to slow the maze down by a lot. Until then, sadly, no chance I will ever get higher than rank 8 unless I can one-hit kill the boss.

If you're confident and familiar with your rotation, you can hide your UI with alt+z when the boss is engaged to minimize any distractions and just focus on rotating correctly and nuking the eye.
That netted me a kill this morning, even though my dps was obviously worse than usually, I was just able to kill him before the rain of fire hit me (105k).

To think that I thought Durumu the Forgotten's maze separated the men from the boys....
As a destructo Lock with Soul Leech I can take two or three squares to the face and BARLEY survive (as in I pop my lock rock right after). I've managed to survive the maze pretty well. My DPS is a bit lacking thought, sitting at item level 512 with LFR pieces as well as upgraded Shado-Pan Assault gear (530 Ilvl). I tend to focus too much on the maze while mouse turning that my DPS goes down quite a bit. I throw down a RoF whenever I get a little break in the maze and pop DS about half way through, when I'm full on embers. I still, however, manage to survive long enough to get my face melted off by balls of fire (Le 2 min enrage).
One thing I did notice that helps me see if I was going to beat the timer or not was his cast. His beam (that roots you and keeps him on your face) has a 2 minute duration. So if you have the health frames up (Normally bound to V) along with the cast frame you will see his health right above his cast bar, both of which will be right above his head, right in front of your face. You know you're doing enough DPS when his health is doing down faster than his channel bar.

This is a rather fun fight but there are a few things to be aware of and a few of my own tips to help you through it.
As it has been said the basics of this fight are to "steer" hexos through the maze of lights by rotating the camera while dpsing his health down. I was told you needed to average 100k dps for this fight to beat enrage but I found this to be untrue(my average was ~90k)
I found it helpful to be zoomed out and with the camera pointing down at my character to see the patterns more clearly.
Focus for a few fights of navigating the maze, after a few tries I could do the maze part of this fight up the the enrage timer almost every time and at that point I worked on upping my dps.
A big help are well thought out macros to keep the uptime of buffs high, especially when binding them to your regular attacks.
It helps a lot to have unit frames set up just under your character to be able to see debuffs of the boss, or anything that brings that information to the middle of the screen because you don't have many opportunities to look elsewhere.
Definitely prepot and use another pot into the fight because you wont be needing any health pots.
With only world boss, LFR, and valor point gear I needed every bit of help I could get. I got everything enchanted, took as many buffs as I could get, flasked, and used black pepper ribs with pandaren bonus for the strength. Even then it took a little luck from the rng. I was heartbreaking when I got him to 100k and died to enrage, but eventually I beat him.
Good luck.

A few tips I found:
- Disable your enemy unit plates, it clutters up some of the maze that you could otherwise be seeing.
- Create WeakAuras or some form of sound indicators for your rotation - 90% of the time I was looking at the maze ahead of me, so you'll really want to be comfortable with your class.
- It's not the direction Hexos' butt is facing but the direction your character is facing -- once I really focused on this the maze became much easier. You'll want to face the gaps that your character is seeing, don't worry about Hexos' position; focus on where you are.
- Play music that pumps you up!
Good luck!

I've completed this on my 515 monk and today got there on my 511 Draenei Shaman. I don't know if its being a draenei, the effect of heroism, or the combination of the 2 but it seemed like the size of my character would cause the boss to be off tilt, making it much more difficult to navigate the maze for me.
As a result even though I've already beaten the fight on one class I can't even get Hexos below 70% on my other class. I suppose going without heroism is an option, but I doubt my shaman would be able to make the DPS requirement.

Screw this fight, seriously. I have enough trouble as is managing my Feral Druid rotation in raid; having to focus almost exclusively on rotating the boss' ass through the hex maze while trying to perform some semblance of my rotation (Feral is heavily reliant on procs, bleeds, and proper usage of instant Heals for DoC and Finishers, not a standard rotation), that there's pretty much no way I'm going to down this one without heavily overgearing the encounter so that I can do the required 95k+ in the time limit all while not messing up the maze once.
This really feels like it should be a special optional boss rather than the first in Rank 8. I'm all for the Brawler's Guild; but some of the fights are so horribly gimmicky that it defeats the purpose entirely. Given the ultimate reward is a mount, it just feels too steep a curve in skill. Maybe that's just me, I don't know. But I imagine this boss is a major roadblock for the vast majority of people attempting to hit Rank 10 in BrG.

Took me 5 tries. I'm an Affliction lock so while the rotation is easy (CoE, Haunt, SB:SS then spam MG), it was impossible to keep track of buffs or whenever dots (especially Agony) are fallign off.
I could have made some ridiculous Weak Aura with big ass proc symbols but I stuck with what I had.

Ok, I know this may get down voted but I wanted to give people that had trouble with this boss some hope.
This took me a silly amount of tries, I did it 11 hours straight (6pm to 5am) and 3 days randomly. I was seriously in despair, I was lasting literally a second.
The thing that works for me is this:
No matter what you need to do around 100k dps on average for 2 min. Concentrate on surviving and then dps, you won't be able to do both at the same time.
Use the right click to aim the camera. When you do this the center of the camera is your priority, essentially the way your char is facing. The fact that your chars head turns and its body doesnt, doesnt matter. Only the camera matters, ignore the boss too.
When you see a spiral go immediately to the birdseye view, top down so you are looking at your chars head. Now spin the camera so that the direction of the CAMERA is facing the gap.
Now when a harder/smaller gap comes you have to change your camera to around 45 degrees so you are looking behind your character at an angle. Now aim the center of the camera at the gaps.
That's all there is to it. I couldn't understand any of the other tips and other people seem to only do it top down or at an angle. I found it easier to use both.
I hope this helps.

This might be trivial, obvious and dumb, but I didn't realize it, haven't see it written anywhere and, once I've figured it out, I've one-shotted him after MANY wipes, and I .
So, you know how you're suppose to face the gap. When you move you character with the mouse, it is not immediately facing the front of the screen, but takes a few milliseconds to adjust. I've kept wiping when my character seemed to face the gap, which caused much frustration. Well, here comes the "trick" -
DISREGARD
where your character is facing. Only worry about having the
CAMERA
face the gap.
Hope this helps.

Finally killed Hexos today as a 515 Retribution paladin. Took tons of tries but finally killed him with 101.3k DPS. We both died pretty much at the same time, while the fire was raining.
Talents used:

Glyphs used:

被烧毁的雕文
Last glyph I didn't see one that gave a definite advantage so I used
被烧毁的雕文
I pre-potted, and cast Guardian as soon as the fight started, quickly got 3 holy power then cast inquisition. A few seconds later I attempted to pop Avenging Wrath and Holy Avenger, but didn't notice I only hit Avenging Wrath. It wasn't until my pot was off CD that I realized it, but it turned out to be a good DPS boost half-way through the fight. It was that only time I didn't hit both in the beginning and the time I killed him, so maybe that was why. About a minute in refresh Inquisition if you used the glyph.
Good luck :)

Finally got this today after 5 hours. Don't let the people on the forums fool you this is as much about luck as it is skill. Once you are able to recognize the patterns you'll see that some you can just spin around continuously and others have you doing six straight 180 degree turns with no margin for error. And that doesn't even take into consideration random lag spikes and latency issues.
This boss also highlights some of the more stupid design problems facing the Brawlers' Guild. Finding and sustaining a rhythm is really key to this boss in particular. Having to wait 5-10 minutes between attempts just so other people can see you die within the first 10 secs of the fight is pretty disruptive. That said it's often worse if you have a quick queue bc Blizz doesn't reset your CDs (which they do after a raid wipe and at the start of PvP arenas). Twice I hit the enrage, a mere 500k from winning just bc my 5 min CD hadn't reset. I finally broke down and bought a terribly overpriced Dancing Steel enchant just to squeeze out some more dps.
So basically the key to this boss is getting a lucky string of easy patterns on the attempt that your CDs are ready to go.

