This NPC id is for the Warbringer riding the Jade Primordial Direhorn
As of 3/5 2013, these Rares DO NOT use the Shared tagging system that the thunder isle rares do.
Dont be like me a get a tag stolen from you by a group of asshats
This'll probably get changed, but for now you can kite these guys a great distance and they won't reset.

does any1 got any clues how long would it take these rares to respawn after their corpse are gone?
Just killed this bada$$ triceritop riding troll, with 2 hunters, shaman and priest. pets tanked...we just a rag tag group of dreamers! watch out for the meteors.
Able to be soloed (Blood Dk). Just focus on dodging the abilties, and not letting the add wail on you.
For easy entry into your NPC scan use the macro below. There are 3 entries for the Warbringer because there is a different rare for each of the 3 mount colors.

Can we say OVERCAMPED, On Hyjal a couple guilds have these on Lockdown
I've learned the system to how the spawn works, Firstly the Dragon spawns, I believe it's some kind of pterodactyl and it flies above the camp. Kill the pterodactyl and about 10-30 minutes later, Two Zandalari Warscouts should spawn, kill them and wait, after you have killed the two Warscouts, 10-30 minutes later the Zandalari Warbringer will spawn dropping the Mount.
This shouldn't take more than 90 minutes.
I have tested this theory many times, and I believe I am the first to actually realise and note this cycle. Please test my theory and tell me if it's accurate. I would suggest trying the point in Dread Wastes.
I've been farming these rares with teams of people and solo for over 6 hours straight now. And I've found that they can spawn anywhere from 45min to almost 90min later from when they spawned prior. A lot of my 40+ kills have been in the 1 hour range and in time for me to move to the next camp and sit there to wait. Out of all of those kills I have only seen ONE mount drop and it was from the one in Townlong. Sadly, I did not win it. But there are always more kills to be had!
After trying on my Brewmaster Monk and Blood DK I was surprised by the ability of my Combat Rogue to solo these bosses.
Here's how I did it.
First spec into
My whole rotation was Shuriken Toss to 5 cp and then Deadly Throw, using CDs as soon as they were up.
These talents allow you to fight and snare them from 30 yards away. By extension you avoid the damage from the add as well as meteor storm. His front-facing attack can still hit you if you're not careful but you should be too far away from him for that to happen. Horrific Visage and the scarabs can cause minor problems but Cloak of Shadows and Smokebomb helped mitigate that along with stuns/interrupts/blind/gouge. A PvP trinket might help too.
Scarabs simply AoE down. I dropped combo points from Shuriken Toss into Crimson Tempest and then used sprint to make up the lost downtime on Deadly Throw's snare.
After the hotfix it is still possible to solo these as a combat rogue, provided he doesn't have the Tribal Mask buff. Just spec into Shuriken toss and Burst of Speed, alternating both of them while kiting him around in large circles. A combination of Cloak of Shadows and the 483 PVP trinket from killing opposing faction champions in Krasarang might help with Horrific Visage
Easily solo'd as a hunter. I dont mention spec since it doesn't matter. Concussive shot on CD and its a joke. Each of the 5 spawns either luckily or intentionally have an area where you can kite without mob interference right at the spawn. With 21m HP it of course takes a while to kill while you are kiting but nonetheless possible. Be sure to have your pet's growl turned off as it will only take a few hits before it dies. I wouldn't bother with traps either. I am up to 13 kills and have yet to get a direhorn, so it will take some time to get all 3.
Got the tag on one of these guys only for a Blood DK to pull it away far enough from me for me to get out of combat with it and get the tag for himself. There wasn't really much I could do about it :(
I was busy killing off other mobs as for a while I thought he was helping me out. Why must players become such selfish people for a damn mount, just be nice for once :S
Word of advice, keep it taunted if you have a taunt - and don't do this to other people. Help them out and maybe one time they'll return the favour.
Edit: with a patch update it seems like these have been made immune to taunt - which is great probably! It means things like those mentioned above should be less of a trouble.
i was farming one at the Briny Muck, an eliete a giant bird came first then 10 mins or so roughly came a scout there is an order

I just want to say -- please don't be rude about this mob. I just killed him with the help of my friend but while we were still alive and doing well, a warrior (on my same faction) started taunting him away. If people die and you want to give it a go, that's up to you and I don't begrudge that, but if people are still alive and you just come along and start trying to make him reset so YOU can have him.. really jerky move. Let people have their go and wait for the next time.
Edit: I'd like to add this guy is only on a 1-hour-ish respawn timer so there really is no reason to be rude like that.
The same happen for me with a warrior. He try to taunt him away-.-
I was killing this guy the other day in krasarang it was quite clear that i had the tag and a blood dk and his friend came down anyway and started killing it. I knew these weren't faction tagged so invited them both to the group as they were helping me ( not that easy to solo as a shadow priest ) yet they both decided to decline the invite i told them it wasn't faction tagged yet they proceeded to ignore me. After the mob died i got the loot and a lot of angry messages about "stealing the tag". Just a heads up not everyone is out for themselves on this game !
Hello, fellow "dragon" hunters!
Id like to clarify few details about these mobs.
First of all, they spawn at 5 different locations and all 5 of them spawn.
/way Kasarang Wilds 39.08, 67.13
/way Dread Wastes 47.47, 61.32
/way Townlong Steppes 36.53, 85.67
/way Kun-Lai Summit 75.09, 67.65
/way The Jade Forest 52.73, 18.99
They share those spots with lesser rares but they
spawn, no matter how many of lesser rares are spawned before.
are the ones youre looking for, they have a chance about 10% to contain your mount and they also contain +1000 reputation tokens to various factions and two kinds of containers, one drops crafting material, the socond one may drop ilv 440 epic gear. Lesser rares are called Warscouts and their drop is the same
of Warbringers is 35 minutes to 55 minutes.
The shortest respawn Iv seen was 36minutes and the longest exceeded 50minutes.
Warbringers spawn sitting on Triceratopses of various color and when killed have a chance to drop a mount of that specific color (remains to be confirmed).
There are at least 3 different mounts - Jade, Slate and Amber Direhorn.
While Warscouts are easily soloable, Warbringers are extremely chalenging to solo, especially for non tanks. I recommend you bring two of your friends with you.
Be aware that there are certain "ways" that can be used against you by other players while trying to achieve the kill. Happened to myself that a druid used his taunt several times, pulled the rare so far away that it reseted and his friend taged it afterwards. Also a group of horde players turned pvp on and waited till I accidentaly hit them with non-direct spell and then swoop upon me.
Took me about 8kills to get mine Slate Direhorn but Iv lost many attempts in the process.
Hope you find this clarification helpful. Happy hunting.
Advice to solo for warlocks.
Use a Voidwalker and make sure you have
and are in destro spec.
Nuke the boss from as far as possible and send your void walker in it will die reaosnably fast but not too fast to let you get between 5 - 10% of damage on the warbringer.
When the void walker dies use your
to get him back up and into the fight... again move to max distance. when
is on CD simply start summoning your voidwalker again when your current one is at about 25%. This should give you long enough to get a new one out and lather rinse repeat.
If things go wrong and the warbringer is getting close use
and move to a safe distance.
This fight will be easier or harder depending on the warbringer's random abilities but it is very doable and means you do not have to share loot. :)
Hope this is helpful
I have searched these comments for any insight into how these npcs are tagged and have only found 1 comment reply that confirms the TAG CAN BE STOLEN. I have had several tags stolen while trying to farm these mounts in guild groups. It seems the first hit rule does not always apply, this is very frustrating to me and my guild members, and quite unfair in my opinion. These tags have been stolen in quite spectacular fashion in many cases, particularly mind boggling when someone 20 yds away can manage to get the tag while apparently doing nothing at all but somehow gaining instant aggro and having this npc rush them as soon as it spawns, meanwhile my entire group spams instant attacks that auto target and have obviously gotten the first hit, yet somehow not the tag. If anything like this has happened to you please comment and share, uprating is good too, because I would really like to draw attention to this matter for the benefit of all who feel as cheated as I do.
Killed about 15, still no mount. :/
I have killed approximately 36 warbringers and no sign of a mount. These guys have lots of gold plus the bags that drop. After you kill as many warbringers that I have killed you get lots of insignias which give lots of Rep. If you don't mount right away then think about Rep and gold.
Came across one of the Zandalari trolls while questing and with help from a fellow pally. We managed to get him.
Sadly, classes with pushbacks such as druids and shamans will want to reset the Warbringers. Killed a few of these in a party of five with some friends, and some people just want to ruin the opportunity for you. If you are killing these or waiting for their spawn on the areas in Townlong Footsteppes, Jade Forest or Kun-Lai summit, be sure to pull the mob far away from the edge or else it will reset if someone pushes it off the cliff.
Zandalari Warbringer - A Haiku
Drops not what I want him to,
Don't be afraid to try and solo these if you're not a tank, as long as you have reliable slows.
Soloed one easilly as ret in 487 gear in townlong steppes using a kite method.
