Second encounter at Rank 7 in the Brawler's Guild.
"Also entering the arena: The Dark Summoner. Wow, he doesn't even have a real name. Spooky!"
He spawns with an invulnerable shield, periodically summons
Tormented Ghosts
, casts Shadow Bolt for ~90k and melees for ~40k on leather. The summoned ghosts move towards your character and will oneshot you if they manage to land a melee hit. Upon entering the arena a you recieve a buff called Guardian's Light, which causes a narrow cone of light to shoot forward from your character that can be used to stop the ghosts (they don't attack while they're in the light).
When you kill a ghost his shield will be lowered for a a short amount of time, and you have to blow every cd and deal as much dmg as possible, before he recasts his shield.

I can't guarantee there isn't a better strategy than this for melee. I wasn't actually able to down him myself, but I *think* that's because I don't have enough dps. I'm an OS ret paladin with average iLv 487, but with a 471 rare weap (463 upgraded with JP). The two melee I saw successfully do him were a MS ret paladin and arms warr, both with about 10+ iLvs on me, and more importantly both with 496+ epic weaps.
In any case, initially you want to be killing the ghosts as soon as you can, so that you don't need to worry about being overwhelmed. After you kill the first ghost you want to pop all your cooldowns and dps the boss as much as possible (still swapping to ghosts when they spawn). When the boss is low enough that you can burn him down within the 15 secs of vulnerability he has, that's when you want to ignore the adds and just burn the boss.

One thing I can't stress enough about this fight: The ghosts melee range is incredibly long. It's easily 8-10 yards away. This is especially bad for melee like myself. Do your best to position the boss in a way that keeps all the ghosts in roughly the same direction so you can tag them during your final burn. You don't want to die to a ghost at 8% because one comes up to you from behind. No, I have no idea who that could have happened to. Why do you ask? :p

Some short numbers:
- On ghost kill, shield fades for roughly
19
seconds.
- If you dont have tons of dps, you will most likely have to kill the boss within
4
ghost kills.
- Shadow Bolts hit for around
85k
, make sure to interrupt/reflect/resist them when you can.
-
Die by the Sword
helped me immensely, since ghosts will one-shot you with a regular melee attack. I assume it can be dodged as well.
I killed him as arms warrior, having just about 474 ilvl, so it is possible. Though, the next one is not.
Good luck there.

I tried to stun him during a cast of Tormented Ghouls. That does not work. You can't stop ghouls even if you have enough.

After about 100 attempts as an 476ilvl Feral druid I finally got him.
Purely self buffed with agi flask and 2 potions I averaged 54k dps and he died as the fire started raining.
Spec used;
Feline Swiftness, Natures Swiftness, Typhoon, Incantation, Ursols Vortex and Dream of Cenarius.
Strategy;
Get a 5CP Savage Roar from first ghost then instant healing touch.
Berserk, trinkets and 1x 5CP Rip, 1x 5CP Ferocious Bite on boss then switch to the next ghost. 2 x healing touch.
Use Tiger's Fury to get 2 ravage and use FB on the ghost to get another HT.
Rip if the shield is down for another 10-15 sec otherwise FB on boss. HT.
Refresh SR from a ghost. Use Typhoon to get the other ghosts at a distance and get Rip up on the boss.
Here 'ish you'll need SI and Barkskin. You should also use Ursol's Vortex on 2-3 ghosts if you see them grouped then nuke the ghost that's alone.
I believe it's a bug, but when Ursol's Vortex is cast it for some reason spam procs Predatory Swiftness, so spamheal yourself to 100% which you'll need about this time.
At this point when the 4th ghost is down you'll need to pop your second potion, trinkets and everything to nuke the boss before enrage.
With this strategy I killed him once, died on 0% once (draw), 1% once, 5% three times, and 15-20% more times than I remember.

Killed him as BM hunter ilvl 489, Spirit Beast pet - ferocity spec, Flask, 4% stats buff, Food buff, Brawlers Guild Agility potion during Bestial Wrath, he droped shield twice (died during second)
spec : Narrow Escape, Silencing Shot, Aspect of the Ironhawk, Fervor, A Murder of the Crows, Powershot
Glyphs : Glyph of the Icetrap, Glyph of Endless Wrath, Glyph of Marked for Death, Glyph of Stampede
fight: Pet on passive, Concussive shot the boss, He will summon first ghost, Silence shot his next spell cast, find the ghost, cast Rapid Fire, stun ghost with flashlight, kill the ghost with arcane shots and your pet autocast abilities and save as much focus as possible.
When his shield drops down do not send your pet after him yet, build some aggro on you first, cast Bestial Wrath, A Murder of Crows, cast Power Shot (you should still be under effect of Rapid Fire) now cast stampede and send your pet in with Kill Command and continue with Arcane shots, use Fervor if you get low on focus. Cast Spirit Mend on you, with five Spirit Beasts out this will top your health, try to stay around the boss with flashlight as he has annoying habbit to summon ghost right next to him and they will one shot your pet.
If your pet dies you can rez him with Heart of the Phoenix but if you feel that boss has too much health (over 50% after the first shield drop) you can as well use Feign Death and get back in que. Will save you some gold on repairs.
After his shield pops back, Throw Ice Trap on him, call your pet back and keep it on passive, cast Readiness, try to find a lonely ghost if possible, kill it and repeat the burst phase.
Took me many, many attempts, but on the last i managed to burst him down to 36% after his first shield drop and got some lucky ghost spawns and finally killed him.

