Rare Elites Guide
While Rasha is a new rare (and sometimes an elite--currently disputed) in 5.2, he is not needed for
. He is also not tap shared like the other rares on
Ra'sha spawns at the back of the little cave by the Eternal Spirit of Tharon'ja in Za'tual. He drops
Ra'sha's Sacrificial Dagger
but it is so far unknown what the drop rate on that is.
Despite loot being shared (except the dagger, that has to be rolled for) by all eligible, unlike the other rare spawns he is only lootable by the party with the tag. All members of the party receive loot though.
Respawn time was rather short for me, was waiting about half an hour for the respawn. Also confirmed that the dagger is not 100% drop.
I made a simple macro to target all the rares. If anyone wants one.
I killed him 2 times today. He respawns at exaclty 30 minutes apart. the dagger is not allways in the loot. it gives you tome of valor for 15 valor points and 1 stone you need
From what I noticed the new 5.3 rares seem to be able to spawn anywhere between 40 and 56 minutes. Ra'sha also follows this timetable it seems.
Feign Death, Camouflage, Stealth, Prowl, or Soulstone/Reincarnate are all ways to skip on the elite guards outside his cave; you will not pull them when you fight Ra'sha on the inside.
Ra'sha is soloable; just interupt.
The dagger is not on the shared tag table for this guy, it's like the normal rares. Expect some cutthroat behavior on it.
As a ranged class, you can trivialize the fight simply by LOSing his blood bolt. His AI will keep attempting to cast this spell until it succeeds or is interrupted.
People keep writing when it spawned, it doesn't have a set spawn timer. It spawns based on how many people are actually in the zone, therefore more people = quicker spawns.
As of this writing, wowdb lists a 50% drop rate on
, based on 40 kills.
Killed it two times so far, got
from it only, can't wait to get the dagger.

Killed him 8 times, gaining 6 data points where i killed him and saw him spawn the next time thus seeing his res timer. His spawn times for me were (in minutes): 45, 41, 57, 42, 44, 49
This gives him an average spawn time of just over
Once you kill his 2 elite guards at the cave entrance you can easily stand in the middle of the cave without aggroing either Ra'sha or the guards. This makes it quite easy to stay and farm this, as his bodyguards become your alarm system as soon as they respawn (on a pvp realm). If you afk remember to be in this middle spot otherwise Ra'sha will engage you as soon as he spawns.
2 dagger drops over 8 kills gave it a 25% drop chance for me, which given my small sample size is well within the error range of the current 43% drop rate on wowhead.
This NPC is a reference to Diablo-Lore's Tal'Rasha, whom imprisoned himself below ground, in an attempt to seal the evil which was Bhaal away using his own body as a medium for the soul-shard, which was stabbed into his chest, thus killing himself in an attempt to keep evil sealed away, naturaly like with Diablo's soulstone's case he failed.
Do not kill the Rares as fast as u can...cool down, minimize your dps and give to others to have the opportunity to take a loot!
For those of you looking for this rare, the posted location on the map may be misleading.
He is located in a cave (as indicated by the screenshots), which you can enter in Ighaluk Crag near where the skeletal raptors are. There will be two guards outside the entrance, which (as a priest) can hit hard.
Hope this helps people find him!
Killed this guy for 5 times now, still no drops. Maybe I'm just unlucky, or maybe the drop rate shown here is a bit off.
Did this on my Ret. It was not a difficult fight just odd with the mark of blood mechanic. I couldn't dispel it so I had to just untarget him when I got the debuff. It ended up taking me about ten minutes because I didn't time CD's right. I also had to swap to a different seal (insight) to make sure censure didn't heal him back. His damage is minimal and I was able to easily heal thru it. Hardest part was just making sure I targeted myself during the mark. Got the dagger on my first attempt so not planning on doing this again.
This guy easy to solo. All you have to do is interrupt his ability and pop cool downs. Did this on a 490 item level Enhancement Shaman. I can confirm the 40-50 minute respawn timer.
This guy spawned after 50 minutes for me.
I killed him for 3 times and he dropped
for 2 times.
Shorter version of macro (all in one):
/way 50.5 74.7 Progenitus
/way 44.6 29.6 Al'tabim
/way 53.6 53.6 Goda
/way 48 25 Backbreaker
/way 54.4 35.8 Lu-Ban
/way 58.1 35.6 Molthor
/way 50 90 Haywire
/way 36 82 Ku'lai the Skyclaw
/way 35.2 62.4 Mumta
/way 61.6 49.8 God-Hulk
/way 39.6 81.2 R'sha
Ra'sha could be the transcript of the hebrew word רשע, the adjective "Evil".
No idea if it's intended or not.
Very easy to solo as a 496 fury warrior. Melee hits for around 18k, special melee for 21k on plate. 1shot macro'ed him to 50% using:
Recklessness, Avatar, Skull Banner, Berserking (troll racial), Kafa Press (+4000 haste)
Dropped a tome of valor, the sacrificial dagger, and a ritual stone. This was my first rare kill.