------Elemental Shaman Guide------
This was the hardest fight for me, hands down. If your computer has less than 10 FPS, I'm not going to lie- you're going to have massive issues. There were 2 keys for me to this fight: Turning off my UI(You pro shaman should all have this #$%^ down pat, anyways!) and using talents to REDUCE the number of casts I needed in my rotation(So swap ele blast for elemental, and keep your elementals down.. echo instead of anything that requires pushing keys, etc).
Make sure your camera is pointed down at your character- I didnt have to be SUPER zoomed out(20 yards/30 yardsish), if you're all the way zoomed out you might lose track of which way your character is facing. Turning cloaks on for this fight helps, too since you know cloaks go on the butt-side of your toon.
Otherwise, I keybound LB, LvB, Flame Shock, UElements+EShock to my primary keys(R, Shft+R, T, Shft+T, F, Shft+F), because you're going to want as simple a rotation as possible, and be TOTALLY ON TOP OF THAT @#$%. If only powerauras were functional! *Sighs wistfully*
PS: IF YOU ARE A KEY CLICKER.. learn to not be before this fight. Or if you don't mind wiping 20+ times, now's the perfect time to learn to keybind play :) Literally you're going to have your mouse hand occupied turning him the whole fight.
I hope this helps, but the key is turning him successfully while maintaining at least 100K dps. He has 12mil HP, and you have 120 seconds to finish him off, so 100K is the minimum(I barely scraped by with a paltry 108K).
Once you get turning him down, you'll get this. Gear does play a big factor in this(and all brawl arena) fight(s). I did this at ilevel 510, so test on a dummy first to see if you can burst 100K avg over 2 minutes. If not, its time to blow VP on upgrades.
Good luck, and may the sovereign power of the Earthmother guide your hand!

Some people dream of Jeannie. I have nightmares of Hexagons.
Flew through rank 1-7 and this one finally proved to be a real challenge.
Edit: Finally beat Hexos today with 99,205 dps right at the berserk timer as a feral (you can be under 100k but not by much).
Tons of settings swapping, talent swapping and getting to where I was comfortable with my settings and the maze.
In case anyone is wondering, I have a standard 3 button Logitech mouse, not a fancy gaming one, so it is possible :P
I did a ton of messing around with camera distance and mouse sensitivity.
Find what works for you. Whatever setting you are comfortable with.
You don't have to be at max camera distance; I actually found I preferred about halfway. I also increased my mouse sensitivity slightly (interface>mouse). I usually run with my graphics at Ultra and turned those down to Good as well.
Minimize your UI as much as possible as well, I turned off all my bars except my main one to increase my view of the floor.
I also made a marker in the middle of my screen with Auracle (which I already used for watching my bleeds) that way I always knew exactly where the center of my screen was.
Make sure you flask and pre pot the fight. Bring friends for extra buffs if you can! Every little thing helps make that 2 minutes if you manage to survive that long.
Good luck!

This fight is challenging for any class, but especially those of us with rotations that can't just be "memorized", because you need to react to procs and conflicting ability cooldowns. Here are the steps I took on my enhancement shaman to go from dying in the first 3 seconds to beating the mofo.
1) Play Hexagon. I didn't think this would help as much as it did because the controls are so different, but it did help A LOT. Many of the patterns on Hexos are identical to the ones in the game, so being familiar with them will reduce your panic levels significantly. You'll also learn them much faster in Hexagon because, unlike in Brawler's Guild, you instantly restart after death.
2) Blow all CDs right after porting in. Yes, I lost a couple seconds on BL, etc., but for me it was worth setting up everything in advance so that I could focus when the boss activated.
3) Set up Power Auras to help with my rotation. Since enh shamans have abilities on all different cooldowns, I made text auras to pop up in the center of the screen to tell me what was available. Glancing down at where I normally have this information displayed killed me every time. What works on ordinary fights does not necessarily work on Hexos.
4) Prioritize survival over DPS. No kidding, right? But it's worth repeating -- when you're trying to get through a tiny little gap or spinning like crazy, just stop DPSing and concentrate. Then pick up the DPS when the pattern is a bit easier. I know I wasn't playing optimally when I beat him, and I sort of doubt any real human player could. You need to be geared enough that you can afford to make rotation flubs and still pull 100k.
5) Don't stop turning just because the boss is dead. It takes a few seconds for the patterns to stop, and if you die after Hexos, you will still get credit, but you'll feel silly in front of everyone. Your fellow brawlers should be looking at you with awe after this win, not pointing and laughing!

This is probably going to get buried, but just in case, don't stop spinning after the boss is dead. The pink beams are still active and WILL kill you. Continue spinning for the next 3 seconds or you won't get credit for the kill.

Putting this boss in the Brawler's guild is a strange design choice. Given the abysmal queue lengths during normal times, a boss that is so punishing and reliant on restarts seems like a strange thing to place in a queued encounter.

Was so relieved to get this guy down a few days ago. 516 Fury Warrior.
Tips:
1. Play Hexagon / Super Hexagon like others said. You may soon then be reacting too fast to Hexos' maze! Haha.
2, Anything that you need to use at some point but can't afford to click, keybind.
3. For me, I rearranged my UI to hit my most necessary abilities all within immediate finger reach without having to look. Of course you can catch the ability-based procs out of the corner of your eye if they light up but it's still pretty luck-dependant on having enough of a rotation to keep going and going.
4. Smooth framerate and minimal lag are IDEAL. I have no problem here but sometimes others do. Turn down what you can so that you can handle the maze better. Bad Internet though - not sure what to suggest for this fight other than be very aware of how perceptual your lag is in game when you play and try to compensate. Of course an outright lag spike and you're toast.
5. I found a mouse sensitivity 3/4 of the way up and the default max camera distance to be perfect for me, (didn't put camera all the way out) but of course it varies. Experiment a bit and see what works best for you ;). Top down view is best (it'll probably arc to a side once you start swirling a lot). You might run out of desk / table / hand reach room if you have lots of swirling patterns back to back...
6. Don't nick the corners! Hexos will still kill you.
7. It could've been due to the group buffs at the time but he seemed to be quite suceptible to Warrior Executes (more than normal damage).
8. Do your rotations and such until the very end. For me, I could very rarely have him below 20% when the fire lit (about 25 seconds' time until enrage). Don't despair if you see the fire below you and focus on the rotation (though the fire makes the maze harder to see for sure).
9. Practice, Practice, Practice ;).
Current stats on A52 are 5,150+ wins for him and 150 wins for us so I don't know if he's about a 2-3% margin of victory for all servers or just us.

Just a friendly warning from someone who's done Hexos a bajillion times, if you're looking to impress people with your skills or something, be mindful that he will sometimes bug out and not even latch onto your face. He will just spawn and put the beam on you, the maze comes at you, but even if you move your camera, you will still die. It sucks.

After spending to much time on this boss I came up with an idea. Since doing the right rotation to maintain at least 100k dps while moving the camera
IS
really tricky there had to be another way to do it.
Just yesterday I had a few friends over, who also are WoW-player, we discussed this boss and they had a few goes on my character, one particular was really good with the camera rotation and managed to complete the full 2 minutes, but hit the enrage timer due to lack of dps.
Then it hit me,
have one player controlling the camera, and have the main player of the character controlling the rotation
. It worked like a charm and we downed him on our first try. It may be the last solution to try, but it will save you loads of frustration and queue time.

Remember to keep navigating the maze even AFTER the boss dies. I was in shock in the moment of victory after I had just killed Hexos and the result was death by hitting a maze wall, and I did not get credit for completing the encounter.