This fight can be relatively hard for melee and relatively easy for ranged. However, I found a trick to make this fight easier for melee. There's actually three different things that particularly help.
1) Be aware that the beam does not stun the ghost instantly but rather takes roughly a second. While this is quick, if you simply run straight to a ghost you're likely to get meleed. Instead, point the beam at the ghost, wait until you see it's stunned, and then walk in.
2) The beam of light is very narrow, and it can be hard to hit a given ghost with it, let-alone groups of ghost. The trick I found to this is to get all the ghosts somewhere in front of you (not necessarily in the beam, just not behind you) and then back-peddle. By back-peddling, as the ghosts follow you, they'll naturally funnel into the beam of light and all get stunned. Once they're all stunned, stop moving; the back-peddling is JUST to make sure every ghost gets in the beam. Everytime a new ghost spawns you may have to re-adjust using the same idea, and a unlucky spawn ontop of you might get you killed (the grates are safe zones, but to back-peddle you may not have the option to stop on a grate), but all in all this works pretty well.
3) Try to use specs with cleaves if possible. If you can passively put damage onto the ghosts as you attack summoner, you may be able to kill a ghost with the free damage without ever stopping attacks on Dark Summoner. The funneling technique mentioned in #2 tends to get the ghosts close to you without them meleeing you. For example, I was able to kill this fight more effectively as a Brewmaster Monk tank rather than a Windwalker Monk dps; the massive cleave from Keg Smash and Breath of Fire far out-weighed the negatives of doing far lower damage overall by being a tank. I only had to actually target two ghosts throughout the fight, with the rest dying from the passive cleaving.
I don't recommend killing each ghost as it spawns. I'm not saying this CAN'T work, but the constant running in and out and in and out trying to hit these ghosts loses you a lot of damage and increases the chance of slipping up, missing with a beam, and dying. The backpeddling technique mentioned in #2 means you'll still have to adjust occasionally, but the movement is slow and fairly controlled; the only way you should ever get meleed this way is if a ghost spawns right ontop of you.

I've been trying for hours now as a melee fury warrior, I've tried it all. Nothing is working. I'm geared enough, I know this, it will only take me two shields to down him but I keep getting overwhelmed by ghosts, when I switch to killing ghosts as priority I run out of time. And to top it off, the melee range of the ghosts is INSANE!

Well these ghosts has long melee range, fine! It one shot you, it's ok! But why did the boss summon a mob with ridiculously long melee range AND can one shot you, RIGHT next to me?

this was tricky as arms war, you need to maximize uptime on boss while picking off the summoned add at the right time (fast) often sweeps and cleave were involved. Boss was always positioned between me and and the ghost. Charge stun last long enough for the flashlight to kick in (this is good).

For the Shadow Priests out there,
As a 479 geared priest, I managed to kill this guy with pretty much no time left. I only used self-buffs along with a single 1k intel flask. Talents were as follows:
Angelic Feather
(Helps escape ghosts)
FDCL
and
Divine Insight
(to help with casting on the move and for more burst on the Summoner)
Divine Star
(I found Halo to require too much movement to be of much use).
Standing in the middle of the room is the safest spot for the beginning of the fight as long as you keep your light pointed toward the middle. Pop everything for his first vulnerable phase, intel pot, Shadowfiend, and any DI or FDCL procs. Try to keep some dots rolling on at least one ghost to help with procs throughout the fight (more dots is always better if you can spare the time to cast them). Divine Star is useful during a vulnerable phase when there are ghosts behind the Summoner, but can be cast on the move in a pinch. I survived the fight using only Divine Star, DP, and VE as my healing spells, so you shouldn't need to waste GCDs for Renew or PoM.
Last but not least, learn to control the ghosts properly. The only way to do this is to get in there and wipe several times until you get used to the mechanic. The ghosts can spawn in any of the following locations: NW, NE, W, Center, E, SW, and SE (in other words, an "H" pattern). Remember these points and keep your distance so you don't get insta-gibbed if he spawns a ghost on top of you.
Good luck to anyone attempting him and my condolences to anyone moving on to Battletron!

