Needed for the quest
清洁工作
The Elite carries 40-50 'filth' approximately.
Can easily be killed by a 460 geared level 90.
As you need 75 'filth' to finish the daily, killing two of these is far quicker than killing the babies which only grant varying amounts of lower 'filth'.
Generally, the bigger the mob looks, the more filth it carries.

These filthy oozes have a chance to drop
Filth-Contaminated Gem
, which can be quite profitable.

These larger, elite Quivering Filths seem to actually grow in size, unlike their smaller/nonelite variants.
However, the growth suddenly stopped for me...I wonder if killing other oozes nearby (which I was doing) had an affect? Maybe it increases the drop rate of the Filthling (probably not)?
Killing things nearby definitely does not accelerate, nor cap break the growth. The do gain about 40k health per stack of the buff. Seems to be a tad short short of that...as sometimes its 39 (2087>2127>2166 K)
Health seems capped at about 2560k for certain elites, and 2600k for others.
I will need to continue testing....or rather, waiting for spawns.
Alright, Exact health values - 41 stacks is 1654552 hp. Each Stack, with 2 exceptions thus far, gives
39394
health. At 44 and 53 stacks, the monster gains 39395 health instead. The monster gains stacks every 10 seconds, and seems to either gain 10 or 20 stacks.
update-
Forgot these guys have been around since 5.2. Just blend into the background. I think?
Either way, this is still good info to have around (about their health). Enjoy farming the pet all!

These elite Quivering Filth are the ones that drop the pet, not the smaller ones.
Spawn rate is not great, and they're found in just the one small area.
Got the pet on the eighth kill.
In hours of camping, I have yet to see a non-elite Filth grow into an elite one, so I'm doubtful it happens. The presence or non-presence of smaller Filth seems to have no influence either.

Been farming these since before the hotfix. I know 100% killing all the smaller ones influence the spawn rate of the larger ones. I waited for 2 hours without a single one spawning while not killing them and then after one full clear of the small ones a large elite one spawned.
The spawn rate seems to be very low especially since you have to kill the smaller ones to spawn the big guys.

Very nice to farm for this when the daily for the mobs is active. A lot of people killing the little ones.
Got the pet on my 8th kill of an elite mob.
Update: 2nd dropped 3 mobs later.

I don't think the drop on this guy is very low. I came out late in the afternoon, just to have a shot at it. Killed an Elite that was just wading around. The pet dropped on him. Good luck and happy hunting!

Now this is purely based on my speculation and observation while farming these guys. I've been killing them in a 4 hour session now and I've noticed a few things about their spawn pattern. Now this could be just a coincidence but there could be very particular mechanics as to how the elites spawn.
First of all, I've followed the advice that all the little filth should be killed in a single pile. I've found absolutely
no correlation
between elite filth spawn and location of little filth death.
As a matter of fact, the big filth has never once spawned where the little filth dies.
(
see edit at the bottom.
)
Second, running any size filth over
- dead filth
- 'spray' path (spray referring to filth losing it's stacks)
- other living filth
Does not increase the stacks of 'Filthy'. Some filth tends to grow it's stacks and they cap out at a certain number.
Third: During the first half of my farming session, I've avoided killing the humanoid
邪刃污染者
. I've gotten about a dozen elite Quivering Filth spawns.
During the second half of my session, I made sure to pull everything. And I noticed something interesting. The filthmongers have an ability
投掷污物
. I've not yet discovered whether this helps the elites spawn or not. However, during said second half of farming session I've also noticed that i've spawned more elites. It seems that there is a correlation between killing filthmongers and the Elite filth spawning.
Also, the Elite Filth seems to spawn in the same location as the Filthmongers. They are able to both be up at the same time in the same location.
Spawn locations noted so far:
50.9 87.0
49.8 80.6
50.9 80.3
51.9 80.5
53.4 80.2
EDIT: And now, for the first time and well over 4 hours of doing this one has spawned in one of my now massive piles of corpses, defying any logic so far at 50.9 81.2.
New spawn point noted at 52.6 80.8.

Alright, I'm going to set this straight. Spawning the big ones has nothing to do with stacking the small ones in 1 spot and killing them. However, they do share the same spawns. I've noticed that there is about a 30 min spawn timer and there is a minimum number of about 4 or 5 that will be up at any given time. Meaning if you have 4 or 5 up and you kill 1 another will spawn instantly, and you can use this method to keep making them spawn. Each time one spawns there is a chance it will be an elite, the chance feels like its around 10%. They both can drop pet with the big ones having a better chance.
In other words: it doesn't matter how you kill them, just kill them.

Just spent a good two hours or so farming for these guys in hopes of pet drops, and have taken the opportunity to test some of the theories on this page. From what I've seen, it's less of a hassle to try and gather the non-elites into a neat pile and AoE them down than to just kill them wherever. It didn't seem to affect the spawn rates of these guys at all to do either one. Simply put, just kill the little guys however you please, because from the look of things, at least from my experience, it doesn't matter how they die. They just need to die.

Posting this because there is no "Drops" tab for this NPC... those interested in the Filthling companion/battle pet are looking for
半空的食品容器
to drop.
There is a similar ooze/slime pet with a face that can be caught in the wild for those that are interested, it spawns in Skulk Rock in The Hinterlands and is level 11-12 ,
翡翠软泥怪
. Top-rated comments say you can force a spawn by running through the cave and killing the critters there, which are mostly maggots.