"I" finally killed this guy after a week of trying and more than 1000 deaths it seems. I caved and had my friend DPS while I navigated through the maze with the mouse; seeing as I usually DPS with the keyboard and am right handed it's almost impossible for me to do this fight unless I learned a whole new way to play - and I'm stubborn...so no.
So, my friend (who maybe played WoW for a month) learned the basic rotation for my SV hunter on the dummy and when we were comfortable...entered the ring with Hexos. Not even 10 attempts later Hexos died by the hands of me and my friend. LOL I will also say, we killed him with the 77k DPS my friend managed to pull out of my 527ilvl hunter (who is capable of
much
higher DPS when played by a skilled WoW player). I did not look at the damage done to see if that helped since I have read you need a constant 99k+ to kill him.
Hope this helps - there is always a way!

Killing this boss is relatively easy for me... Not running forward into the maze after he is dead and dying is the problem. I hold both mouse buttons to turn and that causes me to run forward and die as soon as the boss is dead.
Edit: nvm. Stopped being a scrub and was just extra cautious about not moving after the boss died... Had to kill him 6 times before I actually got kill credit.

I've killed him twice now haven't gotten credit for it. When I killed him the first time I couldn't move at all and the purple laser killed me, not sure how I'm meant to dodge it when I can't turn around.
Second time I killed him it happened again, died by the lasers at the end. I'm pretty sure this is a bug due to seeing videos dying by the lasers at the end and they getting credit for it.
Pretty pissed off at the moment.

Reading up on this fight beforehand, I saw a few people mention that you should ignore Hexos's positioning, and guide
your
character through the maze. This technique kept seeing me die within the first 5 seconds, so I checked out some YouTube videos of successful attempts and thought it looked more like guiding Hexos's targeting marker through the maze. Tried it again with this in mind and made it significantly further into the fight, and had him down within a few tries. The first technique does seem to work pretty well for some people though, so I'd suggest watching some videos of the fight and gaining your own perspective if your current strategy isn't working out for you.
It's been said already but rogues, grab
Cheat Death
. There's one pattern that comes up that is
very
difficult to navigate, and having this talent gives you a freebie. The alternative talents won't help in this fight anyway.
Also,
Hear Kitty
add-on is very helpful for this fight - it plays incremental chimes when you gain combo points (or other combat resources) and a different noise when they're successfully spent. VERY helpful when devoting all of your attention to the maze.

Just some help for clickers like me. I'd suggest making a 1 button macro for your rotation, In my case I went destro and did something like this.
#showtooltip
/castsequence reset=target Curse of the Elements,null
/castsequence reset=target/5 Immolate,Conflagrate,Incinerate,Incinerate,Incinerate,Incinerate,Incinerate
/cast Chaos Bolt
It helps a lot, Just mouse click (Use left and right mouse click to move your camera faster) and spam 1 or 2.
I set up doom guard 3, Buffs/ Dark instability/Potion on 2 macro and rotation on 1

I killed him twice before I actually won the match as a Surv hunter, 536 ilvl.
How? Well, I dps'd him down to zero, I spazzed and then died to the lazers. The lazers don't stop the second he dies. So, don't be like me and loose it when you think you've finally won. Took about 10 or 15 attempts to get it done, but after the first five or so I got the hang of it.
I admit to being a clicker so this fight was a pain. I actually did it by button mashing. Yes, button mashing. I put black arrow as my first slot, cobra shot as my second, explosive shot as my third, arcane shot as my fourth and kill shot as my fifth. I'd also just click some of my big CDs at the beginning (where there's a two or so second window where you can get away with clicking before you have to completely focus on mouse turning).
In short, the fight would start, I'd click stampede, murder of crows and serpent sting right way, then continue to simply button mash 1-4 for the duration of the fight (until 20% when I'd hit 5 as well), all the while focusing mainly on turning. Just by doing this I got 130-140k dps.
Of course, with lower gear I wouldn't have been able to get away with this.

Killing the boss doesn't guarantee you credit until the pink waves are finished. I've killed him twice now and had the emotes for Victory, but was killed to the 3 pink waves following the boss' death.... keep doing the maze until all the waves are finished, or you'll be doing this a lot more than you'd like.

In case you're like me who likes to glance at your action bar to see what abilities are up, I found that having an addon (I used bartender) that lets you move your action bar helped a ton for figuring out whats up. Blindly smashing my keyboard got him maybe 60% before I died (due to walls not enrage). After I got the addon it was only a few more attempts before I stomped his face into nothing with just under 200k dps.
I do think this fight is a little hard to be this early on, but that's only because of its unforgiving mechanic. Also the fact that you need to get through the fight with nearly no lag because even the slightest big of lag and its game over. Once you get the hang of the maze though its fairly simple.
Good luck to all who are on this guy, or soon will be.
EDIT: Also make sure your mouse is away from your keyboard. I died a handful of times because my keyboard and mouse got a little too friendly and decided they needed a physical relationship :\

i read about how you have to continue doing the maze even after you killed him. it was my 20th attempt or so and even knowing that, after i killed him, i just ended up losing it anyways while trying to follow the maze. it was just like losing at any other point of the fight, but just frustrating being that close. i'll try using deterrence after i kill him next time just as a safety measure. not sure if it will help much. would also be nice to have over 650k health to not get one shot. thought about gemming stam and getting fort just to be able to make that one mistake.

Monks should take note that Dampen Harm reduces the damage you take from the death planes. If you have a high enough health pool, you can survive a couple hits with some lucky healing.
You can get out of the middle with Transcendence, but the fight just ends as it would if you failed and died.

Oh~~
MY~~
GOD~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~!
Finishing this fight made me dizzy for the rest of my day.
The setup:
Mechanic is simple, this boss will stay in front of your character the whole time. And you character will become the center of that maze throughout the fight and it will become a blackhole that keep on sucking the maze to it.
The rules:
If the boss hit the wall of this maze, you character dies.
If the timer's up, you character dies.
The Way:
All you need to do is to move the boss through this maze without touching the wall (the purple stuffs) by changing your character's facing direction and keep on damaging it until it's dead.
The Strategy:
Put the camera directly above your character's head.
Change your character's facing direction by simply using the left-click of your mouse.
Keep on pressing the buttons for your damaging spells.
Get ready to beat it and feel the dizziness.
With the strategy above, I one shot this boss, but as I was too focus on it, I feel like my eyes are both getting 1 inch closer to my nose.
No Kidding! PLEASE TRY THIS FIGHT IN A WELL-LIT ROOM! WITH RELAXING BACKGROUND MUSIC! OR Else, be ready for the side effects like me :(

I found I could successfully navigate the maze but never quite manage enough DPS to beat the timer. That's because I couldn't take my eyes off the maze for even a split second to see what was off cooldown or to check my cast bar. Even after rebinding my keys I still found it tough.
So I brought out
气泡老啤酒
and
馥郁老啤酒
and that totally turned the tide. If you use them, be sure to bring them out once you're IN the ring and not outside because they sometimes disappear when you zone in (I'm not sure if they stay up top or just vanish - I was too busy watching the maze to see hehe). Also don't bother with
薄雾老啤酒
because each brew shares a cooldown. The fight will have started by the time you can pull her out and anyway if you take any damage the fight's pretty much over.
Also, mages, I really don't recommend arcane for this fight. It's my preferred spec normally but since you can't take your eyes away from the maze, it's way too easy to run your mana down to nothing and pretty much neuter yourself. I went frost for this.
Edit: Like others have said, jacking up your mouse sensitivity helps a LOT - the maze is very unforgiving.