DEATH KNIGHTS
: Frost iLvl 479 Successful.
Strategy
:
The objective of this fight as a melee DPS is to stay sustained, and to destroy the boss as quickly as possible. I did it over 50 times trying to beat him with different ideas, and trust me - the problem is that if you aren't doing damage, you're going to lose. (Hence why Blood only does half the job, and can't kill him in time)
Stay sustained with the Dark Succor Glyph after killing a ghoul, and focus the boss from there. You may have to Death Pact to keep yourself alive - but above all, you will need to do it. Its more important that you get damage in; than lose health. If its off CD, Death Strike is always an option.
Remember to kill the ghouls with Soul Reaper as well. Its not only a set amount of Haste, its 50% of your own haste. There is no price to put on this, but the more geared you are - the better. Utilize it. It will help you massively.
And lastly - and more importantly, interrupt his Shadowbolt! Use Mindfreeze, Strangulate, or Anti-Magic Shield to reduce your damage intake and keep yourself alive and well so you can continue to DPS him!
Tips:
Try and use Death and Decay and Howling Blast to damage the ghouls while you're on the boss. This will help you more than anything else: Keeping him vulnerable.
Control Undead does not work on the ghouls or the Boss. Sorry.
Blow Army of the Dead before the fight starts if possible.
Most importantly
Do not forget to use your diseases!
I am horrible at this, so I assume others will be as well. Its very hard to focus on them with such an intense damage race, but you NEED them to do this!
Abilities/Glyphs/Talents
:
血魔之握
: A
MUST
have ability.
All I can stress about this is that you be careful when using it. Don't blow out of reflex. You'll find that as much as this helps a drastic amount, you'll get yourself killed plenty of times by pulling them to the boss in front of you; and they'll attack you as they fly.
Talents:
反魔法领域
vs
炼狱
:
Purgatory
>
Anti-Magic Zone
Anti-Magic Zone was basically forgotten to use every single time because there are 3 other primary spells you will use before it. 1. Mind Freeze, 2. Strangulate, 3. Anti-Magic Shell, (4. Dark Simulacrum)
Purgatory gives you a second chance, and more importantly 3 seconds of straight 100% nuking as your last-ditch effort. Get my point now?
Note
: Do NOT forgot about the
守护之光
! If you are pointing at the Ghouls,
obviously
you will still die, and it will not work.
vs
:
Chilblains
>
Death's Advance
Simply put, you have much more control - and deal damage with Chilblains as opposed to a very small movement speed increment on Death's Advance that will very rarely get you out of tight hairs. The ghouls already move slow enough, and this makes it all the better for your own advantage.
Abilities:
黑暗模拟
:
"Against non-players, only absorbs some harmful spells."
All in the fine print. It was a good thought, but you're better off with using Frost Strike or something else with your RP.
Glyphs:
被烧毁的雕文
被烧毁的雕文
For your 3rd its up to you. I would recommend
被烧毁的雕文
or
被烧毁的雕文
.
Helpful Macro
:
#showtooltip (Spell)
/tar Focus
/cast (Spell)
Note:
I personally used /tar focus as opposed to /tar Dark Summoner because it is highly recommended that you /focus him before he begins casting so you can see him casting his spells and interrupt them without switching targets just to see.
I recommend using this for Mind Freeze and Strangulate. Anti-Magic Shell is not included because you do not need to target him, just have him focused and use it appropriately.

As an Arms Warrior, ilvl 479 (Shin'ka, Execution of Dominion - Raid Finder 2/2), I had a ton of trouble with this fight. However, once I got the pattern and strategy down, I knew he could be beaten. The only buffs I had were a food buff (+200 Mastery) and the strength flask (+1320 strength). I was able to get him down to <2k health when I wiped because I forgot to use Die by the Sword.
On my successful attempt, I joined a full buff group. My talents are:
Double Time
Second Wind
Disrupting Shout
Shockwave
Mass Spell Reflection
Avatar
Here's how the fight went:
At the start, I Charged him and MS'ed him to build 50 rage. Then, when he summoned the ghoul, I walked towards it until it was stunned and then Charged it. The only cooldown I popped was Berserker Rage. After the ghoul's death, I proceeded to attack the Summoner until the next ghoul.
From this point on, I killed ghouls as convenient while balancing as much DPS on the boss as possible. The key is when there are two or more ghouls up, to always position yourself so your flashlight is shining through the first ghoul and stunning the second. Then, you're able to kill one and kill the other after a Charge. It's imperative that you keep less than two ghouls up at any one time, or else they have the risk of running amok. Unless you're burning the boss down, I would suggest never having more than two ghouls around.
When my health got low, probably around 30-40%, I popped a potion. In my kill attempt, I had a Health Stone, so I was able to use that as well. Otherwise, Second Wind kept me up, or at least at high enough health to survive. (After 5.2, when Second Wind is nerfed, I don't know how viable that is.) Victory Rush from the ghoul deaths was also critical.
Regarding the Dark Summoner's attacks, I tried to interrupt his spell casts when I could, but I didn't worry about it. I focused instead on DPSing the boss and the ghouls. I found that Second Wind and Victory Rush kept me alive.
At about 30% I popped all of my CD's (Avatar, Skull Banner, Recklessness, Deadly Calm, and Berserker Rage), and proceeded to DPS the boss. Die by the Sword was used to keep myself alive as I spammed Execute and prayed for crits.
Honestly, the fight has a lot of luck involved. The ghoul spawns are critical to your success or failure, so it will take quite a few attempts. It's very frustrating. But, once you get the positioning down, the fight gets much easier. (But still very frustrating.) :(
(If you're curious how my first fight on Battletron went, well, my cat stepped in front of my computer and I couldn't see the fight. I was doing well, too, having only detonated two bombs! Stupid cat!)

