A hunter with the appropriate skill (
) can tame this
beast. Note that the Primal Direhorns around them are 91, so don't risk getting your butt kicked for nothing.
Keep in mind that these are elites, and are also
immune to traps
, so plan your taming carefully.
This one has a light blue coloring, and is patterned with yellow stripes.
Tip for Priests looking to farm
These mobs can be rooted with
, and if you move ~30 yards away from them they'll spam their charge at you for the full 20 seconds of the root, instead of attacking the tendril. Makes these guys trivial.
To tame one, I used
Elixir of the Rapids
And I had Tame Beast Glyphed too.
I just received an ilvl 476 BoE epic from one of these after about 80 kills. Thought people might like to know. :)

As a melee DPS, any tips to avoid its triple puncture ability ?
- the creature can turn while doing it, so you can't just get in his back to avoid it
- the creature can move while doing it, so you can't move away to avoid it
- you can't interrupt it
- if you stun the creature while it's casting, it will do it again right after the stun
As a combat rogue, I've never been able to kill one of these babies without the use of Evade, which has a cooldown. Any tips welcomed !
For hunters looking to solo-farm these, make sure that you keep
up for the entire fight- these guys hit hard. If you are having trouble keeping your pet topped up on HP, back up until the hatchling starts to cast
. While they are casting it, run back in and at the end of the cast it will fail. This will give your pet a few seconds to regain health while the hatchling is focused on you, making for a much easier fight.
I tamed both the blue and the red ones of these. Don't bother to trap, but popping deterrence helps.
The blue ones are vivid blue with cream white markings NOT yellow as was previously stated.
It doesn't matter what color you choose they are all handsome pets.
Can easily be solo'd by a hunter.
Best way I've found is to have a tenacity pet on passive and pull at range with your serpent sting, hit it a couple times with arcane shot then with a powershot (if you took that talent) as it gets near. That gives you a couple more seconds of hitting it with at range for some extra damage. when it gets close again have your pet take over.
Then it's just a matter of having your tenacity pet gnaw on its face and hold aggro. You want it to be up close so it has no reason to charge you and send you flying.
Hit mend pet every time you have kill command come off cooldown and you should have no problem.
Note: if your pet does get overwhelmed and killed disengage with the narrow escape talent will trap direhorn hatchlings and young primal devilsaurs.
I just had to point out:
Greens drop rate is lower than Egg drop rate.
How much shenanigans does this warrant?