Just downed this bad mofo, about 20 minutes ago. My hands are still kinda shaky...
Took me about 60-70 tries with an itlvl 524 WW monk - fully enchanted, gemmed and reforged. Used flasks and the Brawler's potions, plus I had the advantage of an empty arena all for myself and was entering fights without waiting in line - that was I think the key for me to win this fight as my patience wasn't so severely tested.
Doing this very early in the morning is something I definitely recommend, as uninterrupted fights will make you understand your way around the hexes more quickly.

Having recently completed the Hexos challenge myself on my Hunter I thought I would share my own strategies that enabled me to do it.
I'm a casual player and only have the new Timeless Isle epics on me. No raid gear at the time of doing it, so my iLevel was fairly low. But when focussed on a raid dummy I can kick out 125k dps - more than enough to down Hexos within the enrage timer.
However, the problem here is that the attention is purely on the maze and that severely nerfs my dps, not not only am I unable to get anywhere near the dps, I'm also dying due to mixed concentration to the maze and buttons for abilities. I was getting nowhere and amazingly frustrated. I actually left the whole thing behind me for a while, but then came back once I sorted out a solution that worked for me.
Ok. The first problem I had was not knowing how to navigate the maze. Since the maze actually contracts right under your feet it makes it difficult to determine where you should point yourself. Latency probably affects the delay between when the purple lines of the maze hit you and when the server thinks it hits you, so this is probably an individual thing. In my case I found that by positioning Hexos between the purple lines was the key for me. If I guided Hexos through the maze then I would be ok - except my attention was so focussed on the maze that my dps would always fail me.
The solution to the dps was 2 things: Firstly making small macros to merge certain abilities together so that I could do several things quickly with a single button. One macro I had would target Hexos, trigger my Engineering gloves haste tinker, trigger Rapid Fire, Bestial Wrath and finish with A Murder of Crows. Since 3 of those abilities did not trigger the global cooldown I could string them together. It meant I could quickly get key abilties done very quickly with a single button.
I don't see it mentioned here, but you really only get about 5 seconds from the moment you enter the ring to when the first maze elements head towards you, so getting the initial stuff done fast is important so you can be ready to navigate the maze.
The reason I mention the importance of creating short macros to merge together important/useful abilities is so that you can reduce the amount of buttons needed to a minimum. I managed to reduce my button bloat down to 4 using the macros, whilst still being able to trigger them without having to move my hand. I put these 4 macros on the main action bar associated with keys 1-4 and then had 4 fingers poised over the keys 1-4.
The next key component in my success was an addon (there may be others like it, I'm not promoting this paticular one) called Tell Me When (TMW). This addon lets you set up assorted conditions and can give you a warning. That warning can consist of text, animations, or most importantly SOUND.
So I set up the conditions for when I would use my abilities. As a Hunter example (Beast Mastery) the most important ability to use is Kill Command since it does 200k+ damage. So I set up TMW to call out a sound when this ability was off cooldown and also had the resources to trigger it. I similarly setup the rest of my skills, paying special attention to set up criteria where my Kill Command would take priority over other skills. Each had its own sound.
Now the interesting bit: Another addon called Deadly Boss Mods has a series of sound files as part of its installation. These are 2 sets of people speaking the numbers 1 to 6, one male, one female. So I assigned the 4 abilities from TMW and selected the custom sounds to correspond to the sound files that would speak the associated number.
What this all boils down to now is that once I had discovered my personal viewpoint for navigating the maze and had setup TMW to speak the numbers that related to my abilities all I had to do was listen to TMW and when it would say "one" I would press the number 1 on my keyboard. Similarly TMW would say "two" and I would press the number 2 key. I didn'ty have to look away from the maze for one moment and yet could still deliver quite acceptable dps. I managed to attain the required 100k dps for killing Hexos and even did it before the enrage indicator (the firestorm).
It takes a bit of fiddling to be able to get the correct criteria on TMW working for your various abilities - the TMW forum has lots of prebuilts ready to import anyway - and you can test it out safely on a raid dummy beforehand.
The advantage to reading through this wall of text is also that once you've done Hexos you can use this in raids/instances as a means of simplifying your button bloat and paying a whole lot more attention to Deadly Boss Mods/BigWigs timer bars and the dangers around you.
Thank you for reading, and I hope you manage to beat Hexos. As most people have posted who did manage the kill; my hands too were shaking at the end as well and during the many many attempts as I fine tuned the experience I'm sure the paint was stripped from the walls with my shouting profanity :)

I never thought I'd be able to do this as a healer, but I quickly got him down yesterday as an i567 Disc Priest (albeit with a Heroic Warforged staff).
First, I watched a few videos on YouTube in order to understand the encounter. If you want to see the video that inspired me to try it, search for Sky Haven Disc Priest Hexos. Notice that she always steers Hexos through the openings in the maze. While watching her video, I also realized that you can continue to cast Smite/Penance while spinning around. So with enough DPS, this is definitely doable.
I changed my raid reforges over to Crit/Haste for extra DPS and even put a Legendary DPS metagem into an off-helm I had. You might also consider using Drums of Rage if you need the DPS. Glyph Smite as well.
When you start the encounter, practice it naked a few times. First, just focus on steering and surviving the maze until the enrage timer. I was holding down my right mouse button in order to swivel the camera from an overhead perspective. After you've survived the maze 1-2 times, add in your DPS rotation and see if you can still survive until the end. Then, when you feel confident, put on your gear and down his ass.
Good luck. The crit-absorb shields (or PW:S) can save you if you screw up the maze as long as you can still meet the DPS check (over 100k).

I finally downed this guy once I realized the problem: my mouse look speed.
Someone's probably suggested this already, but go to Interface > Mouse > Mouse Speed, and try slowing down your mouse...or speeding it up. Slowing my mouse speed a bit made the encounter seem much smoother...with a much more successful conclusion. If your mouse look speed is on the slow side, try increasing the speed. Hope this helps someone.

This is one of the more trickier fights in the Brawlers' Guild. Kudos to everyone here who have shared excellent tips.
The Mouselook API function would prove really valuable in this fight.
The Mouselook API enables the movement of the mouse to alter the character's movement/facing direction, without holding down the right mouse button. Kinda like third-person shooters. This API function can be called with the help of a simple macro:
/run if IsMouselooking() then MouselookStop() else MouselookStart() end
When used, the macro enables Mouselook and hides the cursor. Moving the mouse would move the camera and the direction you are facing.
Left-clicking would make your character walk in the direction they are facing
Right-clicking (or pressing the hotkey assigned to the macro) will disable Mouselook.
I hope this would help ease the fatigue of your mouse-hand when you're learning the patterns, as you can just move the mouse to turn around quickly and don't have to right-click.

Few tips that worked for me (~520 combat rogue):
1) Put a pointy raid icon on yourself, such as diamond or star, and use that to point your way through the maze.
2) I also wound up making a castsequence macro so I only had to mash 1 button the entire fight. Fairly easy to set up a decent macro as a combat rogue - sure not optimal dps, but it got the job done.
3) Once I was able to stay alive long enough to reach enrage timer, I buffed myself up with flask, food, Drums of Forgotten Kings, and was lucky there was a friendly paladin there to give me Might. Made a macro to blow cooldowns, brawler's potion, and Drums of Rage once I hit around 60-50% (I didn't like blowing everything at the beginning cuz I'm cheap and don't like wasting money, so waited til I knew I was in the groove and had a chance to win, rather than using consumables at the beginning just to die 10 seconds into it.)
Best of luck to all y'all!
P.S. Rogues, definitely spec into Cheat Death - will let you mess up once and keep going, and don't need other talents on that tier for this fight. Of course, my kill attempt I wound up not even triggering CD, hah, but helped a ton while learning.

For Hunters and all others using Meele pets:
Try to incorperate as much breaks in your movement as possible, since the pet will decrease ALOT in DPS when rotating wildly.
Last but not least, try getting in the Zone.