Playing a ilvl 509 arms warrior, this was an incredibly stupid fight.
As much as I love the fact that blizzard is trying to pull a Nintendo and incorporate Luigi's Mansion into their game, they made this completely luck based.
I say this because you are lucky to:
- Not have a ghost spawn right on top of you.
- Have your stun work upon said ghosts.
- Not having the ghosts randomly turn into hunters and hit you from 8+ yards away.
- Not throw your computer out your window due to the amount of frustration you will experience.
I haven't died in the Brawler's guild till this fight. I highly suggest not attempting it, but if you do here's a run down.
Dark summoner is invulnerable, and his shield can only be removed by killing a ghost that he will spawn, (Makes no sense but ok.) The ghosts move pretty slow, will vary upon how far they can hit you. But if they hit you, it's a 1 shot. For roughly ~510,000, in order to hit them first, you must use your incredibly tiny flashlight to stop them from moving. If you make the slightest turn, they will no longer be stunned. So if you manage to kill a ghost, jump on the summoner, (save your cds for when he loses the shield.) He has like 4 mil health, so if you'll have to manage to kill about 3 or 4 ghosts.
Also he spawns more ghosts, so you'll have you work your stun around 3 or 4 ghosts during the entire encounter.
Good f#@$ing luck.
edited: minor mistakes.

The ghost's don't actually one shot you. They deal enough damage to one shot most classes from the health pools we currently have. As a well geared hunter (510 i lvl) this proved to be the by far the easiest boss at rank 7.
And now - before anyone mentions Meatball, let me explain why.
As a surv hunter in 500+ i lvl gear you can make a lot of dmg - very fast.
So what i did was burn one ghost down, and then fire all my load at Dark Summoner. By doing this i managed to get him down with only 1 ghost down, i had around 200 k dps at the end of battle.
So if you can burst enough, ignore interrupting and just FIRE AWAY!

Also, it appears that any fear from any class can fear the ghosts. Probably due to the fact that you fear them with the flashlight they give you anyway.

Elemental Shaman Guide:
This guy took a little bit of reigning in to get. The key here is to RELAX. Take your time. His HP isn't that great, and if you kill the ghosts, you've got it. But relaxing and not trying to blow through his health in the first 2 lapses of his invulnerability was hard to get under control.
Step 1: Keep grounding totem and HST totem up as you can. When Grounding expires the first time, use Sham. Rage to reduce the incoming damage to a managable amount. While you're focused on him, you can interrupt him fine, but while you're killing ghosts it can be a pain. Kill your first ghost by pointing your body at him. Light him up with a FS+LvB or EB and he should go down(If you have lower GS, it might take 4-5 casts, making this fight signifigantly more difficult).
Step 2: Ghost dead. Turn your attention towards the summoner. Drop your Grounding totem if it's up, or HST if it's up. Interrupt his first cast, then light him up with a few spells. DO NOT POP ASCENDENCE YET. Make sure you get flame shock on him, though. He will cast SUMMON GHOST or whatever it's called.
Step 3: Turn your body towards the ghost, pop Ascendance, light up the ghost.
Step 4: Light him up with a lava bursts.
You may have to kill up to four ghosts, depending on your damage output, but this is the basic way I handled it. Grounding totem FTW.

BM Hunter kill - 27 July 2013
I did not think I could nerd-rage in WoW for anything. I was right until Dark Summoner. It took me about 25 attempts of bad RNG, with ghosts spawning on top of me, getting one-shot, etc.
So here's for my successful attempt:
TURN ON NAME PLATES (v) or make a /target Tormented Ghost macro
Backpeddle into a wall at all times
Spec Barrage to hit Boss + ghosts when applicable
Pet on passive (I used Spirit beast for the heal) and pop Stampede early
BW when ghosts pop
But most of all:
Stay patient and keep trying. It is absolutely frustrating to get one-shot because of RNG, but keep trying!

As an Enhancement Shammy,
For this, when DS spawned and summoned the first ghost I placed Searing Totem and Grounding Totem straight away, to absorb the first Shadow Bolt whilst I was busy slapping the ghost.
When I had the ghost down to around 25%, I popped all my CD's, Wolves, Fire Elemental, Heroism, the job lot, so I didn't waste time casting these abilities whilst his shield was down, as you only get 15 seconds or so.
I never allowed more than 2 ghosts to spawn at once, you will quickly be overwhelmed if you do so imo, and positioning them all correctly will be a nightmare. When two ghosts spawn, I immediately burst the two of them down before proceeding to hit the boss again. Just make sure you have actually stunned them before you stroll over there, or they will tear you a new... When hitting the boss, I allowed the ghosts to move as close as possible, without moving within range of hitting me like a mule on crack, followed the usual dps rotation whilst remembering to Fire Nova on c/d to hit the ghosts in range and Chain Lightning when I had the 5 stack proc.
I honestly didn't bother about the Shadow Bolts too much, I placed Grounding totem and Sheared when I wasn't busy going nut ^&*! dps tunneling. Chaining Healing Stream and Astral Guidance helped a bunch to regen health on this encounter and using the 5 Maelstrom stack to heal if necessary.
All in all, run in, *!@#$ slap him with shield down and don't allow the ghosts to become too numerous.