Yes, it took a long time to kill, but at least the mount is guaranteed to you if it drops.
tier1 - Pursuit of Justice
tier2 - Burden of Guilt (must have, high risk of death otherwise)
tier3 - Selfless Healer
tier4 - Unbreakable Spirit
tier5 - Sanctified Wrath (will be your main dps moment, hammer spams ftw)
tier6 - Light's Hammer (for the scarab swarms, and another slow)
IMPORTANT: If you are not a human, equip a pvp trinket for the fear, you will in most cases not be in range to interrupt it.
If you accidently aggro a scout or any other high health annoying mob, just keep kiting and running until it evades, and try to find another kite path
The one in dread wastes should be easiest due to the klaxxi buffs you have.
Hope some of you rets or other classes wanna try this :)
Soloable as affli lock... with Grimoire of Supremacy & Voidlord... keeping Curse of Exhaustion on boss and even spirits, renewing dots, channeling drain soul, to get shards and
keeping void alive
via SB:Health Funnel (made macro for this)... avoiding contact with spirits and scarabs untill they despawn, staying at max range to avoid fear and meteors... long fight but without any serious problems.
Good luck with these guys. On both my servers I play on, they're either heavily camped or getting a group is a nightmare. There are groups that stick alts or different party members at each spawn point, and the minute one spawns, they kill it and go back to camping if a mount didn't drop.
In the event there isn't anyone camping, good luck getting a group. I've asked in General. I've asked in Trade. I've asked in the two different guilds I'm in. One guild ignored me, but that's no surprise , but the other guild I'm in, with everyone online, chatting up a storm, and just doing dailies or what not, just fell completely silent when I asked for help. I go afk, come back, my guildies are sitting there killing the Warbringer.
These rares bring out the worst in people. I've already given up on getting a nice looking Direhorn mount, but, that doesn't mean you guys should, or behave like a jerk. I actually try to keep ads off of people who are either soloing them or in a small group having a hard time. I never touch the warbringer.
Good luck, hope you guys get a nice new mount! ^.^
Solo'd as a Prot Warrior, 487 ilvl. He didn't use the Meteor Shower thankfully, no mount and a good 10 mins of running back and forth from the spirit.
Just Solo'd one w/o the scarabs which I wasn't sure would b as easy w/o the scarabs for Victory Rush, but was still able to get it down with relative ease.
Soloing these guys at a ilvl 484 Brewmaster monk.
Not gonna lie... its stressful... and takes about 15 minutes
I am using
Breath of fire
Spear hand strike
to stop most of the casting.
Scarab ability- I never interupt this ability as it only takes keg smash and a spin kick no take these out.
Thundering smash. I will only stun this if i didnt notice it in time to move
Spirit - I will stun this as much as possible and if my health is decent hit it with paralasis and dont worry about it
Meteors- I will try to interrupt this but its not top priority.. these are easily avoided with a tilt of the camera so you are looking down at your character.
Fear -(whatever its called) this is my number one priority. he hits me for 50k to 70k while i am running around and i have wiped at 25 % due to not being able to do anything while he is hitting me.. for this reason i save Nimble brew only for situations where i am feared below 50% life.
Use effective rotations to max your chi efficiency. Use keg smash for the 2 chi and you have an interrupt ready now with breath of fire... use jab to build aditional Chi if he is not casting and either keg smash or power strikes is not available.
do NOT use keg smash or power striked Jabs if you are at 3 chi.. hold off.. wait till he casts, interrupt with breath.. then build the 2 chi so they are not wasted.
If you absolutley need to interrupt and you do not have breath of fire ready use leg sweep.
if leg sweep is on cool down. use Spear hand strike.(note that it will only work to interrupt Fear and the Spirit) If neither of those are available use Quaking palm... IF ALL OF THAT is not available you can use paralysis to eiter interrupt or to simply CC him.
IF you need to take a minute to recharg Paralize him.. but watch out for breath of fire or Chi wave dots cause that will put you in a rather harry situation if you need him stunned and he breaks it early. You could sit and wait for all your cool downs if you want.. i generally put him on pause for about 30 seconds every 15% and heal up and let things cool down.
Using this meathod even though he chain casts back to back i can interrups 12 - 15 casts in a row without letting him cast anything. the only issue at that point is the damage he seems to do the split second inbetween casting. Use expel harm when you are not at full health to deal damage.. heal.. and gain chi. use guard before lots of healing like chi wave or healing spheres. and take healing Elixers as a talent.. you will be using all of your brews so might as well get the free eals while you are at it.
Good luck and dont get too frustrated i dies 4 times my first time going around but now i can solo them no problem.. practice is key.
In addition to baradiel's post, I'd like to share a couple of tricks which i figured out myself, they can make your life a bit easier on this fight.
1. While kiting, try to stay at max range as much time as possible. Thing is, in this case Warbringer doesn't cast fear on you, which makes the fight a lot less random. Entrapment effect from Ice and Snake traps is really helpful to achieve this, so use them on cd. Tier one Posthaste talent is helpful as well.
2. A tanking pet + glyphed Stampede. This will summon 5 copies of your tanking pet with the same on-use abilities. If you use Last Stand for your primary pet, pets from Stampede will use it as well, and the effect stacks. This will increase your pet's hp by a large amount, thus empowering Mend Pet so it can keep it alive under Warbringer's pressure. I personally prefer to start the fight with this and burn all my CD's to maximize the damage output. When Stampede runs out, i dismiss my pet and start the normal kiting for the next 6 minutes, then repeat the process.
3. Binding Shot and Scatter Shot. Both may really be life savers in case something goes wrong and the mob comes dangerously close to you. Scatter is also the first thing you should use after catching the fear if your Deterrence is on cd.
Solo'd one of these just now as a balance druid. Took Displacer Beast, Renewal, Faerie Swarm, Mighty Bash, Dream of Cenarius. I dont think what lvl 60 one you pick will matter much, but i assume most will go with the default Incarnation pick.
: If he gets too close, pretend you're a mage and blink away or blink through him. This is also good if you're too close to him when he's doing a thunder crush and you can't tell which way it's going to go thanks to terrain and/or the bug where the graphic is facing the opposite direction of where the spell actually hits.
: You should have this anyway, but if you get feared or something and he smacks you a few times hit this to save yourself asap
: This is really important and imo the best choice, since typhoon has a 30 second cd, the slow from it only lasts for a few seconds, and terrain can cause your typhoon to not hit him. Keep the slow from this on him 100% of the time and between it and the occasional root he shouldn't be able to catch you.
: This goes along with Renewal; if you get caught somehow, fear or otherwise, use this in combination with renewal to keep yourself alive and to get away from him. THIS CAN BE PARRIED, so be prepared for it not to work occasionally. May try one sometime with the disorient instead and see how that goes.
Dream of Cenarius
: I feel like this is better than Natures Vigil because most of your dmg is going to be coming from moonfire and sunfire, and the heal return you get from those isn't really all that great. I also dont like Heart of the Wild for this because you shouldn't be getting hit enough to need to pop that and heal yourself. DoC gives you bonus dmg to moonfire and sunfire when you heal and bonus healing when you hit with wrath/starfire/starsurge, starsurge being the key here thanks to instant cast procs from moonfire and sunfire.
You'll want to use Entangling Roots on him when you can so you can get a second or two to stop and do some dmg with wrath/starfire/starsurge for toggling between solar and lunar eclipse to refresh your starfall. I usually throw it on him when he stops to cast something else. Interrupt his fear if you have to with Solar Beam but you should also be staying as far away from him as possible while being in range to dps him b/c at max range he can't hit you with his fear anyway. Kiting one of these and killing it as a moonkin will take FOREVER so be prepared to waste a bit of time if you're going to try this. I haven't tried one yet that summons bugs but I don't think they'll be much of a problem, just root the warbringer and aoe while he's stuck.
Since I can solo these as a DK, I've managed to quickly engage these and take them down, despite players on the opposite faction clearly getting ready to pull. (PvE server)
Always give them a /apologize or
once you've killed it. Competing for mobs is a real thing that does happen, and if you pull it first that's fair game, but it doesn't mean you have to be an ass about it.

OMG...here's an idea. How about HELPING the person who already has the tag, kill Warbringer? They're on about a 1 hour timer so the faster it's downed, the faster the reset.
Griefing, kiting, and general *!@#$%baggery says a lot for your upbringing and integrity.
FYI, these have recently been hotfixed to be immune to snares, roots and stuns. They just became a whole lot harder to solo.
over on the US forums, these mobs are now immune to Taunt, knockback, and grip effects, along with stuns, snares and roots. This appears to be done out or concerns that players were harassing others by taunting the mobs and causing them to evade bug/reset so they could tag them instead.
After a hotfix on 3/18/2013, as a DK tank, I found that these mobs will now keep aggro on whatever entity grabs intial aggro until it is either dead, un-summoned, or has an aggro-dump ability (e.g. - Feign Death). Also, they are definitely immune to Death Grip and Taunt, and their Fear is un-interruptable (but is dispellable).
While I was in-flight, our lock pulled knowing I would arrive and take over tanking. But once I got there, I used Taunt and DG, and I was NOT able to gain aggro from our Warlock's Void Walker until the Warbringer evade-bugged, and reset. Then, we had the Lock summon his Imp to ensure I would maintain aggro - even when I was feared (since I couldn't interrupt the fear anymore). In fact, the way the Warbringer basically feared and "pushed around" the VW, the Warbringer eventually moved to an area that caused him to evade bug. We weren't sure if it was a "leash" effect or simply a terrain bug.