As a Combat Rogue, it's near impossible to do this without changing the actual way I play the game, and that seems to negate the point of Brawler's Guild. Never once in this game have I had to tweak my hardware settings to achieve victory in a boss or rare fight.

So for many months i too was stuck on Hexos and as many posts say about him i gave up the will to carry on with Brawler stuff.
But i had some more free time and i gave it another shot and thus continued the 90% wipes. Until i read about not trying to get your character through the maze but using Hexos as your guide.
Basically the mechanic is not as obvious as most believe, many believe you need to turn your character to face the gap this is not true.
If Hexos touches a beam full on it triggers the damage, if you look at your character closely they are in the middle and beams hit you all the time as they spiral to the centre.
Hexos is a few yards out and effectively stuck on your face. if you focus on him and guide him through the gaps you have a few milliseconds extra to react.
This also removes any problems certain races have with their turns speeds ( I'm feral have you seen how slow the cat /bear body turns on the spot due to the animation ? But even though the body is at an angle you still can be facing front).
Anyway most people should have the gear to pump out 160K(pre patch 6) plus dps from a good rotation. Simplify your rotation to 3-4 buttons. Ready every cooldown you have and use the brawler pots. Camera directly over the top and mouse turn Hexos ( not you) through the gaps. Doesn't have to be perfect i personally believe that both sides of the beams ( they are wire blocks aren't they ?) have to touch him, as I've spun him round clipped a few and nothing happened so long as i got him to that gap.
You need about 100k (pre patch 6) dps but 120k is nice, druids use force of nature as the Treants don't die and on my kill i did about 128k dps with the Treants doing about 9% of that damage .
Remember to breathe! and keep moving after he dies as the maze is still deadly.
I had many wipes before i changed my tactic never got him below 80%. i change and my very next try is a 10% wipe.... 4 tries later he's dead.
I went and got a challenge card to see if it can be done again and yes it can if you are crazy Smile with tongue out
TLDR:
don't focus on moving your character through the gaps move and focus on getting Hexos through the gaps.
.

I just dont have the reflexes for stuff like this. Stuff like Mario brothers jumping and not missing platforms I have years of xp doing. Maze games like this are my kryptonite. I feel my ONLY hope is to wait until WoD comes out, get higher gear and just blow him up as fast as I can to minimize the dodging of the lines.

I'll echo the previous poster who mentioned disabling enemy health bars. This helped me guide Hexos' body through the gaps. I went from dying at 75% to getting him to 5%. A few more tries and I finally killed him.
Keep at it. Once you beat Hexos the next few bosses are a cinch until you get to

^THIS item, if you were lucky enough to have grabbed it during the Northern Barren's escalation a patch or two ago, is wonderful.
When used, it shrinks you down to like 5% of your normal size, and the maze cannot hit you. You don't even have to move. Now unfortunately, you can only do about 1/4 of your usual damage, so when I tried using this a year ago, my ilvl wasn't high enough for me to down Hexos, I'd repeatedly get him to about 15% and hit the berzerk and die.
Fast forward a year, thought I'd try it again. 573 Hunter. Tried a couple times normally, using mouse turning, got obliterated (I'll blame it on my crappy mouse, but shh, it's actually my crappy ability in the maze). So, I used the Shrinka', 300 agility flask, 4000 agility brawler's potion, and ended up downing him with 20 seconds to spare.
Cheating? Maybe. Did I beat Hexos? Sure thing ;)
***EDIT: Confirmed - this item will likely not help those who are not using a pet or other form of damage created from other than the player him/herself, as the damage from the player is in fact reduced too far to overcome the berserk timer.

As of the current patch, Hexos's maze does just under 600k damage if you screw up.
In normal-mode Siege of Orgrimmar gear, that meant I could take one hit and survive.

For those who are still struggling with this boss.
My issue was that I couldn't correctly determine where my camera was facing. I found a glorious solution to it, after which I killed boss on 10th try (had 200+ failures before) So I moved my character box from addon into position like
this one
. Then I was able to see where camera is facing just by looking at right edge of box.
Hope that helps someone.

While adjusting the "Mouse Sensitivity" slider under Interface -> Mouse has been suggested, I would like to add that adjusting "Mouse Look Speed" can also be highly beneficial. I found myself overreaching with my movements, and turned it down to the minimum. A few tries later I was able to down Hexos.

After i got extremely frustrated with this boss i decided to play around with my options, i just didn't manged to avoid the patterns. After a little bit of searching i saw this "bug" where you could get as small as possible and are immune to the patterns.
So i thought i don't wnat to exploit it but maybe its size that matters...
changed my Tauren for a Pygmy Oil gnome and beat it without any Problems...

I don't know how it happened exactly, but there is a bug in brawlers guild.
I had my camera set to never adjust and turned off smart pivot, set sensitivity of my mouse to high. Someone else was in the ring doing the cat boss in I think rank 3. I targeted the boss they were killing and I hit both mouse buttons to move. I saw the light flash over me for entering and hit my ghoul, but then I suddenly ported to exactly where I was standing instead of into the ring, since somehow it didn't count the last fight as done. I got credit for the Hexos kill and moved on in brawlers guild.
So if anyone has any idea on what exactly happened, feel free to respond.

It is worth noting that putting the
Green Triangle Raid Marker Icon
on yourself is extremely useful for this fight, as the top end of it gives you a constant point of reference which direction you're facing and in my opinion is much more easier and reliable than paying attention to the camera, your character, and/or Hexos.
I'm honestly surprised if I was the first one to think of this, if this has been mentioned elsewhere please let me know so I can delete this or give the proper founder credit. If not, hope you all find this trick as amazing as I did.

For those of you who are confused by the other comments, watch this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2sz0mI_6tLQ
That's what you're in for.
I'm not even going to try. I'm going to take my Brawler title and walk the hell away.
EDIT: I decided to try. I died. A lot. However, the original Hexagon looked fun, so I played it for a while. After managing 80 seconds on Hexagon proper, I decided to try this fight a few more times. I also noticed a key discrepancy between the original Hexagon and this fight: in Hexagon, there's a hexagon in the middle, and you're a little triangle revolving around it. In this fight, you're the one in the middle, and if you point the camera angle straight down, you'll notice that Hexos revolves around you. In Hexagon, you have to avoid the walls; in this fight, you can't avoid the walls... but Hexos can. The conclusion? Everyone who says "point your character toward the gaps" or "point the camera toward the gaps" is wrong. You have to tilt the camera straight down and just
keep Hexos away from the walls
. Hexos is the bloody triangle. That's the key to surviving the maze: BOSS PLACEMENT IS EVERYTHING, CAMERA ANGLE IS NOTHING. Damage-wise, I popped Army of the Dead and Raise Dead before the fight, hit Hexos with Outbreak, and then just spammed Frost Strike and Obliterate throughout the whole fight, stopping only to hit Empower Rune Weapon once, and that was that.
Having over 760k health probably also helped absorb a wall.
Nonetheless, unless you are EXTREMELY determined, you should probably not even attempt this.