For Paladins, I beat it by simply going back to my history.
Back to when Pallies were OP.
In other words
of the Lich King.
More seriously,
is a spamable spell that as many retladins can attest, gives you plenty of dps, has range, and is awesome in general. Rets being haste-focused, we can stand to spam this at ghosts instead of doing the legit thing and actually fighting them.
Yes, in short, the best way to beat this as a Melee Paladin DPS, is to ignoren both the Melee and Paladin parts and spam a ranged druid spell. Adding in
and the ocassional Excorcism or Judgement to fuel it lets you essentially operate as a quite effective take on the old "Shockladin".

I beat this easy as a fury warr. I shined the light on the ghost and approached them. The light kept them from attacking as well, so I could kill them. More importantly, killing them gave me Victory Rush, allowing me to heal throughout the fight. Just make sure the light is point right at the ghost and walk up to it, kill it, and switch. You just have to be fast and on top of your game.
评论来自
enzd1
A quick warning: do not ever underestimate these ghosts and their "melee" range. Don't even get within 20 yards of one unless you've shined your light on it.
Also, Paladins can use Turn Evil on the tormented ghosts. The usefulness of this is questionable... it's a quick way to keep an extra ghost away from you at least.

Really easy once I figured out what was happening.
Walk backwards...
Ghosts seem to kill you in one hit so stay away from them.
You seem to have a light helmet during the fight - shine it around. You'll see 2 ghosts appear - but you only have to kill ONE to make him vulnerable. Once he is - burn him down.
That's it.
(keep in mind I can burn him double quick with my gear/cooldowns so if you have low gear - you might have to try this a few times - meaning kill a ghost, burn him, kill another ghost, burn him because with lower gear you won't be able to burn him in one shot like I did)

This boss proved to be the most difficult for me aside from Ahoo'ru, the last boss and who I've stopped at, because of the rng of where the ghosts spawn and that they spawn approx. every 12 secs.
With current gear I don't think you'd be able to burst the boss down with only killing 1 or 2 adds so you'll need to stay on top of killing them, if you leave too many up it becomes extremely difficult to stop them all getting into melee range and 1 shotting you.
I did this by taking Barrage and A Murder of Crows, I had my pet on passive and kept it on the Dark Summoner the whole time. AMoC is great as you can put it on a ghost and then continue to focus the boss, I would also Kill Shot the ghost when it was <20% and because I had the ghosts die in less than 15 secs, AMoC's cd would reset allowing me to use it on another ghost and so on. Barrage obviously helps with dpsing the boss plus all the ghosts that are currently up depending on if you can position yourself to hit everything. After killing the first add was when I popped hero, agi pot, trinket and tried to burst the boss as much as possible.
Also I'm not sure if the bosses Shadow Bolt ability has been squished, it's currently hitting for 97k so you really need to interrupt it.

Warlords of Draenor. This boss is litteraly impossible. no one will have enough dps to take him down while killing ghosts. Think we will have to wait until we have full raid mythical raid gear before we can even attempt this boss.

Shadowbolt hits for pretty stupidly high amounts so it's important to interrupt it if you can.

Killed it as a Blood DK by just passively grinding down the ghosts with glyphed Blood Boil and Defile, staying fulltime on the Dark Summoner himself after killing the first ghost.
Ghosts wont oneshot you if they hit you but they hit hard, so with backpedalling around the room you can avoid most of their damage as they stop for a split second every time you strafe the light past them.
Not really worth Dark Simming his shadowbolt ability as it only hit him back for 4k damage.
Ended the fight with 22k dps and 20 seconds till enrage.

Did the WoD version today as an arms warrior. 641 item level (with the 660 crafted weapon; couldn't of done it without it).
Important talents/glyphs:
Sudden Death (helps take down ghosts quicker).
Dragon Roar (oh crap button + good damage)
NO talent selected for the level 75 tier; all of them are worthless and mass spell reflect will make it impossible to reflect every shadow bolt.
Bladestorm
Ravager
Glyph of Unending Rage (just all around good for everything)
Glyph of the Executor
(anything not listed isn't important)
This fight is, of course, heavily dependent on luck. Not as bad as pandaland though since the ghosts now only spawn in 7 places (corners, middle, sides). You'll want ghosts to spawn nearby but not on top of you, and hope you don't get boxed in. The absolute worst thing that can happen is being attacked by ghosts to the side; it takes a lot of maneuvering to get them all lined up again.
The general strategy is to heavily abuse sweeping strikes. Line up the ghosts as best you can so you can whack the Dark Summoner directly and incidentally kill ghosts at the same time. Ravager is good to assist you with this; it really softens up the group of ghosts you have stunned nearby. Good damage output is essential; the 660 crafted weapon made this possible for me.
Dragon Roar and Bladestorm are your only real defense to being swarmed by ghosts. Roar will be able to give you a little wiggle room if you're getting attacked, and bladestorm used properly will eliminate all of them. I saved Die by the Sword for the execute phase and it saved my butt; it's no fun to try to reposition when he's got 80k health left and the fire is falling around you.
Nitty gritty things:
- Pre-pot to get the first ghost down quicker.
- Charge at the start to get some rage.
- Do not charge ghosts; they're just as likely to kill you as get stunned.
- Remember your light is a cone, not a rectangle. Keep the ghosts in a straight line as much as possible.
- Keyboard turning makes light positioning a lot easier; mouse turning doesn't turn your light at the same time. Strafing had similar wonky behavior with light position for me.
Good luck!

