On BETA this boss fight isn't that bad from what I have seen.
First you kill the scroll, only takes a few hits.
Then two NPC's spawn Anger and Strife.
Both Spam a attack call Anger and Strife, these attacks can't be silence.
Whenever someone is attacking either of the NPC's they gain a buff that increases the damage they do by 10%, when they get to 10 stacks they cast a shield around themself and can't be damage for 15secs.
The basic strat for this boss fight "on beta not live anything can change" is that you focus one till 9 stacks then swich to the other one and you just go back and forth till both die.
I just ran Jade Temple for the 5th time today and I found another Event "calling of the Sun"
this is the basics of the fight.
5 sun spirits spawn, for each one you kill something happens.
the first one you kill summons a ray of Sunlight that does damage to anyone in it, it is randomly spawned in the room, does 20k damage every 2 secs.
the 2nd one you kill summons another ray of Sun light.
the 3rd one you kill summons "Haunting Sha" tank needs to pick these up.
4th one you kill summons a AOE under the Suns, Stay out of this and range kill the last one.
After you kill the last Sun kill the Haunting Sha's that have spawns.
Your "friend" that has been helping you goes Crazy and starts to attack.
He randomly shoots Targets with Dragon's Arrows and this does 27k to each person it hits, very healing intensive at this stage.
Tip: Save all cool downs for betrayal Phase so its less Pressure on the healer.
GL, hope this info helps.
This encounter has two possible variants.
The Trial of the Yongol:
Two mobs will spawn, Strife and Peril, who each have the same abilities. The strategy is pretty basic, attack one until its stacks get high then switch to the other, rinse and repeat.
The Champion of the Five Suns:
Five sun mobs will spawn, only four of which are attackable. They randomly attack party members.
When they die
spawn, which are tankable.
At some point (not clear on if it's a mob's death or a timer) the Sha will possess Zao Sunseeker, he will be come attackable and you must kill him. He is not takable and randomly shoots party members.
After running this encounter many times, the easiest way to currently deal with Anger and Strife on beta , is to focus one mob down and completely ignore the other. Tanks will still need to get aggro on both. Once the first one is dead, than switch. Yes, one will go immune for 15 seconds, just wait it out. It seems counter to the fight, but it is actually less overall damage going out and easier to heal.
Lootlist normal mode:
A beta video showing you the Temple of the Jade Serpent, the bosses, explains tactics and some of the loot:
Bugged now: Zao is not attackable in the end and so the door in the rear won't open. This applies to both normal and hardcore mode.
The Five Suns version seems to bug out fairly regularly. My group had best results when having the entire group stand in the middle of the wood panel.
I remember you! In the rafters...
Also, I love the way this guy says "Sha".
I have run this dungeon quite some number of times, and haven't seen the Suns encounter since the first week. Anyone know if they decided to remove this one and just leave the Yaungol in? I suppose I could also have very strange luck.
I'm convinced Trial of the Yaungol has a much higher percentage than the sun one. Every time I've run it that is the only one I've ever done.
5.1 Sun's enabled again and still bugged. Have fun with your dungeon cooldown.
As of Patch 5.2, both possible encounters have been re-enabled.
Source for this boss perhaps.
THE FABLE OF ERIS & HERACLES
Aesop, Fables 534 (from Chambry 129) (trans. Gibbs) (Greek fable C6th B.C.) :
"Herakles was making his way through a narrow pass. He saw something that looked like an apple lying on the ground and he tried to smash it with his club. After having been struck by the club, the thing swelled up to twice its size. Herakles struck it again with his club, even harder than before, and the thing then expanded to such a size that it blocked Herakles's way. Herakles let go of his club and stood there, amazed. Athena saw him and said, ‘O Herakles, don't be so surprised! This thing that has brought about your confusion is Aporia (Contentiousness) and Eris (Strife). If you just leave it alone, it stays small; but if you decide to fight it, then it swells from its small size and grows large.’"
Fun fact: Lorewalker Stonestep's dialogue in the Temple of the Jade Serpent instance is voiced by Barry Dennen, somewhat better-known for his role as "Master Li" from the Jade Empire RPG by Bioware, and "Dean Domino" from the Fallout New Vegas DLC "Dead Money".
Oh my god, it's Sun Li the Glorious Strategist!