I am not sure if they are immune to stuns and/or snares. However, I can confirm that the beetles they summon are still subject to snares.
I'm guessing, they made them immune to knock-backs, also. I'm sure this was done to prevent the griefing that has been happening to all of us. unfortunately, the griefing could have at least been partially mitigated had Blizzard made these mobs faction-tagged like the Sha of Anger and Galleon.
First kill for me today, with a priest healer helping. Wiped once when he went dps. Got the amber. He's mad.
Soloable as a Brewmaster.
Since the patch they are much harder but still doable.
Here are the abilities and how to handle them:
: This is no longer interruptable so you will take damage here and it is going to be a pain. Save your guard for this spell, it will soak most of the damage you take and you should be able to recover afterwards.
: One of the easier skills to deal with. Don't stand where the meteors land and you'll be fine. They do hit relatively hard, about 100k each. Thankfully horrific visage will not be cast for the duration of this skill.
: AoE em down, they don't have much life and they hit for nothing. One or two spinning crane kicks and/or a keg smash will put them down.
: Its a cone based spell. Just strafe key to victory. If you are feeling frisky, eat it for vengeance. Zen meditation will save you if you can't get out in time.
: Another easy one. Just paralyze it. Xuen sometimes likes to attack it.
: I have yet to encounter this in the wild.
Preferred Glyphs and Talents
Glyph of Enduring Healing Sphere
Everything else is your own preference. These are nearly mandatory.
Some other tips:
Before the fight throw down three healing spheres. These are your oh *!@# heals in case something goes wrong. You will want to be glyphed for them to last longer as this fight will take around 8 minutes in decent gear.
At the pull, get shuffle up and keep it up. This will keep you from getting destroyed. once you have taken about 10% damage use Chi Wave and Expel Harm. You will most likely use these on CD as the damage is quite heavy.
You will be tempted to use guard to increase your self healing. Don't. This will get you killed if the warbringer has
. Use it as the warbringer casts the fear for maximum survivability. If the warbringer does not have the fear, use it when healing. It's a massive healing buff while its up.
Since staggering damage does not remove the damage, purify it if you get near 9000 damage per tick. This will trigger
when done so try to do it when you are harmed if its up.
It will take a bit to solo and you will die a once or twice getting the hang of it.
Hope this helps! Good luck!
I'd like to pay a heartfelt tribute to the easily soloable, 100% mount drop rate, truly rare NPCs of yore. Here's to you, TLPD and Aeonaxx (and Camel figurines and Poseidus, kind of). Do you remember the adrenalin rush of finally hearing the NPCscan alarm, your mind frantically going "Oh #$%^ !@#$ ^&*! WHERE IS IT" and that glorious feeling as you tag the NPC and you
you're going to get that mount ? My lone-wolfish, badly geared Rogue self would like to thank you for the mounts, guys. It was fun.
And on another note, allow me to roll my eyes at PVP-flagged players on PVE realms, eagerly waiting for you to inadvertently flag yourself by using an AOE spell and shamelessly murder you. I mean... these guys respawn every hour... there are 5 independent spawn points... can't you just... go somewhere else.
Just killed one as a hunter after the hotfix.
Since we (or at least many of us) can no longer effectively kite the mob, i've decided to try a different strategy.
Normally, your tanking pet can't survive the Warbringer's pressure, but i've found out that under certain conditions it actually can.
What you have to do is:
1. Go BM and take a tank specced Spirit Beast.
2. Enhance its survivability as much as you can. For that, two T5 pieces, glyph of animal bond, glyph of mending, tier 3 Spirit Bond talent are all mandatory. In addition, you'll want to keep Mend Pet active 101% of time, so it won't hurt to set your pet focus and track the heal manually.
3. In order to maximize the benefit from 2T5, you have to maximize your own damage done. A Murder of Crows and Barrage (for scarabs) talents are really handy. Also, forget about Kill Command, Arcane Shot is your best friend on this fight.
4. Even though your Spirit Beast doesn't have an awesome Shell Shield ability of a turtle, it still has Cower. Keep an eye on it and save for moments when your pet is having a really hard time.
5. Stampede trick from my previous comment, while less effective, is still valid and should be used when your pet is about to die.
6. Bestial Wrath. Keep it for breaking your pet out of fear. Feared pet can run pretty far and there's a risk of a Warbringer being reseted.
7. Last but not least, the spirit add. It should never attack your pet, so take aggro as soon as it appears. Ice and Snake Traps, as well as Binding Shot, should make it trivial to avoid the spirit.
In conclusion i'd like to say that with 2T5 on me, my average item level was 448. My pet had a hard time tanking the guy, and even died in the end, so i wouldn't recommend you trying this method if yours will be lower.
What's the respawn on these guys? I've only found the Pterrowings so far but no sign of Warbringers.
Just thought I would say that these CAN still be soloed as of this post date by hunters. This is how I do it as a 502 BM hunter. This is after the hotfix that made Warbringers immune to snares/stuns/taunts, etc.
in tanking spec (I would say
is almost required for emergencies, keep it on auto-cast!) Tank spec is a must for
.(While active, Mend Pet will heal your pet more!)
Glyph of Animal Bond
helps a good bit,
Glyph of Mending
is absolutely necessary. Your third glyph slot is your choice.
Talents used: Anything goes here, but
is extremely useful and allows you to recover from mistakes or even hold nearby mobs without having to worry about them killing you.
Put your pet on passive. This will prevent it from trying to attack Vengeful Spirits. Take growl off of auto-cast, I find it creates a strange bug that flips a lot of aggro back on to you. Also, take
off auto-cast. Your pet will generate slightly less aggro, but this will also prevent it from pulling Spirits onto itself.
Your main concern here is making sure you keep
at all times
. Do not become lazy with this. It has a 10 second duration, so you will be casting this a lot.
to your pet to start off with and use
to make your pet attack the Warbringer. If you keep your pet on passive, it will continue to attack the Warbringer and NEVER switch targets, even after the Warbringer is dead.
Throughout this encounter, you will need to fight for your pet to keep aggro. Do this by misdirecting often, and
when you can. NEVER feign if a Spirit is up! If your pet happens to die,
and immediately begin reviving it. When it is alive again, use Kill Command, Feign Death, and Mend Pet in that order, then resume your rotation. At this point you WILL need to help your pet re-establish aggro.
On to Warbringer abilities!
is likely the least threatening ability to you for this entire fight, as long as you don't get hit by it.
is a fairly annoying ability to deal with. The scarabs aren't deadly to you, but you should make sure to AoE them down as soon as you can. Avoid using
if a Vengeful Spirit is nearby to avoid activating
If the Warbringer you are fighting has this ability, always save Bestial Wrath to break the fear on your pet. If it's on cooldown, use
. If that is on cooldown too, you will have to watch your pet's health and activate Last Stand if needed. You will notice your pet takes more damage while feared because it is unable to mitigate the damage.
can be a very deadly ability if not handled correctly. Two Arcane Shots and the aggro from healing your pet should keep it focused on you. You have to make sure these don't hit your pet at all.
is the deadliest ability a Warbringer can have for this solo fight. It's a waste of time and energy to try and maneuver your pet away from all the meteors, so let it eat them. If it's health drops to ~25%, you will want to activate Last Stand.
Item level should not matter too much. Keep in mind though, your ability to heal your pet is dependent on how much health it has, which increases as your health increases, which is mainly dependent on your gear. Good luck with your mount drop! I hope this comment helps you!
I think they changed the drop rate..used to drop every time. i been in 4 groups today on my alt and never dropped once. i hear other people say the same thng
As a forsaken undead blood death knight, these are fairly easy to solo.
Just remember to pop your
when you see him cast the fear... "the preventing application of harmful magical effects." part of your shell works for the fear too!
if it's on cooldown, your
can dispel the fear effect.
If you avoid the Vengeful spirits, and don't get hit by too many meteors, you should even be able to take the Thunder crush like a real man!
Don't even worry about the scarabs.
A new haiku! To represent the changes to the creature. (No longer slowable, kiteable, interuptable.) thus making them near enough unsoloable.
Troll sat in the Wilds
No soloers killing him.
This totally sucks.
Blizzard fixed this mob - can not be solod again
i say -> no
i made a video: youtube.com/watch?v=zj8WJfp9nx0&feature=youtu.be
I can't for my life understand how this can be soloed by a priest. Sure, I only have ilvl 456, but he two-shotted me twice (tried twice) and didn't do much damage to him at all. Not much time to kite him around either. Anyone have a solution for a weakli... I mean priest?
Very easily soloed by a 501 ilvl blood dk, I found Anti-Magic Shell, Lichbourne and Desecrated Ground to be of enormous help with getting rid of the fears although it's entirely possible just to eat them up, the only 'annoying' part is that it takes about 10-13 minutes to kill. I can't really complain as I get 3k rep which is about 4 days worth of dailies.