For all fury warriors out there I hope this will gleam some hope for you to bring him down.
What I used:
德拉诺强效力量合剂
黑石烤肉
狂怒战鼓
坚韧强化符文
Try get a buff party, all buffs you can get from players is good to.
Itemlevel 648/650
In the beginning I have many whipes because of lacking DPS. I was at that moment playing with titans grip with two 640 weapons from LFR HM.
I obtained chest and head PvP gear 660 to get the 50% chance for Bloodthirst to be critical after charge. I decided to try SMF and I felt it worked out better for me. The weapons I had for SMF was heroic warforged + gem version
萨贝克的野蛮长剑
and
查德里克的失落之斧
. To get more execute procs.
My talent/Glyph setup was this:
Double Time, Enraged Regeneration, Sudden Death, Shockwave, Vigilance, Bladestorm and Anger Management.
Most important talents in my opinion though:
Double Time, Shockwave, bladestorm and Anger Management. Since if you hit more than 3 targets with shockwave its cooldown will be reduced by 20sec and for every 30 rage spent with anger management you reduce cooldown with 1 sec.
Glyph:
Rude Interruption, Glyph of Heroic Leap and Bull Rush.
The fight:
Start by charging the summoner and wait for him to cast Shadow bolt and pay attention where the ghost spawns. When you interrupted shadowbolt, charge imminently on the ghost and popp
拳手的无尽德拉诺力量药水
+ Berserker rage to the kill ghost quickly then connect to the summoner again using all CDS +
狂怒战鼓
. When the Dark Summoner starts to get a new protection shield try to walk near a ghost and use Bladestorm/whirlwind to dps both or just kill the ghost quickly if you can't WW or BS.
When the ghosts start to get to many use Shockwave + Bladestorm, and try to have the summoner near you so he can take damage while you cleave down the ghosts. Use heroic leap if you need to reposition to get the ghosts in the lightbeam.
While the summoners protection aura is down and he casts Shadow bolt, try to use Spell Reflection to boost the damage.
You can also use Die by Swords to avoid getting hit by the ghosts and you can also you fear.
The fight itself is very RNG for melees, so you need to have some Luck and some patience to make this.
Hope this helped in some way, good luck!

If you continue to be badly stuck on this, get yourself a Gnomish Gearworks in your garrison, and wait for Sticky Grenade day. The sticky grenades if used on CD will both basically just eat all the ghosts so long as your positioning is good, and will almost certainly do more dps then you could have done solo, they are amazing. If you still can't do it, wait for Sticky Grenades to line up right after Robo Rooster for the extra single target dps on the boss.

Have to comment after being stuck on this fight. As melee you need to be FAR away from the ghosts as their "melee" attack is more like a 10 yard ranged attack. I have died countless times from seemingly nothing, only to check the logs and yep, the ghosts have an extremely large melee range.

Ok, arms warrior, full 660 pvp (with pvp trinkets etc). No buffs except my AP buff, no pots, no parties etc.
Get bladestorm and shockwave, other talents dont matter.
In this fight you just have to pop your cooldowns at the right time.
First, charge to boss, rend him to get some damage as soon as the shield is gone, get some rage with aa's. As soon as you kill the first ghost and the second one appears, move the boss close to ghost, use colossus on the boss and bladestorm (no bursts yet). If you're lucky, you will kill two ghosts now, if not, you're still ok. Dps the ghosts while dpsing the boss as much as possible (use your cleave ability as much as you can). After about a minute, ghosts wll start overwhelming you, backpeddle to corner, wait for your bladestorm, colossus the boss, press every offensive cooldown you have, use die by the sword and bladestorm them. After this, just burn the boss and pray for execute crits. When the ghosts start owerwhelming you again, use fear and stun, dont bother damaging them, at this moment boss should have less than 20% left. There's alot of luck involved in this fight, but it's possible.
Some last minute tips:
-reflect shadow bolts when boss is not shielded, interrupt when he is (probably you may want to get 6% glyph, but i didn't bother)
-don't use whirlwind, it's not worth it. Damage ghosts with direct attacks while close to boss and use sweeping strikes as much as possible to get some damage. I also had slam, but this is not mandatory
-try to keep just one or two ghosts alive, you can line them up without fear of being flanked and killed. If there's more than 3 ghosts alive, use bladestorm, die by the sword or you control abilities (fear and shockwave)
Well, that's it. Good luck (you will need it).

PLS, BLIZZARD, make ghost spawning next to the walls not exactly on our back.. with their hit range and how hard they hit, this boss is nearly unkillable, we have to have a lot of luck.. Oh, cmon. U updated the boss but still didn't fix bugs! And made it even harder, cuz ghosts do one shot now and summoner's bolts hits for 80-90k..
This boss is the hardest, even Ahoo'ru is easier..

I can say this... DS is not fun to fight as melee.. but apparently its is possible since i saw a 670 Dk kill it before i did... and i m 657... ._ . I have pots, lust, and food... i even have a level 90 druid rezzing me and buffing me with mofw... but i was close to 73k... and I just have to get him to descent amounts so i can pop wings and bubble and shoo shoo... but he cast his ghost... every five seconds. i tried stacking and dpsing them down... but the light is soo dam small like ugh... litertiy i am at wipe 46... been at it for almost 4-5hrs ._ . i m not whining or %^&*!ing but last season DS was such a pushover. Even if i manage to kil lthis thing... i will have that satisfaction ._ . Already wasted 1,5kg on lust drums.