This boss is a reference to a game called Super Hexagon.
You can play Super Hexagon either on the PC or for mobile devices.
The game requires you to move a tiny triangle, located in the center of the screen, clockwise or counterclockwise, navigating it through empty spaces located in hexagons that move from the outer edges of the screen to the center. If your cursor touches a wall of any of the hexagons, then it's game over, and you must start all over again.
I haven't (yet) tried this boss, but I have seen it in action, and immediately knew what it was referencing to.
If you're having issues with this boss, then try out the actual game first to practice. When you can complete the first level, try Hexos again. You may find it much more successful.

yea, like the other people mentioned. Putting a raid icon on your toon is a LOT easier. Don't look at the boss, just look at the icon. dont let the icon touch the maze. that's all.
评论来自
Silvansaria
People are saying to put a green icon on yourself. Or a raid icon on Hexos... etc...
HEXOS - *is* the raid icon.
He is all that matters.
Not you, not those little icons.
Nothing.
Just HEXOS.
He is the one that can't touch the maze - not you. So when it starts its little rotation - and the walls start closing in - you must guide HEXOS through the openings that appear and make sure he is safe and sound at all times by rotating back and forth either left or right - and it has to be smooth all the way through.
Any jerky moves - and you lose, period.
The end.
Now the OTHER important thing - is you still have to DPS him down - while focusing on guiding him through the open gaps in the incoming walls by rotating HEXOS. Keep your eyes on HEXOS...
As far as rotation for dps goes...
If you're a clicker - this fight will be infinitely harder for you. If you're not - it will be easier for you to focus on the rotation of HEXOS through the gaps while you do your dps rotation because that's what you usually do anyway and you just need to get the rhythm down.
Other people have said have someone else do the dps rotation for you so you can focus on the maze rotation. That would make it infinitely easier if you can. Otherwise - ideally - you want to use 2-3 attacks in your dps rotation to attack him and stick to that. Simple is better on this fight.
I've personally watched people one shot him like it was nothing - and I've seen people do this like 100 times and still not beat this fight just because they can't get through the maze/dps combo...
In short:
-- Guide HEXOS through the gaps in the walls
-- Remember you have to dps him down as you do this
-- A simple attack rotation is best (as long as you can maintain a good dps)
-- Remember you are being timed!
Good luck.
Hope my guide helps...

Finally! After countless deaths, I was able to beat him five seconds before he berserked.
It may not be very significant for most players, but for me, this is a tremendous victory. Ever since I was a child, I've been burdened with vision problems and while glasses may have fixed my near-sightedness and astigmatism, weak muscles in my eyes cause me to have difficulty with tracking and aiming at moving objects. I did physical therapy for several years as a child to correct the issue, but it is still something I struggle with today.
If you're having trouble downing him, don't give up! I looked like a bobblehead in the midst of an earthquake, but if I can do it, I'm sure anyone can. And if you can't do it alone, ask your most dexterous friend to swivel the mouse while you hammer away at the keys. Teamwork makes the dream work!

I finally beat him...
Took - I don't even know how many times. But it takes concentration and focus - and NOT focus on YOU. You mean nothing.
The focus is on HIM.
Guide HIM through the maze while maintaining dps.
I have another post below detailing out the fight and what you can expect but it was down voted - even though it's spot on correct and accurate.
I don't care - not here for your stupid points.
I just want to educate people on what to expect, what happened, why, how etc so scroll down a few posts and read my post for more details on all that.
Keep trying - remain calm - and you will get it.

Seeing as there are not a lot of clear tips to this boss here, I'll make of list of them.
Bear in mind that Hexos has a 2 point strategy to him, these tips won't give you a 100% chance at killing him, but it does help.
If you are with a sub-par computer, totally lower your graphic settings - The faster you are turning, the better for you.
Aim smaller, the smaller you are, the easier it will be for you to guide yourself through the maze. Even if you are as small as a dot, use Hexos to know where you are aimed at - Items such as
亚口鱼油
will help you.
The more damage you do, the less chance there is you will fail. If you don't have high item level gear or just low DPS, use items which help you improve your output - The set up of items I used was
暴怒之鼓
The drums will give you that Heroism/ Bloodlust boost that you might not have availible.
The Brawler's Guild potions help. Here are the links to them -
拳手之狡诈药水
,
拳手之灵巧药水
,
拳手之武力药水
.
The Pi'Jiu brews are a real help. Out of the 3 types, the Brewmaster has proven to dish out the most damage
馥郁老啤酒
.
Another buff which can help you are the Drums of Forgotten Kings. They again give you a little bit more boost to your damage.
遗忘王者战鼓
Minimise the use of CD's. Gather all of your Cooldowns, all items within a macro which you can activate fast within the start of the encounter so that you can start off with the burst we've worked up to get without a lot of hassle.
Outside of in-game changes, you can also try a few things outside of it.
Make sure your mouse is moving smoothly, clear out any clutter under it, clean out the pointer and make sure it doesn't bump around. Be sure to also give it a stable amount of space. Since you will be swinging pretty much, you want a larger area in which your mouse can move easily.
As other posters have said, you can try getting a 2nd pair of hands to help you with this if you are having trouble with your rotation and damage output.
The Final tip is one which a lot of people have proved to be the most helpful. When you engage the boss, turn your camera to point straight down at you. This will give you a full look at the incoming
死亡位面
so that you are able to anticipate them easier.
Good luck Brawlers!

To echo what Ovinophile said, this is entirely about your hitbox, not Hexos's.
This is very unintuitive if you know and love Super Hexagon, which this is based on. In Super Hexagon, you control a triangle which is offset from the center of the screen, and it's the tip of the triangle, the point furthest away from the center, that matters. So it looks like Hexos is the triangle in this version, but that is not the case. It's your center that matters. I feel like that's almost deliberately misleading as a design element but once I realized that it was actually fun and he went down on the next attempt.

Got him within 8 or so tries thanks to some of the great strats here, however I noticed he can bug out at the start of the fight and not attach to your face and you'll just get one shot by the maze. I don't know if this was because of my imp attacking him before I could or what, but it happened a few times in a row and I decided to get rid of the pet. I also had some latency from the servers being unstable recently but I dunno.
TLDR Watch out for pets possibly getting aggro and the boss going after them instead of attaching to your face!

So I hit a wall trying to see where the opening was to rotate to, setup a simple weak aura icon that was narrow but long (think a line in front of me) and set it up right in front of my character.
Using that to align myself with each opening I one-shot him right after. Hope this idea helps someone else.

Here's how I did it, 558 Destro lock so your mileage may very.
The trick to this boss is understanding that Hexos and not you are the one you have to guide around. As you turn, he will stay facing you. You turn right, he turns right in a small circle around you.
It's sort of like running the maze for Durumu in ToT. You want to guide him through without letting him touch any of the walls. But that's where the problem comes in.
I couldn't do it with the keyboard arrows, it was turning way to slowly. Which meant I had to use my mouse. Thankfully I have a keyboard with hotkeys on the left hand side, so I was able to spam my abilities while using the mouse to turn. Those you are used to using the mouse to click action buttons are going to have trouble with this one I'm afraid.
Also, be very conscious of your health. If you have any insta-cast healing, put them on a button that is easy to reach. I didn't, and it just a fluke I survived the fight. When I looked up after Hexos died, I was at 47k out of 730k.
TLDR version: Watch where Hexos is in the maze, not you. Turn him so he "runs" between the purple walls. Put insta-heals where they're easy to click on.

5 minute fight
Tank steers through the maze for dps and healing, enrage timer at the end
Boss drops only dps and healing loot
Tank gets an achievement "So you think you can tank?" which awards raid level shield guaranteed
I know, won't happen with LFR and such today, but boy would this have been fun in the days of Onyxia 1.0

You MUST hold the RIGHT mouse button down to SPIN. ( do not let it go) I did not know this. I thought he was "bugged" as he was not following me. Turns out I was not moving either. ( insta death btw)
I was ONLY turning the point of view of the camera, not the camera itself. There are some very helpful posts on here as everyone rushes to finish before WoD, but none that said to hold down the RMB. For clickers or derpy people like me, I thought I'd share.

What finally did it for me was the opposite of a previous post, of course. Someone suggested slowing down their mouse speed....so I sped mine up. One shot. Basically my guy wasn't moving fast enough in a circle due to the mouse. Once that was fixed (and since I had been practicing for about 15 tries...) it was a one shot.
Things to note : don't try to do too much. I tried the Timeless Isle potions to summon help...couldn't see some of the lines. Their spinning kick blocked my view. Tried Bladestorm as a warrior, same deal, obscured vision. My best advice is just to get your spin down, and dps the boss to zero. KISS it. (Keep it simple stupid). Good luck.