Just a question: anyone else noticed the jade warbringers are more rare than the others? Maybe it's just me, but I killed 68 warbringers, around 45 of them were riding an amber mount, around 15 a slate mount and only around 8 a jade mount.
The drop rate is not bad at all (5%), but if this is the level of distribution, a jade one will be hard as well, as it takes way more time than usual to find 20 of them.
Very easily soloable for a warlock as Destruction. a few tips...
Use GoSup for the void lord, turn off his taunt.
Pick up Soul Link, make sure its always on.
Keep your range so you don't have to worry about the meteors, and always keep RoF on the boss. You want to do this for if he summons a spirit it chases after you instead of meleeing your pet for a crap ton of dmg (they move slow super easy to kite) than just use EmberTap to keep yourself and pet up ...its really easy enjoy the loot fellow locks! As a ilvl 495 Destro lock I average about 70-80k dps and solo these down in a little under 5 min.
NOTE: If he fears your pet make sure your pet attacks him after he's out of the fear, by this I mean don't try to make your pet follow you while he's in the fear to re-posistion, I have found that if your pet goes x amount of time without attack he looses all threat and then its GG to your face as the warbringer runs at you lol. So if reposistioning after a fear make sure your pet breaks out of fear -> Attacks a few a times than move the pet a bit, then stop attack, move and so on.
For those craving warlocks out there this can still be soloed post-cc nerf. The fight is very easy as Destro with good gear but can also be done as Afflic with pretty much any gear. Took me several pulls to get the tac spot on for Afflic but with a little patience and careful usage of Soul Shards its still doable.
1) Use GoSup and Soul Leech Talents.
2) Use Glyph of Demon Training (and Glyph of Curse of Exhaustion as Affliction).
3) Use Voidlord to tank.
The Warbringer has 21M hp. Each Warbringer will spawn with 4-5 buffs which will each grant him a specific ability. All of these can easily be countered (and the scarab one is very important for Affliction soloing).
Thunder Crush: Easiest of all the abilities to deal with. Its a frontal cone that your pet shrugs off so just don't be in front of the Warbringer for you to avoid it.
Meteor Shower: Second easiest of all the abilities. Just a 10 second shower of meteors. Just move from where they are about to land to avoid them.
Horrific Visage: Fear cast on his current target (your Voidlord). Nothing special to worry about, however do be careful that your pet doesn't pull 1) the Warscouts if they're up or 2) the Pterodactyl if its there.
Vengeful Spirit: These hit hard, and when I say hard, I mean freight train hard. 200k+ a hit. You NEED them to aggro onto you so you can kite them (made easier as Affliction using CoEx). If for some reason they get aggro on your Voidlord you have to get him out of there or theres a good chance he'll die. Make sure your Voidlord is on passive and has taunt off before the fight so that when your send him to attack the Warbringer he will stay on him and him alone for the rest of the encounter.
Scarab Swarm: Spawns like 10 scarabs will deal minor melee damage. These are you primary source of Soul Shard regeneration for Affliction. A SoC will take them all to low health, then you can Drain Soul when needed to gain all 4 shards back. If you don't have the scarab ability you can pull surrounding mobs to gain souls that way. As a last resort, you can also simply Drain Soul the Warbringer to gain shards. As Destro, Rain of Fire destroys them all pretty fast.
Keeping your pet alive
The Warbringer hits very hard on your Voidlord. 60k+ normal melee, 120k+ crits.. If you're pet dies its game over. Even if you summon a new one it becomes very difficult for your Voidlord to permanently re-establish aggro due to taunt immunity and you will eventually just be killed by the him. Defeating this encounter is all about Soul Shard management in order to keep your pet alive. As long as you have Soul Shards, you're Voidlord won't die. In general, when your pet reaches about half health you should always Soulburn: Health Funnel regardless of what you're doing. This empowered health funnel instantly heals your pet for 36% of its health (and can crit) and also reduces damage taken by 30% for 10 seconds. You can also use it at any other time you wish to heal your pet. Don't be too conservative when it comes to heals. The majority of your Soul Shards will be going towards Soulburn: Health Funnel so don't waste them pointlessly. You will also need to gain as many Soul Shards throughout the encounter as possible to keep supplies up by Drain Souling scarabs etc.
Simply put, don't let CoE, UA, Corrup or Agony ever fall off. Even if you're busy dealing with the buff abilities or healing your pet, these DoTs ensure the Warbringer's health is always going down. In terms of priorities however, dealing damage is bottom after ensuring pet survival and dealing with the buff abilities. Keep up the damage and use Dark Soul/ Doomguard on Cooldown and he will eventually die.
Use Voidlord to tank. Make sure he is on passive and has taunt off when you send him in to avoid him getting aggro on spirits. Always heal him using Soulburn: Health funnel when needed. Don't waste Soul Shards on anything else. When the scarabs spawn, SoC and use Drain Soul to replenish shards. Fel Flame the spirit when it appears and stick a Curse of Exhaustion on it to kite it. Keep DoTs up on Warbringer always and use Malefic Grasp when nothing else to do for more damage. Keep it up and he'll eventually die.
This fight is exceptionally easy as Destro and good gear. Take the Soul Link talent and use Voidlord to tank. Make sure he is on passive and has taunt off when you send him in to avoid him getting aggro on spirits. Then all you do is use Ember Tap to heal yourself/your pet. Keep Rain of Fire up to get aggro of the spirit and kill the scarabs and simply kite the spirit whilst dpsing.
Good luck Warlocks <3
ok.... as a level 89 fire mage you can kite him xD
Was in Kun-Lai with my GF (Disci Priest) to kill some Warscouts. He spawned and she wanted to try him. So i run a big circle around the stones and used Living Bomb, Scorch and Inferno blast (with pyro procs inbetween). Everytime she got the aggro she run out of range so he came back to me.
If he came close to me i used blink.
The good think was, he used Meteor, Spirit, Scarabs and the ground thing so he had to stop to cast.
Took us 10 minutes (a cat and a monk tried to help and run behind him^^ ) to finally kill him.
forgot... he gave 730k exp (rested) on kill. Scarabs give 216 (rested) on kill :D
Yup got my jade in dread waste. and it was really by accident lol. Me a hunter and a DK tank took him down one try. when the loot table came open i fell out of my chair rolled a 99 DK rolled a 98. I was ecstatic. But u all complain about people taunting ur kills away. play on a PVP server. they will wait for u to almost kill it all the way them gank u and finish the kill for the win. this has happened more times than i've killed elites. but yes Jade mount fell from jade elite.
I´ve been soloing these on my hunter for couple days now and so far had only one mount (Amber). I killed them in various groups before I realised they can be soloed and saw 4 mounts drop (lost all :/). In group +20 and solo +40, drop rate goes down when they´re soloed? :D
Just to throw something in here.. If you put fear ward on the tank, the tank never gets feared. I was farming them with a monk friend on my spriest, I put fear ward on him and I was the one who was being feared.
Anyone else having rng problems with these? 172 kills, amber mount dropped on 6th kill, was solo, slate mount at 29th kill, was solo, amber mount at 68th, was 2-man, amber mount at 150th, was 2-man, who ever saw a jade?
For a 5% drop rate, statistically there should be 8 or 9 drops so far, and not 4, but yes, of 4 there's a decent chance to get multiple.
251 kills to get an onyxian drake dropped (was solo), but that one is 1% and originally was 0,3%; I must say I'm REALLY surprised to have a so hard time hunting 5% mounts...
A very easy strategy for Warlocks solo'ing these guys:
Picking the talent combination of
not only doubles the potency of Soul Leech, but also reduces the spike damage making it almost trivial.
I choice destro as spec for the self heals. Use your Voidlord to tank but make sure to turn his taunt off (
ON, however). This is to prevent the Voidlord from taunting the Vengeful Spirit.
As for rotation, use your basic destro rotation. Make sure to have
up when the Vengeful Spirit spawns, so it goes for you as soon as it's spawned. It is easy to avoid, but it's a hassle to keep moving your pet if he has agro. Because you've disabled your pet taunt, he'll also leave the Spirit alone.
You'll be spending most of your Embers on
. You can use the glyph to increase the healing a bit, but I prefer not to, so I can chain cast it when i'm going low on hp. Have a Healthstone ready when needed.
The fight will take a while but is generally very easy using this tactic. I was able to pull this off pretty easily with itemlevel 498.
Soloable as a prot warrior. Just make sure you have second wind and pool rage for barriers if you drop to ~15% health to let your second wind bring you back up. 21million hp is a lot to burn through, so prepare for a long fight. Each warbringer will have 4 of the 5 abilities listed below, but every combination is possible to defeat.
Here's how to avoid his abilities:
: Wide cone aoe, hits for significant damage. Will kill you if you're at second wind threshhold if you are undergeared unless you use a cooldown/barrier. Easiest way to avoid is to use heroic leap (with glyph, it should be up every time) or run straight through boss, unless a vengeful spirit is there. Sometimes, running out sideways won't work due to latency, standing in a wider area of the cone because of kiting, or the graphic not showing due to terrain.
: Summons an add with ~3million HP. Hits for around 50k on plate. Tanking this and the boss will almost certainly kill you. The add moves slowly and eventually despawns so kite around until it leaves.