After countless wipes on this guy as a Feral Druid I was seriously considering speccing Boomkin just for this fight when I finally found a strat that worked.
Stay stealth till he 1st ghost spawns, kill it, pop Berserk and rape the boss until 2 ghosts spawn. Then kill the 2 ghosts and DPS the boss until 2 more ghosts spawn. Rinse and repeat, DPSing the boss until 2 ghosts spawn then kill them and go back to the boss. This way you can keep the 2 ghosts in your flashlight together.
Just use single target DPS since swipe isn't very effective with a small handful of targets. Each time you go back to the boss get some bleeds on him and go back to killing ghosts. Using this method (with a GS of 680) I killed him before the enrage without ever having more than 2 ghosts up except at the end when I just burned the boss.

General advice for any
melee
- dont run around the ring for every ghost like a crazy, go to the edge of ring, don't move, hit Summoner, keep ALL arrival ghosts in front of you, move with caution, kill ghost that nearest to you by AoE abilities.
This is a working strategy for
monk
at least 660 ilvl (i'm done it at 662)
1. Spec to Brewmaster (better AoE that WW for this fight, and I think it is a only class that can survive after ghost hit (because of stagger).
2. Take a Glyph of Keg Smash (for better AoE), Guard (for shadow bolt absorb), Touch of Death (for instakill at low hp without waiting for 3 Chi)
3. Take a next talents: Chi Burst (for better AoE), Charging Ox Wave (for AoE stopping of ghosts), Diffusive magic (it helps if you can't have enough Chi for Guard and Shadow bolt hit you in next second), Xuen (better than wind, dont require energy), Chi explosion (for AoE)
BEFORE the fight - spam Expel Harm for maximum number of Chi. You must enter to the ring with 4 Chi. Show HP bar at top of the enemy for fastest ghost searching.
Stage 0. After Dark Summoners appealing - cast Guard and forget about 1-st shadow bolt.
Stage 1. After 1-st ghost appeal - roll to him and kill as fast as possible (but without Touch of Death and Xuen). If 2-nd ghost appel near to you - kite Summoner and ghost to the edge of the ring (keep ghost in front of you all time). Else - go to the 2-nd ghost and kill him. Kite summoner to the edge of the ring.
Stage 2. Hit the summoner with Xuen and all possible bursts. Ghosts will move to you slowly - you must keep all of them in front of you by good positioning and reaction. You need to organize a "line" (queue) - summoner - nearest ghost - other ghosts. Slow the farest ghosts by Dizzying Haze and Charging Ox Wave. Hit all in line by Chi Burst, hit Summoner by Keg Smash and Chi Explosion - it will damage arrival ghosts too and you will apply a constant debuff on him.
Stage 3. Just kill him with Touch of Death at low hp.
Of course you need a some number of tries - ghost spawn randomly. But I think at 10-15 tries with this strategy should be enough.

I read through these comments and didn't see it anywhere but may have missed it but if you bring a friend they can use markers on the ghosts and save you from any harmful ambushes you are not aware of :)

Seriously, the attack range of those ghosts is unreal. I've died repeatedly thinking they were out of arms reach and then suddenly getting my face punched in. Trying to do this as a ret pally and I've tried keeping my back to the wall but was getting killed by ghosts that i couldn't even reach with melee attacks. i was keeping summoner interrupted, so i know it wasn't him killing me. my best run so far as been done by waiting to interrupt summoner, then running around and killing any ghosts before coming back to wait for the next interrupt.always spamming aoe's so damage is still getting put on the summoner
Still no actual kill. I understand making it hard and all, but seriously? Does the ghost really need a melee reach so big that its practically ranged?

1) Kill first ghost.
2) DPS Dark Summoner
3) When 2nd ghost spawns, be sure to point your beam towards the 2nd ghost as you continue to dps the dark summoner.
4) When 3rd ghost spawns, it's time to take out the 2nd and 3rd ghost.
Always attempt to keep the ghosts in your beam as you dps the dark summoner. Try not to let more than a couple of ghosts up at the same time for the first minute. After the first minute expires it will get a lot harder to keep up with the ghosts, so DPS hard that first minute.

Rogues! Here is what I did.
ilv697, assasination with legendary ring
Used Hyper Augment Rune and Sturgeon stew (75 haste) before fight.
Relevant Talents: Cloak and Dagger, Cheat Death, Marked for Death (maybe prey on the weak and nightstalker too)
Fight itself:
Wait in stealth till summon.
Open with ambush or cheap shot on first ghost before summoner hits you (
don't be in his melee
)
Ignore shadow bolts.
Finish the ghost with as little energy use as possible,
DO NOT use combo points.
Use ring, vendetta, brawler agi potion and dps the hell out of the summoner
Watch out for ghost placement and re-place yourself
When ring goes of, you'll either kill or seriously hurt the ghosts, kill one if necessary to re-vulnerabilize him
Finish him
You can take a hit and survive a little thanks to cheat death
Legendary dps ring makes this kind of easier but it's still a lot to do with replacement. You get a ghost summoned on top of you or you get surrounded, it's still near impossible to pull of. I reckon with higher ilvl you may be able to one-shot him though.
Good luck!
And Blizzard, please re-iterate this fight next expansion!

