You may hear that these things are stealthy, but they have a big agro range. Odds are unless you have your details set high on availability to see you will be within it before you see it.
These devilsaurs don't have a special attack, but (from their names) I think they have more armor than the other two varieties.
Actually these devilsaurs do have a special attack. They stun you every once in awhile, which is something the other devilsaurs don't do.
i kill them pretty simpel solo in lvl 56 white my hunter
they dont got any funny drop but the skins is devilsaur leather
and you can make pretty nice rogue and hunter gear of them
I killed 3 of these and they dropped nothing. Not a single copper.
56 prot warrior and a 53 affliction warlock saw him and wondered if we could take him down....dropped him in a minute. fun and not a pain with two people.
Be advised that these guys have been known by my own experience catch you on your 60% speed mount
These guys are a real pain in the ass the lower levels when you are in Un'Goro, they have a big aggro range and a tendency to sneak up on you since they dont make much noise,
I came back through Un'Goro at lvl 58, omw to Silithus, and met this bastard.
Payback time i thought to myself...
If you keep your camera angled down, you're almost certain not to see this thing until it's on top of you, because the model is absolutely
. You can't get its head onscreen while it's standing up, it's that big. It also hits quite hard when you're 50-55.
On the plus side, it's a useful resolution to ganking if you're lucky. I led an overzealous spawncamping horde into this thing's path, with amusing results :>
Solo'd one as a level 56 enhancement shaman without any real trouble. I attacked with only 800 mana and used Shamanistic Rage right away. They hit for about 200-300 on Mail it seems about every 2.5 seconds.
One of these guys walks from about 57.23 to 71.26 where he wanders a bit then turns south-west and goes to 63.34, he then turns and walks back on the same path which is not very straight-forward tbh. I let it attack me for at least 2 minutes and he didn't use any special abilities. I dodged/parried/missed most of its attacks but otherwise he was hitting me for ~200 (I have about ~7k armour). Ofc trappable and shouldn't be much of a problem taming them :)
As far as I can tell, all the Devilsaurs have a shared spawn point. A friend asked me to kill a Tyrant Devilsaur on its path. Once this was done, we got 'visits' from an Ironhide Devilsaur and a normal Devilsaur walking along the exact same path as the Tyrant.
Now that they're tameable, there's a lot more reason to want to find a specific type of Devilsaur, so hunters, feel free to do some ganking and clear the path for the Devilsaur you really want. ... and make a whole lot of people very happy while doing it.
I tamed one of these a couple of days back. Their attacks are somewhat amusing; they stomp on their foes, and take a massive bite outta them! :P
Just had the best fight of my life!
Solo'd an Ironside Devilsaur lvl55 and I'm a lvl52 feral druid.....:)
I have a single piece of Devilsaur Leather in my backpack to prove it.....
so much fun....I have master of anatomy rank 4 and lifeblood rank 4.....gear is average for lvl.....stayed in kitty form.....yes really!....only used nature's grasp once and only one heal needed...so go have some fun...don't be afraid of the big bad devilsaur...it's a nothing!
Oh yeah infected wounds and kiting FTW!
(ok so it took me 4 attempts to actually kill it, but wow! awesome fight)
Yogi (Druids of the Claw) - Lvl52 Feral :)
I soloed one of these as a level 51 ret paladin. I had to blow both Divine Shield and Lay on Hands, but it wasn't terribly hard. He hits like a truck even on plate.
Soloed at lvl 52 ret pala. Very easy didn't use divine shield or Lay on hands
Hunters: You can track these guys with Track Beasts. Their fast speed makes them easy to pick out as their red blip moves across your minimap much faster than other creatures.
This applies to all Devilsaurs. Makes it quite easy to avoid these guys sneaking up on you.
I came back one day as a level 80 and spent an hour killing every devilsaur I could find. My revenge was complete!
Something tells me that these set the example for the Fel Reavers in Hellfire.
Easy as cake :)
it was a bit hard finding this particular devilsaur but the whole taming process was easy as pie/cake :)
You should have no problems if you just find a spot where you can lay down a trap and start taming without being interferred by mobs, alliance/horde.
Naming it with the right name seems to be the hardest part :P
Would you be able to get a devilsaur...If u learn beast mastery, then when u get it, Change your talent spec?
I named mine George. /tar George
I tamed my ironhide devilsaur with my dawrf today......I called him *!@#$%^BAG^^
As of patch 3.2, you can hear your pet devilsaur roar.
Just tammed last night on Runetotem. Ran right into him dumped my Ghost Saber, Iced him and got caught by two of his hits but kept the tame on. Nice DPS and looks real good with my Black Dragon Armor too! ;p
just baged me Ironhide frist try no kick or anything my frist exotic pet whooo me ganna name him Blackfire
question: can a priest power word: shield do any good for taming? seems like the damage reduction would be a good idea if you know a friendly priest thats willing to shield you. if not freezing trap won't break the tame right? never tried it...
I didn't see this mentioned here:
Ironhide utilises the
Just got this for my hunter, Haven't Played him much yet but so far so good, i found him @ about 37.1 :) Scared the shizz outta me though, HES BIG! =O
~Dixie on Blades Edge!
Is there only one Devilsaur spawned at a time? The reason I ask is because I've been running around searching for this one but only cam across the white one for over an hour.
This NPC can be found in Un'Goro Crater
I tamed this Devilsaur as easy as I woulda tamed a boar in Valley of Trials.
Attack - Trap - Tame - Take a few hits - New pet!