: Meteors fall from the sky, hitting for ~125k each. Easiest way to avoid these is to zoom out the camera and have it point straight down at your character. Strafe and run out of the way as they fall.
: Summons several weak scarabs. Simply thunderclap and let your deep wounds finish them off. Free victory rush procs.
: Casted, uninterruptable fear. Lasts for several seconds. Use berserker rage to break yourself out or make yourself immune. The cooldown is long enough that you will have it up for every fear. If you have DPS macros, be sure to take berserker rage out of them or you may end up using it when unneeded, leading you to stray into a vengeful spirit and thundercrash.
I been farming these ^&*!@es since the patch was launched, At first on the horde side of Illidan with my Blood Elf Pally but the mount never dropped i was happy about the reputation and the bags with items to sell. But then I started killing them on my warrior, my protection warrior as I killed tons of them an Amber mount dropped. I lost of Course and I got Very mad. The next day a Slate one dropped on a group of 3 and I won I was very happy by then because I didnt know what was going to happen next. Here is the sadness of the story an other amber mount dropped and I lost rolling 23 then an other one dropped ding 25 an other one dropped ding 37.A jade one dropped and I was like OMG OMG OMG since this one is the best of them, But I rolled an Amazing 6 YAI! Then the next day an other amber dropped and I repeated my nice rolls i rolled like 52. And Today My Madness was Completed I soloed like 10 during the day then i killed above 10 on a group of 3 and then i asked on battle.net for a warbringer someone invited me (pally healer) from Thunderlord his name was sunastina Dread Wastes Warbringer Was up so we killed it he was a &*!@ty healer and i could solo it ,So when it died the mount Dropped I was hoping that the mount would be mine, since I already lost 4 but NO the STUPID NOOB PALLY had to win and then delete me from my I.D And leaving GROUP That brought me the madness i have now and i think that im gonna have to Switch to MS when we're killing one SINCE IM NOT GOING TO LOSE THAT STUPID MOUNT AGAIN, AGAINST A @#$%ING NOOB THAT DOESNT KNOW HOW TO PLAY.
That's my story And I bet No ones gonna care about it downvote if you want. But my luck on this !@#$%es is Useless.
6 Amber(Lost them all) + 5 Jade (Lost them All) + 5 Slate (Won the first one) = 21 Total mounts (1 Of the 3) When i soloed not a single one dropped it only drop when i had 100000 noobs to win the roll.
Found a way to solo these (with some difficulty) as a Protection Paladin, I've made a Youtube guide for those interested which can be found here:
Warbringer content starts at 3:05; I was actually doing a guide about scouts when one popped and thought what the hell, lets get it done!
I recommend to use
(Horde) when solo-farming these - especially if you are a tank. Fear-break on a 1-minute CD (instead of 2-minute CD with insignia) comes in pretty handy.
I didn't see any hotfix or change to them recently. In the last 8 solo kills for me as a lock and 12 kills from a hunter group that I wasn't a part of DIDN'T drop the big blue bag of supplies.
When I am used to them dropping pretty much 100% of the time to next to nothing makes me think they sneaked one (fix) by.
This keeps up, you guys can have them all to yourselves as 20 million health for couple rep tokens and some herbs isn't very lucrative anymore.
Post if you have seen the same results. thanks.
Not sure if posted but
this is a detailed guide
which i use to very successfully kill these as a hunter.
I had ilvl 504 while soloing these, took me 6-7 minutes for each kill. Killed around 20 and no mounts so far.
Pet: must have
. there are various pets out there that you must be in BM spec to tame. i like to use tank spec
Do not use dire beast talent as it can bug out your rare and reset it.
Rest is optional.
Pre-pull: I like to use my core hound to pop bloodlust first, i then quickly dismiss it, and take out my spirit mend pet. I pop all cds, except readiness which i use for emergencies. pop your optional virmen's bite before pulling as you can use it again 60s later.
Macros and keybindings: keybind and macro spirit mend to be cast on you(hopefully you won't have to use it) and another macro to be cast on your pet(ideally, the only one you should be using), keybind pet's 40$ damage reduce ability
Method; after the pre-pull prep, make sure to have mend pet active at all times, and pop MD every 20 seconds too, you have to carefully manage your pet's health and spirit mend comes in handy. if it gets too low, pop 40% damage reduce, make pet passive and let it mend then send it back out again and/or use spirit mend. be wary of the ghosts that the rare summons and quickly make your pet passive until you get the ghosts' aggro.
you might want to keep your pet passive at all times and just MD the threat to it, but if you can manage to balance your pet's health, the npc is dead much quicker
If pet dies?: Don't panic, try to disengage(hopefully you have 60% speed inc.), run away as far as possible, pop rapid fire(or use readiness to get it back up) if you don't think you'll make the ressurect cast in time, and pop your pet back up, MD fire off some shots(make sure the npc knows the pet is there again, otherwise it will reset) and feing death
all the people saying it's still soloable try it on a mage see how much them frostbolts helps you.
warlock can still solo them even with the immunity to snare effect; the tact is very simple:
use the voidwalkver as tank, and put a demonic gateway at it's max range; the demonic gateway will reset the aggro, so just use the viod as tank, if he dies summon another one and use the gateway, it will reset the aggro and u can keep dps. with my warlock i pushed around 100k dps and was able to kill them in 3-4 minutes
At this moment I'm sitting on a
343 kills (not only farming them for mount, but also bags).
A thing to know, in case you can't quite seperate their colors:
Yellow eyes: Amber
Blue eyes: Slate
Purple eyes: Jade
Current mount drops on kill no:
TIPS & TRICKS
When working in a team, and someone found a warbringer; ask for the color of the eyes. It's the easiest way to reckognize which spawn it is. (Mostly because amber & slate get mixed up, aswell slate & jade.
When you're able to solo, but still run it in a group, tell them you get the bags, they the rep. You can get the rep when soloing, bags are worth plenty of gold.
If you're just doing something, note the following things:
= move. Other spells are detailed in other posts.
: When you get feared you have a chance on resetting it (when you haven't hit him slightly before the fearcast)
I don't know if it has been mentioned... but I have now solo'ed these guys twice on my hunter. As far as I am aware there is no combination of buffs that make it impossible. I took out one in Dread Wastes with Fear bomb easily by simply holding Bestial Wrath for fear break (from my experience BW will come off CD before he fears again). I also just now downed one with fear bomb replaced by vengeful spirit, which was 10 times easier, as all I had to do was kite in circle keeping spirit in middle constantly running in small circles. Aspect of Cheetah is a must, and when he stops to cast one of his abilities stand still and blow him up for 3 seconds.
side note... exhilaration makes this alot easier, as it allows for 1-2 screw ups in the fight, and 3-4 if you space it and readiness out properly.
Zandalari Wabringer can be killed solo by any class. You can easily farm 3 rare mounts and add them to your collection!
To cover all fears you can use:
1) PvP Trinket
2) Cloack of Shadow
3) Smoke Bomb
This video shows how to kill this world mini-boss solo by Rogue:
If you want this mount, and have a couple hours on your hands this way of farming can generate a fairly good amount of kills on Warbringers and will hopefully land you a mount.
Ok, i've farmed over 200 Warbringers using a
CROSS REALM PARTY METHOD
Using an external website, or even your friends list if you know the right people, create a group of 3-5 people of all different realms. When you create a party everyone moves to your realm, AND vice-versa, so you can potentially farm 3-5 Warbringers per single spot on multiple realms
(please note this doesn't guarantee they aren't killed on the other servers)
You want to farm Warbingers, so you create a party of 5 people from different realms to farm them.
Each player flies to the same position in the party. If the current realm Warbingers is dead, then all players would leave party, to be sent back to there realms so they can check if theirs is alive.
If the warbingers is alive on that players realm,
THAT PLAYER MUST BE THE ONE
inviting the party back so that everyone will be on there realm for the kill.
What this does for you, is allows you to potentially kill 20 Warbingers per hour, with each fight lasting a few minutes + Flight time, you can literally
these guys till you receive your mounts.
There can not be more than 2 people from the same realm. If there are 3 of you from the same realm, it will always transfer the other players to your realm regardless of who is party leader.
shared cross realm, so for those of you who will say that another realms player will be ineligible for the mount if it dropped,
Please upvote this so that people can start getting the mount!
EDIT 6/23: Farmed for about an hour and fifteen minutes killed, killed approx 32 warbringers and finally won a roll on my Amber! =)
EDIT 6/24: Looted my Jade Direhorn today! 1 more left.
ALSO please be aware when 5.4 goes live this comment will only apply to people on different virtual realms, so it will be MUCH trickier to do it.
Soloable as a 525 enhancement shaman with 4 piece T15. Used EotE and PE with Flame Shock, Feral Spirit, and Healing Storm glyphs. (Thinking about it, Lightning shield is probably better than Flame Shock for this)
Depending on the different buffs the Warbringers have, and how your procs are… they can be anywhere from a very smooth kill to next to impossible.
Just pop all CD’s at start and then once the CD wears off. Use Healing Surge on 5 maelstrom stacks all the time if you don’t have anything else healing you. Tremor totem out of fear, pop healing stream right after if not on CD and then CotE.