Very, very simple solo for hunters. Whenever he casts his spell, interrupt him. If you are out of interrupts, use skills like Intimidation/Scatter Shot to allow for your Silencing Shot to go off its cooldown.
Enjoy your Emo-Knife! Or you could always pretend your pet was a demon and you were a warlock and you were mock-casting Hellfire.
I can confirm this guy is soloable by all classes as long as you have at least 8 windwool or heavy windwool bandages or a healing spell. The only spell that you should worry about is mark of blood. Just turn away until it wears of then attack until he casts debuff and so on. Don't think that you will get his dagger right away, because it still has a 49% drop chance. There is still a Chance that you won't get it. If you are like me, you will have to kill him 9 times to get the dagger.
So after killing this guy more than two dozen times and checking wowhead for his loot table, I have wasted 4 days trying to get the warlock green fire quest item. The quest item is not on his loot table and I can say for certain that with around 25 kills he does not drop it. The good news is that my warlock at around ilevel 487 in pve affliction spec/gear had no problem at all killing him with a void walker pet. just make sure to save your cooldowns for when he marks you instead of your pet because his self heal is nullified since he is hitting grape ape instead of you.
It seems that he doesn't drop
like other rares.
if you don't have any stealth abilities to avoid the
Zandalari Execution Guard
outside his cave, it may be best to just let them kill you and resurrect inside to avoid them. certainly faster than killing them if solo
Just did this on my enhance shaman, its a very easy fight had Ra'sha and the guards on me. Only had to heal cause the guards hit a bit hard, other than that as long as you interrupt blood bolt its no problem.
I had my first try at killing him today. It was not a success, because even when I got him down to 50% he just went back up to full health. Then I got to thinking ... it's weeks since I've seen anyone report him as being killed. I hadn't bothered trying him before because it seemed I had to go into the cave to see if he was there.
As of patch 5.3, he now drops
. Since he's fairly simple to kill, even with that damned healing debuff, he's a decent means of getting a nice bag full of crafting mats. As for example, my pally got something around 8 stacks of herbs from the big bag.
Cancel attack while debuffed with his
Die @ guards > Respawn in cave. Guards outside
protect against other player interference.
As a WW monk, the guards and Ra'sha were easily soloable. Just interrupt a lot (i.e. fists of fury, leg sweep, etc.), heal, some touch of karma and death, and you got yourself three deliciously dead trolls.
It is noticed that there is a link between the interrupted spell and mark. After interrupting the spell does not hang up Mark of Blood, if the next spell is not interrupted - wait for the debuff.
I noticed a pattern and interrupt all spells. Not a single mark.
Have killed him 4 times so far, Still no dagger. Stupid RNG boss.
I'm sure it's because we are too high ilvl for that isle by now but the guards died like nothing and I murdered Ra'sha, only interrupting him once at 5% out of reflex. Should be no problem for anyone who bothers to gear themselves higher than a LFR scrub casual like me.
Saw his skull on the map fighting another rare, went in and killed him. Dagger on first kill. Always wondered where it came from.
I must have fought a different mob. My 501 Feral snuck by the guards and we started. As everybody noted, he's not too hard except that every time he got to about 65%, he healed himself back to 100%. After three cycles, I just took off as I was starting to run out of heals & potions.
If he cast any spells or used any other non-melee abilities, there was no evidence of them. Somebody referred to Blood Bolt. He didn't use it. Someone else mentioned his "ability." What ability; hitting you? I saw no other ability unless it's not immediately apparent such as being able to bake a mean cupcake. Someone mentioned "Mark of Blood." Not in this fight. Maybe he was sick and the mob union replaced him with an understudy?
Maybe it was glitched. Ah, yet another glitched rare. Might be time to start a collection of the really rare rares. Just to be safe, check with a GM to make sure he's working before you spend the time, which you will not get back. You will, however, get a repair bill.
found him in a cave 40.2/80.4 its next to the right of the word za'tual on the map .I did this on my prot pally i lvl 529 and it was pretty easy one i figured it out , alternate using rebuke and fist of justice to stop him from casting the blood healing debuff and you are good if not as prot you many not do enough dps to nuke through the debuff and you will be wondering why he is not going down.
Cave entrance location is at 40.74, 80.11
I've been here for 4 hours camping his spawn killing him 4 times no drop :(
in shadowlands prepatch, the level cap is now 50 so current max level chars can use it again. I went to thunder isle to grab it but the rare isn't here... find it unlikely people are still on thunder isle and has killed it before me.
same when I went looking for the rare in jade forest that drops the 20sec banish item. both rares I thought only had 20-30min respawns, so I'm thinking prepatch may have removed these rares or bugged it? anyone else experiencing this?
He still spawns. I was camping him for about an hour on my level 40 DK. and the dagger dropped first try. I am able to use this at level 40.
As of patch 9.0.1 this guy seem to have a rather long respawn timer. I have had to wait for as long as 70min for him to respawn.