I just beat Hexos as a BM Hunter (561 with 4 T16 pieces and 616 cloak) and here is my strategy. It took a couple boss tries to get my strategy all together, but there was no continuous dying going on here.
There are several strategies I found online about using disengage or a petattack macro that puts the hunter outside of the lines and leaves the pet in the maze to take the damage. They were older references and I didn't want to waste time perfecting a strategy that might not work any more. Besides, Blizz may have blocked it. I prepared to actually beat it. I learned a lot more anyway and it should improve my overall game.
Items Used:
1. Whole-Body Shrinka'
http://www.wowhead.com/item=97919
. It lasts 3m and the boss has a 2m enrage timer. This was by far the biggest boost, but I did prepare my mousing strategies in case it didn't work. The item is no longer in the game and was a pre-MOP drop. Theoretically, it allows you to never take damage from the sides of the maze. And who is to say it really worked. My log shows I got hit many times (20ish) by Death Plane for around 10000 Arcane each. I found the use of this toy from some comment when I last attempted this boss. But until patch 5.4.7 (can't find reference now) I died in the last 3 seconds of the fight after the boss died. They fixed that issue in the patch.
2. Flask of Spring Blossoms
3. Sea Mist Rice Noodles
4. Vimen's Bite
5. Drums of Rage
Warning: Before making any of the following changes remember that backups are your friend. Take screenshots of settings so you can put them back.
Movement:
1. I used my right-mouse to guide my character through the maze. The body doesn't go forward, backward or do any other movement. Basically just the head moves to face the openings. I'm normally a clicker because I just haven't taken the time to put in place and practice keyboarding strategies. I have many toons and trying to figure out how to have consistent keyboard strategies gives me a headache. After this experience, though, I might have found my path forward.
2. I set the green triangle raid marker on my character. It was a good idea from another poster and may have helped me focus. The flat side facing out just follows where the opening in the maze is. Another poster mentioned focusing on Hexos and aiming him through the open areas. Having a focus point may have helped.
3. I zoomed my camera back as far as it could go using the scroll wheel with Interface > Camera > Max Camera Distance = Far set.
4. I set Interface > Camera Following Style = Only horizontal when moving.
5. I cleared all entries from Interface > Combat based on tips from this site
http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/10342324136
. Good tips overall.
One-button macro strategy:
1. I created 2 macros based on the ones listed at this site:
http://wowlazymacros.com/forums/topic/beast-master-hunter-one-button-macros-newest
.
2. One macro has the burst of longer cooldown spells. It is listed on this site as BM Burst. I had to be sure Dire Beast was set as a talent. Thrill of the Hunt might be an alternative choice, but I went with the advice of those better than I.
3. The second macro I used from the site was BM Single. I'm not an engineer, so removed the line to call my gloves. I assume it was some professional perk added to the gloves. I also changed out the pet ability to match the pet I used.
4. I am a newbie who didn't know how to use such long macros, so I installed the addon "Macro Toolkit" from Curse. After I entered the macro, I clicked the Shorten button, then just dragged the macro onto my bars as normal. During dummy practice the macro worked, but I want to monitor closer in future encounters.
Talents/Glyphs/Gear
1. I use Icy Veins as my guide overall. The site I got my macros from had recommendations as well that I'm going to revisit. Below is what I just happened to have at the time.
2, Talents: Posthaste > Intimidation > Spirit Bond (I usually have a spirit beast out, but Aspect of the Iron Hawk might be the better choice) > Dire Beast (I often use Thrill of the Hunt) > Blink Strikes > Glaive Toss
3. Glyph of Animal Bond, Disengage, Mending.
4. I use Ask Mr. Robot to optimize my gear for a BM hunter and was all gemmed up, enchanted, and reforged.
Pet:
1. I used a worm and called its Acid Spit spell in my BM Single macro. It causes the boss to take more damage. In reviewing the log I did see this had 100% up time with Serpent Sting at 93%. However, I'm certainly going to keep using this macro so will continue to monitor.
2. I put pet on Ferocity.
Action Bar Strategy:
I used keys 1,2,3,4,5.
Key 1 = Drums of Rage
Key 2 = Vimen's Bite (pre pot)
Key 3 = BM Burst macro
Key 4 = BM Single macro
Key 5 = Master Healing Potion (just in case, but my health never suffered during the fight)
Practice:
1. I had read you need at least 100k dps to down the boss. With these macros I was doing 250-325k on the raid dummy. Skada showed I did 128k during fight. I killed the boss in 1m 37s.
2. I found a good video of the fight at the right camera angle (there are several) and practiced mousing to the video. This was probably the best practice and made all the difference.
Actual Encounter:
1. I tagged to go in and stood with camera looking down and zoomed back as far as it would go.
2. After entry, I used the Shrinka toy.
3. I used mouse wheel to zoom back. Since I was already zoomed before entry, I saw no change, so this probably wasn't necessary.
4. I waited for boss to target me. I did click boss just to be sure he was targeted though.
5. I used key 1, key 2, then spammed key 3 five times, then spammed key 4 the entire encounter while moving right-mouse to maneuver through maze until the boss died.
In the end...don't give up.
I hope this helps someone else!

This comment will get lost in the crowd, but I'll add it anyway because I hate Hexos so much.
1) Increase mouse sensitivity in the Interface controls. I was amazed how much this helped. It means way less wrist movement gets the job done.
2) Make a castsequence* macro for some simple/effective rotation and bind it to "1". Then you can just mindlessly spam 1, and focus on the maze. This was way worse than my raid dps, but it got the job done.
3) Practice/patience. You'll get it eventually.
*I'm a kitty druid. The macro I used was: /castsequence Rake, Mangle, Mangle, Mangle, Mangle, Savage Roar, Rake, Mangle, Mangle, Mangle, Mangle, Rip

as a hunter you may try, sending your pet to the middle (you can macro 'move pet command') as soon you enter, then feign death. Then open your spell book, target Hexos and use your pet 'Attack' comand on him, make sure he's got 'Growl' on, as soon Hexos chages target to him, you can dance n' spank him at will, he lights wont hit him

Hexos seems bugged in the current patch, at least for alliance (which I play). He doesn't move up close you, or spin around you as you turn, making him unhittable for the vast majority of the fight - especially for players with casttime abilties like myself (mage). I usually move to the centre of the the room before he spawns, and thought maybe that was causing the bug, so I tried standing still untill he spawned, but to no avail. Will update if I find a way to hit him.

As of 6.0.3, this is also currently bugged (like Anthracite). The boss doesn't move while you spin like it did in MoP, at least the few tries I did, so as a mage I basically could only hit him like 20% of the time.
There's also another bug where it doesn't even teleport you at the middle of the room, so... if this happens to you as happened to me in the last try... it's a free kill (because hexagons don't affect you, and it's just attacking a dummy).
It's sad the last few bosses are bugged :(

Second time I wasn't teleported to the center of the room but was rooted in place so can't pass labyrinth at all.

As of 6.0, hitting a "wall" now deals ~130k damage. No more 1-shots. I think it moves a bit slower now as well.
However Hexos seems bugged (I think/hope?) as he no longer rotates around the room as you spin. He sits in one place so he's only in line-of-sight when you're facing where he sits - making it pretty much impossible for casters and very high DPS requirements for melee.

As for 6.0.3 Hexos is bugged because he's not longer moving in the direction I'm looking..

Has been fixed as of 6.1, he now always faces you when you're turning around.