That’s all I can really think of… Best of luck!
Quite easy soloable by shadow priest.
Here's a video:
If youre a DK and all you want to do is solo it, its not that hard i have ilvl 509 no tank gear no 2 Hander but i can still solo them as long as i am in blood spec so GL if you're going to try. it might take a while to down him though
So, question... I am on a PVE server and while my BF and I were farming rep off warbringers we had a group of Alliance guys that enabled THEIR PVP mode then ran into our fight waiting on an AOE. When they got tagged and we got flagged for PVP, they killed us and stole the warbringer, only having to fight him at the 25% we had him down to. When we recovered our bodies, they had killed the warbringer and gotten the loot. To add insult to misery, they did this four times in a row to us before we just logged off feeling frustrated and jilted. It just seems a really jerkish thing to do. Not sure if its worth reporting or a legitimate game tactic. I get it on PVP servers, but on a PVE server?... Any insight as to how to handle this type of situation?
Good way to solo in Dread Wastes: get Klaxxi augmentation Master of Pupets and bring Vor'thik Dreadsworn to the fight. He will cut 40-50% of his health in few seconds with Blade Flurry. Good luck finishing him off.
Solo'd this today @ 490 ilvl as destruction warlock using my Void Lord (keep taunt off! explained later)
Here was my spec -
Warbringer had following skills:
For me the fight ended up being relatively easy after a few "learning experiences" :)
I setup my gateway right where I engaged the boss so that it would shuttle me away as soon as he got to me, but after that the gateway was mostly useless from chasing around my voidwalker from the fear.
Before taking the gateway, I would have full embers (just kill some stuff nearby) pop all my CDs and get 2 chaos bolts off before jumping in the gateway and resetting aggro. From there the fight was pretty much just rinse repeat with each ability
Other than the initial 2 chaos bolts and some shadowburns at the end, I used every single ember on Ember Tap. Because of Soul Link, this ended up more than keeping my pet alive, and between defensive CDs, 1 Health Potion, and my healthstone, I was able to survive long enough to take him down.
- Fear: Mostly just ignored it and dps the boss. If he wandered off too far, just set him to passive to corral him back in a bit.
- Meteor Shower: Again, mostly ignored, just make sure you don't get hit.
- Thunder Crush: Ignored? Yep. The massive pet reduction to AoE dmg really made this one trivial
- Vengeful Spirit: This is the only one that was really tricky since it more or less would 2 shot my pet. My way around this was as soon as the warbringer began casting it, lay down a rain of fire and hit the spirit with a fel flame when it spawns. As long as you do not have his taunt ability set to auto cast, this will be more than enough to pull the spirit towards you which is easy as pie to avoid.
Throughout the fight the most important thing to remember is keep up ember generation. One thing that worked very well for me was as soon as the spirit despawned, I would find a weak nearby mob and kill it quick, making sure to finish it off with shadowburn. This allowed me to rapidly top off my health in a few dire situations when all my skills were on cooldown. If you can't seem to kill nearby mobs fast enough or there aren't any, try keeping rain of fire up as much as possible and always remember to keep immolate on spirit. Even though you don't need to dps her, the extra ember generation definitely helped me out ;)
Be sure to save your Doomguard until the 20% and recommend waiting to shadowburn until he is under 1mil HP. I also recommend keeping the warbringer debuffed with curse of weakness, as in my final kill attempt, I genuinely feel the small gain in survivability is what ultimately helped.
I'm hoping to try a few more of these guys with the various buffs, especially since my first kill did not get me a mount =(
Got 2x Celestial Rep items, Golden Lotus Rep, Big Bag with a TON of cloth in it, typical small bag.
Best of luck and happy hunting!
How to solo a Zandalari Warbringer as a warlock:
Make sure you have your voidwalker out , and also make sure you have atleast the most 2 common talents for solo 'ing the warbringer:
You NEED the 2 Talents Soul leech in the first tier of the talent tree
And you need Soul link in the third tier.
Make sure you click on your soul link buff
Once you have clicked your soul link buff you notice that your voidwalker have 50% less health then it normally does.
Tactics are quite simple.
1. Keep dpssing the zandalari each incinerate , each conflagrate , and chaos bolt will make the shield stronger the voidwalker gets from the soul leech talent.
2. When the Zandalari warbringer is starting to cast the vengefull spirit make sure you move your voidwalker away from the spirit.
3. On the scarab phase throw 1 rain of fire at the warbringer and 1 rain of fire at yourself , for loads of embers !
4 . on the thundering ( shockwave ability ) or whatever it may be called you dont have to do anything because your voidwalker prolly have a big enough shield to soak it anyway.
If you can keep this up , and make sure your pet doesnt die ( i woulnt see a reason why ) its a def kill , good loot , also the bags are pretty usefull with crafting materials.
Goodluck on the hunt !
Can be solo'd by rogues. Faster as assassination. Take burst of speed and shuriken toss and keep your distance. Wear pvp trinket if they have the buff tribal mask so you can get out of horrific visage. Can use cloak to get out of horrific visage as well. Takes 5-7 minutes. Good luck
Solo'd today as a 521 windwalker monk in 5 minutes.
Abilites I used : Celerity, chi wave, ascension, ring of peace, dampen harm and chi torpedo.
Glyphs : Touch of karma, afterlife and touch of death. Don't use glyph of blackout kick.
Don't try to solo the jade forest one, he resets randomly when you get too far.
Before the fight starts, put down 3 healing orbs and put a transcend on top of it. Then engage him and use dampen harm. The first horrific visage I used nimble brew, the second I used touch of karma and whenever I had 10 stacks of tigereyes brew I popped fortifying brew or dampen harm and burned him. Use chi torpedo to gain some distance or kill scarabs really fast. I didn't use spinning crane kick because he can land 2 attacks on you before you come out which can be fatal.
I solo theese Warbringers as a destruction warlock, ilvl 509 (4 piece bonus of the thousandfold hells) whit 0 problem. I use the Overgrown lilypad and the talent Soul Leech ( i dont use Soul Link) theese two things are enough to keep me and my pet at near full healt at all times and incase of emergencies the bonus from the set keeps me well filled whit embers so that i can ember tap if i need to start healt funneling the voidwalker. On warbringers whit the summon vengeful spirit ability make sure you turn off pet taunt when he casts the ability and place a rain of fire over the boss area so that the spirit goes for you, you can easy move out of the way and keep dpsing whit the Kil´jaedens kunning. Soon exalted whit all the pandaria factions (those represented by insignias) on my druid who havent done any quests. No mount so far tho.
So when ever one of these assclowns in near water I put my Cursed Swabby Helmet
and drag this sucker into the ocean. Sadly for this three-horn, Hozen Scuba Divers are much faster at swimming that a big stupid dinosaur with an assclown riding on top of him. Just make sure to range him when he starts casting his fear and you'll be all set. Best part is that there are very few mobs in the ocean, just the occasional shark.
Can no longer solo these with the changes to locks. Voidwalker gets crushed now
Interestingly since Hunters Mend Pet ability was changed so that the heals occur more frequently these are now considerably easier to solo as a Hunter. Note that I say "easier" and not easy; they still offer a challenge.
I use a pet in tenacity spec, usually a spirit beast because the Spirit Mend on auto is handy in case either you or the pet needs that extra bit of healing - it happens when something unexpected comes up, such as respawning adds or even the Zandalari Scouts who patrol by (2 of them). Sometimes the command to recall your pet doesn't seem to work - I use this to move the pet out of range of the Vengeful Spirit before it spawns so that I can get aggro on the Spirit because it will mush your pet otherwise - and during this time the extra heals help until the command gets recognised.
In terms of difficulty, that depends on what abilities the Warbringers will have since the 4 out of 5 abilities are randomly chosen at spawn time. The worst pairing I find (for Hunters) is the Horrifying Visage and the Vengeful Spirit since your pet is either in immediate danger or is not generating threat and tanking. Any of the other abilities is easily dealth with:
Scarab Swarm: Misdirect, Multishot
Meteor shower: Just stay out of range, pet just shrugs of the damage
Thunder Crush: Just stay out of range, pet just shrugs of the damage
My favourite tactic, again this is for Hunters (sorry), is when then Vengeful Spirit is to be summoned I pull the pet back to me. With the Mend Pet constantly ticking it generates healing aggro which makes the Spirit head to you, but it takes a few ticks for this to kick in; hence the reason to pull the pet back. If you end up with Horrifying Visage then save Bestial Wrath for this.
I also find that certain zones offer their own challenges. Dreadwastes is clearly the easiest because of the Klaxxi buffs that you get. I use:
for extra damage and
for accidental death escapes.
Kun-Lai Summit is the worst in my opinion due to the number of respawns. You've got mobs all around you as well as fast respawning eagles and mushan who all make the fight a bit messy depending on the phase you're in.
Jade Forest has the terrain, such as trees, getting in your way for line of sight issues as well as just getting in your way when trying to avoid/run out of range.
Townlong Steppes is nicely open spaced with only a few spawns around the area, which don't respawn too fast.
Krasarang Wilds is perhaps the easiest in that you have an island to run around on with no other issues.