I think this is the first time I've made a comment on wowhead for years solely because of this fight... It's driving me nuts..
Have been stuck on this bastard for a good 4-5 days, and about 2k worth of repairs out of my own gold (my guild aint happy either lol)
The RNG dependency of this fight is absolutely insane, and the thing that makes it worse is that I've got him down to (literally, truthfully) 650 hp or so
four times
then bit the ghostly fist-dust.
The reason I'm making this comment is not to whine (alright maybe a little), but to let other people know before you take this on:
Don't be greedy like me! If you're close to killing it, play it safe! Keep yourself alive, and the chances will present themselves!
If I had just focused on staying out of reach of his ghosts, I would have killed this skeletal scumpuppy four times over. Remember, stick to the strategy.

Hunter Strat: Watch Video Below
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ZBoRG8jH4I
1. Keep pet on passive and on Dark Summoner.
2. Keep Ice Trap up and use Binding Shot on CD.
3. Kite ghosts and dps Dark Summoner.
4. Profit
Hint: I was BM Spec. I had a flask, food, agility pot, and drums.
I one shotted it using the video strat above, good luck guys, hope it helped!

No two ways about this, this guy is a !@#$.
For my melee two cents (after several hundred gold worth of repairs), try to keep a dot on him and keep killing ghosts. As they keep doing damage and the consistent kills on ghosts keep him open to receive the damage.
This was a feral kitty, 100 ilvl 697.

I used to think this guy was bad with the random nature of the ghost drops (wipes out of your control happen here), but he is a cupcake compared to Ahoo'ru - which is by far the most ridiculous fight in the entire lineup. You will look back and enjoy Dark Summoner once you faceplant on Ahoo'ru. I have 3 toons stuck on Ahoo'ru.

The fight is pretty much impossible as an Enh shaman. Proof that Blizzard is ignoring the community.
No matter what I do, the ghosts (which can only 2 hit me) kill me because their stun sometimes fails, a ghost kills me from 30 yards away, and when I get him down to 10% and killing the last ghost, the random (UNANNOUNCED!) Enraging Flames finish me off because I was "taking too long" (any time over 60 seconds is apparently taking too long)
I wanted to win because they literally have the one item I've been trying to get for ages now(I've spent a month attempting this -one- fight)
I guess you just either need to be one of the unbalanced classes or have a way to keep the substantial damage from you to win.
I've spent thousands of gold repairing from this fight alone.

For those that want to kill every boss before they gone in the legion pre-patch and, like me, want to know if is needed to folow any tacticts to kill this boss: as elemental shaman 738 wait for ghost, kill it, then nuke boss in 18 secs while he is not immune. If needed, kill another ghost to remove boss damage immunity and kill him.
Used Primal Fire Elemental with glyph so it is up every fight,
拳手的德拉诺智慧药水
, Ring, Ascendence, Elemental Mastery and Spiritwalker's Grace (in case you really need to move)
Hope this could save time to someone!

This fight is not as hopelessly rng as it feels. Here are some tips!
-The ghosts spawn in an H pattern in the arena, randomly at some point along the H. If you mostly stick to the top or bottom of the arena and move around when he is not summoning another ghost, you may not,get hit at all.
-Only takes one ghost to break his shield but it doesn't stay broken forever. Kill the first ghost asap but then kite any more that spawn so they stay stunned until you need them dead.
-Line of sight is EVERYTHING. Your flashlight must be lined up straight on in order to stun a ghost. If you strafe or turn at all, the light likely will move with your head, so the ghost will be freed.
-There is no limit to how many ghosts you can stun at a time, if you kite a bit and line them up, you can have a packed arena and still be fine.
-I waited until a few ghosts would spawn and I had them all stunned to kill them and then popped all my CDs and he went down very quickly. DoTs are very helpful here.
-Yes, the ghosts seem able to hit you up to almost 2 meters away. Yes it is stupid far, yes they hit for stupid amounts of damage. This in mind, don't just run straight up to a ghost the second it spawns. Give it a second to be sure it is stunned first.
-Keep nameplates on, they show up right before the ghost so it could save you by a half second from being one shot or almost one shot.
This fight is simpler than it seems, but also much harder in practice due to yes... Rng. Maybe the ghosts spawn at the far corners of the earth from you and you only have to wiggle a bit in order to stun them and keep them away. Maybe they spawn next door and now you have to strafe the whole arena to kite. Buuut if you remain mostly at the top and bottom where ghosts do not show up, you should really be fine. Stay calm, be patient, and don't get lazy with LoS. You should be fine.
Killed him as a feral@ilvl704 using flasks, brawler potion, and my own buffs.
Edit: ALSO do not even worry about the boss until you can hit him. One small heal over time easily erases the damage he does to you. Interrupt his spellcasting if you need to but otherwise you have little to fear from him. And NO you cannot interrupt the summoning of a ghost.