I think it's the easiest Un'Goro Devilsaur to tame, as it got no attack that interrupts the taming process.
PS!: He kinda looks like a chicken while he runs...
PPS!: Blizzard, if you ever will read this, make a jumping-animation for all tameable beasts! :D
I tamed one of those about a month ago, after leveling my paladin, and decided i would take a break. Upon logging in my devilsaur (i was in orgrimmar at the time) grew to the size of the dinos you should recall running from franticly from, turned hostile and proceeded to attack me in middle of town, but no one else seemed to notice. After about 15-20 seconds of running for my life with guards and players doing nothing, it shrunk back to its normal size and returned to my side seemingly unawares of what had occured...
Caught this baby earlier today. Named him "Jellyfish". Dunno why.
soloed this bastard as a frost mage at lvl 52... i had 20% life on cd and had to pop the elemental Freeze and preety much nuked the guy down. Shatter rocks.
These things look hilarious when they swim.
As cool as it is to have a pet devilsaur, BM hunters seeking one (I named mine Nibbler) should know that they make a
of noise compared to many other pets - enough so it's a deal breaker for me. YMMV, of course.
For a three-storey dinosaur, they are very stealthy. That's why I adopt the maneuver of walking along the edges of the Un'Goro Crater when I go there by horse... I was ambushed once by this lizard, and I've been in therapy ever since.
I camped Golakka Hot Springs and saw it roaming the area. Only hunters with the 51 point Beast Mastery talent will be able to tame these exotic beasts.
I just got all three devilsaurs today. It took about 30 minutes or less. I just flew around. I have King Krush too, so now my collection is complete. I didn't notice to many hunters in the area anyhow.
Spawns at 33, 38 and often. Was flying around looking for the white one and saw this guy spawn 3x in 30min
I've been circling Un'Goro for nearly an hour and a half now and have seen 4 tyrant devilsaurs, 1 devilsaur, but no ironhide devilsaur
either I'm just unlucky or everyone else is lucky...
edit: finally found him a bit north of the raptors
now I'm off to find Nuramoc...
RUN! IT'S GODZILLA!
I sat waiting at those coords for awhile, but he didn't spawn. I flew around a bit and came across one of the red devilsaurs and killed it. I flew back to this spot and saw two of these suckers walking around. Promptly unmounted placed a freezing trap, hit tame, and voila! He was all mine. Named him Roflsaurus.
I want to tame one....and then name it Godzilla...Sometimes I hate guild dares XD
Edit: I tamed one around the entrance to Un'Goro. His new name is, Bob.
I found my Ironhide Devilsaur at 34.23
The black is def my fav Devilsaur skin. Named mine Alejandro :)
Killed the white one on accident, then decided to look to Wowhead and realized there were more options for this cool looking Dino. Decided that I wanted to farm Ironhide. Found Tyrant around The Rolling Gardens. Flew around to about Mossy Pile, found King Mosh and the white one again, walking together. Killed them, and then found Ironhide down in The Slithering Scar at about (44, 70).
Dinged 69 up in Borean Tundra, immediately hearthed and headed to Un'goro to tame my Ironhide. Took a lot of flying around before I found him just north of the Raptors. Named him Ninjasaurus, 'cause I've been nailed by this guy SO MANY TIMES!
Like many others -- at 69 I went back to hunt for this beauty -- and he was at 32, 37. Some other type of devilsaur were in this area, which I eliminated, and then he spawned.
wats the npc id for this pet?
OMG the devilsaurs are stealthy, when i was taming a Tyrant Devilsaur, this big guy snuck up behind my friend, so i tamed both and called this guy ninjasaurus!
If they actually made the WoW-movie one day, imagine hunter walking around with a t-rex on his command. :P
This is my main hunter pet I always use. Though im sure mop will change our years love together as mop is getting better graphic Devilsaurs. :/ Awsome though Steelback (what i named him at least a year and 3 months or so ago) is awsome.
I first found a Tyrant Devilsaur roaming east of Marshal's Stand, then a white Devilsaur spawned to the west (The Screaming Reaches).
I was getting frustrated looking for this guy, so I used my npcscan addon to search for him. It went off about 10 min later around 65.32, northwest of the Roiling Garden. He appeared to have just spawned when I landed to tame him.
One spawn point seems to be 70.29. I have found the Ironhide one just standing there next to a large tree several times. I'm hunting it for the Ironhide Leggings it drops.
When looking at the map up above of all the sightings of this Devilsaur, look at the large Y shaped path on the right and the spawn location is on the upper-right end of that specific path.
Since when is he not tameable? I know I have him on my lvl 90 hunter. I am reading comments here of people having him. Tried to tame today (3/23/2014 @201pm ) on Misha server, and it said "this target not tameable". SO confused.
If you want to tame a Devilsaur with the black skin model, I suggest going after
in Netherstorm, rather than this one, as Tyrantus is MUCH easier to find.
i can't tame it
Soloed him at 50 on my guardian druid today.
Found this one today 70, 27 when I was looking for the white devilsaur. He was stuck in a hill and didn't move.
Hey guys. I don't know if it is from the Micro-Event and it failed to change or if it is supposed to be like this now. But I was in Un'goro today farming the Dark Spear Recipe and I ran into this guy and surprise! He is level 110. He isn't hard to kill at 110, but it can take a bit. I don't know if it is supposed to match our level now or if he was left over from the Micro-Holiday. But wanted to let lower levels not to be aware of these things again.