Now that special NPCs show up on the mini map as skulls now I would recommend you hunt down the 2 Zandalari Scouts since they do patrol up to the Warbringers and, although it's possible to kill both at the same time, it's a major pain and not worth the added frustration, especially when one turns up towards the end of a fight and causes you to abort.
, you can now have complete immunity to the fear that these cast. No more running away like a fool while getting smacked in the back of the head.
Found out I can solo the one in Dread Wastes with a little help from our neighborhood rage-filled Mantid as a frost mage.
Requirements: Be decently geared (I'm only 527 on my mage, don't have my cloak yet or meta gem which I imagine would make this even more of a breeze then it was.) Also, be deep enough into the Klaxxi faction that you have Xaril and Ka'rol the Locust's buffs. If you can get a druid to give you healing touch, that is also very good, otherwise, glyph of evocation is enough along with the invocation talent. Take Ice Barrier (i will be experimenting with the damage reduction talent however). Also take blazing speed for more mobility.
Start off at max range, pretty much up on the hill that leads to the beach (I did it on the hill that is to the right of the Warbringer) and blow EVERYTHING. Warp, Mirror Images, everything. You'll have about 20-30 seconds, depending on how fast he kills your pets and whatnot before he starts to come after you. I do about 300k dps so I was able to shave off like 8 million before I had to start kiting. Once he starts chasing you, just kite him in a straight line up and down the beach, healing at the end of each part of the line that you take ( I heal right at the water's edge and then just use your best judgment on the other end.) Make sure you keep Ice Barrier up and are spamming Ice Lance while you're on the move, and it's really just a matter of patience. Once you pass three minutes you'll have all your CDs back up so that last 3 mill or so will go by quite quick. I would imagine that a fire mage would simply demolish this, and so I will be trying it out as fire soon and hopefully update this.
Cheers and good luck on the mount!
For all the hunters out there who are having problems with the fear from Horrific Visage as I did, you can use Camouflage to evade it.
While there are several classes that can already, notably solo these guys (Blood DKs, well geared warriors, hunters, etc) today I found out that a rogue can solo them as well, if they play to their strengths. I did this mostly for shiggles, and a good challenge.
NOTE: This follows a non-zone specific route. So you do not need to use the Master of puppets tactic already discussed here.
First, what you will need:
Burst of Speed
Cloak of Shadows
Depending on your ilvl, Drums of rage.
Now, one caveat is that you must target warbringers that do not have the fear charm. This can muck up any good attempt you have quite easily.
Did this as a 553 ilvl assassination rogue.
Start off with garrote IMMEDIATELY hitting evasion. Pop every single dps cooldown you have. I used Virmen's bite, Vendetta, Shadowblades and Engy gloves with drums of rage. By time evasion was down, he was at 40%. Now to survive from here on out, requires timing your remaining survival cds well. I popped Growl (Via Lilypad) as soon as evasion wore off, and feint to reduce damage while dpsing. The next major cd i popped when it got hairy was smokebomb + Feint. After Combat readiness + feint. Then preparation for another evasion. At this point, he could be dead, but things are dicey here. You will ALWAYS keep feint running. This is a fine balance between dpsing and surviving. Remember, cloak has a very short cooldown so use it everytime it is off cd as long as it isn't redundant such as with evasion.
Notes- NEVER pop evasion with combat readiness. It will waste the cd.
If you get a ghost, this is a great time to burst of speed away and hit recuperate. Any time he stops for a cast, do this.
Now that i've given you a general idea- have at it. The rest falls upon you. Rogues can be incredibly powerful at surviving the insurmountable if you know what you're doing.
Good luck and good hunting!
Unfortunately, the old ways of soloing these guys no longer work as a Warlock. The Void Lord just gets destroyed in seconds and he comes barrel rolling for you now.
As a 545ilvl rogue i still solo Warbringers after the nerf to stuns and slow. (Will take several minutes).
Use: -Burst of Speed ,
and happy running!
-Smoke bomb, CoS when the Warbringer casts Fear.
-Blind the vengeful ghost if it's approaching.
Be careful of the one in Jade Forrest ,you won't have much space to do circles and some trees may bug him and despawn him!
o.o Ive Gotten 3 Blood Soaked Invatations And Still No Mount :(
Relatively easy to solo as an elemental shaman. Spec Call of the Elements so you can get 2 tremor totems out, then just kite kite kite. You can't slow/stun/interrupt, but they will stop to cast stuff so just never stop running and lead them in a big circle. I drop healing stream on cooldown to help out, and use AG+Healing Tide whenever I get low.
I imagine that a Fire Mage has little difficulty with these guys. However if you're like me and are too lazy or don't have room for a Fire spec then there is an easy, but time consuming way to solo them as Frost or Arcane.
Really the only thing I would say that you need is a PvP trinket/Human Racial and the Glyph of Rapid Displacement. With two blinks you should be able to keep him from catching you unless you get feared. It can be out ranged if you're very far from him at the time, but you're better off having a way to break it outside Ice Block to be safe.
Frost would also make use of Glyph of Water Elemental because without it I noticed my pet getting despawned a lot from the huge distance I was covering while kiting.
When you have Mirror Image nuke the guy with everything you've got and once he is back on you just start running and use blink whenever he is getting close and also when you have 2 charges of it as you don't want to waste time where Blink isn't recharging because he will catch up to you if you aren't making use of your Blink to gain distance.
The most dangerous thing I've ever encountered with soloing this guy is the mobs you run into. Some of them have a snare and I've even had one charge at me and punt me right to the Warbringer.
Unless the warbringers can each drop more than one of the mounts, this one actually drops the amber one i believe. I just got one from this one and one from the one in townlong and have slate+amber. No jade
I can solo it as a protection paladin, but too slow.
Want to know how to solo it with retribution talent
For fellow hunters out there like me who aren't that well-geared nor wanted to go BM just for these, I was able to farm them comfortably on my LFR-geared SV hunter with
bonus (item level was at 482 with 2 pieces of T5 equipped).
As for glyphs, other than the
Glyph of Mending
Glyph of Misdirection
listed above, I would also recommend
Glyph of Mend Pet
which would cure the fear on your pet and avoid having the mob resetting on you (i've had it happened quite a few times when killing the one in Kun-Lai)
When you start the fight, turn off your pet's Thunderstomp, set your pet to passive and manually send him in.
Spam misdirection as much as you can throughout the fight (but especially important at the start of the fight) and keep mend pet up.
Glyphed mend pet should cure the fear within 1 second.
Meteor Shower/Thunder Crush:
Stay around 30-35 yards away from the mob to avoid the meteors.
Multishot any scarabs spawned.
As soon as vengeful spirit is being casted, use the move to button to move your pet about 40 yards to the right and stop using misdirection for a bit. The spirit should aggro on you from your mend pet and T5 healing alone(without the need to even targeting it), move 40 yards to your right so you are still about 30 yards away from the mob. By the time the spirit comes close it should be close to despawning so just move a bit further away if needed. Move to your left next time when vengeful spirit is being casted.
I was doing around 120k dps and the T5 bonus ended up doing about 52% of my healing. I played on a PVE server so there was little risk for interference from the opposite faction. And I got extremely lucky to get the amber on my 12th kill, slate on my 19th kill and jade on my 21st kill (this came as a surprise as I was going to call it given how slim the chance of getting exactly the color i needed with a 5% drop rate)
Hope this helps anyone who are stilling trying to get theirs, and may them have all the luck they need.
Soloing as a warlock, somehow my VW drops threat and the Warbringer comes to me.
Not even soul shatter + demonic portal drops my threat.
Angry right now.
Easily soloable as a 550 Disc Priest, but I imagine you could do it as early as 536 on-wards.
The general method is absorbing all of the damage he puts out, hence the item level requirement. If you're confident in your ability to push out a steady amount of damage and keep yourself shielded via Divine Aegis and Power Word: Shield, you should have no trouble bringing these big boys down.
You can handle almost every mechanic easily enough.
Vengeful Spirit -> Void Tendrils
Horrific Visage -> Fear Ward
Thunder Crush -> Angelic Feather or Body and Soul and move out!
Scarab Swarm -> Divine Star or Halo are both good for dealing with these.
Meteor Shower -> Pan your camera upwards and move out of these. If you're geared enough, you can easily soak the damage - but I still suggest moving out of them.
In case of emergencies, I run Desperate Prayer. The important thing to remember is keeping your Power Word: Shield up and using Inner Focus + Greater Heal for Divine Aegis. Atonement will also help keep your Divine Aegis up as the fight continues - you'll be Smiting and Penancing a lot, trust me.
The fight can be rather long, depending on your gear - so remember to use your mana-gaining abilities on cooldown to keep yourself from running oom.
Hope this helps muh fellow Priests.
I have been consistently able to solo Warbringers as a 540 Enhancement Shaman, which seem to be an incredible source of reputation with every faction from Mists of Pandaria (Excluding those affiliated with Shieldwall/Dominance, Timeless Isle, and Isle of Thunder, of course).
I have been using the following talents and glyphs, and it may be worthy of note that I have
, which immensely helps from an offensive and defensive standpoint.