Being the masochist OCD achievement monger I am. I decided to get all the brawl achieves at L100 (I got them all in MoP). Of course this meant meeting my old 'friend' Hexos. Nothing seemed to have changed.. all the patch 5 strats above work. And I killed him in 1 attempt, 1:06. You may all now lavish your hate upon me.

Apparently if you use your DPS Legendary Ring on this guy, the size increase causes the bars to hit you regardless of what you're doing so you die pretty quick (quick enough for the explosion to happen at your corpse). Once I stopped using my ring I was able to beat him.

I found out there is actually a bug in this when playing as a female Draenei. Apparently his range get's all screwed up and varies if your model is a female draenei. This has been reported by other players but apparently never fixed:
http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/8892049883#6
After getting smacked a few times without much progress, I tried altering my model using a toy and then 1-shot this boss. Hope this helps some other female draenei out there. >.<
As others have noted, do not stop the maze until it de-spawns, and start in center of the room (otherwise you can get hit a few times before it even really starts).

I had hoped that those of us who got to rank 10 in MoP were saved from this guy. I honestly would rather have fought Millhouse Manastorm, Epicus Maximus and Disruptron all at once.
But I digress.
It's still as infuriating as it was in MoP. Remember to put your mouse sensitivity to max, camera from angling back when moving so you keep viewing from above. Settings to as high as your PC can take it for ease of Maze-viewing.
I recommend listening to music that pumps you up, like another commenter mentioned.
Here are some of my personal favourites.
Hey! Smith! - Monmusu ED full
Touch Fluffy Tail - Ken Ashcorp
Live to Win - ten hour repeat
Other than that, take a break if you're feeling angry/frustrated. Be as zen as you can, as silly as that sounds. Have a few laughs, loosen up.

Seems blizz made a ghost 'hotfix' on him. I passed on him with the hunter in the past with the feign death strat, seems he will target you even if you send your pet to attack him while you're feigned...

Monk Tips:
A mixture of
FB
&
Glyph of Touch of Death
can help to execute him without Chi cost and at higher HP.
The talent
Dampen Harm
can mitigate 3 hits, the hits are physical so
Diffuse Magic
won't work.
ToK
can mitigate some hits as well.
Xuen
can be a bit derpy and will probably be jumping all over the place due to Hexos' position and Xuen's hitbox
For Windwalker's, be sure to hit some target dummies located outside the Brawler's Guild, or anything, to gain max
TEB
before the match - helps if there isn't a line as well.

As of 6.2.3, the Death Plane ability is considered one of your own abilities. Therefore, it can proc multistrikes and do extra damage.
For example, I first got hit by Death Plane for 121569 Arcane damage and then got hit by a 43765 multistrike proc.
My conclusion is that this is a bit more difficult for characters who have much multistrike on their gear.

One way to cheese the mechanic is to nuke it. This tactic is RNG dependent both if you get the desired buff and if the mazes aren't too complicated at start. Use your
奈姆莱克斯·艾克索贝的最后套牌
at the start of the fight before the maze, if you get 100% crit of damage buff, pop all your CDs and Bottomless Potion and/or
狂怒战鼓
. That way you don't need to dance too much and just hit him hard. Good luck!

Paladin Tip
/cast Execution Sentence
/cast Purified Shard of the Third Moon
/cast Divine Protection
General Tip
It Appears Versatility reduces the damage taken (possible magic reduction too)
Macro are your friends

If you're trying to do this with the Legendary Ring in WoD or anything that makes you larger/smaller it will affect the way the boss reacts to the pink walls. I didn't complete this until I realized and removed the Legendary Ring off of my action bar.

There have been some comments about how the legendary ring affects your size, and ultimately how easy it is for the maze walls to hit you.
I just wanted to add that I had the same issues with the legendary ring making this difficult due to the size increase of your character. If you do not want to remove your legendary ring in order to continue to make use of it's damage, one solution is to get and use
亚口鱼油
to reduce your size before starting the fight. The item stacks to make you increasingly smaller, so grab a handful. I imagine that other size reducing items would work the same way, but the
亚口鱼油
is the only one that I tried.
Good luck!

This fight is complete BS, my screen won't zoom out very far even at max range, and with enh rotation it is hard as hell to DPS him and live, it seems the UI for the lasers is either broken or super unforgiving too because i face the gaps and still take damage and die slowly before the boss. i can only get him to about half health each time, all CD's and everything all because no matter if i hit a beam or not im constantly taking about 50k damage like im dotted. wtf

Just nuked him.Some useful stuff:
If you use ring,also use
亚口鱼油
to decrease your size-drink until you transform in a gnome.
Macros and castsequence macros are your friends. Here's what i used from retribution paladin point of view.
1.Opener-1press
/cast Avenging Wrath
/cast Holy Avenger
/use Thorasus, the Stone Heart of Draenor
/use Brawler's Bottomless Draenic Strength Potion
/use Drums of Fury
2.Targeting-1press
/target hexos
/run SetRaidTarget("target", 7)
/cast Hammer of Wrath
3.added dps-3press
/castsequence Judgment,Seraphim,Execution Sentence
4.spam
/castsequence Hammer of Wrath,Templar's Verdict
I was planning to continue with normal rotation after, but wasn't needed ;175kdps and he was dead in 17 sec.
You can apply this nuking tactic on any class.Good luck all,and remember: in prepatch Brawler's Guild will be removed,so hurry.

Screw all tactics, the most important part is doing damage without even thinking about it.
Luckily I'm a Retri pala, meaning I can just place all five fingers of my left hand on the buttons for single target attacks and press them at the same time^^ Doesn't make for good damage, but the important part of this ^&*!fest is survival anyway.
I recommend finding a way to do just that. Remove everything that would take damage away if cast multiple times, just use things that work in any random combination at least moderately.

I figured I'd post this in case some people are experiencing the same bug I did with this guy in Legion.
The fight started the same way as it did in the previous two expansions where he'll pull you with him to the center as soon as he spawns.
What he did differently for me this time around (due to what I'm assuming is a bug) is instantly turn you 180 degrees a second or two after he roots you in place.
From what I've experienced, if you attempt to mouse-turn between when he roots you and when he insta-turns you, the game will think you're facing the opposite direction of where you appear to be facing on the screen; your character might appear to be facing a clear space on your screen, but the game thinks you're facing directly behind you towards the pink beams, and will swindle you out of the match with the first set of beams because of that.
To avoid this bug, you need to avoid turning at all until you are flipped 180 degrees. After the flip, you should be safe to turn and do the fight normally.

Don't move your camera and don't hold right mouse button before the walls start comming or it will be bugged and you will die even if you turn.

LEGION UPDATE
Do not move! Just stand there and do damage!
I defeated Hexos several times in the last Brawl'gar seasons and felt like he is kind of buggy in Legion.
Everytime I fought him I died after like 5 seconds though I moved correctly (at least in my opinion). So I tried out to just stand there and do damage. This worked out for me.
Date I killed him: 24.10.2017

When the fight begins and he teleports behind you, don't turn around, he will teleport again and makes you wipe, wait for him to teleport back and then start to steer him through the maze! Hope this helps if you have the same problem i had too!

This fight seems to be extremely bugged in 8.3 and no matter where you point your camera kills you almost instantly since your Character is not placed in the center but a bit further to the side where it always gets hit.

This fight seem to be broken in 8.3, if you touch your camera at all you fail and get teleported out, but there's still a possibility to beat this encounter.
If you do not move at all (stand completely still when you enter the arena and do not even touch the camera) you can just facetank Hexos down until he dies.
You will get teleported into the middle having Hexos behind you, and then a second after you will get teleported again to have Hexos in front of you, just attack it until it dies, don't touch the camera or move at all.
Pretty sad this encounter is broken and doesn't work correctly, but kinda happy you can still beat it to get the Shirt.