I also use
At the start of the fight, I pop all of my offensive cooldowns and activate Ancestral Guidance so that I recover a majority of the damage that I'm dealing. Whatever abilities the Warbringer has, it is inevitable that you will end up kiting them at some point, and that's half of the battle. Avoid the meteors (But don't panic; they actually miss you pretty easily), kite the Warbringer away from the spirit it summons, avoid its Thunder Crush, and use the Scarabs to your advantage by blasting the Warbringer with a stacked
The real problem you need to worry about is the Warbringer's Horrific Visage, which can easily incapacitate you and force you to face away from them, causing you to take damage that could otherwise be avoided by your Dodge and Parry. More than anything else, this is what can kill you, and this is why Call of the Elements is necessary. Additionally, try to line up
so that it is active if you are feared and unable to use
. Use your Stone Bulwark,
whenever you are able throughout the encounter. Reserve your
. Only use them for
when you are ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN you can handle the damage.
All in all, Enhancement seems reasonably well-equipped to handle Warbringers. They are still a challenge for me, but they're an enjoyable challenge. So if any other Enhancement Shamans out there are wondering: Yes, Warbringers are very killable for us!
Me and a few buddies farmed them for four hours last night. I wrote down all of the spawn times if anyone is interested. (Korgath-US) Here were the results:
TS: 10:47, 11:42, 12:44, 1:36
DW: 10:53, 11:45, x, x
KW: 10:59, 11:57, 12:55, 2:01
KS: 11:15, 12:08, 1:04, 1:53
JF: 11:33, 12:25, 1:11, x
Basically they seemed to be spawning every 45-55mins for us. The ones marked with an 'x' were not there when they were suppose to be, it is most likely that another group or person killed them before we got there.
One mount dropped all night. It was off of the one in TS. I did not win the roll...
Just some random info, but maybe it will help you with spawn times.
We were back at it last night and here is what we got:
TS: 3:24, 3:58, 4:48, 5:28, 6:20, 7:05, 7:56
DW: 3:25, 4:14, 4:58, 5:46, 6:34, 7:30, 8:18
JF: 3:30, 4:22, 5:14, 5:57, 6:51, 7:48
KS: 3:37, 4:25, 5:18, 6:07, 6:53, 7:49
KW: 3:38, 4:37, 5:22, 6:11, 6:57, 7:51
We got a mount drop in DW at 4:14. Most seem to be around the 55min mark although the 45-55 range was the norm, with TS being early a few times and coming in around 30mins at one point. The averages got more consistent later on as we were controlling the spawns at that point vs coming in on someone else's when we started. Again just raw numbers; maybe someone will find it useful.
Finally got 3/3 of these!
520 blood DK (
) it took about 6 minutes per kill. Pretty easy solo, just popped AMS to deflect the fear. No special talents or glyphs needed - blood DKs just have ridiculous survivability.
The only real danger here comes from the vengeful spirit - that thing HURTS. You need to kite away from it. I found I could run about 60 yards, turn around and start wailing on the warbringer, and the spirit would despawn before it reached me. I got into a good rhythm of dropping a D&D under him, dpsing for a bit, then kiting to another location to avoid the spirit. The fear can come a little faster than the CD of AMS, but honestly it's not that big of a deal. Just make sure you're not too far away from his spawn point if your AMS is on CD because he can and will reset, which is incredibly annoying when you're a tank with crappy gear.
Spawns seemed to range from 45-60 minutes. I'd do a circle, kill all the warbringers, log for a bit, then start over. I ended up with multiple jade/slate direhorn drops before I got the last one I needed (amber), and enough stolen insignias to max out multiple alts. Also if you're on a low pop realm, this is an insanely easy way to farm mats. The big bags drop crazy amounts of stuff.
I solo this big guy all the time no mount drop yet but still going strong lol..btw im a blood dk in dps pvp gear
I solo these on my Destro lock, he's 562 ilvl w/cloak and I use Soul Leech, Mortal Coil, Soul Link, Unbound Will GoSup and Kil'jaeden's Cunning. I use the fel imp pet. Healthstone and Eternal Resolve glyph.
The imp uses Sear Magic when I get feared and if for some reason my imp dies I have unbound will as a backup. There is nothing special I do outside of that, just a normal rotation sans some chaos bolts. I try to create distance between myself and the warbringer when he is casting something. I also always keep at least 1 ember up for emergency ember tap.
soloed , 572 fury warrior. Defensive stance, second wind. Kited the warbringer around taking advantage of the scarab summonings to heal myself with victory rush. No mount dropped..
Anyone looking to farm these I have some advice. I was able to get all three of them in a manner of hours. Doesn't sound like its possible but all you do is head to one of the spawn points for the Warbringer. Queue up for both Celestials and Ordos and accept any invites that come your way. You get phased into their server so even though your warbringer might be down in that spot it could be up on that server. Using this method during peak times for people to be doing Celestials and Ordos can allow you to kill so many warbringers in a relatively short amount of time. Granted you'd have to be able to solo them.
Soloed as Arms Warrior iLevel 548.
very useful. The strategy is to use every mob you can to proc
. When he summons the scarabs, pop
and enjoy the healing. When there are no scarabs, move around and taunt mobs. Pay attention to sometimes hit the Warbringer to avoid the reset. When your health drops, use defensive cooldowns.
It's important to remove the dps legendary cloack (I used the tank legendary one because I didn't have nothing better), because a proc with the scarabs can nullify tons of healing.
This method may not be optimal, but I had fun :D
Hope this helps,
that spawn around Pandaria.
The Jade Forest
They all share the same loot tables, with the exception to the color mount they drop.
linked with the death of the Warbringers.
They also like to "scout" pretty far from their original spawning locations o.o!
just try to write a macro for detecting type
/run local t=tonumber(UnitGUID("target"):sub(24,28)); if (t==69769) then print("Slate") elseif (t==69842) then print("Jade") elseif (t==69841) then print("Amber") else print("
There is another spawn not listed here: Krasarang Wilds at 38, 67.
What is the respawn timer on these guys post WoD?
Tomtom macro for all locations (added the Krasarang one posted by NortyFiner):
/way Krasarang Wilds 38.9, 67.6 Warbringer
/way Townlong Steppes 36.6, 85.6 Warbringer
/way The Jade Forest 52.6, 19.0 Warbringer
/way Kun-Lai Summit 75.0, 67.6 Warbringer
/way Dread Wastes 47.2, 61.6 Warbringer
It is annoying that there's always a lvl 100 from a different server camping a spot.
With the prepatch for Legion, this NPC and the others like it have become Personal Loot. You can now tag this mob with at least four of your friends (or fellow faction members), and each of you gets a chance at the mount and other loot. You cannot, however, share the tag with members of the other faction.
Mount can be traded to anyone who's eligible for loot (tagged) even if they were not in group
(many thanks to that random person who made my day instead of deleting their double)
Updated Zandarari Warscout Locations:
/way Townlong Steppes 36.0 88.0
/way Dread Wastes 47.0 60.0
/way Krasarang Wilds:Pandaria 39.0 66.0
/way Kun-Lai Summit 75.0 62.0
/way The Jade Forest:Pandaria 52.0 17.0
Seen some weird things waiting for these guys to spawn...
Sometimes they just won't appear, even after an hour or more.
Sometime just a frickin' corpse materializes.
Sometimes, it will appear and you'll never even get a chance to target before someone else has tagged and killed in a fraction of a second.
I suspect lots of people cross-realm hopping, using addons, and higher level(relative to the warbringers) are adding to the complexities of farming these guys.
I have, a couple times, happen to come on warbringers just sitting there, no one around him, I suspect with realm joins and phasing or something, leads to warbringers 'slipping through the cracks' and the timing works out to have it all to yourself.
RNG is a fickle thing, just keep flying around eventually you'll get them.
I successfully farmed the 3 Warbringer mounts over the last week or so very casually and figured I'd report my results:
I farmed the mounts using class trial characters on RP Realms. I made Druids simply because flight form was faster than mounting but any class works. When you make the class trial skip the intro by walking to the back of the zepplin/airship and mounting the windrider/gryphon. From there you'll be taken to SW or Org, where you'll go take the portal to Dalaran. *At this time select your Warmode setting, I had 2 characters per realm, one with Warmode on, one off. You can have up to 12 class trials and make up to 4 per hour*. From Dalaran take the portal to Shrine, and fly to your first target. I would log out if a warbringer wasnt up in the location and try another server/WM Phase, its not worth flying to all 5 locations just to find none are up. If the first was up I would fly to the next spawn point until I either farmed all 5 or ran into one that wasnt up at which point I'd switch over.
To get all 3 mounts took:
Slate - 45 Kills
Amber - 30 Kills
Jade - 28 Kills
The realms I used were:
Steamwheedle Cartel (All US)
Total /played time between all class trials was about 4.5 hours.
Good luck and happy hunting!
In my experience of camping the Warbringers, they always spawn sometime after
spawns. Additionally, approximately 30 seconds to a minute before they spawn, the Warbringer will appear on the mini-map as a rare spawn, this gives everyone a chance to prepare to tag it. It is now a global tag, so as long as you damage it, you will get personal loot.
